WJSC 6^(th) Anniversary Special Issues(1):Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia:Current state in 2013 and future directions显示文摘Acute myeloid leukemia(AML)represents a heterogeneous group of high-grade myeloid neoplasms of the elderly with variable outcomes.Though remissioninduction is an important first step in the management of AML,additional treatment strategies are essential to ensure long-term disease-free survival.Recent pivotal advances in understanding the genetics and molecular biology of AML have allowed for a risk-adapted approach in its management based on relapse-risk.Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation(allo-HCT)represents an effective therapeutic strategy in AML providing the possibility of cure with potent graft-versus-leukemia reactions, with a demonstrable survival advantage in younger patients with intermediate-or poor-risk cytogenetics.Herein we review the published data regarding the role of allo-HCT in adults with AML.We searched MEDLINE/PubMed and EMBASE/Ovid.In addition,we searched reference lists of relevant articles, conference proceedings and ongoing trial databases. We discuss the role of allo-HCT in AML patients stratified by cytogenetic-and molecular-risk in first complete remission,as well as allo-HCT as an option in relapsed/refractory AML.Besides the conventional sibling and unrelated donor allografts,we review the available data and recent advances for alternative donor sources such as haploidentical grafts and umbilical cord blood. We also discuss conditioning regimens, including reduced intensity conditioning which has broadened the applicability of allo-HCT.Finally we explore recent advances and future possibilities and directions of allo-HCT in AML.Practical therapeutic recommendations have been made where possible based on available data and expert opinion.Abraham S Kanate Marcelo C Pasquini Parameswaran N Hari Mehdi Hamadani 2014World Journal of Stem Cells2014,6,2:6
Determination of drug, excipients and coating distribution in pharmaceutical tablets using NIR-CI显示文摘The growing interest of the pharmaceutical industry in Near Infrared-Chemical Imaging (NIR-CI) is a result of its high usefulness for quality control analyses of drugs throughout their production process (particularly of its non-destructive nature and expeditious data acquisition). In this work, the concentration and distribution of the major and minor components of pharmaceutical tablets are determined and the spatial distribution from the internal and external sides has been obtained. In addition, the same NIR-CI allowed the coating thickness and its surface distribution to be quantified.Images were processed to extract the target data and calibration models constructed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) algorithms. The concentrations of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and excipients obtained for uncoated cores were essentially identical to the nominal values of the pharmaceutical formulation. But the predictive ability of the calibration models applied to the coated tablets decreased as the coating thickness increased.Anna Palou Jordi Cruz Marcelo Blanco Jaume Tomàs Joaquín de los Ríos Manel Alcalà 2012Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2012,2,2:4
Immunohistochemical expression of intrarenal renin angiotensin system components in response to tempol in rats fed a high salt diet显示文摘AIM To determine the effect of tempol in normal rats fed high salt on arterial pressure and the balance between antagonist components of the renal renin-angiotensin system.METHODS Sprague-Dawley rats were fed with 8% Na Cl highsalt(HS) or 0.4% Na Cl(normal-salt,NS) diet for 3 wk,with or without tempol(T)(1 mmol/L,administered in drinking water). Mean arterial pressure(MAP),glomerularfiltration rate(GFR),and urinary sodium excretion(UVNa) were measured. We evaluated angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ),angiotensin 1-7(Ang 1-7),angiotensin converting enzyme 2(ACE2),mas receptor(Mas R),angiotensin type 1 receptor(AT1R) and angiotensin type 2 receptor(AT2R) in renal tissues by immunohistochemistry.RESULTS The intake of high sodium produced a slight but significant increase in MAP and differentially regulated components of the renal renin-angiotensin system(RAS). This included an increase in Ang Ⅱ and AT1 R,and decrease in ACE-2 staining intensity using immunohistochemistry. Antioxidant supplementation with tempol increased natriuresis and GFR,prevented changes in blood pressure and reversed the imbalance of renal RAS components. This includes a decrease in Ang Ⅱ and AT1 R,as increase in AT2,ACE2,Ang(1-7) and Mas R staining intensity using immunohistochemistry. In addition, the natriuretic effects of tempol were observed in NS-T group, which showed an increased staining intensity of AT2,ACE2,Ang(1-7) and Mas R.CONCLUSION These findings suggest that a high salt diet leads to changes in the homeostasis and balance between opposing components of the renal RAS in hypertension to favour an increase in Ang Ⅱ. Chronic antioxidant supplementation can modulate the balance between the natriuretic and antinatriuretic components of the renal RAS.Gabriel Cao Silvana Lorena Della Penna Nicolas Martín Kouyoumdzian Marcelo Roberto Choi Susana Gorzalczany Belisario Enrique Fernández Jorge Eduardo Toblli María Inés Roson 2017World Journal of Nephrology2017,6,1:4
Renal dopaminergic system:Pathophysiological implications and clinical perspectives显示文摘Fluid homeostasis, blood pressure and redox balance in the kidney are regulated by an intricate interaction between local and systemic anti-natriuretic and natriuretic systems. Intrarenal dopamine plays a central role on this interactive network. By activating specific receptors, dopamine promotes sodium excretion and stimulates anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory pathways. Different pathological scenarios where renal sodium excretion is dysregulated, as in nephrotic syndrome, hypertension and renal inflammation, can be associated with impaired action of renal dopamine including alteration in biosynthesis, dopamine receptor expression and signal transduction. Given its properties on the regulation of renal blood flow and sodium excretion, exogenous dopamine has been postulated as a potential therapeutic strategy to prevent renal failure in critically ill patients. The aim of this review is to update and discuss on the most recent findings about renal dopaminergic system and its role in several diseases involving the kidneys and the potential use of dopamine as a nephroprotective agent.Marcelo Roberto Choi Nicolás Martín Kouyoumdzian Natalia Lucía Rukavina Mikusic María Cecilia Kravetz María Inés Rosón Martín Rodríguez Fermepin Belisario Enrique Fernández 2015World Journal of Nephrology2015,4,2:2

Photoluminescence emissions of Ca_(1-x)WO_(4):xEu^(3+):Bridging between experiment and DFT calculations显示文摘In this work, the impact of the doping process on the photoluminescence emission of CaWO_(4) as a function of the concentration of Eu^(3+) cation(0.01 mol%,0.02 mol%,0.04 mol%,0.06 mol%,0.08 mol%,and 0.10 mol%) is discussed in detail.Ca_(1-x)WO~4:xEu^(3+) samples were successfully synthesized by a simple coprecipitation method followed by microwave irradiation. The blue shift in the absorption edge confirms the quantum confinement effect and the band gap energy covers the range from 3.91 to 4.18 eV,as the amount of Eu^(3+) cations increases. The experimental results are sustained by first-principles calculations,at the density functional theory level,to decipher the geometry and electronic properties, thereby enabling a more accurate and direct comparison between theory and experiment for the Ca_(1-x)WO_(4):xEu^(3+) structure.Amanda Fernandes Gouveia Marcelo Assis Lara Kelly Ribeiro Aline Estefany Brandao Lima Eduardo de Oliveira Gomes Daniele Souza Yara Gobato Galvao Ieda Lucia Viana Rosa Geraldo Eduardo da Luz Jr Eva Guillamón Elson Longo Juan Andrés Miguel Angel San-Miguel 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,10:1

FungalTraits:a user-friendly traits database of fungi and fungus-like stramenopiles显示文摘The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental studies.Over the past decades, rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and habitats.Yet,in spite of the progress of molecular methods, knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains challenging. In order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis levels.Combining the information from previous efforts such as FUNGuild and FunFun together with involvement of expert knowledge,we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera, respectively. This resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera, designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental stud-ies.In order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses, the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS sequences. On the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1%dissimilarity threshold.Sergei Põlme Kessy Abarenkov RHenrik Nilsson Björn D.Lindahl Karina Engelbrecht Clemmensen Havard Kauserud Nhu Nguyen Rasmus Kjøller Scott T.Bates Petr Baldrian Tobias Guldberg Frøslev Kristjan Adojaan Alfredo Vizzini Ave Suija Donald Pfister Hans-Otto Baral Helle Järv Hugo Madrid Jenni Nordén Jian-Kui Liu Julia Pawlowska Kadri Põldmaa Kadri Pärtel Kadri Runnel Karen Hansen Karl-Henrik Larsson Kevin David Hyde Marcelo Sandoval-Denis Matthew E.Smith Merje Toome-Heller Nalin N.Wijayawardene Nelson Menolli Jr Nicole K.Reynolds Rein Drenkhan Sajeewa S.N.Maharachchikumbura Tatiana B.Gibertoni Thomas Læssøe William Davis Yuri Tokarev Adriana Corrales Adriene Mayra Soares Ahto Agan Alexandre Reis Machado Andrés Argüelles-Moyao Andrew Detheridge Angelina de Meiras-Ottoni Annemieke Verbeken Arun Kumar Dutta Bao-Kai Cui C.K.Pradeep César Marín Daniel Stanton Daniyal Gohar Dhanushka N.Wanasinghe Eveli Otsing Farzad Aslani Gareth W.Griffith Thorsten H.Lumbsch Hans-Peter Grossart Hossein Masigol Ina Timling Inga Hiiesalu Jane Oja John Y.Kupagme József Geml Julieta Alvarez-Manjarrez Kai Ilves Kaire Loit Kalev Adamson Kazuhide Nara Kati Küngas Keilor Rojas-Jimenez Krišs Bitenieks Laszlo Irinyi LászlóGNagy Liina Soonvald Li-Wei Zhou Lysett Wagner M.Catherine Aime MaarjaÖpik María Isabel Mujica Martin Metsoja Martin Ryberg Martti Vasar Masao Murata Matthew PNelsen Michelle Cleary Milan C.Samarakoon Mingkwan Doilom Mohammad Bahram Niloufar Hagh-Doust Olesya Dulya Peter Johnston Petr Kohout Qian Chen Qing Tian Rajasree Nandi Rasekh Amiri Rekhani Hansika Perera Renata dos Santos Chikowski Renato L.Mendes-Alvarenga Roberto Garibay-Orijel Robin Gielen Rungtiwa Phookamsak Ruvishika S.Jayawardena Saleh Rahimlou Samantha C.Karunarathna Saowaluck Tibpromma Shawn P.Brown Siim-Kaarel Sepp Sunil Mundra Zhu-Hua Luo Tanay Bose Tanel Vahter Tarquin Netherway Teng Yang Tom May Torda Varga Wei Li Victor Rafael Matos Coimbra Virton Rodrigo Targino de Oliveira Vitor Xavier de Lima Vladimir S.Mikryukov Yongzhong Lu Yosuke Matsuda Yumiko Miyamoto Urmas Kõljalg Leho Tedersoo 2020Fungal Diversity2020,,6:1

Laparoscopic resection of primary retroperitoneal schwannoma:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Schwannomas are rare, often benign, tumors deriving from Schwann cells that have low incidence in the retroperitoneal region(0.5%to 5%).Their diagnosis is hardly confirmed at early stage due to lack of specific features in signs, symptoms and imaging tests. Thus,it is necessary performing guided punch biopsy in order to identify it.Tumor removal is the treatment of choice due to its low sensitivity to radiation and chemotherapy.CASE SUMMARY Forty-seven years old female patient who was hospitalized for elective orthopedic procedure, without complications, evolved with severe pain in the lower limbs, thigh and gluteal region associated with neurogenic claudication.Persistent pain required magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of the lumbar spine, which showed epidural collection with dural compression and massive heterogeneous perihepatic nodular lesion. The surgical team opted for draining the collection,as well as requested an MRI of the abdomen and pelvis, whose analysis showed expansive lesion in the retroperitoneum,in close contact with the inferior vena cava and with the right renal vein.A guided puncture was performed for diagnostic clarification, which showed immunohistochemical profile compatible with schwannoma. The selected treatment comprised retroperitoneum tumor resection in association with laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The patient was discharged and remained stable after 4-mo follow-up;she remains under followup to check the need of cancer investigations.CONCLUSION Schwannoma features requires surgical treatment based on laparoscopic resection, which often presents low relapse rates and optimistic prognosis.Marcelo AF Ribeiro Jr Yasmin GB Elias Samara de S Augusto Paola R Néder Cássia TK Costa Andressa D Maurício Adriano P Sampaio Alexandre Z Fonseca 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,18:1
Turbo-taxonomy to assemble a megadiverse lichen genus:seventy new species of Cora(Basidiomycota:Agaricales:Hygrophoraceae),honouring David Leslie Hawksworth’s seventieth birthday显示文摘Following a large-scale phylogenetic study of the lichenized genus Cora(Basidiomycota:Agaricales:Hygrophoraceae),we formally describe 70 new species, honouring the seventieth birthday of David Leslie Hawksworth, one of the preeminent figures in mycology and lichenology in the past 50 years.Based on an updated phylogeny using the ITS fungal barcoding locus,we now recognize 189 taxa in a genus that until recently was considered to represent a single species;including this contribution,92 of these are formally recognized, including five taxa based on historical names or collections that have not been sequenced.Species of Cora can be recognized by a combination of morphological(size, colour, lobe configuration, surface hairs, hymenophore size and shape),anatomical(thallus thickness, cortex structure, photobiont type, hyphal papillae),and ecogeographical features(substrate, habitat, distribution),and a keytable allowing the identification of all accepted taxa is provided. The new species
