| 4 | The bacterial small RNAs: The new biomarkers of oral microbiotaassociated cancers and diseases显示文摘The oral microbiota is a vital part of the human microbiota that functions in various physiological processes and ishighly relevant to cancers and other diseases. With the alterations of host immune competence, the homeostatic balanceexisting between the oral microbiota and host may be disturbed and result in the development of diseases. Numerousobservations have suggested that small RNAs are key regulators of bacterial pathogenesis and bacteria-host interactions.Further, bacterial small RNAs are considered to be promising biomarkers for the development of novel, and efficacioustherapies for oral dysbiosis. Mechanistic insights into how oral pathogens communicate with other bacteria or host cellsin oral cancers via small RNAs are hot topics of research. Current studies also have begun to elucidate the key role oforal microbiota in the development of systemic diseases. | 5 | Study on the secondary structure and hydration effect of human serum albumin under acidic pH and ethanol perturbation with IR/NIR spectroscopy显示文摘Human serum albumin(HSA)is the most abundant protein in plasma and plays an essential physiological role in the human body.Ethanol precipitation is the most widely used way to obtain HSA,and pH and ethanol are crucial factors affecting the process.In this study,infrared(IR)spectroscopy and near-infrared(NIR)spectroscopy in combination with chemometrics were used to investigate the changes in the secondary structure and hydration of HSA at acidic pH(5.6-3.2)and isoelectric pH when ethanol concentration was varied from 0%to 40%as a perturbation.IR spectroscopy combined with the two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy(2DCOS)analysis for acid pH system proved that the secondary structure of HSA changed significantly when pH was around 4.5.What's more,the IR spectroscopy and 2DCOS analysis showed different secondary structure forms under different ethanol concentrations at the isoelectric pH.For the hydration effect analysis,NIR spectroscopy combined with the McCabe-Fisher method and aquaphotomics showed that the free hydrogen-bonded water fluctuates dynamically,with ethanol at 0-20%enhancing the hydrogen-bonded water clusters,while weak hydrogen-bonded water clusters were formed when the ethanol concentration increased continuously from 20%to 30%.These measurements provide new insights into the structural changes and changes in the hydration behavior of HSA,revealing the dynamic process of protein purification,and providing a theoretical basis for the selection of HSA alcoholic precipitation process parameters,as well as for further studies of complex biological systems. | Hui Zhang Mengying Liang Shuangshuang Li Mengyin Tian Xiaoying Wei Bing Zhao Haowei Wang Qin Dong Hengchang Zang | 2023 | Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2023,16,4: | 0 |

| 7 | Exploiting styrene-maleic acid copolymer grafting chromatographic stationary phase materials for separation of membrane lipids显示文摘High performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry is one of the most commonly used strategies for lipid analysis.The development of versatile chromatographic stationary phases to meet the increasing demands for separation of complex lipids is very important.Styrene-maleic acid(SMA)copolymer is an amphiphilic polymer,which has been proven to have the ability to solubilize lipid molecules of various structures.In this study,styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer coated silica was first prepared by the thiol-ene click reaction.With L-cysteine hydrochloride or dodecanol as the post-modification reagents,Sil-SMA-amino acid and Sil-SMA-dodecanol stationary phase materials were further successfully fabricated via nucleophilic ring-opening reaction.The Fourier-transform infrared,thermogravimetric analysis,and elemental analysis results confirmed the two stationary phase materials were successfully prepared.Furthermore,both the Sil-SMA-dodecanol column and the Sil-SMA-amino acid column possessed reversed-phase/hydrophilic interaction/ion exchange mixed-mode retention mechanisms.The column efficiency of the Sil-SMA-derivatives columns reached 77,300 N/m.Based on the mixed-mode retention characteristics,the Sil-SMA-derivatives columns achieved both the lipid classes and species separation via a single column.The Sil-SMA-amino acid column was further successfully used to separate lipid extract from gastric cancer cell membrane.All these results demonstrated that the SMA-based stationary phase materials have a good potential for use in lipid separation. | Mengying Liang Delu Liu Yangyang Nie Yanli Liu Xiaoqiang Qiao | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,6: | 0 |

| 9 | An integrative profiling of metabolome and transcriptome in the plasma and skeletal muscle following an exercise intervention in diet-induced obese mice显示文摘Exercise intervention at the early stage of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)can aid in the maintenance of blood glucose homeostasis and prevent the development of macrovascular and microvascular complications.However,the exercise-regulated pathways that prevent the development of T2DM remain largely unclear.In this study,two forms of exercise intervention,treadmill training and voluntary wheel running,were conducted for high-fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mice.We observed that both forms of exercise intervention alleviated HFD-induced insulin resistance and glucose intolerance.Skeletal muscle is recognized as the primary site for postprandial glucose uptake and for responsive alteration beyond exercise training.Metabolomic profiling of the plasma and skeletal muscle in Chow,HFD,and HFD-exercise groups revealed robust alterations in metabolic pathways by exercise intervention in both cases.Overlapping analysis identified nine metabolites,including beta-alanine,leucine,valine,and tryptophan,which were reversed by exercise treatment in both the plasma and skeletal muscle.Transcriptomic analysis of gene expression profiles in the skeletal muscle revealed several key pathways involved in the beneficial effects of exercise on metabolic homeostasis.In addition,integrative transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses uncovered strong correlations between the concentrations of bioactive metabolites and the expression levels of genes involved in energy metabolism,insulin sensitivity,and immune response in the skeletal muscle.This work established two models of exercise intervention in obese mice and provided mechanistic insights into the beneficial effects of exercise intervention on systemic energy homeostasis. | Shuang Han Qingqian Wu Mengying Wang Miqi Yang Chen Sun Jiaqi Liang Xiaozhen Guo Zheyu Zhang Jingya Xu Xinyuan Qiu Cen Xie Siyu Chen Yue Gao Zhuo-Xian Meng | 2023 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2023,15,3: | 0 |
