| 2 | Biofilm structure and its influence on clogging in drip irrigation emitters distributing reclaimed wastewater显示文摘Using reclaimed wastewater for crop irrigation is a practical alternative to discharge wastewater treatment plant effluents into surface waters.However,biofouling has been identified as a major contributor to emitter clogging in drip irrigation systems distributing reclaimed wastewater.Little is known about the biofilm structure and its influence on clogging in the drip emitter flow path.This study was first to investigate the microbial characteristics of mature biofilms present in the emitters and the effect of flow path structures on the biofilm microbial communities.The analysis of biofilm matrix structure using a scanning electron microscopy(SEM) revealed that particles in the matrix of the biofilm coupled extracellular polysaccharides(EPS) and formed sediment in the emitter flow path.Analysis of biofilm mass including protein,polysaccharide,and phospholipid fatty acids(PLFAs) showed that emitter flow path style influenced biofilm community structure and diversity.The correlations of biofilm biomass and discharge reduction after 360 h irrigation were computed and suggest that PFLAs provide the best correlation coeffcient.Comparatively,the emitter with the unsymmetrical dentate structure and shorter flow path(Emitter C) had the best anti-clogging capability.By optimizing the dentate structure,the internal flow pattern within the flow path could be enhanced as an important method to control the biofilm within emitter flow path.This study established electron microscope techniques and biochemical microbial analysis methods that may provide a framework for future emitter biofilm studies. | YAN Dazhuang BAI Zhihui Mike Rowan GU Likun Ren Shumei YANG Peiling | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,6: | 4 |
| 3 | Clinical Practice Guidelines and Experts’Consensuses for Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)Patients with Chinese Herbal Medicine:A Systematic Review显示文摘Objective:To systematically review the clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients with Chinese herbal medicine(CHM),summarize their recommendations and evaluate their qualities.Methods:Electronic databases,websites of governments,academic associations or organizations for eligible guidelines were searched up to April 2020.Information were extracted to summarize recommendations for the use of Chinese herbal formulae and Chinese patent medicine(CPM)for COVID-19 patients.The methodological quality and reporting quality of the included guidelines were independently evaluated,using the Appraisal of Guidelines for REsearch and Evaluation(AGREE)Ⅱtool and Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in healthcare(RIGHT)statement,respectively.Results:Totally 45 guidelines were identififi ed:42(93%)suggested specific CM formulae for treating COVID-19 patients;and 35(78%)assigned patients diagnosed with COVID-19 to 4 stages(early,development,critical and recovery).The recommended formulae and CPMs for each stage with diverse syndrome types have been summarized.Most of the included guidelines were of low methodological quality,with only one achieving moderate quality of AGREEⅡ.The frequency with which the 35 items in the Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare(RIGHT)checklist were reported averaged 36.5%across the 45 guidelines.Conclusions:This systematic review has summarized current recommendations for treating COVID-19 patients with CHM and shows that the general quality of present guidelines is quite low.The development of future guidelines should include increased awareness of the features of good quality guidelines. | LI Yu-xi LI Juan ZHANG Yue TIAN Yan-ping ZHANG Yong-gang JIN Rong-jiang GUO Yan Mike Clarke | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,10: | 3 |

| 7 | Spatio-temporal Characteristics of Area Coverage and Observation Geometry of the MISR Land-surface BRF Product: A Case Study of the Central Part of Northeast Asia显示文摘The Multi-angle imaging spectroradiometer(MISR) land-surface(LS) bidirectional reflectance factor(BRF) product(MILS_BRF) has unique semi-simultaneous multi-angle sampling and global coverage. However, unlike on-satellite observations, the spatio-temporal characteristics of MILS_BRF data have rarely been explicitly and comprehensively analysed. Results from 5-yr(2011–2015) of MILS_BRF dataset from a typical region in central Northeast Asia as the study area showed that the monthly area coverage as well as MILS_BRF data quantity varies significantly, from the highest in October(99.05%) through median in June/July(78.09%/75.21%) to lowest in January(18.97%), and a large data-vacant area exists in the study area during four consecutive winter months(December through March). The data-vacant area is mainly composed of crop lands and cropland/natural vegetation mosaic. The amount of data within the principal plane(PP)±30°(nPP) or cross PP ±30°(nCP), varies intra-annually with significant differences from different view zeniths or forward/backward scattering directions. For example, multiple off-nadir cameras have nPP but no nCP data for up to six months(September through February), with the opposite occurring in June and July. This study provides explicit and comprehensive information about the spatio-temporal characteristics of product coverage and observation geometry of MILS_BRF in the study area. Results provide required user reference information for MILS_BRF to evaluate performance of BRDF models or to compare with other satellite-derived BRF or albedo products. | 15 | An Adaptive ANOVA-Based Data-Driven Stochastic Method for Elliptic PDEs with Random Coefficient显示文摘In this paper,we present an adaptive,analysis of variance(ANOVA)-based data-driven stochastic method(ANOVA-DSM)to study the stochastic partial differential equations(SPDEs)in the multi-query setting.Our new method integrates the advantages of both the adaptive ANOVA decomposition technique and the data-driven stochastic method.To handle high-dimensional stochastic problems,we investigate the use of adaptive ANOVA decomposition in the stochastic space as an effective dimension-reduction technique.To improve the slow convergence of the generalized polynomial chaos(gPC)method or stochastic collocation(SC)method,we adopt the data-driven stochastic method(DSM)for speed up.An essential ingredient of the DSM is to construct a set of stochastic basis under which the stochastic solutions enjoy a compact representation for a broad range of forcing functions and/or boundary conditions.Our ANOVA-DSM consists of offline and online stages.In the offline stage,the original high-dimensional stochastic problem is decomposed into a series of lowdimensional stochastic subproblems,according to the ANOVA decomposition technique.Then,for each subproblem,a data-driven stochastic basis is computed using the Karhunen-Lo`eve expansion(KLE)and a two-level preconditioning optimization approach.Multiple trial functions are used to enrich the stochastic basis and improve the accuracy.In the online stage,we solve each stochastic subproblem for any given forcing function by projecting the stochastic solution into the data-driven stochastic basis constructed offline.In our ANOVA-DSM framework,solving the original highdimensional stochastic problem is reduced to solving a series of ANOVA-decomposed stochastic subproblems using the DSM.An adaptive ANOVA strategy is also provided to further reduce the number of the stochastic subproblems and speed up our method.To demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of our method,numerical examples are presented for one-and two-dimensional elliptic PDEs with random coefficients. | Zhiwen Zhang Xin Hu Thomas Y.Hou Guang Lin Mike Yan | 2014 | Communications in Computational Physics2014,16,8: | 0 |
