| 1 | Active tectonic blocks and strong earthquakes in the continent of China显示文摘The primary pattern of the late Cenozoic to the present tectonic deformation of China is characterized by relative movements and interactions of tectonic blocks. Active tectonic blocks are geological units that have been separated from each other by active tectonic zones. Boundaries between blocks are the highest gradient of differential movement. Most of tectonic activity occurs on boundaries of the blocks. Earthquakes are results of abrupt releases of accumulated strain energy that reaches the threshold of strength of the earth's crust. Boundaries of tectonic blocks are the locations of most discontinuous deformation and highest gradient of stress accumulation, thus are the most likely places for strain energy accumulation and releases, and in turn, devastating earthquakes. Almost all earthquakes of magnitude greater than 8 and 80%-90% of earthquakes of magnitude over 7 occur along boundaries of active tectonic blocks. | 2 | GPS-constrained inversion of present-day slip rates along major faults of the Sichuan-Yunnan region, China显示文摘A linked-fault-element model is employed to invert for contemporary slip rates along major active faults in the Sichuan-Yunnan region (96°-108°E, 21°-35°N) using the least squares method. The model is based on known fault geometry, and constrained by a GPS-derived horizontal velocity field. Our results support a model attributing the eastward extrusion of the Tibetan Plateau driven mainly by the north-northeastward indentation of the Indian plate into Tibet and the gravitational collapse of the plateau. Resisted by a relatively stable south China block, materials of the Sichuan-Yunnan region rotate clockwise around the eastern Himalayan tectonic syntaxis. During the process the Garzê-Yushu, Xianshuihe, Anninghe, Zemuhe, Daliangshan, and Xiaojiang faults, the southwest extension of the Xiaojiang fault, and the Daluo-Jinghong and Mae Chan faults constitute the northeast and east boundaries of the eastward extrusion, with their left slip rates being 0.3-14.7, 8.9-17.1, 5.1 ± 2.5, 2.8 ± 2.3, 7.1 ± 2.1, 9.4 ± 1.2, 10.1 ± 2.0, 7.3 ± 2.6, and 4.9 ± 3.0 mm/a respectively. The southwestern boundary consists of a widely distributed dextral transpressional zone other than a single fault. Right slip rates of 4.2 ± 1.3, 4.3 ± 1.1, and 8.5 ± 1.7 mm/a are detected across the Nanhua-Chuxiong-Jianshui, Wuliangshan, and Longling-Lancang faults. Crustal deformation across the Longmenshan fault is weak, with short-ening rates of 1.4 ± 1.0 and 1.6 ± 1.3 mm/a across the Baoxing-Beichuan and Beichuan-Qingchuan segments. Northwest of the Longmenshan fault lies an active deformation zone (the Longriba fault) with 5.1±1.2 mm/a right slip across. Relatively large slip rates are detected across a few faults within the Sichuan-Yunnan block: 4.4±1.3 mm/a left slip and 2.7±1.1 mm/a shortening across the Litang fault, and 2.7±2.3 mm/a right-lateral shearing and 6.7±2.3 mm/a shortening across the Yunongxi fault and its surrounding regions. In conclusion, we find that the Sichuan-Yunnan region is divided into more than a dozen active micro-blocks by a large number of faults with relatively slow slip rates. | 3 | Contemporary crustal deformation of the Chinese continent and tectonic block model显示文摘We obtain the preliminary result of crustal deformation velocity field for the Chinese con-tinent by analyzing GPS data from the Crustal Motion Observation Network of China (CMONOC), particularly the data from the regional networks of CMONOC observed in 1999 and 2001. We de-lineate 9 tectonically active blocks and 2 broadly distributed deformation zones out of a denseGPS velocity field, and derive block motion Euler poles for the blocks and their relative motionrates. Our result reveals that there are 3 categories of deformation patterns in the Chinese conti-nent. The first category, associated with the interior of the Tibetan Plateau and the Tianshan oro-genic belt, shows broadly distributed deformation within the regions. The third category, associatedwith the Tarim Basin and the region east of the north-south seismic belt of China, shows block-likemotion, with deformation accommodated along the block boundaries only. The second category, mainly associated with the borderland of the Tibetan Plateau, such as the Qaidam, Qilian, Xining(in eastern Qinghai), and the Diamond-shaped (in western Sichuan and Yunnan) blocks, has thedeformation pattern between the first and the third, i.e. these regions appear to deform block-like,but with smaller sizes and less strength for the blocks. Based on the analysis of the lithosphericstructures and the deformation patterns of the regions above, we come to the inference that thedeformation modes of the Chinese continental crust are mainly controlled by the crustal structure.The crust of the eastern China and the Tarim Basin is mechanically strong, and its deformationtakes the form of relative motion between rigid blocks. On the other hand, the northward indentation of the Indian plate into the Asia continent has created the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the Tianshan Mountains, thickened their crust, and raised the temperature in the crust. The lower crust thus has become ductile, evidenced in low seismic velocity and high electric conductivity observed. The brittle part of the crust, driven by the visco-plastic flow of the lower crust, deforms extensively at all scales. The regions of the second category located at the borderland of the Tibetan Plateau are at the transition zone between the regions of the first and the third categories in terms of the crustal structure. | 4 | Morphological study on colonic pathology in ulcerative colitis treated by moxibustion显示文摘AIM To observe the therapeutic effect ofmoxibustion on ulcerative colitis and itsinfluence on the colonic mucosal morphology.METHODS Forty-six patients with ulcerativecolitis were randomly divided into themoxibustion with herbal medicine underneathgroup and the western medicine group.Thirtypatients were treated with the abovemoxibustion and 16 patients with Salicylayefapyridine(SASP).The colonic mucosa of 13patients in the moxibustion group was observedby colonoscopy before and after the treatment.Mucin was also analyzed by H.E and AB-PASstaining.RESULTS Seventeen patients were clinicallycured,12 were improved and 1 unchanged in themoxibustion group.In the control group,5patients were clinically cured,7 improved and 4unchanged.Thirteen patients with active UCwere taken as the subjects for histopathologicanalysis in this study.The colonic mucosallesions were remarkably improved and thecharacteristic of the mucin also changed.Inmost sections,the chronic inflammation ofmucosa was geatly ameliorated(P<0.01).Theinflammatory cell infiltratation much decreased and neutrophils,disapeared in most sections(P<0.001).The goblet cells significantlyincreased(P<0.001);crypt paracrypt abscessor mucosal ulceration was seen(P<0.001).CONCLUSION The rate of cure of ulcerative colitis by moxibustion with herbal medicine beneath is superior to that by SASP. | 5 | Lp-PLA2 inhibition prevents Ang Ⅱ-induced cardiac inflammation and fibrosis by blocking macrophage NLRP3 inflammasome activation显示文摘Macrophage-mediated inflammation plays an important role in hypertensive cardiac remodeling,whereas effective pharmacological treatments targeting cardiac inflammation remain unclear.Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2)contributes to vascular inflammation-related diseases by mediating macrophage migration and activation.Darapladib,the most advanced Lp-PLA2 inhibitor,has been evaluated in phase Ⅲ trials in atherosclerosis patients.However,the role of darapladib in inhibiting hypertensive cardiac fibrosis remains unknown.Using a murine angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ)infusion-induced hypertension model,we found that Pla2g7(the gene of Lp-PLA2)was the only upregulated PLA2 gene detected in hypertensive cardiac tissue,and it was primarily localized in heart-infiltrating macrophages.As expected,darapladib significantly prevented Ang Ⅱ-induced cardiac fibrosis,ventricular hypertrophy,and cardiac dysfunction,with potent abatement of macrophage infiltration and inflammatory response.RNA sequencing revealed that darapladib strongly downregulated the expression of genes and signaling pathways related to inflammation,extracellular matrix,and proliferation.Moreover,darapladib substantially reduced the Ang Ⅱ infusion-induced expression of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor with pyrin domain 3(NLRP3)and interleukin(IL)-1β and markedly attenuated caspase-1 activation in cardiac tissues.Furthermore,darapladib ameliorated Ang Ⅱ-stimulated macrophage migration and IL-1β secretion in macrophages by blocking NLRP3 inflammasome activation.Darapladib also effectively blocked macrophage-mediated transformation of fibroblasts into myofibroblasts by inhibiting the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in macrophages.Overall,our study identifies a novel anti-inflammatory and anti-cardiac fibrosis role of darapladib in Lp-PLA2 inhibition,elucidating the protective effects of suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome activation.Lp-PLA2 inhibition by darapladib represents a novel therapeutic strategy for hypertensive cardiac damage treatment. | Si-lin Lv Zi-fan Zeng Wen-qiang Gan Wei-qi Wang Tie-gang Li Yu-fang Hou Zheng Yan Ri-xin Zhang Min Yang | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,12: | 21 |
| 6 | Influence of O_2 Content in Circulating Flue Gas on Iron Ore Sintering显示文摘Circulating flue gas can reduce the emission of flue gas , and furthermore , it can reuse the waste heat effectively in the sintering process.Compared with conventional sintering , O2 that gets through the sintering bed decreases because of substituting circulating gas for air.The influences of O2 content on sintering process are studied through simulating the flue gas circulation sintering with artificial gas.It shows that , with the reducing of O2 content in circulating gas , the combustion speed of fuel decreases and incomplete combustion degree increases , which makes the flame front fall behind the heat front and reduces the heat utilization efficiency of fuel.The ultimate result is that the temperature of sintering bed decreases and the liquid phase reduces.In addition , the reducing atmosphere is strengthened because of flue gas circulation , which makes the magnetite increase yet calcium ferrite reduce gradually. | 7 | Near-field surface movement during the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake measured by high-rate GPS显示文摘Based on high-rate (1 Hz) GPS data from the Sichuan GPS Continuous Observation Network on the footwall of the Longmenshan Fault, we have characterized the near-field surface movement process during the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake. Results show that the maximum deformation near the fault is larger than the deformation set. Stations on the northern segment of the fault moved towards the epicenter first, and then turned toward the vertical orientation of the fault. Deformation of stations on the southern segment is smaller and recovered. The initial motion at all of the stations was downward followed by periodic up and down movements. Comparing the displacement from high-rate GPS and accelerograph data, we can see that they are consistent prior to the arrival of the principal shock, but afterwards a 10 cm difference is found, even though they are synchronized and in phase. More work is yet to be done to explain this. This is the first time that actual the real near-field surface movements of an earth- quake of M >7.0 have been determined in china. | 8 | Effect of main inclusions on crack initiation in bearing steel in the very high cycle fatigue regime显示文摘This work aims to investigate the effect of main inclusions on crack initiation in bearing steel in the very high cycle fatigue(VHCF) regime. The size and type of inclusions in the steel were quantitatively analyzed, and VHCF tests were performed. Some fatigue cracks were found to be initiated in the gaps between inclusions(Al2 O3, Mg O-Al2 O3) and the matrix, while other cracks originated from the interior of inclusions(Ti N, Mn S). To explain the related mechanism, the tessellated stresses between inclusions and the matrix were calculated and compared with the yield stress of the matrix. Results revealed that the inclusions could be classified into two types under VHCF; of these two, only one type could be regarded as holes. | 10 | Effect of Ca-Fe oxides additives on NOx reduction in iron ore sintering显示文摘As the emission control regulations get stricter,the NO_x reduction in the sintering process becomes an important environmental concern owing to its role in the formation of photochemical smog and acid rain.The NOxemissions from the sintering machine account for 48% of total amount from the iron and steel industry.Thus,it is essential to reduce NO_x emissions from the sintering machine,for the achievement of clean production of sinter.Ca-Fe oxides,serving as the main binding phase in the sinter,are therefore used as additives into the sintering mixture to reduce NOxemissions.The results show that the NO_x reduction ratio achieves 27.76% with 8% Ca-Fe oxides additives since the Ca-Fe oxides can advance the ignition and inhibit the nitrogen oxidation compared with the conventional condition.Meanwhile,the existence of Ca-Fe oxides was beneficial to the sinter quality since they were typical low melting point compounds.The optimal mass fraction of Ca-Fe oxides additives should be less than 8%since the permeability of sintering bed was significantly decreased with a further increase of the Ca-Fe oxides fines,inhibiting the mineralization reaction of sintering mixture.Additionally,the appropriate particle size can be obtained when mixing an equal amount of Ca-Fe oxides additives of-0.5 mm and 0.5-3.0 mm in size. | Zhi-yuan Yu Xiao-hui Fan Min Gan Xu-ling Chen | 2017 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2017,24,12: | 10 |

Owing to the induction heating of a high frequency electromagnetic field (20 kHz), the thickness of initial solidification shell decreases, and the temperature of strand surface and slit copper mold increases when compared with the case without the electromagnetic filed. The viscosity of flux decreases because of the induction heating of the high frequency electromagnetic field, and the dimension of the flux channel increases with electromagnetic pressure; thus, the deformation behavior of initial solidification shell was different before and after the action of high frequency electromagnetic field. | 14 | Comparison of peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness between myopia severity groups and controls显示文摘AIM: To compare the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL) thickness measured via optical coherence tomography(OCT) between different groups of myopia severity and controls. METHODS: This was a prospective cross-sectional study. All subjects underwent a full ophthalmic examination, refraction, visual field analysis and A-scan biometry. Myopic patients were classified as low myopia(LM) [spherical equivalent(SE) from greater than-0.5 D, up to-3.0 D], moderate myopia(MM; SE greater than-3.0 D, up to-6.0 D) and high myopia(HM; SE greater than-6.0 D). The control group consisted of emmetropic(EM) patients(SE from +0.5 D to-0.5 D). A Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT machine was used to measure the peripapillary RNFL thickness of both eyes of each subject. The mean peripapillary RNFL thickness between groups was compared using both analysis of variance and analysis of covariance.RESULTS: A total of 403 eyes of 403 subjects were included in this study. The mean age was 31.48±10.23 y. There were 180(44.7%) eyes with EM, 124(30.8%) with LM, 73(18.1%) with MM and 26(6.5%) with HM. All groups of myopia severity had a thinner average RNFL than the EM group, but after controlling for gender, age, and axial eye length, only the HM group differed significantly from the EM group(P=0.017). Likewise, the superior, inferior and nasal RNFL was thinner in all myopia groups compared to controls, but after controlling for confounders, only the inferior quadrant RNFL was significantly thinner in the HM group, when compared to the EM group(P=0.017). CONCLUSION: The average and inferior quadrant RNFL is thinner in highly myopic eyes compared to emmetropic eyes. | 17 | Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on the drought resistance of the mining area repair plant Sainfoin显示文摘To solve the problem of lack of water in arid areas and barren soil in the process of ecological restoration,the growth and drought resistance of Sainfoin(Onobrychis viciifolia Scop.) was studied by inoculation of AMF(arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi), under drought stress. The results show that the inoculation of AMF can significantly improve the growth and mycorrhizal infection rate of Sainfoin and accelerate the absorption of water and nutrients by the roots compared with uninoculated plants. On the 40 th day under drought stress, the relative water content, total nitrogen and total phosphorus content of the leaves of inoculated plants increased by 7.27%, 4.21% and 2.40%, respectively, the osmotic adjustment property in plant cells was improved, the protective enzyme system was improved and membrane lipid peroxidation was reduced. | 18 | Immobilization of acetylcholinesterase on one-dimensional gold nanoparticles for detection of organophosphorous insecticides显示文摘This paper reports a simple method for immobilization of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) on one-dimensional (1D) gold (Au) nanoparticles for detection of organophosphorous (OP) insecticides. 1D Au nanoparticles were prepared by electrodeposition in the pores of an alumina template which was subsequently removed by 2.0 M NaOH solution. They were characterized by XRD and FESEM. The immobilized AChE retained its biological activity and catalyzed the hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine to form thiocholine, which was subsequently oxidized to produce detectable signals. Based on the inhibition toward the enzymatic activity of AChE by OP insecticides, sensitive detection of methamidophos (an OP insecticide) was performed. Under optimal conditions, the sensors could be used for the determination of methamidophos ranging from 0.004 to 24 μg/mL with the detection limit of 0.001 μg/mL. The developed OP insecticide biosensors exhibited satisfactory stability and reproducibility. | 19 | Tweezing and manipulating micro- and nanoparticles by optical nonlinear endoscopy显示文摘The precise control and manipulation of micro-and nanoparticles using an optical endoscope are potentially important in biomedical studies,bedside diagnosis and treatment in an aquatic internal organ environment,but they have not yet been achieved.Here,for the first time,we demonstrate optical nonlinear endoscopic tweezers(ONETs)for directly controlling and manipulating aquatic micro-and nanobeads as well as gold nanorods.It is found that two-photon absorption can enhance the trapping force on fluorescent nanobeads by up to four orders of magnitude compared with dielectric nanobeads of the same size.More importantly,two-photon excitation leads to a plasmon-mediated optothermal attracting force on nanorods,which can extend far beyond the focal spot.This new phenomenon facilitates a snowball effect that allows the fast uploading of nanorods to a targeted cell followed by thermal treatment within 1 min.As two-photon absorption allows an operation wavelength at the center of the transmission window of human tissue,our work demonstrates that ONET is potentially an unprecedented tool for precisely specifying the location and dosage of drug particles and for rapidly uploading metallic nanoparticles to individual cancer cells for treatment. | Min Gu Hongchun Bao Xiaosong Gan Nicholas Stokes Jingzhi Wu | 2014 | Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1: | 5 |
