| 1 | Genotyping-by-sequencing application on diploid rose and a resulting high-density SNP-based consensus map显示文摘Roses,which have been cultivated for at least 5000 years,are one of the most important ornamental crops in the world.Because of the interspecific nature and high heterozygosity in commercial roses,the genetic resources available for rose are limited.To effectively identify markers associated with QTL controlling important traits,such as disease resistance,abundant markers along the genome and careful phenotyping are required.Utilizing genotyping by sequencing technology and the strawberry genome(Fragaria vesca v2.0.a1)as a reference,we generated thousands of informative single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers.These SNPs along with known bridge simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers allowed us to create the first high-density integrated consensus map for diploid roses.Individual maps were first created for populations J06-20-14-3דLittle Chief”(J14-3×LC),J06-20-14-3דVineyard Song”(J14-3×VS)and“Old Blush”דRed Fairy”(OB×RF)and these maps were linked with 824 SNPs and 13 SSR bridge markers.The anchor SSR markers were used to determine the numbering of the rose linkage groups.The diploid consensus map has seven linkage groups(LGs),a total length of 892.2 cM,and an average distance of 0.25 cM between 3527 markers.By combining three individual populations,the marker density and the reliability of the marker order in the consensus map was improved over a single population map.Extensive synteny between the strawberry and diploid rose genomes was observed.This consensus map will serve as the tool for the discovery of marker–trait associations in rose breeding using pedigree-based analysis.The high level of conservation observed between the strawberry and rose genomes will help further comparative studies within the Rosaceae family and may aid in the identification of candidate genes within QTL regions. | Muqing Yan David H.Byrne Patricia E.Klein Jizhou Yang Qianni Dong Natalie Anderson | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 6 |

| 3 | Numerical simulation of Gurney flap on SFYT15thick airfoil显示文摘A two-dimensional steady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes(RANS) equation was solved to investigate the effects of a Gurney flap on SFYT15 thick airfoil aerodynamic performance. This airfoil was designed for flight vehicle operating at 20 km altitude with freestream velocity of 25 m/s. The chord length(C) is5 m and the Reynolds number based on chord length is Re = 7.76 × 105. Gurney flaps with the heights ranging from 0.25%C to 3%C were investigated. The shear stress transport(SST) k-ω turbulence model was used to simulate the flow structure around the airfoil. It is showed that Gurney flap can enhance not only the prestall lift but also lift-to-drag ratio in a certain range of angles of attack. Specially, at cruise angle of attack(α = 3°), Gurney flap with 0.5%C height can increase lift-to-drag ratio by 2.7%, and lift coefficient by 12.9%, respectively. Furthermore, the surface pressure distribution, streamlines and trailing-edge flow structure around the airfoil are illustrated, which are helpful to understand the mechanisms of Gurney flap on airfoil aerodynamic performance. | 4 | A high-quality genome assembly of Morinda officinalis,a famous native southern herb in the Lingnan region of southern China显示文摘Morinda officinalis is a well-known medicinal and edible plant that is widely cultivated in the Lingnan region of southern China.Its dried roots(called bajitian in traditional Chinese medicine)are broadly used to treat various diseases,such as impotence and rheumatism.Here,we report a high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly of M.officinalis using Nanopore single-molecule sequencing and Hi-C technology.The assembled genome size was 484.85Mb with a scaffold N50 of 40.97 Mb,and 90.77%of the assembled sequences were anchored on eleven pseudochromosomes.The genome includes 27,698 protein-coding genes,and most of the assemblies are repetitive sequences.Genome evolution analysis revealed that M.officinalis underwent core eudicotγgenome triplication events but no recent whole-genome duplication(WGD).Likewise,comparative genomic analysis showed no large-scale structural variation after species divergence between M.officinalis and Coffea canephora.Moreover,gene family analysis indicated that gene families associated with plant–pathogen interactions and sugar metabolism were significantly expanded in M.officinalis.Furthermore,we identified many candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of major active components such as anthraquinones,iridoids and polysaccharides.In addition,we also found that the DHQS,GGPPS,TPS-Clin,TPS04,sacA,and UGDH gene families—which include the critical genes for active component biosynthesis—were expanded in M.officinalis.This study provides a valuable resource for understanding M.officinalis genome evolution and active component biosynthesis.This work will facilitate genetic improvement and molecular breeding of this commercially important plant. | Jihua Wang Shiqiang Xu Yu Mei Shike Cai Yan Gu Minyang Sun Zhan Liang Yong Xiao Muqing Zhang Shaohai Yang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4 |

The chord length(C) of this airfoil is 5 m and the corresponding Reynolds number is 7.76×10~5. Gurney flaps with the heights ranging from 0.25%C to3%C were investigated. It has been shown that Gurney flaps can enhance not only the prestall lift but also lift-to-drag ratio in a certain range of angles of attack. Specially, at cruise angle of attack(3°), Gurney flap with the height of 0.5%C.can increase lift-to-drag ratio and lift coefficient by 1.6% and 12.8%, respectively. Furthermore, the mechanisms of Gurney flaps to improve the aerodynamic performance were illustrated by analyzing the surface pressure distribution, streamlines and trailing-edge flow structure for this low Reynolds number airfoil. Specially, distinguished from some other numerical researches, the flow details such as the laminar separation bubble and transition phenomena for low Reynolds number airfoil with Gurney flaps were investigated and it was found that Gurney flaps can delay the transition onset position at small angles of attack(≤2°).
