| 1 | Five Colletotrichum species are responsible for mango anthracnose in northeastern Brazil显示文摘Colletotrichum species are the most important and widespread form of decay affecting mango fruit worldwide.In this study,Colletotrichum species associated with fruit anthracnose isolated from mango in northeastern Brazil were subject to molecular and morphological analyses.The partial sequences of the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase gene of 143 Colletotrichum isolates was amplified,as an initial measure of genetic diversity.A subset of 47 isolates,selected to represent the range of genetic diversity and geographic origin,were further sequenced using the partial actin,β-tubulin,calmodulin,glutamine synthetase genes and rDNA-ITS region.The multilocus sequence analysis,together with a critical examination of the phenotypic characters,revealed four previously described species(Colletotrichum asianum,Colletotrichum fructicola,Colletotrichum tropicale and Colletotrichum karstii)and one new species.The new species is introduced as Colletotrichum dianesei and formally described,illustrated and compared with similar taxa.Only C.asianum and C.karstii have previously been reported from mango,while the other species represent the first report associated with the mango fruits worldwide.All species are reported for the first time associated with the mango fruits in Brazil. | Nelson B.Lima Marcus Vinicius de A.Batista Marcos A.De Morais Jr Maria A.G.Barbosa Sami J.Michereff Kevin D.Hyde Marcos P.S.Câmara | 2013 | Fungal Diversity2013，，4： | 7 |
| 2 | Comparison of stem taper models for the four tropical tree species in Mount Makiling, Philippines显示文摘This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of six stem taper models on four tropical tree species, namely Celtis luzonica(Magabuyo),Diplodiscus paniculatus(Balobo), Parashorea malaanonan(Bagtikan), and Swietenia macrophylla(Mahogany) in Mount Makiling Forest Reserve(MMFR), Philippines using fit statistics and lack-of-fit statistics. Four statistical criteria were used in this study, including the standard error of estimate(SEE),coefficient of determination(R^2), mean bias( E),and absolute mean difference(AMD). For the lack-offit statistics, SEE, E and AMD were determined in different relative height classes. The results indicated that the Kozak02 stem taper model offered the best fit for the four tropical species in most statistics. The Kozak02 model also consistently provided the best performance in the lack-of-fit statistics with the best SEE, E and AMD in most of the relative height classes. | 3 | Animal models of ex vivo lung perfusion as a platform for transplantation research显示文摘Ex vivo lung perfusion(EVLP) is a powerful experimental model for isolated lung research. EVLP allows for the lungs to be manipulated and characterized in an external environment so that the effect of specific ventilation/perfusion variables can be studied independent of other confounding physiologic contributions. At the same time,EVLP allows for normal organ level function and real-time monitoring of pulmonary physiology and mechanics. As a result,this technique provides uniqueadvantages over in vivo and in vitro models. Small and large animal models of EVLP have been developed and each of these models has their strengths and weaknesses. | 4 | Species of Lasiodiplodia associated with mango in Brazil显示文摘Mango(Mangifera indica)is a major tropical fruit species cultivated in Brazil.The objective of this study was to identify species of Lasiodiplodia associated with dieback and stem-end rot of mango in the semi-arid region of Northeastern Brazil,and compare the species in relation to mycelial growth,pathogenicity and virulence.A total of 120 isolates of Lasiodiplodia were used and identifications were made using a combination of morphology and phylogenetic analysis based on partial translation elongation factor 1-αsequence(EF1-α)and internal transcribed spacers(ITS).The following species were identified:Lasiodiplodia crassispora,L.egyptiacae,L.hormozganensis,L.iraniensis,L.pseudotheobromae,L.theobromae and Lasiodiplodia sp..Lasiodiplodia theobromae was the most frequently isolated species,which represented 41%of all the isolates.Only this species had been previously reported on mango in Brazil,while the other species represent the first report associated with mango tree diseases in this country.Lasiodiplodia crassispora is reported for the first time associated with mango diseases worldwide.There were significant differences in mycelial growth rates among the Lasiodiplodia species and also in the optimum temperature for growth.All species of Lasiodiplodia were pathogenic on mango fruit.There were significant differences in virulence among the species,wherein L.hormozganensis and Lasiodiplodia sp.were the most virulent,while the least virulent were L.iraniensis,L.pseudotheobromae,L.crassispora and L.egyptiacae. | Marília W.Marques Nelson B.Lima Marcos Antônio de Morais Jr Maria Angélica G.Barbosa Breno O.Souza Sami J.Michereff Alan J.L.Phillips Marcos P.S.Câmara | 2013 | Fungal Diversity2013，，4： | 2 |
