1Endoscopic submucosal dissection of gastric tumors: A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM: To systematically review the medical literature in order to evaluate the safety and efficacy of gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD).METHODS: We performed a comprehensive literature search of MEDLINE, Ovid, CINAHL, and Cochrane for studies reporting on the clinical efficacy and safety profile of gastric ESD.RESULTS: Twenty-nine thousand five hundred and six tumors in 27155 patients(31% female) who underwent gastric ESD between 1999 and 2014 were included in this study. R0 resection rate was 90%(95%CI: 87%-92%) with significant between-study heterogeneity(P < 0.001) which was partly explained by difference in region(P = 0.02) and sample size(P = 0.04). Endoscopic en bloc and curative resection rates were 94%(95%CI: 93%-96%) and 86%(95%CI: 83%-89%) respectively. The rate of immediate and delayed perforation rates were 2.7%(95%CI: 2.1%-3.3%) and 0.39%(95%CI: 0.06%-2.4%) respectively while rates of immediate and delayed major bleeding were 2.9%(95%CI: 1.3-6.6) and 3.6%(95%CI: 3.1%-4.3%). After an average follow-up of about 30 mo post-operative, the rate of tumor recurrence was 0.02%(95%CI: 0.001-1.4) among those with R0 resection and 7.7%(95%CI: 3.6%-16%) among those without R0 resection. 3利用基因编辑技术研究BRANCHED1参与油菜分枝过程的调控显示文摘植物的株型决定于其分枝方式,而改良分枝方式是提高作物产量的有效方式之一。目前关于油菜分枝调控的分子机理研究较少,缺乏用于株型改良的种质资源。本研究以油菜BRANCHED1(BRC1)为目的基因,利用CRISPR/Cas9基因编辑技术靶向突变油菜BRC1基因,通过农杆菌介导的遗传转化获得再生苗,PCR技术筛选出转基因阳性单株,再利用Hi-TOM方法进行靶点突变基因型的测序分析,证实基因编辑产生的定点突变可稳定遗传。最后对获得的突变体进行表型观察发现,BRC1的BnaC01g34090D和BnaA01g26700D的双拷贝纯合突变体表现出明显的多分枝表型,研究结果表明BnaBRC1参与油菜中的分枝和株型调控,为后续研究油菜的株型调控分子机理提供了重要研究材料。Olalekan Amoo 胡利民 翟云孤 范楚川 周永明 2022生物技术通报2022,38,4:4
4Catalytic activities of ultra-small β-FeOOH nanorods in ozonation of 4-chlorophenol显示文摘We report the catalytic properties of ultra-small β-FeOOH nanorods in ozonation of4-chlorophenol(4-CP). XRD, TEM, EDS, SAED, FTIR and BET were used to characterize the prepared material. Interaction between O3 and β-FeOOH was evident from the FTIR spectra.The removal efficiency of 4-CP was significantly enhanced in the presence of β-FeOOH compared to ozone alone. Removal efficiency of 99% and 67% was achieved after 40 min in the presence of combined ozone and catalyst and ozone only, respectively. Increasing catalyst load increased COD removal efficiency. Maximum COD removal of 97% was achieved using a catalyst load of 0.1 g/100 m L of 4-CP solution. Initial 4-CP concentration was not found to be rate limiting below 2 × 10-3mol/L. The catalytic properties of the material during ozonation process were found to be pronounced at lower initial p H of 3.5.Two stage first order kinetics was applied to describe the kinetic behavior of the nanorods at low p H. 6Phenolics extract of Tetrapleura tetraptera fruit inhibits xanthine oxidase and Fe^2+-induced lipid peroxidation in the kidney,liver,and lungs tissues of rats in vitro显示文摘The phenolics composition and inhibitory activity of Tetrapleura tetraptera fruit extract on xanthine oxidase(XO)and Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation in the kidney,liver and lungs tissues of rats were evaluated in vitro.Phenolics(flavonoids and phenolic acids)were quantified using reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatrography coupled with diode array detection(HPLC-DAD).The XO and Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation inhibitory abilities of the extract were evaluated using spectrophotometric methods.The extract contained some flavonoids and phenolic acids,including catechin,epicatechin,rutin,quercetin,luteolin,apigenin;gallic,chlorogenic,caffeic and ellagic acids that are beneficial to health.The extract inhibited XO in the kidney,liver and lungs tissues in a dose-dependent manner.The half-maximal inhibitory concentrations(IC50)of the extract on XO from the tissues varied significantly(P<0.05),and were in the order of liver>kidney>lungs.The extract also inhibited Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation in a dose-dependent pattern,having IC50 in the order of liver>lungs>kidney.T.tetraptera fruit extract could be a promising nutraceutical for preventing and managing hyperuricaemia and the associated disease conditions,due to its ability to inhibit XO;this bioactivity is attributable to combined effect of its flavonoids and phenolic acids.Emmanuel Anyachukwu Irondi Ganiyu Oboh Samson Olalekan Agboola Aline Augusti Boligon Margareth Linde Athayde 2016Food Science and Human Wellness2016,5,1:3
7Saponins as adipokines modulator: A possible therapeutic intervention for type 2 diabetes显示文摘Development of type 2 diabetes has been linked to β-cell failure coupled with insulin resistance and obesity. Adipose tissue, known as the fat store, secretes a number of hormones and proteins collectively termed adipokines some of which regulate insulin sensitivity. Dysregulation in the secretion of adipokines has been linked to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. 15Impact of body fat changes in mediating the effects of antiretroviral therapy on blood pressure in HIV-infected persons in a sub-Saharan African setting显示文摘Background:Previous studies of HIV-infected patients have shown significant associations between highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART)and increased blood pressure;however,the mechanisms involved are less clear.Therefore,we sought to investigate the potential impact of body fat changes in mediating the effects of HAART on blood pressure changes among people living with HIV.Methods:Four hundred six consenting patients(≥18 years of age)attending a tertiary HIV clinic in semi-urban Nigeria were recruited between August and November 2014 as part of a cross-sectional study.We performed bias-corrected bootstrap tests of mediation using 95%confidence intervals(CI)to determine the mediating effects of body mass index and waist circumference(mediators)on the total effects of HAART exposure(primary predictor)on blood pressure(outcome),while controlling for age,sex and other potential confounders.Results:Waist circumference remained a significant partial mediator of the total effects of HAART exposure on increasing systolic blood pressure(coefficient:1.01,95%CI:0.33 to 2.52,11%mediated)and diastolic blood pressure(coefficient:0.68,95%CI:0.26 to 1.89,9%mediated)after adjusting for age,sex,smoking status,CD4 count and duration of HIV infection.No significant mediating effect was observed with body mass index alone or in combination with waist circumference after adjusting for all potential confounders.Conclusion:Waist circumference significantly mediates the effects of HAART on blood pressure in persons living with HIV,independent of the role of traditional risk factors.The use of waist circumference as a complementary body fat measure to body mass index may improve the clinical prediction of hypertension in HIV-infected patients on antiretroviral therapy.Chidozie U.Nduka Olalekan A.Uthman Peter K.Kimani Abraham O.Malu Saverio Stranges 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:1

19Larval habitats of mosquito fauna in Osogbo metropolis,Southwestern Nigeria显示文摘Objective:To determine the larval habitats of mosquito fauna and possible impact of land use/land cover changes on the epidemiology of mosquito-bome diseases in Osogbo metropolis,Southwestern,Nigeria.Methods:All accessible larval habitats were surveyed between May and September,2011in Osogbo metropolis while Land Use/Land cover of the city was analyzed using 2 Lansat Multispectral Scanner satellite imagery of SPOT 1986 and T.ANDSAT TM 2009.Results:A total of six species namely,Aedes aegypti,Aedes albopictus,Aedes vittatus,Anopheles gambiae complex,Culex quinquefascialus and Erelmapodite chrysogaster were encountered during the study.The occurrence and contribution of disused tyres was significantly higher(P<0.05)than the other habitats encountered,while there were no significant differences in the contribution of gutters/run-offs.septic tanks/drums,ground pools/open drains and discarded containers lo the breeding of mosquitoes(P>0.05).The accessible land use/land covered of the study area between 1986 and 2009 showed that the wet land coverage and settlement area increased from 0.19 lo 9.09 hectare and 1.00 to 2.01 hectare respectively while the forest area decreased from 60.18 to 50.14 hectare.Conclusion:The contribution of the habitats coupled with the increasing rale of flooded environment which could provide ample breeding sites for mosquitoes call for sustained environmental sanitation and management in Osogbo metropolis.Monsuru Adebayo Adeleke Wasiu Olalekan Adebimpe Abdulwasiu Oladele Hassan Sunday Olukayode Oladejo IsmailOlaoye Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde Taiwo Adewole 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,9:1
