1Exercise as a prescription for patients with various diseases显示文摘A growing understanding of the benefits of exercise over the past few decades has prompted researchers to take an interest in the possibilities of exercise therapy.Because each sport has its own set of characteristics and physiological complications that tend to occur during exercise training,the effects and underlying mechanisms of exercise remain unclear.Thus,the first step in probing the effects of exercise on different diseases is the selection of an optimal exercise protocol.This review summarizes the latest exercise prescription treatments for 26 different diseases:musculoskeletal system diseases(low back pain,tendon injury,osteoporosis,osteoarthritis,and hip fracture),metabolic system diseases(obesity,type 2 diabetes,type 1 diabetes,and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease),cardio-cerebral vascular system diseases(coronary artery disease,stroke,and chronic heart failure),nervous system diseases(Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease,Alzheimer’s disease,depression,and anxiety disorders),respiratory system diseases(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,interstitial lung disease,and after lung transplantation),urinary system diseases(chronic kidney disease and after kidney transplantation),and cancers(breast cancer,colon cancer,prostate cancer,and lung cancer).Each exercise prescription is displayed in a corresponding table.The recommended type,intensity,and frequency of exercise prescriptions are summarized,and the effects of exercise therapy on the prevention and rehabilitation of different diseases are discussed.Xin Luan Xiangyang Tian Haixin Zhang Rui Huang Na Li Peijie Chen Ru Wang 2019Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,5:61
2Coronavirus disease(COVID-19):The need to maintain regular physical activity while taking precautions显示文摘The on-going Coronavirus disease(COVID-19)outbreak in China has become the world's leading health headline and is causing major panic and public concerns.On January 30,2020,the World Health Organization(WHO)declared that the new coronavirus outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern.1 The virus has already had a direct impact on more than 10 million people in the city of Wuhan and has reached other parts of China as well,posing a health threat of unknown magnitude globally.As of February 8,2020,WHO reported 34,886 confirmed cases of COVID-19 globally,with 34,589 of them occurring in China(including 6101 severe cases and 723 deaths).A total of 288 other confirmed cases(with 1 death)have been reported in 24 countries,including Japan,Australia,Germany,and United States.2 However,these daily estimates are expected to rise even higher as reports from health authorities in China3 are gathered and near real-time updates of the Johns Hopkins virus dashboard are made 4 The outbreak has caused governments in various countries to take swift and protective measures.In China,these included putting cities on lockdown,5 implementing travel wamings/bans and cancellations,6 extending national holidays,and closing schools and postponing classes7.Peijie Chen Lijuan Mao George P.Nassis Peter Harmer Barbara E.Ainsworth Fuzhong Li 2020Journal of Sport and Health Science2020,9,2:15

4Remotely excited Raman optical activity using chiral plasmon propagation in Ag nanowires显示文摘We experimentally investigated remotely excited Raman optical activity(ROA)using propagating surface plasmons in chiral Ag nanowires.Using chiral fmoc-glycyl-glycine-OH(FGGO)molecules,we first studied the local surface plasmon-enhanced ROA.We found that the Raman intensity can be excited by left-and right-circularly polarized lights and that the circular intensity difference(CID)can be significantly enhanced.Second,by selecting vibrational modes with large Raman and ROA intensities that are not influenced by chemical enhancements,we studied remotely excited ROA imaging and the CID of FGGO molecules by propagating a plasmonic waveguide using Ag chiral nanostructures.When laser light was radiated on one of the Ag terminals,the measured CID of the FGG at the other terminal showed little change compared to the local excited CID.Meanwhile,when the laser light was radiated on the Ag nanowires(not on the terminals)and was coupled to the nearby nanoantenna,the CID of the ROA could be manipulated by altering the coupling angle between the Ag nanowires.To directly demonstrate the propagation of ROA along the nanowire and its remote detection,we also measured the remotely excited ROA spectra.Our experimental method has the potential to remotely determine the chirality of molecular structures and the absolute configuration or conformation of a chiral live cell.Mengtao Sun Zhenglong Zhang Peijie Wang Qiang Li Fengcai Ma Hongxing Xu 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:7
5Engineering Mesoporous Structure in Amorphous Carbon Boosts Potassium Storage with High Initial Coulombic Efficiency显示文摘Amorphous carbon shows great potential as an anode material for high-performance potassium-ion batteries;however,its abundant defects or micropores generally capture K ions,thus resulting in high irreversible capacity with low initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)and limited practical application.Herein,pore engineering via a facile self-etching strategy is applied to achieve mesoporous carbon(meso-C)nanowires with interconnected framework.Abundant and evenly distributed mesopores could provide short K^+ pathways for its rapid diffusion.Compared to microporous carbon with highly disordered structure,the meso-C with Zn-catalyzed short-range ordered structure enables more K^+to reversibly intercalate into the graphitic layers.Consequently,the mesoC shows an increased capacity by ~100 mAh g^-1 at 0.1 A g^-1,and the capacity retention is 70.7% after 1000 cycles at 1 A g^-1.Multiple in/ex situ characterizations reveal the reversible structural changes during the charging/discharging process.Particularly,benefiting from the mesoporous structure with reduced specific surface area by 31.5 times and less defects,the meso-C generates less irreversible capacity with high ICE up to 76.7%,one of the best reported values so far.This work provides a new perspective that mesopores engineering can effectively accelerate K^+ diffusion and enhance K^+ adsorption/intercalation storage.Ruiting Guo Xiong Liu Bo Wen Fang Liu Jiashen Meng Peijie Wu Jinsong Wu Qi Li Liqiang Mai 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,11:5
6Accurate assessment of antibiotic susceptibility and screening resistant strains of a bacterial population by linear gradient plate显示文摘The dynamics of a bacterial population exposed to theminimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of an antibiotic is an important issue in pharmacological research.Therefore,a novel antibiotic susceptibility test is urgently needed that can both precisely determine the MIC and accurately select antibiotic-resistant strains from clinical bacterial populations.For this purpose,we developed a method based on Fick's laws of diffusion using agar plates containing a linear gradient of antibiotic.The gradient plate contained two layers.The bottom layer consisted of 15 mL agar containing the appropriate concentration of enrofloxacin and allowed to harden in the form of a wedge with the plate slanted such that the entire bottom was just covered.The upper layer consisted of 15 mL plain nutrient agar added with the plate held in the horizontal position.After allowing vertical diffusion of the drug from the bottom agar layer for 12 h,the enrofloxacin concentration was diluted in proportion to the ratio of the agar layer thicknesses.The uniform linear concentration gradient was verified by measuring the enrofloxacin concentration on the agar surface.When heavy bacterial suspensions were spread on the agar surface and incubated for more than 12 h,only resistant cells were able to form colonies beyond the boundary of confluent growth of susceptible cells.In this way,the true MIC of enrofloxacin was determined.The MICs obtained using this linear gradient plate were consistent with those obtained using conventional antibiotic susceptibility tests.Discrete colonies were then spread onto a gradient plate with higher antibiotic concentrations;the boundary line increased significantly,and gene mutations conferring resistance were identified.This new method enables the rapid identification of resistant strains in the bacterial population.Use of the linear gradient plate can easily identify the precise MIC and reveal the dynamic differentiation of bacteria near the MIC.This method allows the study of genetic and physiological characteristics of individual strains,and may be useful for early warning of antibiotic resistance that may occur after use of certain antimicrobial agents,and guide clinical treatment.LIU YuQing LI JingRan DU JiaFa HU Ming BAI Hua QI Jing GAO Chao WEI TianTian SU Hong JIN JianLing GAO PeiJi 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,10:4
7Tuning charge density of chimeric antigen receptor optimizes tonic signaling and CAR-T cell fitness显示文摘Tonic signaling of chimeric antigen receptor(CAR),i.e.,the spontaneous CAR activation in the absence of tumor antigen stimulation,is considered to be a pivotal event controlling CAR-T efficacy.However,the molecular mechanism underlying the spontaneous CAR signals remains elusive.Here,we unveil that positively charged patches(PCPs)on the surface of the CAR antigenbinding domain mediate CAR clustering and result in CAR tonic signaling.For CARs with high tonic signaling(e.g.,GD2.CAR and CSPG4.CAR),reducing PCPs on CARs or boosting ionic strength in the culture medium during ex vivo CAR-T cell expansion minimizes spontaneous CAR activation and alleviates CAR-T cell exhaustion.In contrast,introducing PCPs into the CAR with weak tonic signaling,such as CD19.CAR,results in improved in vivo persistence and superior antitumor function.These results demonstrate that CAR tonic signaling is induced and maintained by PCP-mediated CAR clustering.Notably,the mutations we generated to alter the PCPs maintain the antigen-binding affinity and specificity of the CAR.Therefore,our findings suggest that the rational tuning of PCPs to optimize tonic signaling and in vivo fitness of CAR-T cells is a promising design strategy for the nextgeneration CAR.Jian Chen Shizhen Qiu Wentao Li Kun Wang Yu Zhang Han Yang Baichuan Liu Guangfei Li Li Li Min Chen Junjie Lan Jiahua Niu Peijie He Lei Cheng Gaofeng Fan Xin Liu Xianmin Song Chenqi Xu Haitao Wu Haopeng Wang 2023Cell Research2023,33,5:2
8On the Spectral Moments of Wind Waves显示文摘In order to obtain high order spectral moments, the residual moment M( ωn )i =∫ωn0ωiS(ω)dω, as proposed by Dehis, is presented for approximate estimation of spectral moment mi =∫m0ωiS(ω)dω. Glazman's partial averaging idea isdiscussed. It is pointed out that Glazman's method and definition of non-dimensional spectral moment can not be used to es-timate spectral moments for engineering purposes and that method is not supported by theory and computation. The non-di-mensional spectral moment of PM spectnun, which should be expressed as Mi = M(ωn ) i/ag2ω0i-p+1 , is related to wind speed. 9The characteristics of oasis urban expansion and drive mechanism analysis:a case study on Ganzhou District in Hexi Corridor,China显示文摘Ganzhou District is an oasis city in the Zhangye Municipality of Gansu Province,China.Based on multi-temporal TM and ETM satellite remote sensing data in 1985,1996,2000,and 2012,and by using corrected figures of land use status over the same periods,the spatial area of Ganzhou District since 1985 was extracted with statistical methods,and urban spatial expansion was measured by quantitative research methods.The characteristics of spatial expansion of Ganzhou District were analyzed by urban expansion rate,expansion intensity index,compactness,fractal dimension,and the city center shift method.The results showed that the built-up area of Ganzhou District increased by 3.46 times during 1985–2012.The expansion in 1985–1996 was slow,during 1996–2000 it was rapid,and during 2000–2012 it was at a high speed.This city mainly expanded to the northeast and northwest.Government decision making had a decisive influence on urban expansion.Initially the expansion was uniform,but later the local transportation,economy,resources,population,and national policies factors had an obvious influence on urban expansion.HuaLi Tong PeiJi Shi GuoFeng Zhu April Pearson QianGuo Li YuanFeng Liu HaiLong Liu 2015Research in Cold and Arid Regions2015,7,3:2

14Electron theory study on mechanism of action of cobaltin Fe-Co-Cr based high-alloy steel显示文摘The valence electron structure of martensite in Fe-Co-Cr based high-alloy steel is calculated using the em-pirical electron theory of solids and molecules (EET). The results show that the incorporation of cobalt leads to a rise in nA from 0.3835 to 0.4684, which enhances the bonding forces between atoms in a-Fe matrix.
