1Use of Biochar as an Amendment for Remediation of Heavy Metal-Contaminated Soils:Prospects and Challenges显示文摘Biochar(BC), known as the new black gold, is a stable, novel carbonaceous by-product that is synthesized through pyrolysis of biological materials in the absence of O_2.Recently, an emerging interest in the application of BC as a robust soil amendment has given rise to a broad research area in science and technology.It is considered a promising remediation option for heavy metal(HM)-contaminated soils to reduce HM bioavailability to plants.Remediation efficacy of BC depends on the porosity, composition,pyrolysis temperature, feedstock, and residence time of pyrolysis.This review article aimed to present an overview of BC use in the immobilization of HMs, i.e., Cd, As, Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu, Mn, Cr, and Sb, in contaminated soils.The remaining uncertain factors, including the specific soil HM immobilization mechanisms, long-term beneficial effects, and potential environmental risks associated with BC application are analyzed.Future research must be conducted to ensure that the management of environmental pollution is in accord with ecological sustainability and adaptation of the black gold biotechnology on a commercial basis for immobilization of HMs in contaminated soils.Altaf Hussain LAHORI GUO Zhanyu ZHANG Zengqiang LI Ronghua Amanullah MAHAR Mukesh Kumar AWASTHI SHEN Feng Tanveer Ali SIAL Farhana KUMBHAR WANG Ping JIANG Shuncheng 2017Pedosphere2017,27,6:28

3A multi-locus backbone tree for Pestalotiopsis, with a polyphasic characterization of 14 new species显示文摘Pestalotiopsis is a taxonomically confused,pathogenic and chemically creative genus requiring a critical reexamination using a multi-gene phylogeny based on ex-type and ex-epitype cultures.In this study 40 isolates of Pestalotiopsis,comprised of 28 strains collected from living and dead plant material of various host plants from China were studied by means of morphology and analysis of ITS,β–tubulin and tef1 gene sequence data.Based on molecular and morphological data we describe 14 new species(Pestalotiopsis asiatica,P.chinensis,P.chrysea,P.clavata,P.diversiseta,P.ellipsospora,P.inflexa,P.intermedia,P.linearis,P.rosea,P.saprophyta,P.umberspora,P.unicolor and P.verruculosa)and three species are epitypified(P.adusta,P.clavispora and P.foedans).Of the 10 gene regions(ACT,β-tubulin,CAL,GPDH,GS,ITS,LSU,RPB 1,SSU and tef1)utilized to resolve cryptic Pestalotiopsis species,ITS,β–tubulin and tef1 proved to be the better markers.The other gene regions were less useful due to poor success in PCR amplification and/or in their ability to resolve species boundaries.As a single gene tef1 met the requirements for an ideal candidate and functions well for species delimitation due to its better species resolution and PCR success.Althoughβ-tubulin showed fairly good differences among species,a combination of ITS,β-tubulin and tef1 gene data gave the best resolution as compared to single gene analysis.This work provides a backbone tree for 22 ex-type/epitypified species of Pestalotiopsis and can be used in future studies of the genus.Sajeewa S.N.Maharachchikumbura Liang Dong Guo Lei Cai Ekachai Chukeatirote Wen Ping Wu Xiang Sun Pedro W.Crous D.Jayarama Bhat Eric H.C.McKenzie Ali H.Bahkali Kevin D.Hyde 2012Fungal Diversity2012,,5:9
4β-Ga_2O_3 thin film grown on sapphire substrate by plasmaassisted molecular beam epitaxy显示文摘Monoclinic gallium oxide(Ga_2O_3) has been grown on(0001) sapphire(Al_2O_3) substrate by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PA-MBE). The epitaxial relationship has been confirmed to be [010]( 2ˉ01) β-Ga_2O_3||[ 011ˉ0](0001)Al_2O_3 via in-situ reflection high energy electron diffraction(RHEED) monitoring and ex-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD) measurement. Crystalline quality is improved and surface becomes flatter with increasing growth temperature, with a best full width at half maximum(FWHM) of XRD ω-rocking curve of( 2ˉ01) plane and root mean square(RMS) roughness of 0.68° and 2.04 nm for the sample grown at 730 °C,respectively. 6Mycoremediation of Potentially Toxic Trace Elements--a Biological Tool for Soil Cleanup:A Review显示文摘Anthropogenic and geogenic activities release potentially toxic trace elements(PTEs) that impact human health and the environment. Increasing environmental pollution stresses the need for environmentally friendly remediation technologies. Physico-chemical treatments are effective, but are costly and generate secondary pollution on-or off-site. Phytoremediation is a biological treatment that provides positive results for PTE eradication with few limitations. Mycoremediation, a type of bioremediation to use macrofungi(mushrooms) for PTE extraction from polluted sites, is the best option for soil cleanup. This review highlights the scope, mechanisms,and potentials of mycoremediation. Mushrooms produce a variety of extracellular enzymes that degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs), pesticides, dyes, and petroleum hydrocarbons into simpler compounds. Cadmium(Cd), lead(Pb), mercury(Hg), chromium(Cr), copper(Cu), zinc(Zn), and iron(Fe) have been effectively extracted by Phellinus badius, Amanita spissa, Lactarius piperatus, Suillus grevillei, Agaricus bisporous, Tricholoma terreum, and Fomes fomentarius, respectively. Mycoremediation is affected by environmental and genetic factors, such as p H, substrate, mycelium age, enzyme type,and ecology. The bioaccumulation factor(BAF) can make clear the effectiveness of a mushroom for the extraction of PTEs from the substrate. 12Fungal diversity notes 253-366:taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions to fungal taxa显示文摘Notes on 113 fungal taxa are compiled in this paper,including 11 new genera,89 new species,one new subspecies,three new combinations and seven reference specimens.Awide geographic and taxonomic range of fungal taxa are detailed.In the Ascomycota the new genera Angustospora(Testudinaceae),Camporesia(Xylariaceae),Clematidis,Crassiparies(Pleosporales genera incertae sedis),Farasanispora,Longiostiolum(Pleosporales genera incertae sedis),Multilocularia(Parabambusicolaceae),Neophaeocryptopus(Dothideaceae),Parameliola(Pleosporales genera incertae sedis),and Towyspora(Lentitheciaceae)are introduced.Newly introduced species are 18Higher Order OAM Mode Generation Using Wearable Antenna for 5G NR Bands显示文摘This paper presents a flexible and wearable textile array antenna designed to generate Orbital Angular Momentum(OAM)waves with Mode+2 at 3.5 GHz(3.4 to 3.6 GHz)of the sub-6 GHz fifth-generation(5G)New Radio(NR)band.The proposed antenna is based on a uniform circular array of eight microstrip patch antennas on a felt textile substrate.In contrast to previous works involving the use of rigid substrates to generate OAM waves,this work explored the use of flexible substrates to generate OAM waves for the first time.Other than that,the proposed antenna was simulated,analyzed,fabricated,and tested to confirm the generation of OAMMode+2.With the same design,OAM Mode−2 can be generated readily simply by mirror imaging the feed network.Note that the proposed antenna operated at the desired frequency of 3.5 GHz with an overall bandwidth of 400 MHz in free space.Moreover,mode purity analysis is carried out to verify the generation of OAM Mode+2,and the purity obtained was 41.78%at free space flat condition.Furthermore,the effect of antenna bending on the purity of the generated OAM mode is also investigated.Lastly,the influence of textile properties on OAM modes is examined to assist future researchers in choosing suitable fabrics to design flexible OAM-based antennas.After a comprehensive analysis considering different factors related to wearable applications,this paper demonstrates the feasibility of generating OAMwaves using textile antennas.Furthermore,as per the obtained Specific Absorption Rate(SAR),it is found that the proposed antenna is safe to be deployed.The findings of this work have a significant implication for body-centric communications.Shehab Khan Noor Arif Mawardi Ismail Mohd Najib Mohd Yasin Mohamed Nasrun Osman Thennarasan Sabapathy Shakhirul Mat Salleh Ping Jack Soh Ali Hanafiah Rambe Nurulazlina Ramli 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,47,10:0
