1De novo characterization of the root transcriptome of a traditional Chinese medicinal plant Polygonum cuspidatum显示文摘Various active components have been extracted from the root of Polygonum cuspidatum.However,the genetic basis for their activity is virtually unknown.In this study,25600002 short reads (2.3 Gb) of P.cuspidatum root transcriptome were obtained via Illumina HiSeq 2000 sequencing.A total of 86418 unigenes were assembled de novo and annotated.Twelve,18,60 and 54 unigenes were respectively mapped to the mevalonic acid (MVA),methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP),shikimate and resveratrol biosynthesis pathways,suggesting that they are involved in the biosynthesis of pharmaceutically important anthraquinone and resveratrol.Eighteen potential UDP-glycosyltransferase unigenes were identified as the candidates most likely to be involved in the biosynthesis of glycosides of secondary metabolites.Identification of relevant genes could be important in eventually increasing the yields of the medicinally useful constituents of the P.cuspidatum root.From the previously published transcriptome data of 19 non-model plant taxa,1127 shared orthologs were identified and characterized.This information will be very useful for future functional,phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of these plants.HAO DaCheng MA Pei MU Jun CHEN ShiLin XIAO PeiGen PENG Yong HUO Li XU LiJia SUN Chao 2012Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,5:36

4Pediatric reference intervals in China(PRINCE):design and rationale for a large,multicenter collaborative cross-sectional study显示文摘There is a lack of accurate pediatric reference intervals(RIs) in China, with most commonly used RIs established without consideration of the effect of age and gender. The Pediatric Reference Intervals in China(PRINCE) project aims to establish and verify pediatric RIs for 31 common laboratory measurands.The project will be a large, multicenter cross-sectional study:14,490 healthy children and adolescents aged up to 19 years will be surveyed by 10 children's hospitals and one pediatric department of a university hospital. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the study methods, 602 children were surveyed in the pilot phase of the PRINCE study in April 2017: it found that some measurands were distinctly age dependent and that there were differences between values for males and females. The results of the pilot study affirmed the necessity of the PRINCE project for Chinese pediatrics. The pilot also indicated potential difficulties in the full survey, e.g., difficulties in recruiting children aged under 3 years and insufficient collection of blood samples from infants. 5Full-color quantum dots active matrix display fabricated by ink-jet printing显示文摘Making full-color active matrix display based on quantum dot light emitting diodes(AM-QLEDs) via ink-jet printing is attractive in display industry due to QLEDs' wide color gamut and their potential manufacturing advantages of large screen size and low cost. The challenges for realizing AM-QLED display are how to achieve high quality films through ink-jet printing, multi-color patterning, electroluminescence(EL) color purity, and high efficiency. Herein, a 2-inch diagonal full-color AM-QLEDs display with pixel density of 120 pixels per inch(PPI) fabricated by ink-jet printing technique is presented. Driven by a metal oxide TFT(MOTFT) back-panel, the display exhibits a maximum brightness of 400 cd m.2, and a color gamut of 109%(NTSC 1931). The red, green, and blue(RGB) monochrome QLEDs passive matrix panels fabricated by ink-jet printing technique have a current efficiency(CE) of 2.5, 13.9, and 0.30 cd A.1, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, the efficiencies are the highest among passive matrix QLEDs panels made by ink-jet printing technique. 6Semaphorin 4D and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α overexpression is related to prognosis in colorectal carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate semaphorin 4D(Sema4D)and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)expression in colorectal carcinoma and evaluate their clinicopathological and prognostic significance.METHODS:Eighty-six curatively resected colorectal carcinoma patients at different stages of disease were randomly selected from the group of patients who underwent surgery,and none of them received preoperative radiochemotherapy.Normal proximal adjacent bowel tissue,which served as an internal control,was obtained from 52 randomly selected patients.Immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze the expression of Sema4D and the tumor angiogenesisrelated protein HIF-1αin normal colorectal tissues and colorectal carcinoma tissues.The relationships between the expression and clinical characters and prognosis were analyzed.RESULTS:HIF-1αand Sema4D were positively expressed in 58%and 60%of colorectal carcinoma tissues,respectively.Significantly lower expression levels were observed in normal mucosa(8%and 12%,respectively).HIF-1αand Sema4D expression was closely correlated with histological tumor type,tumornode-metastasis(TNM)stage,and lymphatic metastasis(P<0.05),but not with age or tumor size(P>0.05).HIF-1αand Sema4D protein expression was significantly correlated with prognosis of colorectal carcinoma,as determined by Spearman rank correlation analysis(r=0.567;P<0.01).Multivariate Cox analysis revealed that only Sema4D expression played a significant role in predicting patient prognosis(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:These findings suggest that HIF-1αand Sema4D expression correlates with histological tumor type,TNM stage,and lymphatic metastasis in colorectal carcinoma and that Sema4D is a prognostic indicator of colorectal carcinoma.Jin-Shen Wang Chang-Qing Jing Ke-Shu Shan Yue-Zhi Chen Xiao-Bo Guo Zhi-Xin Cao Lin-Jun Mu Li-Pan Peng Ming-Liang Zhou Le-Ping Li 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,7:10
7Catalytic oxidation of benzene over nanostructured porous Co_3O_4-CeO_2 composite catalysts显示文摘Mesostructured Co3O4-CeO2 composite was found to be an effective catalytic material for the complete oxidation of benzene. The Co3O4-CeO2 catalysts with different Co/Ce ratios (mol/mol) were prepared via the nanocasting method and the mesostructure was replicated from two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal SBA-15 and three-dimensional (3D) cubic KIT-6 silicas, respectively. All the obtained Co3O4-CeO2 catalysts exhibited the similar symmetry with the parent silicas and well ordered mesostructures. The Co3O4- CeO2 catalysts with 2D mesostructure showed lower catalytic activities than the corresponding 3D materials. The Co3O4-CeO2 catalyst nanocasted from KIT-6 and with the Co/Ce ratio of 16/1 possessed the best catalytic benzene oxidation activity due to larger quantities of surface hydroxyl groups and surface oxygenated species. 8Interaction effect of nitrogen form and planting density on plant growth and nutrient uptake in maize seedlings显示文摘High planting density is essential to increasing maize grain yield.However,single plants suffer from insufficient light under high planting density.Ammonium(NH_4^+)assimilation consumes less energy converted from radiation than nitrateIt is hypothesized that a mixed NO_3~–/NH_4^+supply is more important to improving plant growth and population productivity under high vs.low planting density.Maize plants were grown under hydroponic conditions at two planting densities(low density:only).A significant interaction effect was found between planting density and N form on plant biomass.Compared to nitrate only,75/25NO_3~–/NH_4^+increased per-plant biomass by 44%under low density,but by 81%under high density.Treatment with 75/25NO_3~–/NH_4^+increased plant ATP,photosynthetic rate,and carbon amount per plant by 31,7,and 44%under low density,respectively,but by 51,23,and 95%under high density.Accordingly,carbon level per plant under 75/25NO_3~–/NH_4^+was improved,which increased leaf area,specific leaf weight and total root length,especially for high planting density,increased by 57,17 and 63%,respectively.Furthermore,under low density,75/25NO_3~–/NH_4^+increased nitrogen uptake rate,while under high density,75/25NO_3~–/NH_4^+increased nitrogen,phosphorus,copper and iron uptake rates.By increasing energy use efficiency,an optimum NO_3~–/NH_4^+ratio can improve plant growth and nutrient uptake efficiency,especially under high planting density.In summary,an appropriate supply of NH_4^+in addition to nitrate can greatly improve plant growth and promote population productivity of maize under high planting density,and therefore a mixed N form is recommended for high-yielding maize management in the field.WANG Peng WANG Zhang-kui SUN Xi-chao MU Xiao-huan CHEN Huan CHEN Fan-jun Yuan Li-xing MI Guo-hua 2019Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,5:8
9Effect of shrub-grass vegetation coverage and slope gradient on runoff and sediment yield under simulated rainfall显示文摘Evaluating the benefits of sediment and runoff reduction in different vegetation types is essential for studying the mechanisms of soil and water conservation on the Loess Plateau.The experiment was conducted in shrub-grass plots with nine levels of mixed vegetation coverage from 0%to 70%,three slopes(10,15,and 20)and two rainfall intensities(1.0 and 2.5 mm/min).The results showed that the vegetation coverage and slope gradient significantly affect runoff and sediment yield.Shrub-grass vegetation coverage had a significant effect on the runoff start-time,runoff flow velocity,runoff rate,and soil erosion rate on hillslopes.Mixed vegetation coverage could effectively delay the runoff starttime and decrease the runoff flow velocity.However,the effects of the slope gradient on runoff and sediment yield are opposite to those of vegetation coverage.Shrub-grass vegetation coverage could effectively increase runoff and sediment yield reduction benefits,while their benefits were affected by the rainfall intensity.At the 1.0 mm/min rainfall intensity,the reduction in the sediment production rate was greater than that under the 2.5 mm/min intensity.However,when the shrub-grass vegetation coverage exceeded 42%,the runoff reduction benefit was more obvious at higher rainfall intensities.The cumulative sediment yield increased with increasing cumulative runoff,and the rate of increase in the cumulative runoff was greater than that of the cumulative sediment yield with increasing of shrub-grass vegetation coverage.Moreover,there was a power function relationship between cumulative sediment yield and cumulative runoff yield(P<0.05).Our paper is expected to provide a good reference on the ecological environment and vegetation construction on the Loess Plateau.Dandan Han Jingcheng Deng Chaojun Gu Xingmin Mu Peng Gao Jianjian Gao 2021International Journal of Sediment Research2021,36,1:8
10Ambient levels of atmospheric carbonyls in Beijing during the 2008 Olympic Games显示文摘The measurements of atmospheric carbonyls concentrations in Beijing were conducted from 12 July to 8 October, 2008, covering the periods of the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. Six carbonyls, including formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetone, butyraldehyde, valeraldehyde, and hexaldehyde, were identified in all air samples. The total average concentrations of these carbonyls before, during, and after traffic restriction were (48.1 ± 15.2), (36.6 ± 14.5) and (23.4 ± 12.3) μg/m3, respectively. Compared with the period after traffic restriction, the distinct high concentrations of the carbonyls before and during traffic restriction were primarily ascribed to the remarkable contribution of photochemical reactions. With respect to our previous investigation in the summer of 2005, the reductions of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acetone during traffic restriction period were about 64%, 47% and 27%, respectively, indicating that the air cleaning actions adopted by the Chinese government for the two games were efficient. 11Mapping Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Photoperiod Sensitivity in Maize(Zea mays L.)显示文摘Photoperiod sensitivity in maize plays an essential role in utilizing tropic and sub-tropic germplasm to temperate areas.This study aims to identify and map the QTLs responsible for the characteristics measuring photoperiod sensitivity,days from planting to silking(SD),photoperiod response coefficient of silking(PRC),and anthesis-silking interval(ASI).Using the population derived from Zheng 58,photoperiod-insensitive parent,and Ya 8701,photoperiod-sensitive parent,a linkage map was constructed with 93 single sequence repeat(SSR) markers.Phenotyping of 296 F2:3 families of the population in replicated-field test was conducted in both long-day(Beijing,China) and short-day(Sichuan,China) conditions.Ten QTLs were identified to be associated with the SD and ASI on chromosomes 3,4,6,8,and 10 in the long-day conditions,and 11 QTLs were detected to be related to the SD and ASI on chromosomes 2,3,4,5,6,8,and 10 in the short-day conditions,respectively.A QTL associated with the PRC as a major effect in the long-day conditions located in the same position as the QTL related to the SD and ASI in the map,and was on chromosome 10 linked with marker bnlg1655.Using these QTLs in the marker-assisted selection,the photoperiod sensibility could be reduced by selection of the alleles responsible for the SD,PRC,and ASI in breeding programs.MU Gui-qin LIANG Yan ZHANG Zhi-ming WU Yuan-qi LIU Shi-jian PENG Hua ZHANG Su-zhi PANGuang-tang 2009Agricultural Sciences in China2009,8,1:6
12Superconductivity at 36 K in gadolinium-arsenide oxides GdO_(1-x)F_xFeAs显示文摘In this paper we report the fabrication and superconducting properties of GdO1-xFxFeAs. It was found that when x is equal to 0.17, GdO0.83F0.17FeAs is a su-perconductor with the onset transition temperature Tcon ≈ 36.6 K. Resistivity anomaly near 130 K was observed for all samples up to x = 0.17, and such a phenomenon is similar to that of LaO1-xFxFeAs. 14Toward reverse engineering on secret S-boxes in block ciphers显示文摘It has been widely accepted that the security cryptosystems should be only dependent on the security of their secret keys.However,there are still secret ciphers with unknown components in their commercial applications due to various reasons.The existing reverse engineering analyzes are developed for analyzing specific ciphers,and cannot cope with secret algorithms with diferent structures.By looking into the common characteristics of the secret algorithms of ciphers implemented with unknown S-boxes,we proposed a novel reverse engineering analysis approach referred to as Signed Reverse Engineering based on Diferential Power Analysis(SREDPA).It is a generic reverse engineering analysis and can recover the parameters of the secret S-boxes of the block ciphers in typical structures such as SPN,Feistel,and XFeistel(eXtended Feistel).By identifying the bias of the diferential power analysis(DPA)traces,we build the theoretical model of SREDPA and prove its efectiveness.Experiments are performed on secret algorithms in diferent structures and further validate our SREDPA experimentally.The complexity of SREDPA only relies on the size of S-boxes and the reverse engineering analysis is efcient.As shown in the theoretical analysis and the conducted experiments,our SREDPA approach is readily to be extended for analyzing other secret ciphers with unknown S-boxes.This renders a new challenge on the design and implementation of secret ciphers.TANG Ming QIU ZhenLong PENG HongBo HU XiaoBo YI Mu ZHANG HuanGuo 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,3:4

16The carbon isotopic compositions of Non-methane Hydrocarbons in atmosphere显示文摘Carbon isotopic compositions of atmospheric Non-methane Hydrocarbons(NMHCs) in the urban areas of Taiyuan and Lanzhou in summer were reported and the sources of NMHCs are discussed.Carbon isotopic ratios(δ 13C) of vehicle exhaust,coal-combustion exhaust,fuel volatiles and cooking exhaust were also measured with thermal desorption-gas chromatography-isotope ratio-mass spectrometry(TD-GC-IR-MS).δ 13C values of NMHCs in the urban areas of Lanzhou and Taiyuan range from-32.3‰ to-22.3‰ and from-32.8‰ to-18.1‰.δ 13C values of vehicle exhaust,coal-combustion exhaust,fuel volatiles and cooking exhaust are-32.6‰―-21.7‰,-24.5‰―-22.3‰,-32.5‰―-27.4‰ and-31.6‰―-24.5‰,respectively.The data indicate that vehicle exhaust and cooking exhaust make a significant contribution to the atmospheric NMHCs.Therefore,to reduce emissions of vehicle exhaust and cook-ing exhaust is critical for controlling atmospheric NMHCs pollution in summer.PENG Lin ZHANG HuiMin REN ZhaoFang MU Ling SHI RuiLiang CHANG LiPing LI Fan 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,8:3
17Effect of calcium citrate on bone integration in a rabbit femur defect model显示文摘Objective:To explore effect of calcium citrate on bone integration in a rabbit femur defect model, and to compare the bone formation with different sizes by radiological and histological study. Methods:Twenty-four male Japanese white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups (Group A.B.C)in this study.Under anesthesia,defects of four sizes(1.2,1.5,2.0 and 2.5 mm) were created in each of the rabbits.Commercially pure calcium citrate powder was placed inside the medullary compartment of the femur(Experimental),while in the contralateral femur(Control) nothing was implanted.The defects were analyzed using radiography and histological analysis by using Imagepro-Plus 6.0 software after animal was sacrificed at 4th(Group A),6th(Group B) and 8th(Group C) weeks postoperatively.Four samples were analyzed for each size of defect and each healing period.Results:The histological and the radiologic evaluation were performed after sacrification of all rabbits on postoperative 4th and 6th weeks,It showed significant difference between the experimental group and the control group when these defects were less than or equal to 2.0 mm.No statistical difference was observed when these defects were larger than 2.0 mm at all healing periods except at the 4th week.Conclusions:Calcium citrate affects the early periods of hone defects healing mechanism in Japanese white rabbits positively,especially when the defect is not too large,We suggest further studies on calcium citrate to determine the effects of various dosages,administration ways and the experimental time on the bone defects.Wei Zhang Wei Wang Qing-Yu Chen Zhong-Qin Lin Shao-Wen Cheng Dong-Quan Kou Xiao-Zhou Ying Yue Shen Xiao-Jie Cheng Peng-Fei Nie Xiu-Cui Li Ferdinand An Rompis Hang Huang Hua Zhang Zhong-Lin Mu Lei Peng 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,4:3
18Making structured metals transparent for broadband electromagnetic waves显示文摘In this review,we present our recent work on making structured metals transparent for broadband electromagnetic waves by surface plasmons(SPs)or spoof surface plasmons(SSPs).First,we demonstrate that the interference between the localized and propagating SPs plays an important role in the optical transmission through arrays of sub-wavelength holes.The observed phenomena belong to the category of plasmonic Fano efects.Second,we show that the transmission enhancement originates not only from the coupling between the incident light and the excited SPs but also from the coupling among these SPs in multiple nano-aperture stacks.Finally,we demonstrate that metallic plates with narrow slit arrays can become transparent within extremely broad spectral bandwidths,and high transmission efciency is insensitive to the thickness of the metal.This phenomenon explicitly demonstrates the conversion between light and SPs.These investigations provide guidelines to develop many novel materials and devices,such as transparent conducting panels,antireflective solar cells,and other broadband metamaterials.MENG Chong PENG RuWen FAN RenHao HUANG XianRong WANG Mu 2013Science China(Information Sciences)2013,56,12:3
19Ileum terminal antibiotic infusion affects jejunal and colonic specific microbial population and immune status in growing pigs显示文摘Background: Compared with oral antibiotics(primarily disrupt foregut microbiota), the present study used antibiotics with ileum terminal infusion to disrupt the hindgut microbiota, and investigated the changes in specific bacterial composition and immune indexes in the jejunum and colon, and serum of growing pigs. Twelve barrows(45 d of age, 12.08 ± 0.28 kg) fitted with a T-cannula at the terminal ileum, were randomly assigned to two groups and infused either saline without antibiotics(Control) or with antibiotics(Antibiotic) at the terminal ileum. After 25 d experiment, all pigs were euthanized for analyzing bacterial composition and immune status.Results: Ileum terminal antibiotic infusion(ITAI) altered dominant bacteria counts, with a decrease in Bifidobacterium, Clostridium cluster IV and Clostridium cluster IV in the colon(P < 0.05), and an increase in Escherichia coli in the jejunum(P < 0.05). ITAI decreased(P < 0.05) short-chain fatty acids concentrations in the colon. ITAI decreased interleukin-8(IL-8), IL-10 and secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA) concentrations, and down-regulated IL-10, Mucin-1(MUC1), Mucin-2(MUC2) and zonula occludens-1(ZO-1) mRNA expression in the colonic mucosa(P < 0.05). In the jejunal mucosa, ITAI decreased interferon-γ(IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), s IgA and IgG levels together with down-regulation of IFN-γ, TNF-α, MUC2 and ZO-1 mRNA expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, ITAI decreased IL-10, INF-γ, TNF-α, IgA and IgG concentrations in serum(P < 0.05). Correlation analysis revealed that the change in intestinal microbiota was correlated with alterations of Ig and cytokines.Conclusions: ITAI affected jejunal and colonic specific bacteria counts, and altered some immune markers levels in the jejunal and colonic mucosa and serum.
