| 2 | TIPS improves liver transplantation-free survival in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites:An updated meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To compare the liver transplantation-free(LTF)survival rates between patients who underwent transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts(TIPS)and those who underwent paracentesis by an updated meta-analysis that pools the effects of both number of deaths and time to death.METHODS:MEDLINE,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library were searched from the inception to October2012.LTF survival,liver transplantation,liver diseaserelated death,non-liver disease-related death,recurrent ascites,hepatic encephalopathy(HE)and severe HE,and hepatorenal syndrome were assessed as outcomes.LTF survival was estimated using a HR with a95%CI.Other outcomes were estimated using OR with95%CIs.Sensitivity analyses were performed to assess the effects of potential outliers in the studies according to the risk of bias and the study characteristics.RESULTS:Six randomized controlled trials with 390patients were included.In comparison to paracentesis,TIPS significantly improved LTF survival(HR=0.61,95%CI:0.46-0.82,P<0.001).TIPS also significantly decreased liver disease-related death(OR=0.62,95%CI:0.39-0.98,P=0.04),recurrent ascites(OR=0.15,95%CI:0.09-0.24,P<0.001)and hepatorenal syndrome(OR=0.32,95%CI:0.12-0.86,P=0.02).However,TIPS increased the risk of HE(OR=2.95,95%CI:1.87-4.66,P=0.02)and severe HE(OR=2.18,95%CI:1.27-3.76,P=0.005).CONCLUSION:TIPS significantly improved the LTF survival of cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites and decreased the risk of recurrent ascites and hepatorenal syndrome with the cost of increased risk of HE compared with paracentesis.Further studies are warranted to validate the survival benefit of TIPS in clinical practice settings. | Ming Bai Xing-Shun Qi Zhi-Ping Yang Man Yang Dai-Ming Fan Guo-Hong Han | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,10: | 29 |

| 4 | Phase 1 clinical trial demonstrated that MUC1 positive metastatic seminal vesicle cancer can be effectively eradicated by modified Anti-MUC1 chimeric antigen receptor transduced T cells显示文摘Recent progress in chimeric antigen receptor-modified T-cell(CAR-T cell) technology in cancer therapy is extremely promising, especially in the treatment of patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In contrast, due to the hostile immunosuppressive microenvironment of a solid tumor, CAR T-cell accessibility and survival continue to pose a considerable challenge, which leads to their limited therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we constructed two anti-MUC1 CAR-T cell lines. One set of CAR-T cells contained SM3 single chain variable fragment(sc Fv) sequence specifically targeting the MUC1 antigen and co-expressing interleukin(IL) 12(named SM3-CAR). The other CAR-T cell line carried the SM3 sc Fv sequence modified to improve its binding to MUC1 antigen(named p SM3-CAR) but did not co-express IL-12. When those two types of CAR-T cells were injected intratumorally into two independent metastatic lesions of the same MUC1+ seminal vesicle cancer patient as part of an interventional treatment strategy, the initial results indicated no side-effects of the MUC1 targeting CAR-T cell approach, and patient serum cytokines responses were positive. | 14 | 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin Promotes Proliferation of Astrocyte Cells via the Akt/STAT3/Cyclin D1 Pathway显示文摘Objective The compound 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD), a persistent organic pollutant, is harmful to the nervous system, but its effects on the brain are still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effects of TCDD on astrocytes proliferation and underlying molecular mechanism. Methods The cell proliferation was measured by EdU-based proliferation assay and PI staining by flow cytometry. Protein expression levels were detected by Western blotting. Immunofluorescence, cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions separation were used to assess the distribution of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3). Results C6 cells treated with 10 and 50 nmol/L TCDD for 24 h showed significant promotion of the proliferation of. The exposure to TCDD resulted in the upregulation in the expression levels of phosphorylated protein kinase B(p-Akt), phosphorylated STAT3, and cyclin D1 in a dose-and time-dependent manner. The inhibition of Akt expression with LY294002 or STAT3 expression with AG490 abolished the TCDD-induced cyclin D1 upregulation and cell proliferation. Furthermore, LY294002 suppressed the activation of STAT3. Finally, TCDD promoted the translocation of STAT3 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus, and LY294002 treatment blocked this effect. | 17 | Effects of 1-MCP on proline,polyamine,and nitric oxide metabolism in postharvest peach fruit under chilling stress显示文摘Peach(Prunus persica Batsch‘Yuhualu’)fruit are sensitive to chilling injury(CI).Proline,polyamine(PA),and nitric oxide(NO)are important small regulators of various metabolic pathways under chilling stress that mitigate CI.Ethylene is known to promote senescence and CI,while 1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)is an antagonist that inhibits the effects of ethylene.However,how1-MCP and ethylene affect proline,PA,and NO levels under chilling stress remains unclear.To address these questions,1-MCP(1μL·L^(−1))and ethylene(1μL·L^(−1))treatments were applied to peach fruit.Fruit were stored at 4°C for 28 d,then moved to 25°C for 3 d immediately after cold storage.Peach fruit exhibited CI symptoms after 7 d of cold storage with enhanced electrolyte leakage and malondialdehyde contents.The 1-MCP treatment significantly(P<0.05)restrained peach CI,and fruit did not exhibit CI symptoms until 14 d of cold storage.Proline and PAs in peach under chilling stress weremostly synthesized from glutamate and arginine,which were catalyzed by1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase and arginine decarboxylase,respectively.1-MCPtreated fruit exhibited higher proline and PA contents and enhanced chilling tolerance compared to the control,while ethylene-treated fruit had lower proline and PA contents and reduced chilling tolerance.Ethylene-treated fruit,which exhibited more severe CI symptoms compared to the control,had significantly(P<0.05)lower NO contents and NO synthase activities.However,NOmay not be a direct acting factor in 1-MCPinduced chilling tolerance,as 1-MCP-treated fruit had lower NO contents and NO synthase activities compared to the control.In conclusion,proline and PA clearly played direct and important roles in 1-MCP-induced peach chilling tolerance,while NO may not be actively involved. | Chunlu Qian Zhengjie Ji Qin Zhu Xiaohua Qi Qianqian Li Jiandong Yin Jun Liu Juan Kan Man Zhang Changhai Jin Lixia Xiao | 2021 | Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,3: | 4 |

| 19 | Association between Selenium in Soil and Diabetes in Chinese Residents Aged 35–74 Years:Results from the 2010 National Survey of Chronic Diseases and Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance显示文摘Objective To explore the association between soil selenium levels and the risk of diabetes in Chinese adults aged 35–74 years.Methods Data for this study were derived from the China Chronic Diseases and Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance 2010 survey.Selenium concentrations in soil were obtained from the Atlas of Soil Environmental Background Values in China.A two-level binary logistic regression model was used to determine the association between soil selenium concentrations and the risk of diabetes,with participants nested within districts/counties.Results A total of 69,332 participants aged 35–74 years,from 158 districts/counties were included in the analysis.Concentrations of selenium in soil varied greatly across the 158 districts/counties,with a median concentration of 0.219 mg/kg(IQR:0.185–0.248).The results showed that both Quartile 1(0.119–0.185 mg/kg)and Quartile 4(0.249–0.344 mg/kg)groups were positively associated with diabetes compared to a soil selenium concentration of 0.186–0.219 mg/kg(Quartile 2),crude odds ratios(ORs)(95%CI)were 1.227(1.003–1.502)and 1.280(1.048–1.563).The P values were 0.045 and 0.013,for Quartile 1 and Quartile 4 groups,respectively.After adjusting for all confounding factors of interest,the Quartile 1 group became non-significant,and the Quartile 4 group had an adjusted OR(95%CI)of 1.203(1.018–1.421)relative to the reference group(Quartile 2),the P values was 0.030.No significant results were seen for the Quartile 3 group(0.220–0.248 mg/kg)compared to the reference group.Conclusion Excessive selenium concentrations in soil could increase the risk of diabetes among Chinese adults aged 35–74 years. | WANG Qi Qi YU Shi Cheng XU Cheng Dong LIU Jian Jun LI Yuan Qiu ZHANG Man Hui LONG Xiao Juan LIU Yun Ning BI Yu Fang ZHAO Wen Hua YAO Hong Yan | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,4: | 3 |
| 20 | Porous V_2O_5-SnO_2 /CNTs composites as high performance cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5 ) exhibits high theoretical capacities when used as a cathode in lithium ion batteries (LIBs), but its application is limited by its structural instability as well as its low lithium and electronic conductivities. A porous composite of V2O5 -SnO2 /carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was prepared by a hydrothermal method and followed by thermal treatment. The small particles of V2O5 , their porous structure and the coexistence of SnO2 and CNTs can all facilitate the diffusion rates of the electrons and lithium ions. Electrochemical impedance spectra indicated higher ionic and electric conductivities, as compared to commercial V2O5 .
