1Different sperm sources and parameters can influence intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes before embryo implantation显示文摘To evaluate the effects of sperm with different parameters and sources on the outcomes of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), 1972 ICSI cycles were analyzed retrospectively. Groups 1 to 5 were composed of cycles using ejaculated sperm and were grouped according to sperm quantity, quality, and morphology into normal (288 cycles), or mild (329 cycles), moderate (522 cycles), severe (332 cycles), and extremely severe (171 cycles) oligozoospermia and/or asthenozoospermia and/or teratozoospermia (OAT) groups. Group 6 was composed of 250 cycles using testicular or epididymal sperm, and Group 7 consisted of 80 cycles using frozen-thawed sperm. We found that fertilization rates were gradually reduced from Groups 1 to 6, and reached statistical difference in Groups 5 and 6 (P<0.05). The high-quality embryo rate was higher in Group 1 than in Groups 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 (P<0.05). No statistical differences were observed in the rates of embryo cleavage, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, live-birth, premature birth, low birth weight, weeks of premature birth, average birth weight, or sex ratio for all seven groups (P>0.05). A total of nine cases of malformation were observed, with a malformation rate of 1.25% (9/719). In conclusion, different sperm sources and parameters can affect ICSI outcomes before embryo implantation. 2Development of the universal and simplified soil model coupling heat and water transport显示文摘It is very important to develop a universal soil model with higher simplicity and more accuracy, which can be widely applied to very general cases such as wet or dry soil, frozen or unfrozen soil and homogeneous or heterogeneous soil. Firstly in this study, based on analysis of both magnitude order and the numerical simulation results, the universal and simplified soil model (USSM) coupling heat and mass transport processes is developed. Secondly, in order to avoid the greater uncertainty caused by the phase change term in numerical iteration process for the model solution obtaining, new version of the universal simplified soil model (NUSSM) is further derived through variables transformation, and accordingly a more efficient numerical scheme for the new version is designed well. The simulation results from the NUSSM agree with the results from more complicated and accurate soil model very well, also reasonably reproduce the observed data under widely real conditions. 3Si-and alkali-rich melt inclusions in minerals of mantle peridotites from eastern China:Implication for lithospheric evolution显示文摘Minerals of spinel- and garnet-facies mantle xenoliths entrained in Cenozoic basalts from eastern China (North China, Northeastern China and Southeastern China coastal area) contains lots of melt inclusions. Studies on these melt inclusions show that the glass inclusions are rich in SiO2 (60%―68%) and alkalis (K2O+Na2O=5%―11%, especially for K2O) as well as volatiles such as H2O and CO2 (2%―7%), which belong to dacites and andesites of the high-K calcic alkali series rocks with few shoshonites. High Al and Ca diopside in melt inclusion is the product of melt crystallization at high temperature and pressure, rather than the product of devitrification. Results show that these K-rich (in general K2O>3%) intermediate-acidic silicate melt inclusions have characteristics of continent without a genetical link to host basalts and their phenocrystic minerals. Thus, these trapped melt inclusions represent melts of Mesozoic lithospheric mantle-crust interaction and imply that the continental litho-spheric mantle beneath eastern China had undergone fragmentation and recreation processes during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods. This result undoubtly provides important implication for the evo-lution of sub-continental lithosphere beneath eastern China. 4First-principles study on the electronic structure and optical properties of CrSi_2显示文摘Using the first principle methods based on the plane-wave pseudo-potential theory, band structure, density of states and optical properties of CrSi2 were studied. The calculation of band structure shows that CrSi2 is an indirect semiconductor whose band gap is 0.353 eV. Density of states is mainly composed of 3d electron of Cr and 3p electron of Si. Dielectric function, refractive index, reflectivity, and absorption coefficient of CrSi2 are also calculated. 5First-principle study on the electronic structure of stressed CrSi_2显示文摘The electronic structure of stressed CrSi2 was calculated using the first-principle methods based on plane-wave pseudo-potential theory. The calculated results showed that, under the uniaxial compression, the energy level of CrSi2 shifted toward high energy and its energy gap became wider with the increasing uniaxial stress, while the gap became narrower under the negative uniaxial stress. 6Quantitative analysis of rockburst for surrounding rocks and zonal disintegration mechanism in deep tunnels显示文摘Rock masses without pre-existing macrocracks can usually be considered as granular materials with only microcracks.During the excavation of the tunnels,microcracks may nucleate,grow and propagate through the rock matrix;secondary microcracks may appear,and discontinuous and incompatible deformation of rock masses may occur.The classical continuum elastoplastic theory is not suitable for analyzing discontinuous and incompatible deformation of rock masses.Based on non-Euclidean model of the discontinuous and incompatible deformation of rock masses,the distribution of stresses in the surrounding rock masses in deep tunnels is fluctuant or wave-like.The stress concentration at the tips of microcracks located in vicinity of stress wave crest is comparatively large,which may lead to the unstable growth and coalescence of secondary microcracks,and consequently the occurrence of fractured zones.On the other hand,the stress concentration at the tips of microcracks located around stress wave trough is relatively small,which may lead to the arrest of microcracks,and thus the non-fractured zones.The alternate appearance of stress wave crest and trough thus may induce the alternate occurrence of fractured and non-fractured zones in deep rock masses.For brittle rocks,the dissipated energy of microcrack growth is small,but the elastic strain energy stored in rock masses may be larger than the dissipated energy growths of pre-existing microcracks and secondary microcracks.The sudden release of the residual elastic strain energy may lead to rockburst.Based on this understanding,the criteria of rockburst are established.Furthermore,the relationship between rockbursts and zonal disintegration in the surrounding rock masses around deep tunnels is studied.The influences of the in-situ stresses and the physico-mechanical parameters on the distribution of rockburst zones and the ejection velocity of rock fragments are investigated in detail.Qihu Qian1,Xiaoping Zhou2 1 Engineering Institute of Engineering Corps,PLA University of Science and Technology,Nanjing,210007,China 2 School of Civil Engineering,Chongqing University,Chongqing,400045,China 2011Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,1:6
7Ectopic expression of foxtail millet zip-like gene,SiPf40,in transgenic rice plants causes a pleiotropic phenotype affecting tillering,vascular distribution and root development显示文摘Plant architecture determines grain production in rice(Oryza sativa) and is affected by important agronomic traits such as tillering,plant height,and panicle morphology.Many key genes involved in controlling the initiation and outgrowth of axillary buds,the elongation of stems,and the architecture of inflorescences have been isolated and analyzed.Previous studies have shown that SiPf40,which was identified from a foxtail millet(Setaria italica) immature seed cDNA library,causes extra branches and tillers in SiPf40-transgenic tobacco and foxtail millet,respectively.To reconfirm its function,we generated transgenic rice plants overexpressing SiPf40 under the control of the ubiquitin promoter.SiPf40-overexpressing transgenic plants have a greater tillering number and a wider tiller angle than wild-type plants.Their root architecture is modified by the promotion of lateral root development,and the distribution of xylem and phloem in the vascular bundle is affected.Analysis of hormone levels showed that the ratios of indole-3-acetic acid/zeatin(IAA/ZR) and IAA/gibberellic acid(IAA/GA) decreased in SiPf40-transgenic plants compared with wild-type plants.These findings strongly suggest that SiPf40 plays an important role in plant architecture.LUAN YunXia1,2,WANG BaoSheng1,ZHAO Qian1,AO GuangMing1 & YU JingJuan1* 1State Key Laboratory for Agrobiotechnology,College of Biological Sciences,China Agricultural University,Beijing 100193,China 2National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture,Beijing 100097,China 2010Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,12:5
8First-principles calculations on the electronic structure and optical properties of BaSi_2显示文摘The electronic structure,densities of states and optical properties of the stable orthorhombic BaSi2 have been calculated using the first-principle density function theory and pseudopotential method. The results show that BaSi2 is an indirect semiconductor with the band gap of 1.086 eV,the valence bands of BaSi2 are mainly composed of Si 3p,3s and Ba 5d,and the conduction bands are mainly composed of Ba 6s,5d as well as Si 3p. 11Characteristics of echolocating bats’auditory stereocilia length, compared with other mammals显示文摘The stereocilia of the Organ of Corti in 4 different echolocating bats, Myotis adversus, Murina leuco-gaster, Nyctalus plancyi (Nyctalus velutinus), and Rhinolophus ferrumequinum were observed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Stereocilia lengths were estimated for comparison with those of non-echolocating mammals. The specialized lengths of outer hair cells (OHC) stereocilia in echolocating bats were shorter than those of non-echolocating mammals. The specialized lengths of inner hair cells (IHC) stereocilia were longer than those of outer hair cells stereocilia in the Organ of Corti of echolocating bats.
