Research advances in traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in cancer patients显示文摘Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome, also known as TCM ZHENG or TCM pattern,is an integral and essential part of TCM theory that helps to guide the design of individualized treatments.A TCM syndrome,in essence,is a characteristic profi le of all clinical manifestations in one patient that can be readily identifi ed by a TCM practitioner. In this article, the authors reviewed the presentations of TCM syndromes in seven common malignancies(liver, lung, gastric, breast, colorectal, pancreatic and esophageal cancers),the objectivity and the standardization of TCM syndrome differentiation, the evaluation of TCM syndrome modeling in cancer research, and syndrome differentiation-guided TCM treatment of cancers.A better understanding of TCM syndrome theory,as well as its potential biological basis, may contribute greatly to the clinical TCM diagnosis and the treatment of cancer.Qing Ji Yun-quan Luo Wen-hai Wang Xuan Liu Qi Li Shi-bing Su 2016Journal of Integrative Medicine2016,14,1:17
Simulation methodology development for rotating blade containment analysis显示文摘An experimental and numerical investigation on the aeroengine blade/case containment analysis is presented. Blade out containment capability analysis is an essential step in the new aeroengine design, but containment tests are time-consuming and incur significant costs; thus, developing a short-period and low-cost numerical method is warranted. Using explicit nonlinear dynamic finite element analysis software, the present study numerically investigated the high-speed impact process for simulated blade containment tests which were carried out on high-speed spin testing facility. A number of simulations were conducted using finite element models with different mesh sizes and different values of both the contact penalty factor and the friction coefficient. Detailed comparisons between the experimental and numerical results reveal that the mesh size and the friction coefficient have a considerable impact on the results produced. It is shown that a finer mesh will predict lower containment capability of the case, which is closer to the test data. A larger value of the friction coefficient also predicts lower containment capability. However, the contact penalty factor has little effect on the simulation results if it is large enough to avoid false penetration.Qing HE Hai-jun XUAN Lian-fang LIAO Wei-rong HONG Rong-ren WU 2012Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2012,13,4:9
Specific HLA-DQB1 alleles associated with risk for development of hepatocellular carcinoma:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the association of human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-DQB1 alleles with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) through meta-analysis of published data.METHODS:Case-control studies on HLA-DQB1 allele association with HCC published up to January 2010 were included in the analyses. The odds ratios(ORs) of HLADQB1 allele distributions in HCC patients were analyzed and compared with healthy controls. The meta-analysis software REVMAN 5.0 was applied for investigating heterogeneity among individual studies and for summarizing all the studies.A meta-analysis was performed using fixed-effect or random-effect methods, depending on the absence or presence of significant heterogeneity.Seven case-control studies containing 398 cases and 594 controls were included in the final analysis.RESULTS:Among the five family alleles,two(DQB1*02 and DQB1*03) were found to be significantly associated with the risk of HCC.The combined OR for the association of DQB1*02 and DQB1*03 allele with the risk for HCC was 1.78(95% CI:1.05-3.03,P = 0.03) and 0.65(95% CI:0.48-0.89,P = 0.007),respectively.Among the 13 specific alleles,two(DQB1*0502 and DQB1*0602) were significantly associated with risk of HCC.The combined OR for the association of DQB1*0502 and DQB1*0602 allele with the risk for HCC was 1.82(95% CI:1.14-2.92,P = 0.01) and 0.58(95% CI:0.36-0.95,P = 0.03),respectively.No significant association was established for other HLA-DQB1 family alleles and specific alleles.CONCLUSION:Our results support the hypothesis that specific HLA-DQB1 allele families and alleles might influence the susceptibility or resistance to HCC,although it needs further investigations.Yong-Ning Xin Zhong-Hua Lin Xiang-Jun Jiang Shu-Hui Zhan Quan-Jiang Dong Qing Wang Shi-Ying Xuan 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,17:8
Containment of high-speed rotating disk fragments显示文摘Disk burst accidents sometimes happen in aeroengines. To avoid tragic consequences, aeroengine casings must have sufficient containment capability.Experiments and simulations need to be conducted to study the impact, distortion, and perforation caused by disk burst and which may give important clues to potential failure mechanisms. This paper presents some containment tests of high-speed rotating disk fragments,in which the original disks were burst into three equal fragments within a predetermined rotating speed range. The failure modes of the containment casing varied significantly with the thickness of the containment casing.Shearing, tearing, tensile fracture, and large plastic stretching deformation occurred in a thin-walled containment casing, while a thick-walled casing could contain disk fragments and withstand large plastic deformation.Numerical simulations were carried out to study the impact process and failure modes further.Good agreement was found between the results of the simulations and the tests.Hai-jun XUAN Lu-lu LIU Yi-ming FENG Qing HE Juan-juan LI 2012Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2012,13,9:8
Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12:8

Hepatitis C virus cure with direct acting antivirals: Clinical, economic, societal and patient value for China显示文摘About 10 million people in China are infected with hepatitis C virus(HCV),with the seroprevalence of anti-HCV in the general population estimated at 0.6%.Delaying effective treatment of chronic hepatitis C(CHC)is associated with liver disease progression, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver-related mortality. The extrahepatic manifestations of CHC further add to the disease burden of patients.Managing CHC-related advanced liver diseases and systemic manifestations are costly for both the healthcare system and society.Loss of work productivity due to reduced well-being and quality of life in CHC patients further compounds the economic burden of the disease.Traditionally, pegylatedinterferon plus ribavirin(PR)was the standard of care. However,a substantial number of patients are ineligible for PR treatment, and only 40%–75%achieved sustained virologic response.Furthermore,PR is associated with impairment of patient-reported outcomes(PROs),high rates of adverse events, and poor adherence. With the advent of direct acting antivirals(DAAs),the treatment of CHC patients has been revolutionized.DAAs have broader eligible patient populations, higher efficacy, better PRO profiles, fewer adverse events, and better adherence rates, thereby making it possible to cure a large proportion of all CHC patients. This article aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation on the value of effective, curative hepatitis C treatment from the clinical, economic, societal, and patient experience perspectives, with a focus on recent data from China, supplemented with other Asian and international experiences where China data are not available.Qing Xie Jian-Wei Xuan Hong Tang Xiao-Guang Ye Peng Xu I-Heng Lee Shan-Lian Hu 2019World Journal of Hepatology2019,11,5:3
ZCCHC3 modulates TLR3-mediated signaling by promoting recruitment of TRIF to TLR3显示文摘Toll-like receptor 3(TLR3)-mediated signaling is important for host defense against RNA virus.Upon viral RNA stimulation, toll and interleukin-1 receptor domain-containing adaptor inducing IFN-p(TRIF)is recruited to TLR3 and then undergoes oligomerization, which is required for the recruitment of downstream molecules to transmit signals. Here,we identified zinc finger CCHC-type containing 3(ZCCHC3)as a positive regulator of TLR3-mediated signaling.Overexpression of ZCCHC3 promoted transcription of downstream antiviral genes stimulated by the synthetic TLR3 ligand poly(I:C).ZCCHC3-deficiency markedly inhibited TLR3-but not TLR4-mediated induction of type I interferons(IFNs)and proinflammatory cytokines.Zcc/7c3-/-mice were more resistant to poly(l:C)-but not lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory death.Mechanistically,ZCCHC3 promoted recruitment of TRIF to TLR3 after poly(l:C)stimulation. Our findings reveal that ZCCHC3 plays an important role in TLR3-mediated innate immune response by promoting the recruitment of TRIF to TLR3 after ligand stimulation.Ru Zang Huan Lian Xuan Zhong Qing Yang Hong-Bing Shu 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,4:3

Quantitative prediction of shale gas sweet spots based on seismic data in Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation,Weiyuan area,Sichuan Basin,SW China显示文摘Sweet spots in the shale reservoirs of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in Weiyuan 201 Block of Sichuan Basin were predicted quantitatively using seismic data and fuzzy optimization method. First, based on seismic and rock physics analysis, the rock physics characteristics of the reservoirs were determined, and elastic parameters sensitive to shale reservoirs with high gas content were selected. Second, data volumes with high precision of the elastic parameters were obtained from pre-stack simultaneous inversion. The horizontal distribution of key parameters for shale gas evaluation were calculated based on the results of rock physics analysis. Then, the fuzzy evaluation equation was established by fuzzy optimization method with test and logging data of horizontal wells with similar operation conditions. key parameters affecting the productivity of horizontal wells were sorted out and the weights of them in the sweet spots quantitative prediction were worked out by fuzzy optimization to set up a sweet spots evaluation system. Three classes of shale gas reservoirs which including two kinds of sweet spots were predicted with the above procedure, and the sweet spots have been predicted quantitatively by combining the above prediction results with the testing production. The testing results of 7 verification wells proved the reliability of the prediction results.ZENG Qingcai CHEN Sheng HE Pei YANG Qing GUO Xiaolong CHEN Peng DAI Chunmeng LI Xuan GAI Shaohua DENG Yu HOU Huaxing 2018Petroleum Exploration and Development2018,45,3:2
Peripheral Artery Disease and Risk of Fibrosis Deterioration in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease:A Prospective Investigation显示文摘Objective Liver fibrosis is an important predictor of mortality in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Peripheral artery disease(PAD)and liver fibrosis share many common metabolic dysfunctions. We aimed to explore the association between PAD and risk of fibrosis deterioration in NAFLD patients. Methods The study recruited 1,610 NAFLD patients aged≥40 years from a well-defined community at baseline in 2010 and followed up between August 2014 and May 2015.Fibrosis deterioration was defined as the NAFLD fibrosis score(NFS)status increased to a higher category at the follow-up visit.PAD was defined as an ankle-brachial index of<0.90 or>1.40.Results During an average of 4.3 years’follow-up,618 patients progressed to a higher NFS category.PAD was associated with 92%increased risk of fibrosis deterioration[multivariable-adjusted odds ratio(OR):1.92,95%confidence interval(CI):1.24,2.98].When stratified by baseline NFS status, the OR for progression from low to intermediate or high NFS was 1.74(95%CI:1.02,3.00),and progression from intermediate to high NFS was 2.24(95%CI:1.05,4.80).There was a significant interaction between PAD and insulin resistance(IR)on fibrosis deterioration(P for interaction=0.03).As compared with non-PAD and non-IR,the coexistence of PAD and IR was associated with a 3.85-fold(95%CI:2.06,7.18)increased risk of fibrosis deterioration. Conclusion PAD is associated with an increased risk of fibrosis deterioration in NAFLD patients, especially in those with IR.The coexistence of PAD and IR may impose an interactive effect on the risk of fibrosis deterioration.ZHU Wen DENG Chan Juan XUAN Li Ping DAI Hua Jie ZHAO Zhi Yun WANG Tian Ge LI Mian LU Jie Li XU Yu CHEN Yu Hong WANG Wei Qing BI Yu Fang XU Min 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,4:2

Ziyin Huatan Recipe, a Chinese herbal compound, inhibits migration and invasion of gastric cancer by upregulating RUNX3 expression显示文摘Objectives: Ziyin Huatan Recipe(ZYHT), a traditional Chinese medicine comprised of Lilii Bulbus, Pinelliae Rhizoma, and Hedyotis Diffusa, has shown promise in treating gastric cancer(GC). However, its potential mechanism has not yet been clearly addressed. This study aimed to predict targets and molecular mechanisms of ZYHT in treating GC by network pharmacology analysis and to explore the role of ZYHT in GC both in vitro and in vivo. Methods: Targets and molecular mechanisms of ZYHT were predicted via network pharmacology analysis. The effects of ZYHT on the expression of metastasis-associated targets were further validated by Western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. To explore the specific molecular mechanisms of the effects of ZYHT on migration and invasion, the runt-related transcription factor 3(RUNX3) gene was knocked out by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/Cas9, and lentiviral vectors were transfected into SGC-7901 cells. Then lung metastasis model of GC in nude mice was established to explore the anti-metastasis effect of ZYHT. Western blot and immunohistochemistry were used to explore the impact of ZYHT on the expression of metastasis-related proteins with or without RUNX3 gene. Results: The network pharmacology analysis showed that ZYHT might inhibit focal adhesion, migration, invasion and metastasis of GC. ZYHT inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of GC cells in vitro via regulating the expression of metastasis-associated targets. Knocking out RUNX3 almost completely reversed the cell phenotypes(migration and invasion) and protein expression levels elicited by ZYHT.In vivo studies showed that ZYHT inhibited the metastasis of GC cells to the lung and prolonged the survival time of the nude mice. Knocking out RUNX3 partly reversed the metastasis of GC cells to the lung and the protein expression levels elicited by ZYHT.Conclusion: ZYHT can effectively inhibit the invasion and migration of GC in vitro and in vivo, and its molecular mechanism may relate to the upregulation of RUNX3 expression.Shang-jin Song Xuan Liu Qing Ji Da-zhi Sun Li-juan Xiu Jing-yu Xu Xiao-qiang Yue 2022Journal of Integrative Medicine2022,20,4:2

Comparative genomics of Helicobacter pylori显示文摘Genomic sequences have been determined for a number of strains of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) and related bacteria. With the development of microarray analysis and the wide use of subtractive hybridization techniques, comparative studies have been carried out with respect to the interstrain differences between H pylori and inter-species differences in the genome of related bacteria. It was found that the core genome of H pylori constitutes 1111 genes that are determinants of the species properties. A great pool of auxillary genes are mainly from the categories of cag pathogenicity islands, outer membrane proteins, restriction-modification system and hypothetical proteins of unknown function. Persistence of H pylori in the human stomach leads to the diversification of the genome. Comparative genomics suggest that a host jump has occurs from humans to felines. Candidate genes specific for the development of the gastric diseases were identified. With the aid of proteomics, population genetics and other molecular methods, future comparative genomic studies would dramatically promote our understanding of the evolution, pathogenesis and microbiology of H pylori.Quan-Jiang Dong Qing Wang Ying-Nin Xin Ni Li Shi-Ying Xuan 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,32:2
