1Natural exosome-like nanovesicles from edible tea flowers suppress metastatic breast cancer via ROS generation and microbiota modulation显示文摘Although several artificial nanotherapeutics have been approved for practical treatment of metastatic breast cancer,their inefficient therapeutic outcomes,serious adverse effects,and high cost of mass production remain crucial challenges.Herein,we developed an alternative strategy to specifically trigger apoptosis of breast tumors and inhibit their lung metastasis by using natural nanovehicles from tea flowers(TFENs).These nanovehicles had desirable particle sizes(131 nm),exosome-like morphology,and negative zeta potentials.Furthermore,TFENs were found to contain large amounts of polyphenols,flavonoids,functional proteins,and lipids.Cell experiments revealed that TFENs showed strong cytotoxicities against cancer cells due to the stimulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)amplification.The increased intracellular ROS amounts could not only trigger mitochondrial damage,but also arrest cell cycle,resulting in the in vitro anti-proliferation,anti-migration,and anti-invasion activities against breast cancer cells.Further mice investigations demonstrated that TFENs after intravenous(i.v.)injection or oral administration could accumulate in breast tumors and lung metastatic sites,inhibit the growth and metastasis of breast cancer,and modulate gut microbiota.This study brings new insights to the green production of natural exosome-like nanoplatform for the inhibition of breast cancer and its lung metastasis via i.v.and oral routes.Qiubing Chen Qian Li Yuqi Liang Menghang Zu Nanxi Chen Brandon S.B.Canup Liyong Luo Chenhui Wang Liang Zeng Bo Xiao 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:4
2A chemically stable nanoporous coordination polymer with fixed and free Cu^(2+)ions for boosted C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)separation显示文摘Safely and highly selective acetylene(C_(2)H_(2))capture is a great challenge,because of its highly explosive nature,as well as its nearly similar molecule size and boiling point toward the main impurity of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)).Adsorption separation has shown a promising future.Herein,a new nanoporous coordination polymer(PCP)adsorbent with fixed and free Cu ions(termed NTU-66-Cu)was prepared through post-synthetic approach via cation exchanging from the pristine NTU-66,an anionic framework with new 3,4,6-c topology and two kinds of cages.The NTU-66-Cu shows significantly improved C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)selectivity from 6 to 32(v/v:1/1)or 4 to 4_(2)(v/v:1/4)at low pressure under 298 K,along with enhanced C_(2)H_(2)capacity(from 89.22to 111.53 cm^(3)·g^(-1)).More importantly,this observation was further validated by density functional theory(DFT)calculations and breakthrough experiments under continuous and dynamic conditions.Further,the excellent chemical stability enables this adsorbent to achieve recycle C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2)separation without loss of C_(2)H_(2)capacity.Si Chen Nibedita Behera Chao Yang Qiubing Dong Baishu Zheng Yingying Li Qi Tang Zhaoxu Wang Yanqing Wang Jingui Duan 2021Nano Research2021,14,2:3
3Tectonic discrimination of olivine in basalt using data mining techniques based on major elements:a comparative study from multiple perspectives显示文摘The olivine in basalt records much information about formation and evolution of basaltic magma,which may help to discriminate basalt tectonic settings.However,the viewpoint that olivine is connected with the tectonic setting where it formed is controversial.To verify the hypothesis,we intend to discriminate the basalt tectonic settings by geochemical characteristics of olivine.The data mining technique is selected as an effective tool for this study,which is a new attempt in geochemical research.The geochemical data of olivine used is extracted from open-access and comprehensive petrological databases.The classification performance of Logistic regression classifier,Naïve Bayes,Random Forest and Multi-layer perception(MLP)algorithms is firstly compared under some constraints.The results of the basic experiment indicate that MLP has the highest classification accuracy of about 88%based on raw data,followed by Random Forest.But this does not fully prove the hypothesis is credible.Then,the crossvalidation method and other measurement criteria are integrated for scientific and in-depth comparative analysis.The advanced experiments mainly include the comparison of different data preprocessing methods,combinations of geochemical characteristics and sample data volumes.It turns out that chemical composition of olivine in basalt has the function of discriminating tectonic settings.Qiubing Ren Mingchao Li Shuai Han 2019Big Earth Data2019,3,1:2

5Discriminating among tectonic settings of spinel based on multiple machine learning algorithms显示文摘In geochemistry,researchers usually discriminate among tectonic settings by analyzing the chemistry elements of minerals.Previous studies have generally taken spinel and monoclinic pyroxene as subjects.Therefore,in this research,we took spinel as a breakthrough.Totally 1898 spinel samples with 14-dimension chemistry elements were collected from three different tectonic settings,including ocean island,convergent margin,and spreading center.In the experiment,20 classification algorithms were conducted in the classification learner application of MATLAB.The validation accuracies,receiver operating characteristic curves(ROCs),and the areas under ROC curve(AUCs)show that the Bag Ensemble Classifier has the best performance in the problem.Its validation accuracy is 86.3%,and the average AUC is 0.957.For further analysis,we studied the importance of different major elements in discriminating.It has been found that TiO2 has the best impact on discrimination,and FeOT,Al2O3,Cr2O3,MgO,MnO,and ZnO are of less importance.Based on the Bag Ensemble Classifier,a MATLAB plug-in application named Discriminator of Spinel Tectonic Setting(DSTS)has been developed for promoting the usage of machine learning in geochemistry and facilitating other researchers to use our achievements.Shuai Han Mingchao Li Qiubing Ren 2019Big Earth Data2019,3,1:1

9Amelioration of ethanol-induced oxidative stress and alcoholic liver disease by in vivo RNAi targeting Cyp2e1显示文摘Alcoholic liver disease(ALD)results from continuous and heavy alcohol consumption.The current treatment strategy for ALD is based on alcohol withdrawal coupled with antioxidant drug intervention,which is a long process with poor efficacy and low patient compliance.Alcohol-induced CYP2E1 upregulation has been demonstrated as a key regulator of ALD,but CYP2E1 knockdown in humans was impractical,and pharmacological inhibition of CYP2E1 by a clinically relevant approach for treating ALD was not shown.In this study,we developed a RNAi therapeutics delivered by lipid nanoparticle,and treated mice fed on Lieber-DeCarli ethanol liquid diet weekly for up to 12 weeks.This RNAi-based inhibition of Cyp2e1 expression reduced reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress in mouse livers,and contributed to improved ALD symptoms in mice.The liver fat accumulation,hepatocyte inflammation,and fibrosis were reduced in ALD models.Therefore,this study suggested the feasibility of RNAi targeting to CYP2E1 as a potential therapeutic tool to the development of ALD.Yalan Wang Qiubing Chen Shuang Wu Xinyu Sun Runting Yin Zhen Ouyang Hao Yin Yuan Wei 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,9:0
10Tuning C-C sp2/sp3 ratio of DLC films in FCVA system for biomedical application显示文摘Diamond like carbon(DLC)films with different C-C sp2/sp3 ratios were prepared by tuning the N2 flow rate in a filtered cathodic vacuum arc(FCVA)system.The increase of N2 flow rate facilitated the increase of C-C sp2/sp3 ratio(1.09-2.66),the growth of particle size(0.78-1.58 nm)and the improvement of surface roughness.The SBF immersion results,as well as WCAs(77.57°~71.71°),hemolysis rate(0.14-1.00%)and cytotoxicity level(0)demonstrated that the as-fabricated DLC film was promising for biomedical application.As a result of surface charge effect,the apatite layers formed in the SBF increased with the increase of C-C sp2/sp3 ratio until 1.74 and then showed a tiny decrease during 1.74-2.66.A raise of hemolysis and cytotoxicity was observed when sp2/sp3 ratio was increased.Moreover,a decrease of friction coefficient of Si surface induced by increasing sp2/sp3 ratio was respectively evidenced in ambient air and SBF lubrication environments.Xi Rao Jihan Yang Zilin Chen Yidie Yuan Qiubing Chen Xue Feng Lizhao Qin Yongping Zhang 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,2:0
