2Ferroptosis:molecular mechanisms and health implications显示文摘Cell death can be executed through different subroutines.Since the description of ferroptosis as an iron-dependent form of nonapoptotic cell death in 2012,there has been mounting interest in the process and function of ferroptosis.Ferroptosis can occur through two major pathways,the extrinsic or transporter-dependent pathway and the intrinsic or enzyme-regulated pathway.Ferroptosis is caused by a redox imbalance between the production of oxidants and antioxidants,which is driven by the abnormal expression and activity of multiple redox-active enzymes that produce or detoxify free radicals and lipid oxidation products.Accordingly,ferroptosis is precisely regulated at multiple levels,including epigenetic,transcriptional,posttranscriptional and posttranslational layers.The transcription factor NFE2L2 plays a central role in upregulating anti-ferroptotic defense,whereas selective autophagy may promote ferroptotic death.Here,we review current knowledge on the integrated molecular machinery of ferroptosis and describe how dysregulated ferroptosis is involved in cancer,neurodegeneration,tissue injury,inflammation,and infection.Daolin Tang Xin Chen Rui Kang Guido Kroemer 2021Cell Research2021,31,2:182

4Measuring reliability under epistemic uncertainty:Review on non-probabilistic reliability metrics显示文摘In this paper,a systematic review of non-probabilistic reliability metrics is conducted to assist the selection of appropriate reliability metrics to model the influence of epistemic uncertainty.Five frequently used non-probabilistic reliability metrics are critically reviewed,i.e.,evidencetheory-based reliability metrics,interval-analysis-based reliability metrics,fuzzy-interval-analysisbased reliability metrics,possibility-theory-based reliability metrics(posbist reliability) and uncertainty-theory-based reliability metrics(belief reliability).It is pointed out that a qualified reliability metric that is able to consider the effect of epistemic uncertainty needs to(1) compensate the conservatism in the estimations of the component-level reliability metrics caused by epistemic uncertainty,and(2) satisfy the duality axiom,otherwise it might lead to paradoxical and confusing results in engineering applications.The five commonly used non-probabilistic reliability metrics are compared in terms of these two properties,and the comparison can serve as a basis for the selection of the appropriate reliability metrics.Kang Rui ZhangQingyuan Zeng Zhiguo Enrico Zio Li Xiaoyang 2016Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,3:18
5Comparison of dust emissions, transport, and deposition between the Taklimakan Desert and Gobi Desert from 2007 to 2011显示文摘The Taklimakan Desert(TD) and Gobi Desert(GD) are two of the most important dust sources in East Asia, and have important impact on energy budgets, ecosystems and water cycles at regional and even global scales. To investigate the contribution of the TD and the GD to dust concentrations in East Asia as a whole, dust emissions, transport, and deposition over the TD and the GD in different seasons from 2007 to 2011 were systematically compared, based on the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry(WRF-Chem). Dust emissions, uplift, and long-range transport related to these two dust source regions were markedly different due to differences in topography, elevation, thermal conditions, and atmospheric circulation. Specifically,the topography of the GD is relatively flat, and at a high elevation, and the area is under the influence of two jet streams at high altitudes, resulting in high wind speeds in the upper atmosphere. Deep convective mixing enables the descending branch of jet streams to continuously transport momentum downward to the mid-troposphere, leading to enhanced wind speeds in the lower troposphere over the GD which favors the vertical uplift of the GD dust particles. Therefore, the GD dust was very likely to be transported under the effect of strong westerly jets, and thus played the most important role in contributing to dust concentrations in East Asia. Approximately 35% and 31% of dust emitted from the GD transported to remote areas in East Asia in spring and summer, respectively. The TD has the highest dust emission capabilities in East Asia, with emissions of about 70.54 Tg yr.1 in spring, accounting for 42% of the total dust emissions in East Asia. However, the TD is located in the Tarim Basin and surrounded by mountains on three sides. Furthermore, the dominant surface wind direction is eastward and the average wind speed at high altitudes is relatively small over the TD. As a result, the TD dust particles are not easily transported outside the Tarim Basin, such that most of the dust particles are re-deposited after uplift, at a total deposition rate of about 40 g m.2. It is only when the TD dust particles are uplifted above 4 km, and entrained in westerlies that they begin to undergo a long-range transport. Therefore,the contribution of the TD dust to East Asian dust concentrations was relatively small. 6Procalcitionin as a diagnostic marker to distinguish upper and lower gastrointestinal perforation显示文摘AIM To assess the accuracy of serum procalcitionin(PCT)as a diagnostic marker in verifying upper and lower gastrointestinal perforation(GIP).METHODS This retrospective study included 46 patients from the surgical intensive care unit(ICU)of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University who were confirmed to have GIP between June 2013 and December 2016.Demographic and clinical patient data were recorded on admission to ICU.Patients were divided into upper(n=19)and lower(n=27)GIP groups according to the perforation site(above or below Treitz ligament).PCT and WBC count was obtained before laparotomy and then compared between groups.Meanwhile,the diagnostic accuracy of PCT was analyzed.RESULTS Patients with lower GIP exhibited significantly higher APACHE II score,SOFA score and serum PCT level than patients with upper GIP(P=0.017,0.004,and0.001,respectively).There was a significant positive correlation between serum PCT level and APACHE II score or SOFA score(r=0.715 and r=0.611,respectively),while there was a significant negative correlation between serum PCT level and prognosis(r=-0.414).WBC count was not significantly different between the two groups,and WBC count showed no significant correlation with serum PCT level,APACHE II score,SOFA score or prognosis.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of PCT level to distinguish upper or lower GIP was 0.778.Patients with a serum PCT level above 17.94 ng/d L had a high likelihood of lower GIP,with a sensitivity of 100%and a specificity of 42.1%.CONCLUSION Serum PCT level is a reliable and accurate diagnostic marker in identifying upper or lower GIP before laparotomy.Yang Gao Kai-Jiang Yu Kai Kang Hai-Tao Liu Xing Zhang Rui Huang Jing-Dong Qu Si-Cong Wang Rui-Jin Liu Yan-Song Liu Hong-Liang Wang 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,24:12

8Spatial and temporal variation of haze in China from 1961 to 2012显示文摘The purpose of this study is to analyze the climatic characteristics and long-term spatial and temporal variations of haze occurrence in China. The impact factors of haze trends are also discussed. Meteorological data from 1961 to 2012 and daily PM10 concentrations from2003 to 2012 were employed in this study. The results indicate that the annual-average hazy days at all stations have been increasing rapidly from 4 days in 1961 to 18 days in 2012. The maximum number of haze days occur in winter(41.1%) while the minimum occur in summer(10.4%). During 1961-2012, the high occurrence areas of haze shifted from central to south and east regions of China. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(Jing-Jin-Ji) region, Shanxi,Shaanxi, and Henan Province are the high occurrence areas for haze, while the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) and the Pearl River Delta(PRD) have become regions with high haze occurrences in the last 25 years. Temperature and pressure are positively correlated with the number of haze days. However, wind, relative humidity, precipitation, and sunshine duration are negatively correlated with the number of haze days. The key meteorological factors affecting the formation and dissipation of haze vary for high and low altitudes, and are closely related to anthropogenic activities. 9Characteristics and formation mechanism of regional haze episodes in the Pearl River Delta of China显示文摘To investigate the characteristics and the specific mechanism of continuous haze,comprehensive measurements were conducted from 15 October to 19 November in the Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Super-Station in Heshan of Guangdong province.Five haze episodes occurred in October and November 2014 in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region. The meteorological parameters, gas data, chemical compositions, and optical parameters of the aerosols were obtained. Among these events, the second haze episode,with the highest concentration of PM2.5 of 187.51 μg/m^3, was the most severe. NO^3-was always higher than SO_4^(2-), which indicated that motor vehicles played an important role in the haze, even though the oxidation rate from SO_2 to SO_4^(2-)was faster than that of NOXto NO_3^-. The difference between the hourly averages of Na+and K+during the haze episode and clean days was small, implying that straw combustion and sea salt had no significant effect on the occurrence of haze, and the backward trajectories of the air masses also conformed with this result. The air pollutants were difficult to disperse because of the significant decrease in the planetary boundary layer(PBL) height. 10Comparison between the surface defects caused by Al_2O_3 and TiN inclusions in interstitial-free steel auto sheets显示文摘Al_2O_3 and TiN inclusions in interstitial-free(IF) steel deteriorate the properties of the steel. To decrease the defects of cold-rolled sheet, it is important to clearly distinguish between the degrees of damage caused by these two inclusions on the surface quality of the steel. In this study, a nanoindenter was used to test the mechanical properties of the inclusions, and the distribution and size of the inclusions were obtained by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). It was found that when only mechanical properties are considered, TiN inclusions are more likely to cause defects than Al_2O_3 inclusions of the same size during the rolling process. However, Al_2O_3 inclusions are generally more inclined to cause defects in the rolling process than TiN inclusions because of their distribution characteristic in the thickness direction. The precipitation of Al_2O_3 and TiN was obtained through thermodynamical calculations. The growth laws of inclusions at different cooling rates were calculated by solidification and segregation models. 11Emodin alleviates cardiac fibrosis by suppressing activation of cardiac fibroblasts via upregulating metastasis associated protein 3显示文摘Excess activation of cardiac fibroblasts inevitably induces cardiac fibrosis. Emodin has been used as a natural medicine against several chronic diseases. The objective of this study is to determine the effects of emodin on cardiac fibrosis and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Intragastric administration of emodin markedly decreased left ventricular wall thickness in a mouse model of pathological cardiac hypertrophy with excess fibrosis induced by transaortic constriction(TAC) and suppressed activation of cardiac fibroblasts induced by angiotensin II(AngII). Emodin upregulated expression of metastasis associated protein 3(MTA3) and restored the MTA3 expression in the setting of cardiac fibrosis. Moreover, overexpression of MTA3 promoted cardiac fibrosis;in contrast, silence of MTA3 abrogated the inhibitory effect of emodin on fibroblast activation. 12Coupling behavior between adhesive and abrasive wear mechanism of aero-hydraulic spool valves显示文摘Leakage due to wear is one of the main failure modes of aero-hydraulic spool valves.This paper established a practical coupling wear model for aero-hydraulic spool valves based on dynamic system modelling theory. Firstly, the experiment for wear mechanism verification proved that adhesive wear and abrasive wear did coexist during the working process of spool valves. Secondly coupling behavior of each wear mechanism was characterized by analyzing actual timevariation of model parameters during wear evolution process. Meanwhile, Archard model and three-body abrasive wear model were utilized for adhesive wear and abrasive wear, respectively.Furthermore, their coupling wear model was established by calculating the actual wear volume.Finally, from the result of formal test, all the required parameters for our model were obtained.The relative error between model prediction and data of pre-test was also presented to verify the accuracy of model, which demonstrated that our model was useful for providing accurate prediction of spool valve's wear life.Chen Yunxia Gong Wenjun Kang Rui 2016Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,4:10
13Model-driven degradation modeling approaches:Investigation and review显示文摘The second law of thermodynamics implies that any animate and inanimate systems degrade and inevitably stops functioning.It is irreversible over time that can be labeled as‘‘the degradation arrow of time'.From perspective of products’reliability design,it is essential to build appropriate models of describing the degradation arrow of time.The current modeling approaches mainly include the model-driven(having assumed forms based on cognitive experience of mankind)and data-driven(using data learning techniques without form hypothesis)approaches.In this paper,we just investigate and review the model-driven degradation approaches,hoping to provide suggestions of the model construction or selection for scholars or engineers.First,for the single mechanism,degradation law models and stochastic process models are classified as separately depicting the tendency and fluctuation of degradation.For the degradation law model,we propose the concept of meta-models as original types for various personal models.For the stochastic process model,two main types including the non-monotonic and monotonical types are presented.Then,four multi-mechanism degradation types are discussed,that are competitive degradation,multi-stage degradation,coexistence of degradation and impact,and coexistence of degradation and failure.Besides,for the multi-performance degradation,independent and coupling models are introduced.The forms,connotations,applicability and insufficiency of these models are described with a series of examples from the literature and our own experiences.The final explicit suggestions about the potential future work are provided for the development of new degradation models.Rui KANG Wenjun GONG Yunxia CHEN 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,4:9
14A methodology for 3D modeling and visualization of geological objects显示文摘Geological body structure is the product of the geological evolution in the time dimension, which is presented in 3D configuration in the natural world. However, many geologists still record and process their geological data using the 2D or 1D pattern, which results in the loss of a large quantity of spatial data. One of the reasons is that the current methods have limitations on how to express underground geological objects. To analyze and interpret geological models, we present a layer data model to organize different kinds of geological datasets. The data model implemented the unification expression and storage of geological data and geometric models. In addition, it is a method for visualizing large-scaled geological datasets through building multi-resolution geological models rapidly, which can meet the demand of the operation, analysis, and interpretation of 3D geological objects. 15Application of reliability technologies in civil aviation: Lessons learnt and perspectives显示文摘We consider reliability engineering in modern civil aviation industry, and the related engineering activities and methods. We consider reliability in a broad sense, referring to other system characteristics that are related to it, like availability, maintainability, safety and durability. We covered the entire lifecycle of the equipment, including reliability requirement identification, reliability analysis and design, verification and validation of reliability requirements(typically involved in the equipment design and development phase), quality assurance(which typically enters in the manufacturing phase), and fault diagnosis and prognosis and maintenance(which are connected to the operation phase). 16Using PoF models to predict system reliability considering failure collaboration显示文摘Existing Physics-of-Failure-based(PoF-based) system reliability prediction methods are grounded on the independence assumption, which overlooks the dependency among the components. In this paper, a new type of dependency, referred to as failure collaboration, is introduced and considered in reliability predictions. A Po F-based model is developed to describe the failure behavior of systems subject to failure collaboration. Based on the developed model, the Bisection-based Reliability Analysis Method(BRAM) is exploited to calculate the system reliability. The developed methods are applied to predicting the reliability of a Hydraulic Servo Actuator(HSA). 17Joint optimization of LORA and spares stocks considering corrective maintenance time显示文摘Level of repair analysis(LORA) is an important method of maintenance decision for establishing systems of operation and maintenance in the equipment development period. Currently, the research on equipment of repair level focuses on economic analysis models which are used to optimize costs and rarely considers the maintenance time required by the implementation of the maintenance program. In fact, as to the system requiring high mission complete success, the maintenance time is an important factor which has a great influence on the availability of equipment systems. Considering the relationship between the maintenance time and the spares stocks level, it is obvious that there are contradictions between the maintenance time and the cost. In order to balance these two factors, it is necessary to build an optimization LORA model. To this end, the maintenance time representing performance characteristic is introduced, and on the basis of spares stocks which is traditionally regarded as a decision variable, a decision variable of repair level is added, and a multi-echelon multiindenture(MEMI) optimization LORA model is built which takes the best cost-effectiveness ratio as the criterion, the expected number of backorder(EBO) as the objective function and the cost as the constraint. Besides, the paper designs a convex programming algorithm of multi-variable for the optimization model, provides solutions to the non-convex objective function and methods for improving the efficiency of the algorithm. 18Efficient spectral regulation in Ce:Lu_(3)(Al,Cr)_(5)O_(12) and Ce:Lu_(3)(Al,Cr)_(5)O_(12)/Ce:Y_(3)Al_(5)O_(12) transparent ceramics with high color rendering index for high-power white LEDs/LDs显示文摘Realizing a high color rendering index(CRI)in Ce:LuAG transparent ceramics(TCs)with desired thermal stability is essential to their applications in white LEDs/LDs as color converters.In this study,based on the scheme of configuring the red component by Cr^(3+) doping,an efficient spectral regulation was realized in Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs.A unilateral shift phenomenon could be observed in both photoluminescence(PL)and photoluminescence excitation(PLE)spectra of TCs.By constructing TC-based white LED/LD devices in a remote excitation mode,luminescence properties of Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs were systematically investigated.The CRI values of Ce:LuAG TC based white LEDs could be increased by a magnitude of 46.2%.Particularly,by combining the as fabricated Ce,Cr:LuAG TCs with a 0.5 at% Ce:YAG TC,surprising CRI values of 88 and 85.5 were obtained in TC based white LEDs and LDs,respectively.Therefore,Ce,Cr:LuAG TC is a highly promising color convertor for high-power white LEDs/LDs applied in general lighting and displaying.Tianyuan ZHOU Chen HOU Le ZHANG Yuelong MA Jian KANG Tao LI Rui WANG Jin HUANG Junwei LI Haidong REN Zhenxiao FU Farida ASELIM Ming LI Hao CHEN 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,5:7
