| 1 | Blood perfusion of the contralateral testis evaluated with contrast-enhanced ultrasound in rabbits with unilateral testicular torsion显示文摘The changes of blood perfusion of contralateral testis after unilateral testicular torsion remain controversial.In this study,28 New Zealand white male rabbits were randomly divided into five groups.Group A(n=8),the control group,underwent a sham operation on the unilateral testis without inducing testicular torsion.In groups B,C,and D(n=5 each),unilateral testicular torsion was induced,and,after 3,6 or 24 h,respectively,detorsion was performed.In group E(n=5),permanent unilateral testicular torsion was applied.Contrast-enhanced ultrasound was used to observe the blood perfusion of the contralateral testis at the following stages:pre-torsion(preopration),immediately post-torsion(postopration),pre-detorsion,immediately post-detorsion,and late-stage post-detorsion(6-12 h post-detorsion in groups B-D)or at a similar time point(15-21 h post-torsion in group E).Time-intensity curves were generated,and the following parameters were derived and analyzed:arrival time,time to peak intensity,peak intensity,and half-time of the descending peak intensity.The analysis revealed that blood perfusion of the contralateral testis increased immediately after testicular torsion on the opposite side(P<0.05),which increased with prolonged testicular torsion of the other testis.This research demonstrated that contrast-enhanced ultrasound was valuable in evaluating blood perfusion of the contralateral testis after unilateral testicular torsion. | Lin Chen Wei-Wei Zhan Zhou-Jun Shen Wen-Bin Rui Chen Lv Man Chen Jian-Qiao Zhou Ping Zhou Mi Zhou Ying Zhu | 2009 | Asian Journal of Andrology2009,11,2: | 10 |
| 2 | Transparent and flame retardant cellulose/aluminum hydroxide nanocomposite aerogels显示文摘Cellulose-based nanocomposite aerogels were prepared by incorporation of aluminum hydroxide(AH) nanoparticles into cellulose gels via in-situ sol-gel synthesis and following supercritical CO_2 drying. The structure and properties of cellulose/AH nanocomposite aerogels were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy,ultraviolet-visible spectrometry, N_2 adsorption, thermogravimetric analysis, and micro-scale combustion calorimetry. The results indicated that the AH nanoparticles were homogeneously distributed within matrix, and the presence of AH nanoparticles did not affect the homogeneous nanoporous structure and morphology of regenerated cellulose aerogels prepared from1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride solution. The resultant nanocomposite aerogels exhibited good transparency and excellent mechanical properties. Moreover, the incorporation of AH was found to significantly decrease the flammability of cellulose aerogels. | 3 | Differences in atheroma between Caucasian and Asian subjects with anterior stroke:A vessel wall MRI study显示文摘Background and purpose While extracranial carotid artery stenosis is more common among Caucasians and intracranial artery stenosis is more common among Asians,the differences in atherosclerotic plaque characteristics have not yet been extensively examined.We sought to investigate plaque location and characteristics within extracranial carotid and intracranial arteries in symptomatic Caucasians and Chinese using vessel wall MRI.Methods Subjects with recent anterior circulation ischaemic stroke were recruited and imaged at two sites in the USA and China using similar protocols.Both extracranial carotid and intracranial arteries were reviewed to determine plaque location and characteristics.Results The prevalence of extracranial carotid plaque in Caucasians and Chinese was 73.1%and 49.1%,respectively(p=0.055).Prevalence of intracranial plaque was 38.5%and 69.1%in Caucasians and Chinese,respectively(p=0.02).Furthermore,42% of Caucasians and 16%of Chinese had high-risk plaque(HRP)features(intraplaque haemorrhage,luminal surface disruption)in the extracranial carotid artery(p=0.03).The prevalence of HRP features in intracranial arteries was not significantly different between the two cohorts(4%vs 11%;p=0.42).Conclusions Differences in the location and characteristics of cerebrovascular atherosclerosis were identified by vessel wall MRI in US Caucasian and Chinese subjects with recent anterior circulation ischaemic stroke.Extracranial carotid plaques with HRP features were more common in Caucasians.Intracranial plaques were more common in Chinese subjects,but no significant difference between the two cohorts in intracranial HRP prevalence was found.Larger studies using vessel wall imaging to investigate racial differences in cerebrovascular disease may inform underlying mechanisms of HRP development and may ultimately help guide appropriate therapy. | Hiroko Watase Mi Shen Binbin Sui Peiyi Gao Dong Zhang Jie Sun Niranjan Balu Daniel S Hippe Gail P Jarvik Xihai Zhao Rui Li Shuo Chen Chun Yuan Thomas S Hatsukami | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1: | 4 |

Fe_3O_4 NPs were firstly prepared via the high temperature diol thermal decomposition method. Fe_3O_4@C NPs were fabricated using glucose as a carbon source by hydrothermal process. The obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) and Raman spectra. The results indicate that the original shapes and magnetic property of Fe_3O_4 NPs can be well preserved. The magnetic particles are well dispersed in the carbon matrix. This strategy would provide an efficient approach for existing applications in Li-ion batteries and drug delivery. | 8 | Duplication and transcriptional divergence of three Kunitz protease inhibitor genes that modulate insect and pathogen defenses in tea plant(Camellia sinensis)显示文摘Kunitz protease inhibitors(KPIs)are ubiquitous in plants and act as crucial compounds in defense responses against insect attack and pathogen infection.However,the influence of gene duplication on the postdivergence of the CsKPI genes involved in biotic stresses in tea plant is not well known.Here,we identified three CsKPI genes from tea plant(Camellia sinensis)and characterized their expression and evolutionary patterns among plant species.We found that CsKPI1,CsKPI2,and CsKPI3 diverged from their common ancestor 72.94 million years ago(MYA),and the tandem duplication of CsKPI2 and CsKPI3 occurred 26.78 MYA.An in vitro protein assay showed that the three CsKPI proteins were functional and inhibited the production of p-nitroanilide(PNA)from an artificial substrate.The three CsKPI-GFP fusion proteins localized to the cytoplasm.We showed that salicylic acid(SA)and transcripts of CsKPI2 and CsKPI3 significantly accumulated after infection with Glomerella cingulata.The application of exogenous SA stimulated the high expression of both CsKPI2 and CsKPI3 by activating cis-elements within their promoters.Under Ectropis oblique attack,CsKPI1 expression and jasmonic acid(JA)levels were more abundant in both insect-damaged leaf tissues and undamaged neighboring leaves.The application of jasmonic acid methyl ester elicited high expression levels of CsKPI1,suggesting that CsKPI1 accumulation requires JA production in tea plant.The overall findings suggest that the transcriptional divergence of KPI genes after duplication led to the specialized role of CsKPI1 in the physiological response to insect stress;the functional conservation between CsKPI2 and CsKPI3 confers resistance to pathogen infection in tea plant. | Junyan Zhu Yaxian He Xiaomei Yan Lu Liu Rui Guo Xiaobo Xia Daojie Cheng Xiaozeng Mi Lidiia Samarina Shenrui Liu Enhua Xia Chaoling Wei | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 2 |
| 9 | Curative effect observation on deformed auricle treated with EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with modular parents'nursing education显示文摘Objective:To investigate the efficacy and patient satisfaction of the EarWell Infant Ear Correction System combined with modular parents'nursing education's curative effect on deformed auricle.Methods:A total of 42 patients(29 boys and 13 girls;73 ears;age≤3 months)with auricle deformities who had received EarWell Infant Ear Correction System's treatment and modular parents'nursing education in Guangzhou Children and Women's Medical Center between April and October 2018.The modular parents'education program is standardized by EarWell system.Physician and patients'parents compared the severity of auricle deformity separately before and after the treatment by using the auricle deformities visual analogue scales(VAS)rating system.Patient satisfaction was evaluated by using global aesthetic improvement scale(GAIS).The data collected of auricle deformities VAS and GAIS satisfaction score were applied to measure the treatment's effectiveness.Results:All the 42 patients(73 external ears)completed the treatment with EarWell Infant Ear Correction System and modular parents'nursing education.The mean age at initiation of treatment was 37.87±19.44 days and the therapeutic time span was 47.21±17.36 days.At the end of treatment,the physician's and patients'guardians rating of the severity of auricle deformity were significantly improved separately compared to the initial rating(8.33±1.27 vs.6.51±0.84;P<0.005)(5.77±1.59 vs.8.19±2.38 P<0.05).During the treatment and parents'home nursing care period,the side effect and complications were minor like skin eczema and irrigation;there were no severe complications such as necrosis of the skin and cartilage.The patient tolerance for the treatment was acceptable with the adequate parents'nursing care.Most patients'guardians were satisfied with the treatment outcomes of EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with more engagement of nursing care,the GAIS's rating were increased from pretreatment stage's 26.19%to treatment completed stage's 90.48%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:In this study,we proved that EarWell Infant Ear Correction System with its unique parents'modular nursing care education,as a noninvasive treatment,reasonably improved auricle morphological malformation,and patients'guardians satisfaction with few complications,which is worthy of a wildly clinical promotion. | Wei Wei Ren-Zhong Luo Zhen-Yun Huang Rui Mi | 2020 | Frontiers of Nursing2020,7,2: | 2 |
