Apoptosis and Proinflammatory Cytokine Responses of Primary Mouse Microglia and Astrocytes Induced by Human H1N1 and Avian H5N1 Influenza Viruses显示文摘Patients with an influenza virus infection can be complicated by acute encephalopathy and encephalitis. To investigate the immune reactions involved in the neurocomplication, mouse microglia and astrocytes were isolated, infected with human H1N1 and avian H5N1 influenza viruses, and examined for their immune responses. We observed homogeneously distributed viral receptors, sialic acid (SA)-α2,3-Galactose (Gal) and SA-α2,6-Gal,on microglia and astrocytes. Both viruses were replicative and productive in microglia and astrocytes. Virus-induced apoptosis and cytopathy in infected cells were observed at 24 h post-infection (p.i.). Expression of IL-1β,IL-6 and TNF-α mRNA examined at 6 h and 24 h p.i. was up-regulated,and their expression levels were considerably higher in H5N1 infection. The amounts of secreted proinflammatory IL-1β,IL-6 and TNF-α at 6 h and 24 h p.i. were also induced, with greater induction by H5N1 infection. This study is the first demonstration that both human H1N1 and avian H5N1 influenza viruses can infect mouse microglia and astrocytes and induce apoptosis, cytopathy, and proinflammatory cytokine production in them in vitro. Our results suggest that the direct cellular damage and the consequences of immunopathological injury in the CNS contribute to the influenza viral pathogenesis. | Gefei Wang Juan Zhang Weizhong Li Yun Su Yuanli Gao Heng Zhang Guimei Lin Xiaoyang Jiao Kangsheng Li | 2008 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2008,5,2: | 28
Experimental study on the effects of HP and LP EGR on thermal efficiency and emissions of a two-stage turbocharged diesel engine显示文摘An experimental study was performed to compare the effects of high-and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation loops(HP and LP EGR loops)on thermal efficiency and emissions of a diesel engine.Tests were conducted on a 12-L six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine under various operating conditions. We found that at a low speed of 1100 r/min,1 MPa BMEP,the LP EGR loop could achieve higher brake thermal efficiency and lower emissions than the HP EGR.This is because the lower enthalpy available at the turbine inlet of the HP EGR loop increased the fuel/oxygen equivalence ratio. For the HP EGR,the gross indicated thermal efficiency was reduced by 1%,but pumping losses were only reduced by 0.5%,compared to the LP EGR loop.At a higher speed of 1600 r/min,1 MPa BMEP,the HP EGR loop attained a higher brake thermal efficiency and lower emissions because of the relatively sufficient flow through the turbocharger. For the HP EGR loop, the gross indicated thermal efficiency was only reduced by 0.5%and pumping losses were reduced by 1.5%,compared to the LP EGR loop.Lower fuel consumption and a longer ignition delay made the distribution of fuel/oxygen equivalence ratio more homogeneous, leading to lower emissions. Our data also showed that at the high speed of 1600 r/min,0.55 MPa BMEP,the brake thermal efficiency of the HP EGR loop first increased, then decreased as the EGR rate increased. Therefore, under all conditions,a reasonable match of both EGR loops could achieve a good balance between fuel consumption and emissions of NOx and soot. | WU BinYang PU YouZhe YU XiaoYang SU WanHua | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,2: | 6
Land use effects on soil organic carbon, nitrogen and salinity in saline-alkaline wetland显示文摘Land-use and soil management affects soil organic carbon (SOC) pools, nitrogen, salinity and the depth distribution. The objective of this study was to estimate land-use effects on the distribution of SOC, labile fractions C, nitrogen (N) and salinity in saline-alkaline wetlands in the middle reaches of the Heihe River Basin. Three land-use types were selected: intact saline-alkaline meadow wetland, artificial shrubbery (planting Tamarix) and farmland (cultivated for 18 years) of soils previously under meadow wetland. SOC, easily oxidized carbon, microbial biomass carbon, total N, NO3--N and salinity concentrations were measured. The results show that SOC and labile fraction carbon contents decreased significantly with increasing soil depth in the three land-use wetlands. The labile fraction carbon contents in the topsoil (0-20cm) in cultivated soils were significantly higher than that in intact meadow wetland and artificial shrubbery soil. The aboveground biomass and soil permeability were the primary influencing factors on the contents of SOC and the labile carbon in the intact meadow wetland and artificial shrubbery soil, however, the farming practice was a factor in cultivated soil. Agricultural measures can effectively reduce the salinity contents; however, it caused a significant increase of NO 3--N concentrations which posed a threat to groundwater quality in the study area. | WenJie Liu YongZhong Su Rong Yang XueFengWang XiaoYang | 2010 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,3: | 6
Targeting slug-mediated non-canonical activation of c-Met to overcome chemo-resistance in metastatic ovarian cancer cells显示文摘Metastasis-associated drug resistance accounts for high mortality in ovarian cancer and remains to be a major barrier for effective treatment. In this study, SKOV3/T4, a metastatic subpopulation of ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells, was enriched to explore potential interventions against metastaticassociated drug resistance. Quantitative genomic and functional analyses were performed and found that slug was significantly increased in the SKOV3/T4 subpopulation and contributed to the high resistance of SKOV3/T4. Further studies showed that slug activated c-Met in a ligand-independent manner due to elevated levels of fibronectin and provoked integrin α V function, which was confirmed by the significant correlation of slug and p-Met levels in 121 ovarian cancer patient samples. Intriguingly,c-Met inhibitor(s) exhibited greatly enhanced anti-cancer effects in slug-positive ovarian cancer models both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, IHC analyses revealed that slug levels were highly correlated with reduced survival of ovarian cancer patients. Taken together, this study not only uncovers the critical roles of slug in drug resistance in ovarian cancer but also highlights a promising therapeutic strategy by targeting the noncanonical activation of c-Met in slug-positive ovarian cancer patients with poor prognosis. | Linlin Chang Yan Hu Yingying Fu Tianyi Zhou Jun You Jiamin Du Lin Zheng Ji Cao Meidan Ying Xiaoyang Dai Dan Su Qiaojun He Hong Zhu Bo Yang | 2019 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2019,9,3: | 3
Mediating role of resilience in the relationship between COVID-19 related stigma and mental health among COVID-19 survivors:a cross-sectional study显示文摘Background The global coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has caused many negative effects on physical and mental health of patients who have survived COVID-19.Apart from some long-lasting physical sequelae, those COVID-19 survivors are also suffering stigma and discrimination at different levels around the world. The current study aims to assess the role resilience played in stigma and mental disorders among COVID-19 survivors. Methods The cross-sectional study was carried out among former COVID-19 patients in Jianghan District(Wuhan,China)from June 10 to July 25,2021.The demographic questions, the Impact of Events Scale-Revised,the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire, the Patient Health Questionnaire, the Resilience Style Questionnaire and the Short Version of COVID-19 Stigma Scale of 12 items were used to collect relevant information of the participants.Descriptive analyses,Pearson correlation analysis and Structural Equation Modeling were used to make data description and analysis. Results A total of 1541 out of 1601 COVID-19 survivors(887 females and 654 males)were included in the analysis.Perceived stigma of those COVID-19 survivors correlates significantly with anxiety(r=0.335,P<0.001),depression(r=0.325,P<0.001)and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)(r=0.384,P<0.001).It has a direct effect on COVID-19 survivors’anxiety(β=0.326,P<0.001),depression(β=0.314,P<0.001),PTSD(β=0.385,P<0.001)and their resilience(β=−0.114,P<0.01).Resilience partially mediated the association between perceived stigma and anxiety(β=0.020,P<0.01),depression(β=0.020,P<0.01),and PTSD(β=0.014,P<0.01)among COVID-19 survivors. Conclusion Stigma has a significant negative impact on mental health, while resilience plays a mediator role in the relationship between stigma and mental health among COVID-19 survivors.Based on our study,we suggested that when designing psychological interventions for COVID-19 survivors, consideration should be taken into account to reduce stigma and improve resilience. | Weijun Xiao Xiaoyang Liu Hao Wang Yiman Huang Zhenwei Dai Mingyu Si Jiaqi Fu Xu Chen Mengmeng Jia Zhiwei Leng Dan Cui Winnie W.S.Mak Liming Dong Xiaoyou Su | 2023 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,2: | 0

Axial flow structure of solids holdup in an 18-m high-density CFB riser based on pressure measurements显示文摘The axial flow structure in a high-density CFB riser having a height of 18 m is investigated on the basis of pressure measurements.Solids circulation rates reach 1400 kg/(m2 s)at superficial gas velocities of 5-9 m/s and the apparent solids holdup exceeds 0.2,indicating high-density operations have been achieved. The apparent solids holdup increases with the solids circulation rate increasing and/or superficial gas velocity decreasing.Axial distributions of the apparent solids holdup have exponential shapes with denser regions at the bottom and more dilute regions in the upper part. The apparent slip velocity increases with the increasing solids holdup and reaches 14 m/s,showing that there are more opportunities of cluster formation in high-density operation.Furthermore, the apparent slip velocity has a power relation with the apparent solids holdup under a wide range of operating conditions. | Xin Su Chengxiu Wang Xingying Lan Huajian Pei Xiaoyang Mao Jinsen Gao | 2021 | Particuology2021,19,1: | 0
Evaluation of ICUs and weight of quality control indicators:an exploratory study based on Chinese ICU quality data from 2015 to 2020显示文摘This study aimed to explore key quality control factors that affected the prognosis of intensive care unit(ICU)patients in Chinese mainland over six years(2015–2020).The data for this study were from 31 provincial and municipal hospitals(3425 hospital ICUs)and included 2110685 ICU patients, for a total of 27607376 ICU hospitalization days.We found that 15 initially established quality control indicators were good predictors of patient prognosis, including percentage of ICU patients out of all inpatients(%),percentage of ICU bed occupancy of total inpatient bed occupancy(%),percentage of all ICU inpatients with an APACHE II score≥15(%),three-hour(surviving sepsis campaign)SSC bundle compliance(%),six-hour SSC bundle compliance(%),rate of microbe detection before antibiotics(%),percentage of drug deep venous thrombosis(DVT)prophylaxis(%),percentage of unplanned endotracheal extubations(%),percentage of patients reintubated within 48 hours(%),unplanned transfers to the ICU(%),48-h ICU readmission rate(%),ventilator associated pneumonia(VAP)(per 1000 ventilator days),catheter related blood stream infection(CRBSI)(per 1000 catheter days),catheter-associated urinary tract infections(CAUTI)(per 1000 catheter days),in-hospital mortality(%).When exploratory factor analysis was applied, the 15 indicators were divided into 6 core elements that varied in weight regarding quality evaluation:nosocomial infection management(21.35%),compliance with the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines(17.97%),ICU resources(17.46%),airway management(15.53%),prevention of deep-vein thrombosis(14.07%),and severity of patient condition(13.61%).Based on the different weights of the core elements associated with the 15 indicators,we developed an integrated quality scoring system defined as F score=21.35%xnosocomial infection management+17.97%xcompliance with SSC guidelines+17.46%×ICU resources+15.53%×airway management+14.07%×DVT prevention+13.61%×severity of patient condition. This evidence-based quality scoring system will help in assessing the key elements of quality management and establish a foundation for further optimization of the quality control indicator system. | Longxiang Su Xudong Ma Sifa Gao Zhi Yin Yujie Chen Wenhu Wang Huaiwu He Wei Du Yaoda Hu Dandan Ma Feng Zhang Wen Zhu Xiaoyang Meng Guoqiang Sun Lian Ma Huizhen Jiang Guangliang Shan Dawei Liu Xiang Zhou China-NCCQC | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,4: | 0
Experimental Investigation of the Operating Characteristics of a Pulsating Heat Pipe with Ultra-Pure Water and Micro Encapsulated Phase Change Material Suspension显示文摘The specific heat capacity of working fluid is an important influence factor on heat transfer characteristic of the pulsating heat pipe(PHP).Due to the relatively large specific heat capacity of micro encapsulated phase change material(MEPCM) suspension,a heat transfer performance experimental facility of the PHP was established. The heat transfer characteristic with MEPCM suspension of different mass concentrations(0.5% and 1.0%) and ultra-pure water were compared experimentally. It was found that when the PHP uses MEPCM suspension as its working fluid, operating stability is impoverished under lower heating power and the operating stability is better under higher heating power. At the inclination angle of 90°,the temperature at heating side decreases compared to ultra-pure water and the temperature at heating side decreases with the raising of MEPCM suspension mass concentration. The heat transfer characteristic of the PHP is positively correlated with the inclination angle and the 90° is optimum. The unfavorable effect of the inclination angle decreases with heating power increasing. When the inclination angle is 90°,the PHP with MEPCM suspension at 1.0% of mass concentration has the lowest thermal transfer resistance and followed by ultra-pure water and MEPCM suspension at 0.5% of mass concentration has the highest thermal transfer resistance. When the inclination angles are 60° and30°,the effect of gravity on the flow direction is reduced to 86.6% and 50% of that on the inclination angle of 90°,respectively,and the promoting effect of gravity on the working fluid is further weakened as the inclination angle further decreases.Due to the high viscosity of MEPCM suspension, the PHP with ultra-pure water has the lowest heat transfer resistance. When the inclination angles is 60°,the thermal resistance with MEPCM suspension at0.5% of the mass concentration is lower than that at 1.0% at the heating power below 230 W.The thermal resistance of MEPCM suspension tends to be similar for heating power of 230-250 W.At the heating power above 270 W,the thermal resistance with MEPCM suspension at 1.0% of the mass concentration is lower than that at 0.5%. | SHI Weixiu SU Xiaoyang CHEN Hongdi PAN Lisheng | 2024 | Journal of Thermal Science2024,33,2: | 0
Multidimensional dynamic prediction model for hospitalized patients with the omicron variant in China显示文摘Purpose:To establish dynamic prediction models by machine learning using daily multidimensional data for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.Methods:Hospitalized COVID-19 patients at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from Nov 2nd,2022,to Jan 13th,2023,were enrolled in this study. The outcome was defined as deterioration or recovery of the patient's condition.Demographics, comorbidities, laboratory test results, vital signs, and treatments were used to train the model. To predict the following days,a separate XGBoost model was trained and validated. The Shapley additive explanations method was used to analyze feature importance. Results:A total of 995 patients were enrolled, generating 7228 and 3170 observations for each prediction model. In the deterioration prediction model, the minimum area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)for the following 7 days was 0.786(95%CI 0.721-0.851),while the AUROC on the next day was 0.872(0.831-0.913).In the recovery prediction model, the minimum AUROC for the following 3 days was 0.675(0.583-0.767),while the AUROC on the next day was 0.823(0.770-0.876).The top 5 features for deterioration prediction on the 7th day were disease course, length of hospital stay, hypertension, and diastolic blood pressure. Those for recovery prediction on the 3rd day were age,D-dimer levels, disease course, creatinine levels and corticosteroid therapy. Conclusion:The models could accurately predict the dynamics of Omicron patients’conditions using daily multidimensional variables, revealing important features including comorbidities(e.g.,hyperlipidemia),age,disease course, vital signs,D-dimer levels, corticosteroid therapy and oxygen therapy. | Yujie Chen Yao Wang Jieqing Chen Xudong Ma Longxiang Su Yuna Wei Linfeng Li Dandan Ma Feng Zhang Wen Zhu Xiaoyang Meng Guoqiang Sun Lian Ma Huizhen Jiang Chang Yin Taisheng Li Xiang Zhou China National Critical Care Quality Control Center Group | 2023 | Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,4: | 0
