A Scenario-Based Evaluation of COVID-19-Related Essential Clinical Resource Demands in China显示文摘The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic is a global crisis, and medical systems in many countries are overwhelmed with supply shortages and increasing demands to treat patients due to the surge in cases and severe illnesses. This study aimed to assess COVID-19-related essential clinical resource demands in China, based on different scenarios involving COVID-19 spreads and interventions. We used a susceptible–exposed–infectious–hospitalized/isolated–removed(SEIHR)transmission dynamics model to estimate the number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations with corresponding essential healthcare resources needed. We found that, under strict non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs)or mass vaccination of the population,China would be able to contain community transmission and local outbreaks rapidly. However, under scenarios involving a low intensity of implemented NPIs and a small proportion of the population vaccinated, the use of a peacetime–wartime transition model would be needed for medical source stockpiles and preparations to ensure a normal functioning healthcare system. The implementation of COVID-19 vaccines and NPIs in different periods can influence the transmission of COVID-19 and subsequently affect the demand for clinical diagnosis and treatment. An increased proportion of asymptomatic infections in simulations will not reduce the demand for medical resources;however, attention must be paid to the increasing difficulty in containing COVID-19 transmission due to asymptomatic cases. This study provides evidence for emergency preparations and the adjustment of prevention and control strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides guidance for essential healthcare investment and resource allocation. | Ting Zhang Qing Wang Zhiwei Leng Yuan Yang Jin Yang Fangyuan Chen Mengmeng Jia Xingxing Zhang Weiran Qi Yunshao Xu Siya Chen Peixi Dai Libing Ma Luzhao Feng Weizhong Yang | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,7: | 7

Micro RNA profiles and potential regulatory pattern during the early stage of spermatogenesis in mice显示文摘Spermatogenesis is a complicated and poorly understood process that relies on the precise regulation of the self-renewal and differentiation of spermatogonia. In many organisms, micro RNAs(mi RNAs) are involved in multiple developmental processes as critical regulators of transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene silencing. This study investigated the expression pattern of mi RNAs in type B spermatogonia cells(BSc) and primary spermatocytes(PSc) of mice, using a high-throughput small RNA sequencing system. The results revealed that the expression levels of Let-7 family mi RNAs were remarkably high in both cell types. Furthermore, the expression levels of mi R-21, mi R-140-3p, mi R-103, mi R-30 a, mi R-101 b and mi R-99 b were decreased during the transformation from BSc to PSc. These mi RNAs target vital genes that participate in apoptosis, cell proliferation and differentiation, junction assembly and cell cycle regulation. These results highlight the indispensable role of mi RNAs in spermatogenesis. | LUO MengMeng HAO LiLi HU Fen DONG YaNan GOU LiXia ZHANG WenDian WANG Xin ZHAO YuHui JIA MengChun HU SongNian ZHANG XiuJun | 2015 | Science China(Life Sciences)2015,58,5: | 6
The application of perovskite materials in solar water splitting显示文摘Solar water splitting is a promising strategy for sustainable production of renewable hydrogen, and solving the crisis of energy and environment in the world.However,large-scale application of this method is hampered by the efficiency and the expense of the solar water splitting systems.Searching for non-toxic,low-cost,efficient and stable photocatalysts is an important way for solar water splitting.Due to the simplicity of structure and the flexibility of composition, perovskite based photocatalysts have recently attracted widespread attention for application in solar water splitting. In this review, the recent developments of perovskite based photocatalysts for water splitting are summarized. An introduction including the structures and properties of perovskite materials, and the fundamentals of solar water splitting is first provided. Then,it specifically focuses on the strategies for designing and modulating perovskite materials to improve their photocatalytic performance for solar water splitting. The current challenges and perspectives of perovskite materials in solar water splitting are also reviewed. The aim of this review is to summarize recent findings and developments of perovskite based photocatalysts and provide some useful guidance for the future research on the design and development of highly efficient perovskite based photocatalysts and the relevant systems for water splitting. | Yanbin Huang Jun Liu Yanchun Deng Yuanyuan Qian Xiaohao Jia Mengmeng Ma Cheng Yang Kong Liu Zhijie Wang Shengchun Qu Zhanguo Wang | 2020 | Journal of Semiconductors2020,41,1: | 6
Germline mutations in hereditary diffuse gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Among which, about 1%–3% of gastric cancer patients were characterized by inherited gastric cancer predisposition syndromes, knowing as hereditary diffuse gastric cancer(HDGC). Studies reported that CDH1 germline mutations are the main cause of HDGC. With the help of rapid development of genetic testing technologies and data analysis tools, more and more researchers focus on seeking candidate susceptibility genes for hereditary cancer syndromes. In addition, National Comprehensive Cancer Network(NCCN) guidelines recommend that the patients of HDGC carrying CDH1 mutations should undergo prophylactic gastrectomy or routine endoscopic surveillances. Therefore, genetic counseling plays a key role in helping individuals with pathogenic mutations make appropriate risk management plans. Moreover, experienced and professional genetic counselors as well as a systematic multidisciplinary team(MDT) are also required to facilitate the development of genetic counseling and benefit pathogenic mutation carriers who are in need of regular and standardized risk management solutions. In this review, we provided an overview about the germline mutations of several genes identified in HDGC, suggesting that these genes may potentially act as susceptibility genes for this malignant cancer syndrome. Furthermore, we introduced information for prevention, diagnosis and risk management of HDGC. Investigations on key factors that may have effect on risk management decision-making and genetic data collection of more cancer syndrome family pedigrees are required for the development of HDGC therapeutic strategies. | Hao Zhang Mengmeng Feng Yi Feng Zhaode Bu Ziyu Li Shuqin Jia Jiafu Ji | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,1: | 4
Nonlinear relationship between enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium dose and mycophenolic acid exposure in Han kidney transplantation recipients显示文摘The aim of the research was to investigate the pharmacokinetics(PK) of enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium(EC-MPS) by quantification of the active metabolite of mycophenolic acid(MPA)after multiple escalating oral doses in Han kidney transplant recipients. A total of 28 Han postoperative kidney transplant recipients were given a multiple-dose of 540, 720 or 900 mg of EC-MPS two times a day in combination with tacrolimus for 6 days. Blood specimens were collected at each time point from0 to 12 h after EC-MPS administration. MPA plasma concentrations were measured by UPLC–UV. The relationship between the EC-MPS dose and its PK parameters was assessed. In the range from 540 to900 mg, C_(max) and AUC_(0–12h) did not increase with dose escalation. The AUC_(0–12h), C_(max), C_0 and T_(max) for the 540 720 and 900 mg doses were not significantly different, respectively(P 40.05). AUC_0–12 h and C_(max) were increased less than proportionally with increasing EC-MPS dose levels. Inter-individual variability in AUC_(0–12h), C_(max) and C_0 were considerable. Nonlinear PK relationships were found from the doses of 540–900 mg of EC-MPS. | Jun Zhang Mengmeng Jia Lihua Zuo Na Li Yonggang Luo Zhi Sun Xiaojian Zhang Zhenfeng Zhu | 2017 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2017,7,3: | 3
Structure-activity relationship optimization for lassa virus fusion inhibitors targeting the transmembrane domain of GP2显示文摘Dear Editor,Lassa virus(LASV)belongs to the Mammarenavirus genus,Arenaviridae family.Arenaviruses are classified into two main groups-Old World(OW)and New World(NW)-based on virus genetics, serology, antigenic properties and geographical relationships. The OW LASV and Lujo virus(LUJV),as well as NW Jurn'n virus(JUNV),Machupo virus(MACV),Guanarito virus(GTOV),Sabia virus(SABV)and Chapare virus(CHAPV),are known to cause severe hemorrhagic fever and are listed as biosafety level 4(BSL-4)agents.The arenavirus glycoprotein complex(GPC)contains three subunits-the retained stable-signal peptide(SSP),the receptor-binding subunit GP1,and the membrane fusion subunit GP2(Lenz et al.,2001).Notably,the proximate external membrane region and TM of GP2,together with the ectodomain loop and TMs of SSP,form an SSP-GP2 interface, playing essential roles in regulating membrane fusion, and providing targets for distinct fusion inhibitors(Larson et al.,2008;Lee et al.,2008;York et al.,2008;York and Nunberg,2009;Thomas et al.,2011;Burgeson et al.,2013a;Shankar et al.,2016;Wang et al.,2016;Wang et al.,2018).Among these inhibitors,ST-161 is LASV specific(Burgeson et al.,2013a).In this study,we conducted structure-activity relationship(SAR)optimization of ST-161.As a result,21 derivatives with IC50 values<1 pmol/L are presented in Table S1.Hit compounds 21,29 and 57 exhibiting robust inhibition of the LASV pseudotype virus(LASVpv,VSV backbone enveloped by LASV GPC with single cycle infection)entry with IC50 values lower than 0.2 nmol/L(Figs.1A and S1),as well as hit compound 72 with an ester bond instead of acylhydrazone, were further investigated. To test whether the four hit compounds inhibit LASV entry by blocking the GPC-mediated membrane fusion, the inhibition effects of these compounds against LASV GPC mediated fusion were quantitatively determined by dual-luciferase assay(Thomas et al.,2011;Wang et al.,2018). | Guangshun Zhang Junyuan Cao Yan Cai Yang Liu Yanli Li Peilin Wang Xiaoying Jia Mengmeng Zhang Gengfu Xiao Yu Guo Wei Wang | 2019 | Protein & Cell2019,10,2: | 3
Single-molecule optoelectronic devices:physical mechanism and beyond显示文摘Single-molecule devices not only promise to provide an alternative strategy to break through the miniaturization and functionalization bottlenecks faced by traditional semiconductor devices, but also provide a reliable platform for exploration of the intrinsic properties of matters at the single-molecule level.Because the regulation of the electrical properties of single-molecule devices will be a key factor in enabling further advances in the development of molecular electronics,it is necessary to clarify the interactions between the charge transport occurring in the device and the external fields, particularly the optical field. This review mainly introduces the optoelectronic effects that are involved in single-molecule devices, including photoisomerization switching,photoconductance,plasmon-induced excitation, photovoltaic effect, and electroluminescence. We also summarize the optoelectronic mechanisms of single-molecule devices, with particular emphasis on the photoisomerization, photoexcitation, and photo-assisted tunneling processes. Finally,we focus the discussion on the opportunities and challenges arising in the single-molecule optoelectronics field and propose further possible breakthroughs. | Peihui Li Yijian Chen Boyu Wang Mengmeng Li Dong Xiang Chuancheng Jia Xuefeng Guo | 2022 | Opto-Electronic Advances2022,5,5: | 2
Dual effect of WISP-1 in diverse pathological processes显示文摘Wnt-1 inducible signaling pathway-1(WISP-1), also known as CCN-4, belongs to the connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) family. WISP-1 is primarily expressed in embryonic stem cells and is involved in adult organ development. WISP-1 participates in many cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and adhesion. In addition, WISP-1 plays an important role in diverse pathophysiological processes, such as embryonic development, inflammation, injury repairs and cancers. Recent studies showed that WISP-1 was highly correlated with tumor progression and malignant transformation, whereas it played an oncogenic role in colorectal cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer. However, interestingly, WISP-1 exerts a tumorsuppressing role in lung and prostate cancers. WISP-1 promotes cell proliferation, adhesion, motility, invasion, metastasis and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition via particular signaling pathways. In this review, we discussed the structure, expression profile, functions, clinical significance and potential mechanisms of WISP-1 in cancer and non-neoplastic diseases. | Mengmeng Feng Shuqin Jia | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,6: | 2
Biomarkers of aging显示文摘Aging biomarkers are a combination of biological parameters to(i)assess age-related changes,(ii)track the physiological aging process, and(iii)predict the transition into a pathological status.Although a broad spectrum of aging biomarkers has been developed, their potential uses and limitations remain poorly characterized. An immediate goal of biomarkers is to help us answer the following three fundamental questions in aging research:How old are we?Why do we get old?And how can we age slower? This review aims to address this need. Here,we summarize our current knowledge of biomarkers developed for cellular, organ, and organismal levels of aging, comprising six pillars:physiological characteristics, medical imaging, histological features, cellular alterations, molecular changes, and secretory factors. To fulfill all these requisites,we propose that aging biomarkers should qualify for being specific, systemic, and clinically relevant. | Aging Biomarker Consortium Hainan Bao Jiani Cao Mengting Chen Min Chen Wei Chen Xiao Chen Yanhao Chen Yu Chen Yutian Chen Zhiyang Chen Jagadish K Chhetri Yingjie Ding Junlin Feng Jun Guo Mengmeng Guo Chuting He Yujuan Jia Haiping Jiang Ying Jing Dingfeng Li Jiaming Li Jingyi Li Qinhao Liang Rui Liang Feng Liu Xiaoqian Liu Zuojun Liu Oscar Junhong Luo Jianwei Lv Jingyi Ma Kehang Mao Jiawei Nie Xinhua Qiao Xinpei Sun Xiaoqiang Tang Jianfang Wang Qiaoran Wang Siyuan Wang Xuan Wang Yaning Wang Yuhan Wang Rimo Wu Kai Xia Fu-Hui Xiao Lingyan Xu Yingying Xu Haoteng Yan Liang Yang Ruici Yang Yuanxin Yang Yilin Ying Le Zhang Weiwei Zhang Wenwan Zhang Xing Zhang Zhuo Zhang Min Zhou Rui Zhou Qingchen Zhu Zhengmao Zhu Feng Cao Zhongwei Cao Piu Chan Chang Chen Guobing Chen Hou-Zao Chen Jun Chen Weimin Ci Bi-Sen Ding Qiurong Ding Feng Gao Jing-Dong JHan Kai Huang Zhenyu Ju Qing-Peng Kong Ji Li Jian Li Xin Li Baohua Liu Feng Liu Lin Liu Qiang Liu Qiang Liu Xingguo Liu Yong Liu Xianghang Luo Shuai Ma Xinran Ma Zhiyong Mao Jing Nie Yaojin Peng Jing Qu Jie Ren Ruibao Ren Moshi Song Zhou Songyang Yi Eve Sun Yu Sun Mei Tian Shusen Wang Si Wang Xia Wang Xiaoning Wang Yan-Jiang Wang Yunfang Wang Catherine CL Wong Andy Peng Xiang Yichuan Xiao Zhengwei Xie Daichao Xu Jing Ye Rui Yue Cuntai Zhang Hongbo Zhang Liang Zhang Weiqi Zhang Yong Zhang Yun-Wu Zhang Zhuohua Zhang Tongbiao Zhao Yuzheng Zhao Dahai Zhu Weiguo Zou Gang Pei Guang-Hui Liu | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,5: | 2
Adverse Effect of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease on the Therapeutic Response in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B显示文摘Background and Aims:The impact of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)on the treatment outcome of chronic hepatitis B(CHB)is undefined and deserves an in-depth investigation.Methods:Histologically-proven CHB receiving first-line antiviral regimens as initial therapy was enrolled and grouped by the concurrence of NAFLD,and followed up at six monthly intervals.Therapeutic response related data were recorded and compared at multiple time points.Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were utilized to estimate the impact of NAFLD on complete virological response(CVR).Results:We enrolled 267 patients(CHB:164;CHB with NAFLD:103)with comparable follow-up durations. They were also comparable in baseline HBV DNA levels and HBeAg positivity.Patients with concomitant NAFLD showed less significant decline in HBV DNA,qHBsAg,pgRNA,and liver enzyme levels over time;moreover, their cumulative incidences of CVR were significantly lower and that of low-level viremia(LLV)were significantly higher at 6,12,18,24 months.First CVR of CHB was delayed with the presence NAFLD(11.0 vs.7.0 months,p<0.001)and further prolonged with higher grade of liver steatosis(Grade 2–3 vs.1:13.0 vs.9.0 months). On multivariate analysis,HBeAg positivity(HR:0.650,p=0.036),grade of steatosis(G2[HR:0.447,p=0.004];G3[HR:0.085,p=0.002])and HBV DNA(log10 IU/mL)(HR:0.687,p<0.001)were significantly associated with delayed CVR,whereas grade of necroinflammation(HR:1.758,p<0.001)accelerated the CVR.Conclusions:In CHB patients receiving initial antiviral therapy,NAFLD was associated with higher levels of HBV DNA,pgRNA,and liver enzymes, and higher incidence of LLV and delayed CVR. | Siyu Zhang Xiaoxiao Zhang Huiming Jin Yao Dou Lu Li Xiwei Yuan Chen Dong Mengmeng Hou Yue-min Nan Jia Shang | 2023 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1: | 1

New Method for Studying Rock-Breaking Mechanism by Disc Cutters显示文摘Gaining a thorough understanding of the theoretical principles of rock breaking with a disc cutter is a critical issue in tunnel boring machine(TBM) technology. To fully consider the complexity and importance of the basic principles of rock breaking during tunnel excavation,in this paper we use a new method, the smooth particle hydrodynamics(SPH), to study the rock-breaking mechanism and verify its accuracy and feasibility. Using the SPH method, we induce the rock fragmentation process with two cutters in synchronous and sequential orders. The results show that when the cutters act on rock sequentially, the second indentation influences the crack evolution of the first indentation. With increased cutter spacing, the second crack gradually becomes independent of the first crack.Under synchronous action of the two cutters, a bursiform nucleus is generated beneath the cutters and the area of the nucleus increases with increased cutter spacing. Whether the cutters act on the rock sequentially or synchronously,we found the optimum cutter spacing of our chosen rock type to be 60 mm. Our analyses results show that the efficiency of sequential rock cutting is superior to synchronous cutting, both with respect to crack evolution and cutter force. | Jianqin Liu Huaicheng Bin Wei Guo Mengmeng Liu Xuanbin Jia | 2017 | Transactions of Tianjin University2017,23,2: | 1

Accelerated Evolution of H7N9 Subtype Influenza Virus under Vaccination Pressure显示文摘No avian H7 N9 outbreaks have occurred since the introduction of H7 N9 inactivated vaccine in the fall of 2017.However,H7 N9 is still prevalent in poultry. To surveil the prevalence, genetic characteristics, and antigenic changes of H7 N9,over7000 oropharyngeal and cloaca swab specimens were collected from live poultry markets and farms in 15 provinces of China from 2017 to 2019.A total of 85 influenza virus subtype H7 N9 strains were isolated and 20 representative strains were selected for genetic analysis and antigenicity evaluation. Results indicated the decreased prevalence of low-pathogenic H7 N9 strains while highly-pathogenic H7 N9 strains became dominated since the introduction of vaccine.Phylogenetic analysis showed that strains from 2019 formed an independent small branch and were genetically distant to strains isolated in 2013–2018.Analysis of key amino acid sites showed that the virus strains may adapt to the host environment evolutionally through mutation. Our analysis predicted additional potential glycosylation sites for HA and NA genes in the 2019 strains.Sequence analysis of HA gene in strains isolated from 2018 to 2019 showed that there were an increased nucleotide substitution rate and an increased mutation rate in the first and second nucleotides of coding codons within the open reading frame. The hemagglutination inhibition(HI)assay showed that H7-Re1 and H7-Re2 exhibited a lower HI titer for isolates from 2019,while H7-Re3 and r LN79 showed a high HI titer. The protective effect of the vaccine decreased after15 months of use.Overall, under vaccination pressure, the evolution of influenza virus subtype H7 N9 has accelerated. | Yifan Wu Jingkai Hu Xuanjiang Jin Xiao Li Jinfeng Wang Mengmeng Zhang Jianglin Chen Shumin Xie Wenbao Qi Ming Liao Weixin Jia | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,5: | 0
