| 1 | Effects of 60 Hz electromagnetic field exposure on testiculargerm cell apoptosis in mice显示文摘Aim:To evaluate the effects of 60 Hz extremely low frequency (ELF) elelctromagnetic field (EMF) exposure on germ cell apoptosis in the testis of mice.Methods:Adult male BALB/c mice (7 weeks of age) were exposed to a 60 Hz EMF of 0.1 mT or 0.5 mT for 24 h/day.A sham-exposed group served as the control.After 8 weeks of exposure,the mice were sacrificed.Germ cell apoptosis in the testis was assessed by histopathological examination,the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling assay (TUNEL) and flow cytometric examination of isolated spermatogenic cells stained with 7 aminoactinomycin D (7-AAD).Results:EMF exposure did not significantly affect the body and testis weights,but significantly increased the incidence of germ cell death.The distinguishing morphological feature of EMF exposure was a decrement in the number of well organized seminiferous tubules.Quantitative analysis of TUNEL-positive germ cells showed a significantly higher apoptotic rate in the 0.5 mT exposed mice than that in the sham controls (P<0.05),while the difference between the two exposed groups was insignificant.The TUNEL-positive cells were mainly spermatogonia.In flow cytometryanalysis,the percentage of live cells [forward scatter count (FSC)^hgh7-AAD-] was lower in the exposed groups than that in the controls (Figure 5A),but the decrease in viability was not statistically significant.Conclusion:Continuousexposure to ELF EMF may induce testicular germ cell apoptosis in mice.(Asian J Androl 2004 Mar;6:29-34) | Jin Sang Lee Sang Seok Ahn Kyeong Cheon Jung Yoon-Won Kim Sang Kon Lee | 2004 | Asian Journal of Andrology2004，6，1： | 23 |
| 2 | Quantification of HBsAg:Basic virology for clinical practice显示文摘Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is produced and secreted through a complex mechanism that is still not fully understood. In clinical fields, HBsAg has long served as a qualitative diagnostic marker for hepatitis B virus infection. Notably, advances have been made in the development of quantitative HBsAg assays, which have allowed viral replication monitoring, and there is an opportunity to make maximal use of quantitative HBsAg to elucidate its role in clinical fields. Yet, it needs to be underscored that a further understanding of HBsAg, not only from clinical point of view but also from a virologic point of view, would enable us to deepen our insights, so that we could more widely expand and apply its utility. It is also important to be familiar with HBsAg variants and their clinical consequences in terms of immune escape mutants, issues resulting from overlap with corresponding mutation in the P gene, and detection problems for the HBsAg variants. | 3 | Endoscopic management of occluded metal biliary stents:Metal versus 10F plastic stents显示文摘AIM:To compare the efficacy of self-expandable metal stents(SEMSs) with 10F plastic stents(PSs) in the endoscopic management of occluded SEMSs.METHODS:We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 56 patients who underwent SEMS insertion for palliation of unresectable malignant biliary obstruction between 2000 and 2007 and subsequent endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage(ERBD) with SEMS or PS for initial SEMS occlusion between 2000 and 2008.RESULTS:Subsequent ERBD with SEMS was performed in 29 patients and with PS in 27.The median time to stent occlusion after subsequent ERBD was 186 d in the SEMS group and 101 d in the PS group(P= 0.118).Overall median stent patency was 79 d for the SEMS group and 66 d for the PS group(P = 0.379).The mean number of additional biliary drainage procedures after subsequent ERBD in patients that died(n = 50) during the study period was 2.54 ± 4.12 for the SEMS group and 1.85 ± 1.95 for the PS group(P = 0.457).The mean total cost of additional biliary drainage procedures after the occlusion of subsequent SEMS or PS was $410.04 ± 692.60 for the SEMS group and $630.16 ± 671.63 for the PS group(P = 0.260).Tumor ingrowth as the cause of initial SEMS occlusion was the only factor associated with a shorter time to subsequent stent occlusion(101 d for patients with tumor ingrowth vs 268 d for patients without tumor ingrowth,P = 0.008).CONCLUSION:Subsequent ERBD with PSs offered similar patency and number of additional biliary drainage procedures compared to SEMSs in the management of occluded SEMS. | Won Jae Yoon Ji Kon Ryu Jung Won Lee Dong-Won Ahn Yong-Tae Kim Yong Bum Yoon Sang Myung Woo Woo Jin Lee | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，42： | 7 |
| 4 | Alopecia treatment using minimally manipulated human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells:Three case reports and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Alopecia areata(AA)is a common autoimmune disease characterized by hair loss.AA appears in extensive forms,such as progressive and diffusing hair loss(diffuse AA),a total loss of scalp hair(alopecia totalis),and complete loss of hair over the entire body(alopecia universalis).Recently,mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have been identified as a therapeutic alternative for autoimmune diseases.For this reason,preclinical and case studies of AA and related diseases using MSCs have been conducted.CASE SUMMARY Case 1:A 55-year-old woman suffered from AA in two areas of the scalp.She was given 15 rounds of minimally manipulated umbilical cord-MSCs(MM-UC-MSCs)over 6 mo.The AA gradually improved 3 mo after the first round.The patient was cured,and AA did not recur.Case 2:A 30-year-old woman,with history of local steroid hormone injections,suffered from AA in one area on the scalp.She was given two rounds of MM-UC-MSCs over 1 mo.The AA immediately improved after the first round.The patient was cured,and AA did not recur.Case 3:A 20-year-old woman,who was diagnosed with alopecia universalis at the age of 12,was given 14 rounds of MM-UC-MSCs over 12 mo.Her hair began to grow about 3 mo after the first round.The patient was cured,and alopecia universalis did not recur.CONCLUSION MM-UC-MSC transplantation potentially treats patients who suffer from AA and related diseases. | Hyunjun Ahn Sang Yeon Lee Won Ju Jung Kye-Ho Lee | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021，9，15： | 4 |

| 6 | Analysis on sports and recreation activity-related eye injuries presenting to the Emergency Department显示文摘AIM:To investigate the incidence and general characteristics of sports-related eye injuries in patients visiting the Emergency Department. METHODS: A cross-sectional,multi-center,observational study.Patients with an injured eye who visited the Emergency Department at one of nine hospitals in Korea were enrolled.All data were prospectively collected between March and September 2010 using a questionnaire.Eye injuries that occurred during risky sports were examined by gender and age.Additionally,the rate of open globe injuries that occurred with and without protective eyewear was examined for each activity.Continuous variables were compared using Student's t-test and categorical variables were compared using Chi-square test.RESULTS: A total of 446 patients had sports-related eye injuries.Teenagers(10-19 years old) and young adults(20-29 years old) had the most eye injuries.Eye injuries accounted for 0.2% of Emergency Department patients.Baseball was the most common cause of sports-related eye injuries,followed by soccer and hiking.Protective gear was worn by 9.4% of all patients.Patients that were 30-39 years of age had the highest rate of protective gear use,followed by patients that were 40-49 years of age.The proportion of sports-related eye injuries that were open-globe injuries was highest for soccer and hiking.CONCLUSION: Although injuries were most common in patients below the age of 10 years,these patients had the lowest rate of protective eyewear use.Injuries in adults over 40 years of age most commonly occurred during hiking,but the rate of protective eyewear use was low.Young athletes should be educated on and provided with protective eyewear and policies protective gear use should be established.For older adults,eye protection should be encouraged,especially during hiking. | Sungbae Moon Hyun Wook Ryoo Jae Yun Ahn Jung Bae Park Kang Suk Seo Sang Do Shin Kyoung Jun Song Kang Hyun Lee In Sool Yoo Jin Seong Cho Hyun Ho Ryu Tae Oh Jeong Seok Ran Yeom Young Taek Kim Sung Ok Hong | 2016 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016，9，10： | 3 |
| 7 | Adrenal lymphangioma masquerading as a pancreatic tail cyst显示文摘Cystic lymphangiomas of the adrenal gland are rare. A 79-year-old female presented in the emergency room with epigastric discomfort, and an immovable mass was palpated in her abdomen upon physical examination. Imaging studies revealed a large cystic lesion in the pancreatic tail. The radiologic impression ruled out the possibility of a mucinous cystic neoplasm, or a pseudocyst in the pancreas. The operative findings demonstrated that the cystic mass originated in the left adrenal gland. A laparoscopic excision of the cystic mass was performed, and immunohistochemistry confirmed that this mass was a lymphangioma of the adrenal gland. Several prior reports have suggested that lymphangioma can mimic renal or splenic cysts.
