| 3 | Effects of freeze-thaw on soil erosion processes and sediment selectivity under simulated rainfall显示文摘The freeze-thaw(FT) processes affect an area of 46.3% in China. It is essential for soil and water conservation and ecological construction to elucidate the mechanisms of the FT processes and its associated soil erosion processes. In this research, we designed the control simulation experiments to promote the understanding of FT-water combined erosion processes. The results showed that the runoff of freeze-thaw slope(FTS) decreased by 8% compared to the control slope(CS), and the total sediment yield of the FTS was 1.10 times that of the CS. The sediment yield rate from the FTS was significantly greater than that from the CS after 9 min of runoff(P<0.01). Both in FTS and CS treatments, the relationships between cumulative runoff and sediment yield can be fitted well with power functions(R2>0.98, P<0.01). Significant differences in the mean weight diameter(MWD) values of particles were observed for washed particles and splashed particles between the CS and the FTS treatments in the erosion process(P<0.05). The mean MWD values under CS were smaller than those under FTS for both washed and splashed particles. The ratio of the absolute value of a regression coefficient between the CS and the FTS was 1.15, being roughly correspondent with the ratio of K between the two treatments. Therefore, the parameter a of the power function between cumulative runoff and sediment yield could be an acceptable indicator for expressing the soil erodibility. | 4 | Mathematical Model and Experiment Validation of Fluid Torque by Shear Stress under Influence of Fluid Temperature in Hydro-viscous Clutch显示文摘The current design of hydro-viscous clutch(HVC)in tracked vehicle fan transmission mainly focuses on high-speed and high power.However,the fluid torque under the influence of fluid temperature can not be predicted accurately by conventional mathematical model or experimental research.In order to validate the fluid torque of HVC by taking the viscosity-temperature characteristic of fluid into account,the test rig is designed.The outlet oil temperature is measured and fitted with different rotation speed,oil film thickness,oil flow rate,and inlet oil temperature.Meanwhile,the film torque can be obtained.Based on Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation,the mathematical model of fluid torque is proposed in cylindrical coordinate.Iterative method is employed to solve the equations.The radial and tangential speed distribution,radial pressure distribution and theoretical flow rate are determined and analyzed.The models of equivalent radius and fluid torque of friction pairs are introduced.The experimental and theoretical results indicate that tangential speed distribution is mainly determined by the relative rotating speed between the friction plate and the separator disc.However,the radial speed distribution and pressure distribution are dominated by pressure difference at the lower rotating speed.The oil film fills the clearance and the film torque increases with increasing rotating speed.However,when the speed reaches a certain value,the centrifugal force will play an important role on the fluid distribution.The pressure is negative at the outer radius when inlet flow rate is less than theoretical flow,so the film starts to shrink which decreases the film torque sharply.The theoretical fluid torque has good agreement with the experimental data.This research proposes a new fluid torque mathematical model which may predict the film torque under the influence of temperature more accurately. | CUI Hongwei YAO Shouwen YAN Qingdong FENG Shanshan LIU Qian | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,1: | 6 |
| 5 | Ultrasound-triggered noninvasive regulation of blood glucose levels using microgels integrated with insulin nanocapsules显示文摘Diabetes is a serious public health problem affecting 422 million people worldwide. Traditional diabetes management often requires multiple daily insulin injections, associated with pain and inadequate glycemia control. Herein, we have developed an ultrasound-triggered insulin delivery system capable of pulsatile insulin release that can provide both long-term sustained and fast on-demand responses. In this system, insulin-loaded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanocapsules are encapsulated within chitosan microgels. The encapsulated insulin in nanocapsules can passively diffuse from the nanoparticle but remain restricted within the microgel. Upon ultrasound treatment, the stored insulin in microgels can be rapidly released to regulate blood glucose levels. | 8 | Modeling of Cross-Spring Pivots Subjected to Generalized Planar Loads显示文摘Cross-spring pivots, formed by crossing two identical flexural beams at their midpoint, have been broadly used in precision engineering and aerospace fields. Many researches have been conducted on modeling and analysis of cross-spring pivots. However the influence of application position and magnitude of the external loads on the load-rotation and parasitic motion characteristics has not yet been discussed. In order to reveal the effect of the external loads, this paper develops the accurate load-rotation and center shift models of cross-spring pivots, with generalized planar loads applied including bending moment, horizontal and vertical forces. Firstly, by using the energy method, the load-displacement models of the pivot are derived with the assumption of small rotational angles. Based on the models, the influence of generalized planar loads on the load-rotation relationship is discussed, which shows that both application position and magnitude of the vertical and horizontal forces influence the load-rotation behaviors. Then the accurate center shift expressions of the pivot with generalized planar loads are developed, which shows that the rotational angle is the dominant term for both components of the center shift while the vertical and horizontal forces are small. Finally, the accuracy of the proposed model is validated by finite element analysis(FEA). Comparing the model data with the results obtained from FEA, the relative error of the load-rotation is less than 6% even if the rotational angle reaches 20°; the relative errors of the two components of center shift are less than 5% and 10% respectively when the rotational angle reaches 10°. | 9 | The genome of Magnolia biondii Pamp. provides insights into the evolution of Magnoliales and biosynthesis of terpenoids显示文摘Magnolia biondii Pamp.(Magnoliaceae,magnoliids)is a phylogenetically,economically,and medicinally important ornamental tree species widely grown and cultivated in the north-temperate regions of China.Determining the genome sequence of M.biondii would help resolve the phylogenetic uncertainty of magnoliids and improve the understanding of individual trait evolution within the Magnolia genus.We assembled a chromosome-level reference genome of M.biondii using~67,~175,and~154Gb of raw DNA sequences generated via Pacific Biosciences single-molecule real-time sequencing,10X Genomics Chromium,and Hi-C scaffolding strategies,respectively.The final genome assembly was~2.22Gb,with a contig N50 value of 269.11 kb and a BUSCO complete gene percentage of 91.90%.Approximately 89.17%of the genome was organized into 19 chromosomes,resulting in a scaffold N50 of 92.86Mb.The genome contained 47,547 protein-coding genes,accounting for 23.47%of the genome length,whereas 66.48%of the genome length consisted of repetitive elements.We confirmed a WGD event that occurred very close to the time of the split between the Magnoliales and Laurales.Functional enrichment of the Magnolia-specific and expanded gene families highlighted genes involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites,plant–pathogen interactions,and responses to stimuli,which may improve the ecological fitness and biological adaptability of the lineage.Phylogenomic analyses revealed a sister relationship of magnoliids and Chloranthaceae,which are sister to a clade comprising monocots and eudicots.The genome sequence of M.biondii could lead to trait improvement,germplasm conservation,and evolutionary studies on the rapid radiation of early angiosperms. | Shanshan Dong Min Liu Yang Liu Fei Chen Ting Yang Lu Chen Xingtan Zhang Xing Guo Dongming Fang Linzhou Li Tian Deng Zhangxiu Yao Xiaoan Lang Yiqing Gong Ernest Wu Yaling Wang Yamei Shen Xun Gong Huan Liu Shouzhou Zhang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4 |
| 10 | High nitrogen stainless steel drug-eluting stent-Assessment of pharmacokinetics and preclinical safety in vivo显示文摘Pharmacokinetic analyses were performed using 20 pigs for 120-days implantation,while one sirolimus-eluting stent was implanted into one of their coronary artery.At different time points,the residual sirolimus on the stent,delivered locally(to artery wall),regionally(to adjacent and downstream muscle)and systemically(to plasma and visceral organs),was detected throughout 120 days.Preclinical safety evaluation was performed using 32 pigs for 180-days implantation to study the safety of metal platform material and the effectiveness of sirolimus eluting coating on the HNS stent.The neointima area,restenosis rate and inflammatory grade for HNS and control group stents were detected and analyzed.Approximately 80%sirolimus was eluted from the sirolimuseluting stents after 30-days implantation in vivo.Additionally,there was sustained sirolimus in the artery wall,cardiac muscle and heart throughout 120-days implantation,and sirolimus accumulated to the peak at 90-days implantation.It was inferred that the sirolimus eluting stent in this study was covered by neointima before 90-days implantation,indicating that the sirolimus eluting coating on the HNS stent was safe and effective.Very little sirolimus was distributed in visceral organs after 14-days implantation.HNS sirolimus-eluting stent exhibited lower restenosis rate and lower inflammatory grade than control group,which verified that the sirolimus-eluting coating design in this study was reasonable and practical.In addition,there were no significant difference in restenosis rate and inflammatory score between HNS bare-metal stent and drug-eluting stents,illustrating that HNS has good bio-compatibility and is suitable to use as coronary artery stent material. | Shanshan Chen Zhifeng Yao Yongbiao Guan Hui Yang M.Babar Shahzad Yizhe Wu Bingchun Zhang Li Shen Ke Yang | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 3 |

| 13 | Clinical Prediction Models for Hepatitis B Virus-related Acute-on-chronic Liver Failure:A Technical Report显示文摘Background and Aims:It is critical but challenging to predict the prognosis of hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure(HBV-ACLF).This study systematically summarized and evaluated the quality and performance of available clinical prediction models(CPMs).Methods:A keyword search of articles on HBV-ACLF CPMs published in PubMed from January 1995 to April 2020 was performed.Both the quality and performance of the CPMs were assessed.Results:Fifty-two CPMs were identified,of which 31 were HBV-ACLF specific.The modeling data were mostly derived from retrospective(83.87%)and single-center(96.77%)cohorts,with sample sizes ranging from 46 to 1,202.Three-month mortality was the most common endpoint.The Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver consensus(51.92%)and Chinese Medical Association liver failure guidelines(40.38%)were commonly used for HBV-ACLF diagnosis.Serum bilirubin(67.74%),the international normalized ratio(54.84%),and hepatic encephalopathy(51.61%)were the most frequent variables used in models.Model discrimination was commonly evaluated(88.46%),but model calibration was seldom performed.The model for end-stage liver disease score was the most widely used(84.62%);however,varying performance was reported among the studies.Conclusions:Substantial limitations lie in the quality of HBV-ACLF-specific CPMs.Disease severity of study populations may impact model performance.The clinical utility of CPMs in predicting short-term prognosis of HBV-ACLF remains to be undefined. | Xia Yu Yi Lu Shanshan Sun Huilan Tu Xianbin Xu Kai Gong Junjie Yao Yu Shi Jifang Sheng | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,6: | 3 |
| 14 | Graphene/RuO2 nanocrystal composites as sulfur host for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘An optimized graphene/RuO2/S composite is prepared by hydrothermal growth of RuO2 particles on graphene oxide sheets as the positive electrode for rechargeable lithium-sulfur batteries. The electrode with 6.1 wt% RuO2 nanocrystals and a high sulfur content of 79.0 wt% delivers an optimal electrochemical performance with high residual capacities of 508 mAh g-1 after 200 cycles and 389 m Ah g-1 after800 cycles at 1 C with a low capacity decay of 0.054%. The RuO2 nanocrystals promote the redox reaction kinetics and facilitate the transformation of sulfur chemistry, leading to large improvements in reversibility and rate capability of the composite electrode. The density functional theory calculations signify the formation of Li–O and Ru–S bonds through chemical interactions between RuO2 and Li polysulfides while the adsorption energies between graphene and polysulfide species are much higher in the presence of RuO2 than that of the neat graphene acting alone. | 16 | Nonpharmaceutical interventions contribute to the control of COVID-19 in China based on a pairwise model显示文摘Nonpharmaceutical interventions(NPIs),particularly contact tracing isolation and household quarantine,play a vital role in effectively bringing the Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)under control in China.The pairwise model,has an inherent advantage in characterizing those two NPIs than the classical well-mixed models.Therefore,in this paper,we devised a pairwise epidemic model with NPIs to analyze COVID-19 outbreak in China by using confirmed cases during February 3rde22nd,2020.By explicitly incorporating contact tracing isolation and family clusters caused by household quarantine,our model provided a good fit to the trajectory of COVID-19 infections.We calculated the reproduction number R=1.345(95%CI:1.230-1.460)for Hubei province and R=1.217(95%CI:1.207-1.227)for China(except Hubei).We also estimated the peak time of infections,the epidemic duration and the final size,which are basically consistent with real observation.We indicated by simulation that the traced high-risk contacts from incubated to susceptible decrease under NPIs,regardless of infected cases.The sensitivity analysis showed that reducing the exposure of the susceptible and increasing the clustering coefficient bolster COVID-19 control.With the enforcement of household quarantine,the reproduction number R and the epidemic prevalence declined effectively.Furthermore,we obtained the resumption time of work and production in China(except Hubei)on 10th March and in Hubei at the end of April 2020,respectively,which is broadly in line with the actual time.Our results may provide some potential lessons from China on the control of COVID-19 for other parts of the world. | Xiao-Feng Luo Shanshan Feng Junyuan Yang Xiao-Long Peng Xiaochun Cao Juping Zhang Meiping Yao Huaiping Zhu Michael Y.Li Hao Wang Zhen Jin | 2021 | Infectious Disease Modelling2021,6,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Piceatannol enhances Beclin-1 activity to suppress tumor progression and its combination therapy strategy with everolimus in gastric cancer显示文摘The effects and regulation of Beclin-1-an autophagy-related protein-have not been fully defined, however, a negative correlation has been reported between Beclin-1 expression and carcinogenesis. Meanwhile, no compound has been shown to directly inhibit its activity. Here, we evaluate piceatannol, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound, as a potential targeting agonist of Beclin-1, to assess its efficacy as an antitumor agent against gastric cancer. More specifically, we determine the effects of piceatannol treatment on cell viability using a monitoring system and colony forming assay. Piceatannol was found to efficiently inhibit the proliferation of several human gastric cancer cell lines. Autophagic flux is increased by piceatannol treatment, and correlates with inhibition of cell proliferation and colony formation. Additionally, microscale thermophoresis and surface plasmon resonance results show a direct interaction between piceatannol and Beclin-1, which reduces the phosphorylation activity of Beclin-1 at the Ser-295 site. Notably, piceatannol impairs the binding of Beclin-1 to Bcl-2 and enhances the recruitment of binding of UV radiation resistance-associated gene protein, which further triggers Beclin-1-dependent autophagy signaling. An increase in autophagic activity via treatment with the mTOR inhibitor, everolimus, effectively sensitizes piceatannol-induced antitumor effects. Xenograft models confirmed that piceatannol inhibits tumor development and elicits a potent synergistic effect with everolimus in vivo.
