2Overlooked nitrogen-cycling microorganisms in biological wastewater treatment显示文摘Nitrogen-cycling microorganisms play key roles at the intersection of microbiology and wastewater engineering.In addition to the well-studied ammonia oxidizing bacteria,nitrite oxidizing bacteria,heterotrophic denitrifiers,and anammox bacteria,there are some other N-cycling microorganisms that are less abundant but functionally important in wastewater nitrogen removal.These microbes include,but not limited to ammonia oxidizing archaea(AOA),complete ammonia oxidation(comammox)bacteria,dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonia(DNRA)bacteria,and nitrate/nitrite-dependent anaerobic methane oxidizing(NO_(x)-DAMO)microorganisms.In the past decade,the development of high-throughput molecular technologies has enabled the detection,quantification,and characterization of these minor populations.The aim of this review is therefore to synthesize the current knowledge on the distribution,ecological niche,and kinetic properties of these“overlooked”N-cycling microbes at wastewater treatment plants.Their potential applications in novel wastewater nitrogen removal processes are also discussed.A comprehensive understanding of these overlooked N-cycling microbes from microbiology,ecology,and engineering perspectives will facilitate the design and operation of more efficient and sustainable biological nitrogen removal processes.Shaoyi Xu Xiaolong Wu Huijie Lu 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,6:1

4Controlled WS_(2) crystallinity effectively dominating sodium storage performance显示文摘WS2 exhibits tremendous potentials for Na-ions storage owing to high capacity(433 mAh g^(-1)). Nevertheless, WS2 layered structure is often exfoliated with rapid capacity decay and sluggish reaction kinetics.In this work, WS2 nanosheets with different crystallinities are controlled by different synthesis methods.The high crystallinity WS2 exhibits high degree of interlayer order and strong interlayer force. It exhibits superior electrochemical properties, at the current density of 200 mA g^(-1) after 300 cycles with reversible capacity of 471 mAh g^(-1). Even at 5.0 A g^(-1), the capacities can still arrive at 240 mAh g^(-1) after 250 cycles, exhibiting stable cycling performance. Further electrochemical research finds that the high degree of interlayer order of layered WS2 structure can perform highly conducive Na+insertion/extraction with greatly improved contribution of intercalation capacity. Moreover, the strong interlayer force can effectively restrain the exfoliating of the WS2 nanosheets, guaranteeing the stability of the structure. Combining the above result reveals that controlling the order and force of the interlayer is an effective way to enhance the electrochemical properties of WS2 as SIBs anode materials. 7Oxidation Characteristics of the Reactivity Between Pyrite and Aqueous Arsenate显示文摘Natural pyrites contain high levels of adsorbed and structurally incorporated arsenic(As),which may simultaneously result in the release of As and affect the oxidation process of pyrite.However,the oxidation and electrochemical behaviors of As on the oxidation reactivity of pyrites are still not clear.In this study,pyrite was prepared by a hydrothermal method and applied to study the oxidation mechanism between pyrite and aqueous arsenate.Analyses of X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and scanning electron microscopy demonstrate that the as-prepared sample is an octahedron-like pyrite with high purity and crystallinity.The interaction between As(V)and pyrite as well as the electrochemical behaviors of pyrite oxidation in the presence of aqueous arsenate were investigated under acidic conditions by an ion analysis method,cyclic voltammetry(CV),Tafel,and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The results of the chemical reaction indicate that electrons are transferred from S 22-to dissolved oxygen with the formation of SO 42-in the initial As(V)concentration range of 0–0.3 mmol/L.In the initial As(V)concentration range of 0.4–1.2 mmol/L,electrons are transferred from S 22-to As(V)with the formation of elemental S 0 and As(III).The CV,the Tafel plot and EIS analyses indicate that aqueous arsenate in an electrolyte promotes oxidation reactivity and passivation of the pyrite electrode.Moreover,the electron transfer rate increases with increasing aqueous arsenate concentration in the electrolyte.Yongling Liu Songhai Wu Shaoyi Jia Zongsheng Liang Xu Han 2019Transactions of Tianjin University2019,25,4:1

12Catalytic Activity of Cr(Ⅵ) in the Degradation of Phenol by H2O2 Under Acidic Conditions显示文摘Cr(Ⅵ)and phenol are toxic contaminants that need to be treated,and different methods have been researched to simultaneously remove these two contaminants from industrial wastewater.In this study,Cr(Ⅵ)was used as a novel Fenton-like catalyst in phenol degradation by H2O2.In the pH range of 3.0-11.0,the degradation efficiency of phenol decreased with elevated pH.At pH=3.0,100 mg/L phenol was effectively degraded by 2 mmol/L Cr(Ⅵ)and 20 mmol/L H2O2.At pH=7.0 and the same conditions as those of pH=3.0,79%of 100 mg/L phenol was removed within 6h,which was an improvement in pH limitation compared with the Fe(Ⅱ)-mediated Fenton reaction.Quenching experiments indicated that·OH generated from the catalysis of H2O2 by Cr(Ⅴ)instead of Cr(Ⅵ)was the primary oxidant that degraded phenol.When pyrophosphate was added in the Cr(Ⅵ)/H2O2 system,complexes with the Cr(Ⅴ)intermediate rapidly formed and inhibited H2O2 decomposition,implying that the decomposition of H2O2 to·OH was catalyzed by Cr(Ⅴ)instead of Cr(Ⅵ).The presence of anions such as chloride and sulfate had insignificant effect on the degradation of phenol.TOC and UV analyses suggest that phenol could not be completely oxidized to CO2 and H2O,and the intermediates identified by high performance liquid chromatography further indicates that maleic acid and benzoquinone were intermediates which may be further degraded into short chain acids,primarily maleic,formic,acetic,and oxalic acids,and eventually into CO2 and H2O.Considering that more than 50%Cr(Ⅵ)can also be removed during this process,the Cr(Ⅵ)/H2O2 system is more appropriate for the simultaneous removal of Cr(Ⅵ)and phenol contaminants from industrial wastewater.Qingyou Zeng Shaoyi Jia Yufeng Gong Songhai Wu Xu Han 2019Transactions of Tianjin University2019,25,6:0

14Flight Time Minimization of UAV for Cooperative Data Collection in Probabilistic LoS Channel显示文摘This paper investigates the data collection in an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-aided Internet of Things(IoT) network, where a UAV is dispatched to collect data from ground sensors in a practical and accurate probabilistic line-of-sight(LoS) channel. Especially, access points(APs) are introduced to collect data from some sensors in the unlicensed band to improve data collection efficiency. We formulate a mixed-integer non-convex optimization problem to minimize the UAV flight time by jointly designing the UAV 3D trajectory and sensors’ scheduling, while ensuring the required amount of data can be collected under the limited UAV energy. To solve this nonconvex problem, we recast the objective problem into a tractable form. Then, the problem is further divided into several sub-problems to solve iteratively, and the successive convex approximation(SCA) scheme is applied to solve each non-convex subproblem. Finally,the bisection search is adopted to speed up the searching for the minimum UAV flight time. 15An Efficient Federated Learning Framework Deployed in Resource-Constrained IoV:User Selection and Learning Time Optimization Schemes显示文摘In this article,an efficient federated learning(FL)Framework in the Internet of Vehicles(IoV)is studied.In the considered model,vehicle users implement an FL algorithm by training their local FL models and sending their models to a base station(BS)that generates a global FL model through the model aggregation.Since each user owns data samples with diverse sizes and different quality,it is necessary for the BS to select the proper participating users to acquire a better global model.Meanwhile,considering the high computational overhead of existing selection methods based on the gradient,the lightweight user selection scheme based on the loss decay is proposed.Due to the limited wireless bandwidth,the BS needs to select an suitable subset of users to implement the FL algorithm.Moreover,the vehicle users’computing resource that can be used for FL training is usually limited in the IoV when other multiple tasks are required to be executed.The local model training and model parameter transmission of FL will have significant effects on the latency of FL.To address this issue,the joint communication and computing optimization problem is formulated whose objective is to minimize the FL delay in the resource-constrained system.To solve the complex nonconvex problem,an algorithm based on the concave-convex procedure(CCCP)is proposed,which can achieve superior performance in the small-scale and delay-insensitive FL system.Due to the fact that the convergence rate of CCCP method is too slow in a large-scale FL system,this method is not suitable for delay-sensitive applications.To solve this issue,a block coordinate descent algorithm based on the one-step projected gradient method is proposed to decrease the complexity of the solution at the cost of light performance degrading.Simulations are conducted and numerical results show the good performance of the proposed methods.Qiang Wang Shaoyi Xu Rongtao Xu Dongji Li 2023China Communications2023,20,12:0
