1Modeling cavitation flow of cryogenic fluids with thermodynamic phase-change theory显示文摘Cavitation is the formation of vapor bubbles within a liquid where the flow dynamics causes the local static pressure to drop below the vapor pressure. The so-called full cavitation model (FCM) developed by Singhal has been widely used in numerical modeling of the cavitation flow for thermosensible and non-thermosensible fluids. Within the FCM, the bubble size is taken to be equivalent to the maximum possible value to forego the calculation of bubble number density. We developed a new cavitation model by recalculating the bubble radius in FCM to account for the effects of local pressure. The new model was obtained by combining the thermodynamic phase-change theory and the Young-Laplace equation with the assumption of thermodynamic equilibrium during the cavitation process. The cavitation calculations were performed based on the mathematical framework of the homogeneous equilibrium flow model and the transport-equation-based model for vapor phase mass fraction. The model was validated by modeling the cavitating flow of liquid nitrogen and liquid hydrogen through NASA hydrofoil and Ogive with consideration of the phase-change thermal effects. 2Effects of surface tension on bubble growth in an extensive uniformly superheated liquid显示文摘The study of bubble growth in an extensive pool of liquid provides considerable insight into the mechanisms that play a role in bubble growth near a heated surface and in the cavitation phenomenon. This work focuses on analyzing the effects of surface tension on the growth rate for the thermally controlled stage of a single bubble in such a liquid. The conservation of energy equations, including the internal energy term for the bubble and that within boundary layer around it, are numerically solved. The complete temporal variations of the bubble in water and liquid nitrogen are investigated based on the assumption that the bubble growth is controlled only in sequence by inertia and heat. Thus, the two stages are subject to the continuity of the bubble growth, while the inertia-controlled stage is only formulated by the well-known Rayleigh solution. The thickness of the boundary layer around the bubble is also determined. The results are comparable with the Plesset-Zwick models and Forster-Zuber models, as well as available experimental data. 3Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure Precipitated by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection in a Patient with Hepatitis B Virus-Related Cirrhosis: A Case Report显示文摘We present a case of acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)in a patient with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related decompensated cirrhosis and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).A 58-year-old woman with HBV-related and decompensated cirrhosis without any anti-viral treatment previously was admitted to the hospital due to a confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection.On admission,she was in stable condition.Thoracic computed tomography(CT)and laboratory findings showed no significant abnormalities.Entecavir was initiated promptly for HBV,while antiviral therapy and supportive treatment were initiated for COVID-19.Her lung infection exacerbated after 10days of recurrent fever despite treatments,and there were signs of HBV reactivation.ACLF and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome developed rapidly from day 10 to day 19.The patient’s clinical deterioration was also consistent with pneumonia progression and elevated interleukin 6 levels.SARS-CoV-2 likely precipitated ACLF in cirrhotic patients,either by inducing HBV flare or serving as an acute insult directly.This study discussed the underlying mechanisms of this process and management details.Monitoring HBV status is necessary,and inflammatory parameters might be valuable.HBV suppression should be initiated early,and variceal hemorrhage primary prevention might be beneficial in COVID-19 patients with cirrhosis.Wanling Chen Qiran Zhang Shijun Li Ruiting Liang Haiqun Liang Yiqi Yu Chao Qiu Jiannan Lv Wenhong Zhang 2021Infectious Diseases & Immunity2021,1,3:1
4A millimeter-sized negatively charged polymer embedded with molybdenum disulfide nanosheets for efficient removal of Pb(Ⅱ)from aqueous solution显示文摘Molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))has excellent trapping ability for lead ions whereas its micro-/nanoscale size has greatly impeded its practical applications in the flow-through systems.Herein,a millimetersized nanocomposite MoS_(2)-001 was synthesized for Pb^(2+)removal by loading MoS_(2) nanosheets into a polystyrene cation exchanger D-001 by a facile hydrothermal method.The proposed structure and adsorption mechanism of MoS_(2)-001 was confirmed by the scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and X-ray photoelectron spectro scopy(XPS)analysis.The nanocomposite showed outstanding adsorption capacity and rapid adsorption kinetic for Pb^(2+)removal,and the adsorption behavior followed the Langmuir adsorption model and pseudo-firstmodel kinetic model.Pb^(2+)uptake by MoS_(2)-001 still maintains a high level even in the presence of extremely highly competitive ions(Ca(Ⅱ)and Mg(Ⅱ)),suggesting its high selectivity for Pb^(2+)adsorption.Besides,the fixed-bed column experiments further certified that MoS_(2)-001 is of great potential for Pb^(2+)removal from the wastewater in practical engineering applications.Even more gratifying is that the exhausted MoS_(2)-001 can be regenerated by NaCl-EDTANa_(2) solution without any significant adsorption capacity loss.Consequently,all the results indicated that MoS_(2)-001 is a promising candidate adsorbent for lead-containing wastewater treatment.Guangze Nie Shijun Qiu Xiang Wang Yan Du Qingrui Zhang Yang Zhang Hengle Zhang 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,7:0

6LES Analysis of the Unsteady Flow Characteristics of a Centrifugal Pump Impeller显示文摘Stall phenomena increase the complexity of the internal flow in centrifugal pump impellers.In order to tackle this problem,in the present work,a large eddy simulation(LES)approach is applied to determine the characteristics of these unstable flows.Moreover,a vorticity identification method is used to characterize quantitatively the vortex position inside the impeller and its influencing area.By comparing the outcomes of the numerical simulations and experimental results provided by a Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV)technique,it is shown that an apparent“alternating stall”phenomenon exists inside the impeller when relatively small flow rate conditions are considered.The stall is generated near the suction side of the blade inlet,grows towards the high-pressure side of the blade in the circumferential direction,and gradually attenuates.As the flow rate decreases,the number of stalls remains unchanged,while the related influencing area and strength gradually increase and the circumferential velocity increases.Ting Zhang Denghao Wu Shijun Qiu Peijian Zhou Yun Ren Jiegang Mou 2022Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,5:0
