1Northernmost paleo-tethyan oceanic basin in Tibet:Geo-chronological evidence from ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar age dating of Dur'ngoi ophiolite显示文摘Whole rock 40Ar/39Ar age dating has been conducted on a basalt sample from Dur’ngoi ophiolite, Qinghai Province, which was reported to be the northernmost pa-leo-tethyan oceanic basin in Tibet. 2Numerical Prediction and Performance Experiment in a Deep-well Centrifugal Pump with Different Impeller Outlet Width显示文摘The existing research of the deep-well centrifugal pump mainly focuses on reduce the manufacturing cost and improve the pump performance,and how to combine above two aspects together is the most difficult and important topic.In this study,the performances of the deep-well centrifugal pump with four different impeller outlet widths are studied by the numerical,theoretical and experimental methods in this paper.Two stages deep-well centrifugal pump equipped with different impellers are simulated employing the commercial CFD software to solve the Navier-Stokes equations for three-dimensional incompressible steady flow.The sensitivity analyses of the grid size and turbulence model have been performed to improve numerical accuracy.The flow field distributions are acquired and compared under the design operating conditions,including the static pressure,turbulence kinetic energy and velocity.The prototype is manufactured and tested to certify the numerical predicted performance.The numerical results of pump performance are higher than the test results,but their change trends have an acceptable agreement with each other.The performance results indicted that the oversize impeller outlet width leads to poor pump performances and increasing shaft power.Changing the performance of deep-well centrifugal pump by alter impeller outlet width is practicable and convenient,which is worth popularizing in the engineering application.The proposed research enhances the theoretical basis of pump design to improve the performance and reduce the manufacturing cost of deep-well centrifugal pump.SHI Weidong ZHOU Ling LU Weigang PEI Bing LANG Tao 2013Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2013,26,1:20
3An Integrated Analysis of Risk Factors of Cognitive Impairment in Patients with Severe Carotid Artery Stenosis显示文摘Objective To investigate cognitive dysfunction in patients with carotid artery stenosis(CAS) and potential risk factors related to cognitive-especially memory-dysfunction. Methods Forty-seven patients with carotid artery stenosis were recruited into our study cohort. The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) were adopted to assess cognitive function, the Wechsler Memory Scale(WMS) to assess memory function, high-resolution MRI and enhanced ultrasound to evaluate carotid plaques, and computed tomography perfusion(CTP) imaging to evaluate intracranial blood perfusion. Single-factor analysis and multiple-factor regression analysis were used to analyze potential risk factors of cognitive impairment. Results Mini-Mental State Examination test results showed that 22 patients had cognitive impairment, and MoCA test results showed that 10 patients had cognitive impairment. Analysis of various risk factors indicated that the average memory quotient of female patients was higher than that of males(P = 0.024). The cognitive and memory performance of those with an educational background above high school were significantly better than those of participants with high school or lower(P = 0.045). Patients with abnormal intracranial perfusion performed worse on the MMSE test(P = 0.024), and their WMS scores were significantly lower(P = 0.007). The MMSE scores and the memory quotients were significantly lower in patients with a history of cerebral infarction(MMSE, P = 0.047, memory quotient score, P = 0.018). Conclusion A history of cerebral infarction and abnormal cerebral perfusion are associated with decline in overall cognitive function and memory in patients with carotid stenosis. 5A new bone repair scaffold combined with chitosan/ hydroxyapatite and sustained releasing icariin显示文摘Icariin, a plant-derived flavonol glycoside, has been proved as an osteoinductive agent for bone tissue engineering. A new bone repair scaffold was generated by thorough mixing of icariin and chitosan/ hydroxyapatite (icariin-CS/HA) using freeze-drying technigue. Characteristics of morphology, mechanical properties, biocompatibility, drug release behavior and bone repair abilities in vivo were evaluated. The results show that drug loading process of icariin did not affect physical structure of CS/HA composite significantly but decreased mechanical properies of CS/HA composite, which happened with a high dosage; icariin-CS/HA had favorable cell compatibility and promoted osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs; the controlled release of icariin was satisfactory and the release retained after 90 d in vitro. In addition, icariin-CS/HA scaffolds had favorable osteoconduction and osteoinduction in vivo, and could fill bone defect sites and stimulate newborn bone tissues formation at early stage. 8Quantitative study of tectonic geomorphology along Haiyuan fault based on airborne LiDAR显示文摘High-precision and high-resolution topography are the fundamental data for active fault research.Light detection and ranging(LiDAR)presents a new approach to build detailed digital elevation models effectively.We take the Haiyuan fault in Gansu Province as an example of how LiDAR data may be used to improve the study of active faults and the risk assessment of related hazards.In the eastern segment of the Haiyuan fault,the Shaomayin site has been comprehensively investigated in previous research because of its exemplary tectonic topographic features.Based on unprecedented LiDAR data,the horizontal and vertical coseismic offsets at the Shaomayin site are described.The measured horizontal value is about 8.6 m,and the vertical value is about 0.8 m.Using prior dating ages sampled from the same location,we estimate the horizontal slip rate as4.0±1.0 mm/a with high confidence and define that the lower bound of the vertical slip rate is 0.4±0.1 mm/a since the Holocene.LiDAR data can repeat the measurements of field work on quantifying offsets of tectonic landform features quite well.The offset landforms are visualized on an office computer workstation easily,and specialized software may be used to obtain displacement quantitatively.By combining precious chronological results,the fundamentallink between fault activity and large earthquakes is better recognized,as well as the potential risk for future earthquake hazards.Tao Chen Pei Zhen Zhang Jing Liu Chuan You Li Zhi Kun Ren Kenneth W. 12Rainfall and Tillage Impacts on Soil Erosion of Sloping Cropland with Subtropical Monsoon Climate- A Case Study in Hilly Purple Soil area, China显示文摘Under global warming, storm events tend to intensify, particularly in monsoon-affected regions.As an important agricultural area in China, the purple soil region in the Sichuan Basin, where it has a prevailing monsoon climate, is threatened by serious soil erosion. Tillage operations alter runoff and soil erosion processes on croplands by changing the physical properties of the soil surface. To clarify the relationship between tillage and soil erosion in the purple soil region, three different tillage practices in this region were investigated at the plot scale over 4 years: bare land with minimum tillage(BL),conventional tillage(CT) and seasonal no-tillage ridges(SNTR) which was initially designed to prevent soil erosion by contoured ridges and no-tillage techniques. The results showed that although there were no significant differences in the surface runoff and soil erosion among the three practices, BL causedrelatively high surface runoff and soil erosion,followed by CT and SNTR. Classification and comparison of the rainfall events based on cluster analysis(CA) verified that the surface runoff was not significantly different between most intensive event and long intensive events but was significantly different between most intensive and short and medium-duration events. Only the rainfall events with the highest rainfall intensity could trigger serious soil erosion, up to 1000 kg ha-1 in the region. 13Clinical operational tolerance in liver transplantation:state-of-the-art perspective and future prospects显示文摘BACKGROUND:Liver transplantation is the definite treatment for end-stage liver diseases with satisfactory results.However,untoward effects of life-long immunosuppression prevent the development of alternative strategies to achieve better longterm outcome.Achieving clinical operational tolerance is the ultimate goal.DATA SOURCES:A PubMed and Google Scholar search using terms:'immune tolerance','liver transplantation','clinical trial','operational tolerance' and 'immunosuppression withdrawal' was performed,and relevant articles published in English in the past decade were reviewed.Full-text publications relevant to the field were selected and relevant articles from reference lists were also included.Priority was given to those articles which are relevant to the review.RESULTS:Because of the inherent tolerogenic property,around 20%-30% of liver transplantation recipients develop spontaneous operational tolerance after immunosuppression withdrawal,and the percentage may be even higher in pediatric living donor liver transplantation recipients.Several natural killer and γδT cell related markers have been identified to be associated with the tolerant state in liver transplantation patients.Despite the progress,clinical operational tolerance is still rare in liver transplantation.Reprogramming the recipient immune system by creating chimerism and regulatory cell therapies is among newer promising means to achieve clinical liver transplantation tolerance in the future.CONCLUSION:Although clinical operational tolerance is still rare in liver transplantation recipients,ongoing basic research and collaborative clinical trials may help to decipher the mystery of transplantation tolerance and extend the potential benefits of drug withdrawal to an increasing number of patients in a more predictable fashion.Xi-Qiang Liu Zhi-Qiu Hu Yao-Fei Pei Ran Tao 2013Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,1:9

17Risk of Active Pulmonary Tuberculosis among Patients with Coal Workers'Pneumoconiosis:A Case-control Study in China显示文摘The aim of this study was to estimate the association between occupational, environmental, behavioral risk factors, and active pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) among coal workers' pneumoconiosis(CWP) patients. A matched case-control study was conducted in 86 CWP patients with active PTB and 86 CWP controls without TB. A standardized questionnaire was used for risk factors assessment. Conditioned logistic regression analysis was used to identify associations between the risk factors and active PTB among CWP patients. 18Interleukin-17A gene variants and risk of coronary artery disease:a large angiography-based study显示文摘Background Recent studies have also revealed that interleukin(IL)-17A plays a key role in atherosclerosis and its complication,but the relationship of its common variants with coronary artery disease(CAD) has not been extensively studied.Methods We systematically screened sequence variations in the IL17A gene and designed an angiog-raphy -based case-controlled study consisting of 1031 CAD patients and 935 control subjects to investigate the association between the selected polymorphisms of IL-17A gene and CAD risk in Chinese Han population.Results Frequencies of IL17A rs8193037 GG homozygote and G allele were significantly higher in the patient group than those in the control group(P<0.001;OR=0.68;95%CI=0.54-0.85).Stratification analysis showed that the IL17A rs8193037 G allele significantly increased the risk of CAD only among male subjects (P=0.001;OR=0.63;95%CI=0.47-0.83).After adjustment for conventional risk factors,binary logistic regression analysis showed that the G allele carriers(GG +AG) had significantly increased CAD risk compared with the AA homozygotes (adjusted P<0.001;OR 0.43;95%CI,0.33- 0.58).ELISA showed augmented IL17A production in plasma of the AMI patients.Conclusions Based on our data,we speculated that the SNP rs8193037 of IL17A gene is significantly associated with CAD risk in Chinese Han population and the rs8193037 G allele which is associated with increased expression of IL17A in AMI patients may be an independent predictive factor for CAD.ZHANG Xiao-lin,PEI Fang,HAN Ya-Ling,YAN Cheng-Hui, HUANG Ming-Fang,WANG Tao (Department of Cardiology,Cardiovascular Institute of PLA, Shenyang Northern Hospital,Shenyang 110031,China) 2011岭南心血管病杂志2011,17,S1:8

20Influence of applied load on wear behavior of C/C-Cu composites under electric current显示文摘Using carbon fiber needled fabrics with Cu-mesh and graphite powder as the preform, Cu mesh modified carbon/carbon(C/C-Cu) composites were prepared by chemical vapor deposition(CVD) with C_3H_6 and impregnation-carbonization(I/C) with furan resin. C/C composites, as a comparison, were also prepared.Their microstructures and wear morphologies were observed by optical microscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM), respectively. Wear behavior of C/C and C/C-Cu composites under different applied loads were investigated on a pin-on-disc wear tester. The results show that Cu meshes are well dispersed and pyrolytic carbon is in rough laminar structure. Both C/C and C/C-Cu composites had good wear properties. The currentcarrying capacity of C/C-Cu composites increases and the arc discharge is hindered as the applied load increases from 40 N to 80 N. Both C/C and C/C-Cu composites had good wear properties. The mass wear rate of C/C-Cu composites under 80 N was only 4.2% of that under 60 N.
