| 3 | A hybrid machine learning ensemble approach based on a Radial Basis Function neural network and Rotation Forest for landslide susceptibility modeling:A case study in the Himalayan area, India显示文摘In this paper, a hybrid machine learning ensemble approach namely the Rotation Forest based Radial Basis Function(RFRBF) neural network is proposed for spatial prediction of landslides in part of the Himalayan area(India). The proposed approach is an integration of the Radial Basis Function(RBF) neural network classifier and Rotation Forest ensemble, which are state-of-the art machine learning algorithms for classification problems. For this purpose, a spatial database of the study area was established that consists of 930 landslide locations and fifteen influencing parameters(slope angle, road density, curvature, land use, distance to road, plan curvature, lineament density, distance to lineaments, rainfall,distance to river, profile curvature, elevation, slope aspect, river density, and soil type). Using the database, training and validation datasets were generated for constructing and validating the model. Performance of the model was assessed using the Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC) curve, area under the ROC curve(AUC), statistical analysis methods, and the Chi square test. In addition, Logistic Regression(LR), Multi-layer Perceptron Neural Networks(MLP Neural Nets), Na(?)ve Bayes(NB), and the hybrid model of Rotation Forest and Decision Trees(RFDT) were selected for comparison. | 13 | Phosphomonoester Phosphoethanolamine Induces Apoptosis in Human Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cells显示文摘Background:Leukemia is a type of cancer that starts in the blood or blood-forming tissues.It results from the clonal proliferation of hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow and/or lymphoid tissues,which subsequently reach the peripheral circulation and can infiltrate other systems.There are many different kinds of leukemia,and treatments are different for each one.Chronic leukemia is with a slower growing than acute leukemia but could be just as life-threatening.Phospholipids are antitumor analogs,such as synthetic phosphoethanolamine,which is a phosphorylated compound capable of controlling cellular proliferation and inducing apoptosis in several types of tumor cells.Methods:K562 and K562-Lucena(MDR+)human chronic myeloid leukemia cells were treated with synthetic phosphoethanolamine(Pho-s).The viability was evaluated by sulforhodamine B(SRB)assay and cell cycle phases,apoptosis,markers expression,and mitochondrial potential were assessed by flow cytometry.Results:Tumor cells formed clusters in suspension and decreased significantly viability.The concentrations for IC50%were obtained.Pho-s treated were 43.1 mM(K562)and 145.9 mM(K562-Lucena MDR+)in a period of 24 hours.Pho-s induced changes in the distribution of cell population phases of cell cycle which showed an increase in fragmented DNA and increased markers expression envolved apoptosis pathways a decrease in the G1/G0 phase.Discussion:Treatment of K562 and K562-Lucena(MDR+)chronic myeloid leukemia cells with Pho-s showed dose and time dependent cytotoxic effects.This cytotoxicity induced a decrease in proliferative capacity,mitochondrial electrical potential,and consequently release of cytochrome C;inhibition of Bcl-2 family protein expression,increase in pro-apoptotic family members Bad and Bax,dependent on p53 expression.Conclusion:This study presented a significant therapeutic potential of Phos-s in this type of leukemia through the apoptotic effects on tumor cells independently of the molecular resistance profile(MDR+). | Thais de Oliveira Conceicao Manuela Garcia Laveli da Silva Durvanei Augusto Maria | 2019 | Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2019,7,7: | 3 |
| 14 | Operation Strategies for Coordinating Battery Energy Storage with Wind Power Generation and Their Effects on System Reliability显示文摘The variability of wind power generation requires the allocation of a flexible energy reserve which is capable of compensating for possible imbalances between the load and generation. To reduce the variability of wind power generation and loss of load in generation deficit, we propose operation strategies for coordinating battery energy storage with wind power generation. The effects of the operation strategies on system reliability are evaluated by the developed computation model that represents the main aspects and operation limitations of the batteries. The performance evaluation of the power system is based on the composite reliability indices of loss of load probability(LOLP) and expected energy not supplied(EENS), which is calculated through sequential Monte Carlo simulation. Tests are performed by the developed model with a tutorial system consisting of five busbars and the IEEE RTS system. | 16 | Hepatocellular carcinoma with child Pugh-A Cirrhosis treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy显示文摘AIM To evaluate the control, survival, and hepatic function for Child Pugh(CP)-A patients after Stereotactic body radiotherapy(SBRT) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS From 2009 to 2016, 40 patients with Barcelona Liver Clinic(BCLC) stages 0-B HCC and CP-A cirrhosis completed liver SBRT. The mean prescription dose was 45 Gy(40 to 50 Gy in 4-5 fractions). Local relapse, defined as recurrence within the planning target volume was assessed with intravenous multiphase contrast computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging every 4-6 mo after completion of SBRT. Progression of cirrhosis was evaluated by CP and Model for End Stage Liver Disease scores every 3-4 mo. Toxicities were graded per the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events(v4.03). Median follow-up was 24 mo.RESULTS Forty-nine HCC lesions among 40 patients were analyzed in this IRB approved retrospective study. Median tumor diameter was 3.5 cm(1.5-8.9 cm). Six patients with tumors ≥ 5 cm completed planned selected transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) in combination with SBRT. Eight patients underwent orthotropic live transplant(OLT) with SBRT as a bridging treatment(median time to transplant was 12 mo, range 5 to 23 mo). The Pathologic complete response(PCR) rate in this group was 62.5%. The 2-year in-field local control was 98%(1 failure). Intrahepatic control was 82% and 62% at 1 and 2 years, respectively. Overall survival(OS) was 92% and 60% at 1 and 2 years, with a median survival of 41 mo per Kaplan Meier analysis. At 1 and 2 years, 71% and 61% of patients retained CPA status. Of the patients with intrahepatic failures, 58% developed progressive cirrhosis, compared to 27% with controlled disease(P = 0.06). Survival specific to hepatic failure was 92%, 81%, and 69% at 12, 18, and 24 mo. There was no grade 3 or higher toxicity. | 17 | Induction of Root Hair Growth in a Phosphorus-Buffered Culture Solution显示文摘A system to control the release of phosphate in water was successfully established, based on solubility product of [Ca2+]and [PO43-] using tricalcium phosphate as P source in the hydroponic solution, and adding CaCl2 for supplementing extraCa2+. The system, similar to soil solutions, was a P nutrient buffer solution with very low bioavailable P. The buffersolution induced the roots of both monocotyledon and dicotyledon species to grow abundant root hairs, 3 mm inmaximum length. The monocotyledons were corn (Zea mays L.) (var. Yellow Rose), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) (var.Yanzhong 144), Triticale secale L. (var. Jingsong 5), and ryegrass (Lolium rigidum L.) (var. Ruanni), and the dicotyledonswere Arabidopsis thaliana L. (var. Columbia), white clover (Trifolium repens) (var. Kopu), Lotus (Lotus peduncucatusCav. Luliginosus Schkuhr) (var. Grasslands Maku). For these species we proved that the root environment controls theinduction of root hair formation. However, the hydroponic buffer solution failed to induce root hairs on the roots of onion(Allium cepa L.). Other investigators have concluded that corn does not form root hairs in hydroponics, but abundantlong root hairs on corn were induced by this buffer system.
