1Experimental studies on the Danxia landscape morphogenesis in Mt. 2Gene mutations and clinical phenotypes in Chinese children with Blau syndrome显示文摘The mutations of CARD15 gene and clinical features of Chinese patients with Blau syndrome were analyzed. We identified10 missense mutations, out of which five were new: R334 L, E383 D, R471 C, C495 R and D512 F. The rest of them, R334 W,R334Q, G481 D, M513 T and R587 C, have been reported previously. Among all the mutations, R334 W, R334 Q and C495 R had the highest frequency. Blau syndrome was found at early age after birth. It began with lepidic rash and symmetric polyarthritis and was phenotypically characterized by typical rash, arthritis, iridocyclitis and arteritis. Cardiac involvement was also found in Blau syndrome. In addition to nerve deafness, renal involvement, osteochondroma and central nervous system involvement were also found in our patients. Therefore, Chinese children with Blau syndrome have unique gene mutations and complicated clinical phenotypes. 3Spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration in a Larix gmelinii forest and the response to prescribed fire in the Greater Xing0an Mountains,China显示文摘This study was conducted in a fire-prone region in the Greater Xing'an Mountains,the primary forested area of northeastern China.We measured soil respiration and the affecting soil factors,i.e.,soil microbial biomass and soil moisture,within an experimental plot of Larix gmelinii Rupr.A low-intensity,prescribed fire was applied as the treatment.Traditional descriptive statistics and geostatistics were used to analyze the spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration and the response of respiration to fire disturbance.Coefficients of variation(CVs) for pre-fire and post-fire soil respiration were 23.4 and 32.0 %,respectively.CVs for post-fire soil respiration increased significantly,with a moderate variation of all CVs.Soil respiration pre-fire was significantly correlated with soil microbial biomass carbon,biomass nitrogen,and soil moisture(W);post-fire soil respiration was not correlated with these factors.From the geostatistical analyses,the C_0+C(sill) for post-fire soil respiration increased significantly,indicating that the post-fire spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration increased significantly.The nugget effect(nc) of soil respiration and the affecting factors pre-fire and post-fire disturbance were in the range of 12.5–50 %,with strong spatial autocorrelation.Fire disturbance changed the components of spatial heterogeneity,and the proportion of functional heterogeneity increased significantly post-fire.The ranges(a) for pre-fire and post-fire soil respiration were 81.0 and 68.2 m,respectively.The homogeneity of the distribution of post-fire soil respiration decreased and the spatial heterogeneity increased,thus the range for postfire soil respiration decreased significantly.The fractal dimension(D) for soil respiration increased post-fire,the spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration affected by random components increased,indicating that the change in spatial heterogeneity of post-fire soil respiration should be considered within the scale of the forest stand.Following Kriging interpolation,the increase in the patchiness of post-fire soil respiration was illustrated using a contour map.Based on these preliminary results,the change in the spatial heterogeneity of post-fire soil respiration was likely caused by changes in the distribution of soil moisture and microbial activity within the experimental plot at the scale of the forest stand.Haiqing Hu Tongxin Hu Long Sun 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,5:11
4The effect of fire disturbance on short-term soil respiration in typical forest of Greater Xing'an Range, China显示文摘We investigated the effect of fire disturbance on short-term soil respiration in birch(Betula platyphylla Suk.) and larch(Larix gmelinii Rupr.) forests in Greater Xing'an range, northeastern China for further understanding of its effect on the carbon cycle in ecosystems. Our study show that post-fire soil respiration rates in B. platyphylla and L. gmelinii forests were reduced by 14% and 10%, respectively. In contrast, the soil heterotrophic respiration rates in the two types of forest were similar in post-fire and control plots. After fire, the contribution of root respiration to total soil respiration was dramatically reduced. Variation in soil respiration rates was explained by soil moisture(W) and soil temperature(T) at a depth of 5 cm. Exponential regression fitted T and W models explained Rs rates in B. platyphylla control and post-fire plots(83.1% and 86.2%) and L. gmelinii control and post-fire plots(83.7% and 88.7%). In addition, the short-term temperature coefficients in B.platyphylla control and post-fire plots were 5.33 and 5, respectively, and 9.12, and 5.26 in L. gmelinii control and post-fire plots, respectively. 5Gene mutations and clinical phenotypes in 15 Chinese children with cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome(CAPS)显示文摘The aim of our study is to explore the features of clinical manifestations and genetic mutations in Chinese CAPS patients. Fifteen confirmed patients with CAPS were enrolled. The onset time ranges from 2 days after birth to 6 years and 1 month. Recurrent urticaria rash(93.3%) with fever(100%) were two dominant characteristics of these patients that were presented as either acute or chronic process. Systemic involvements were found in all patients except for one with only rash and fever. The top three symptoms were fever(100%), rash(93.3%) and myalgia(76%). Other clinical manifestations include arthritis(11 cases), lung involvement(seven cases), optical dysfunction(seven cases), nerve deafness(six cases), nervous system involvement(five cases), hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and lymphadenectasis(five cases). Also, four patients had heart involvement and one patient suffered kidney involvement. The laboratory inflammation index such as leukocyte counts, platelet counts, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP), serum amyloid A(SAA) and fibrinogen(FIB) increased significantly at initial stage, but decreased after therapy. As for gene mutation detection, Twelve out of 15 patients were confirmed with mutation in NLRP3, including 11 mutant site: c1789 A>G, c.1703 T>A, c.913 G>A, c.1710 G>C, c.1057 G >T, c.2335 C>T, c.932 T>C,c.296 G>C, c.663 C>T, t.1702 T>A, 299 G>A. Mutation sites c.1703 T>A, c.2335 C>T, c.296 G>C, c.663 C>T, and 299 G>A were newly identified. The association between gene mutation and clinical manifestation shows that D305 N was highly associated with severe organs involvements, and therefore, the time of therapy and regimen were critical for the prognosis of disease. As the largest cohort study of Chinese CAPS patients, we confirmed that all patients presented typical clinical manifestations, identified five new mutation sites on NLRP3 and analyzed the correlation between the genotypes and phenotypes. 6Dietary garcinol supplementation improves diarrhea and intestinal barrier function associated with its modulation of gut microbiota in weaned piglets显示文摘Background:The effects of dietary garcinol on diarrhea and intestinal barrier function associated with its modulation of gut microbiota in weaned piglets were investigated.Method:One hundred forty four weaned piglets(Duroc×Yorkshire×Landrace)from 16 pens(9 piglets per pen)were randomly divided into four treatment groups:controls(CON)or those supplemented with 200 mg/kg(LOW),400 mg/kg(MID),or 600 mg/kg(HIGH)diet garcinol.After 14-day trial,three piglets per pen were chosen to collect plasma,intestinal tissue and colonic digesta samples.Results:We demonstrated for the first time that garcinol promoted growth performance,as increased average daily feed intake(ADFI)and decreased feed/gain ratio(F/G);and reduced diarrhea incidence(P<0.05);and strengthened antioxidant capacity,as an increased antioxidative index(P<0.05).Additionally,garcinol ameliorated intestinal barrier dysfunction,as an increased villus height to crypt depth ratio,increased zonula occludens protein 1(ZO-1),occludin and claudin-1 expression in the jejunum and ileum(P<0.05),and decreased intestinal permeability(P<0.05);and reduced inflammation,as decreased cytokine interleukin(IL)-6,IL-10,IL-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)levels in the mucosa of the jejunum and ileum,and NF-κB p65 translocation(P<0.05).Moreover,garcinol inhibited the growth of most harmful bacteria in the gut,especially Escherichia coli,and increased the growth of the beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus.Conclusion:This work provides a fundamental basis for the future development of garcinol-functional food use for improving diarrhea and intestinal barrier function in weaned piglets and for understanding the biological effects of garcinol and its potential as a functional feed additive.Tongxin Wang Weilei Yao Juan Li Yafei Shao Qiongyu He Jun Xia Feiruo Huang 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,3:8
7Low-frequency unsteadiness of vortex wakes over slender bodies at high angle of attack显示文摘A type of flow unsteadiness with low frequencies and large amplitude was investigated experimentally for vortex wakes around an ogive-tangent cylinder. The experiments were carried out at angles of attack of 60–80 and subcritical Reynolds numbers of 0.6–1.8×105. The reduced frequencies of the unsteadiness are between 0.038 and 0.072, much less than the frequency of Karman vortex shedding. The unsteady flow induces large fluctuations of sectional side forces. The results of pressure measurements and particle image velocimetry indicate that the flow unsteadiness comes from periodic oscillation of the vortex wakes over the slender body. The time-averaged vortex patterns over the slender body are asymmetric, whose orientation is dependent on azimuthal locations of tip perturbations. 8Moisture content thresholds for ignition and rate of fire spread for various dead fuels in northeast forest ecosystems of China显示文摘Fuel moisture content is one of the important factors that determine ignition probability and fire behaviour in forest ecosystems.In this study,ignition and fire spread moisture content thresholds of 40 dead fuel were performed in laboratory experiments,with a focus on the source of ignition and wind speed.Variability in fuel moisture content at time of ignition and during fire spread was observed for different fuels.Matches were more efficient to result in ignition and spread fire with high values of fuel moisture content compared to the use of cigarette butts.Some fuels did not ignite at 15%moisture content,whereas others ignited at 40%moisture content and fire spread at 38%moisture content in the case of matches,or ignited at 27%moisture content and spread fire at 25%moisture content using cigarette butts.A two-way ANOVA showed that both the source of ignition and the wind speed affected ignition and fire spread threshold significantly,but there was no interaction between these factors.The relationship between ignition and fire spread was strong,with R2=98%for cigarette butts,and 92%for matches.Further information is needed,especially on the density of fuels,fuel proportion(case of mixed fuels),fuel age,and fuel combustibility.Maombi Mbusa Masinda Long Sun Guangyu Wang Tongxin Hu 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,3:4

This study analyzes user behavior in e-mail subject participation in organizations by using social network analysis. First, the Enron dataset and the position-related information of an employee are introduced, and methods for deletion of false data are presented. Next, the three-layer model(User, Subject, Keyword) is proposed for analysis of user behavior. Then, the proposed keyword selection algorithm based on a greedy approach, and the influence and propagation of an e-mail subject are defined. Finally, the e-mail user behavior is analyzed for the Enron organization. 12Evolution of Neolithic site distribution(9.0–4.0 ka BP) in Anhui,East China显示文摘Based on archaeological surveys of Neolithic cultural development and GIS spatial analysis,this study reproduced the main characteristics of temporal distribution and settlement selection of the sites from the Neolithic Age in Anhui and identified a relationship between environmental evolution and human activity.The results show that altitude,slope direction,and slope gradient were consistent among the settlements at different stages of the Neolithic Age in Anhui,and the sites were mostly distributed in hilly and plain areas on southeast-or south-facing slopes of low gradients close to rivers.We determined that early Neolithic Age(9.0–7.0 ka BP) sites were scattered in small numbers and likely had little cultural exchange with communities of other provinces.The environmental characteristics of various regions in Anhui indicated that the climate was warm and humid with extensive water distribution.The sites of the mid Neolithic Age(7.0–5.0 ka BP) increased rapidly with wide distribution.They were mainly distributed in the plain area north of the Huaihe River and the southwestern areas of Anhui.In the mid Neolithic Age,the warm and humid climate gradually dried,and our ancestors slowly developed cultural exchanges.The largest number of sites existed during the late Neolithic Age(5.0–4.0 ka BP),and were distributed throughout the province.During this period,the overall climate was relatively dry,but humans could still obtain water and other resources through migration.The relatively benign climate facilitated cultural interaction and exchange,which increased during this time,and the Wanjiang culture matured.We also determined that as early civilization evolved,cultures in different regions responded differently to environmental changes.In humid subtropical regions,especially in low-lying plains and areas beside lakes,rivers,and coastal areas,the relatively dry climate in the late period of the middle Holocene,prefaced by a period of high humidity,was conducive to the development of human culture.The evidence from the Neolithic settlements in Anhui therefore reflects this subtropical man-land relationship between cultural development and environmental conditions.WU Li SUN Xiaoling SUN Wei ZHU Cheng ZHU Tongxin LU Shuguang ZHOU Hui GUO Qingchun GUAN Houchun XIE Wei KE Rui LIN Guiping 2020Journal of Geographical Sciences2020,30,9:2
13Prediction model of moisture content of dead fine fuel in forest plantations on Maoer Mountain,Northeast China显示文摘Preventing and suppressing forest fires is one of the main tasks of forestry agencies to reduce resource loss and requires a thorough understanding of the importance of factors affecting their occurrence.This study was carried out in forest plantations on Maoer Mountain in order to develop models for predicting the moisture content of dead fine fuel using meteorological and soil variables.Models by Nelson(Can J For Res 14:597-600,1984)and Van Wagner and Pickett(Can For Service 33,1985)describing the equilibrium moisture content as a function of relative humidity and temperature were evaluated.A random forest and generalized additive models were built to select the most important meteorological variables affecting fuel moisture content.Nelson’s(Can J For Res 14:597-600,1984)model was accurate for Pinus koraiensis,Pinus sylvestris,Larix gmelinii and mixed Larix gmelinii—Ulmus propinqua fuels.The random forest model showed that temperature and relative humidity were the most important factors affecting fuel moisture content.The generalized additive regression model showed that temperature,relative humidity and rain were the main drivers affecting fuel moisture content.In addition to the combined effects of temperature,rainfall and relative humidity,solar radiation or wind speed were also significant on some sites.In P.koraiensis and P.sylvestris plantations,where soil parameters were measured,rain,soil moisture and temperature were the main factors of fuel moisture content.The accuracies of the random forest model and generalized additive model were similar,however,the random forest model was more accurate but underestimated the effect of rain on fuel moisture.Maombi Mbusa Masinda Fei Li Qi Liu Long Sun Tongxin Hu 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,5:2

15Revealing the effect of anion-tuning in bimetallic chalcogenides on electrocatalytic overall water splitting显示文摘Enhancing electrocatalytic water splitting performance by modulating the intrinsic electronic structure is of great importance. Here, porous bimetallic oxide and chalcogenide nanosheets grown on carbon paper denoted as NiCo2X4/CP (X = O, S, and Se) are prepared to demonstrate how the anion components affect the electronic structures and thereby disclose the correlation between their intermediates interaction and catalytic activities. The experimental characterization and theoretical calculation demonstrate that Se and S substitution can promote the ratio of Co^(3+)/Co^(2+) and thereby modulate the electronic structure accompanied with the upshift of d band centers, which not only enhance the inner conductivity but also regulate the interaction between the catalyst surface and intermediates, especially for the adsorption of absorbed H and hydroperoxy intermediates towards respective hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). 16EFFECTS OF SOIL CRUSTING ON SOIL MOISTURE, RUNOFF AND EROSION: FIELD OBSERVATIONS显示文摘Soil crusting may have significant impacts on infiltration, runoff generation and erosion in agricultural lands or semi-arid and arid soils. The previous investigations on soil crusting were often conducted under simulated rainfall conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effects of soil crusting on soil moisture during inter-storm periods and soil and water losses during storm periods under natural rainfalls. The study site was located in the Loess Plateau of China. Four plots with a uniform slope and size were selected. Soil crusts were kept intact on the two plots throughout the monitoring periods of 1999 and 2000, but were broken after each rain storm event on the other two plots. Soil moisture was measured on all plots with an interval of one week at three depths and total event runoff and sediment discharges were measured in each storm. It was found that no marked difference in soil moisture and runoff exists between the crusted and uncrusted plots. This is because the rapid development of new crusts on the uncrusted plots during the storm events. However, the erosion rate on the uncrusted plots was significantly higher than that on the crusted plots, which was mainly caused by the disturbance of the surface soils on the uncrusted plots. 17Establishment and evaluation of an overlap extension polymerase chain reaction technique for rapid and efficient detection of drug-resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis显示文摘Background:Rapid and accurate detection of drug resistance inMycobacterium tuberculosis is critical for effective control of tuberculosis(TB).Herein,we established a novel,low cost strategy having high accuracy and speed for the detection ofM.tuberculosis drug resistance,using gene splicing by overlap extension PCR(SOE PCR).Methods:The SOE PCR assay and Sanger sequencing are designed and constructed to detect mutations of rpoB,embB,katG,andinhA promoter,which have been considered as the major contributors to rifampicin(RFP),isoniazid(INH),and ethambutol(EMB)resistance inM.tuberculosis.One hundred and eightM.tuberculosis isolates came from mycobacterial cultures of TB cases at Chongqing Public Health Medical Center in China from December 2018 to April 2019,of which 56 isolates were tested with the GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay.Performance evaluation of the SOE PCR technique was compared with traditional mycobacterial culture and drug susceptibility testing(DST)or GeneXpert MTB/RIF among these isolates.Kappa identity test was used to analyze the consistency of the different diagnostic methods.Results:We found that the mutations of S531L,S315T and M306V were most prevalent for RFP,INH and EMB resistance,respectively,in the 108 M.tuberculosis isolates.Compared with phenotypic DST,the sensitivity and specificity of the SOE PCR assay for resistance detection were 100.00% and 88.00% for RFP,94.64% and 94.23% for INH,and 68.97% and 79.75% for EMB,respectively.Compared with the GeneXpert MTB/RIF,the SOE PCR method was completely consistent with results of the GeneXpert MTB/RIF,with a concordance of 100% for resistance to RFP.Conclusions:In present study,a novel SOE PCR diagnostic method was successfully developed for the accurate detection ofM.tuberculosis drug resistance.Our results using this method have a high consistency with that of traditional phenotypic DST or GeneXpert MTB/RIF,and SOE PCR testing in clinical isolates can also be conducted rapidly and simultaneously for detection of drug resistance to RFP,EMB,and INH.Jungang Li Jing Ouyang Jing Yuan Tongxin Li Ming Luo Jing Wang Yaokai Chen 2022Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,2:2
18Engineering of Co_(3O)_(4)@Ni_(2)P heterostructure as trifunctional electrocatalysts for rechargeable zinc-air battery and self-powered overall water splitting显示文摘Rational design of highly efficient,robust and nonprecious electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is highly demanded and challenging.Here,heterostructural Co_(3O)_(4)@Ni_(2)P arrays with numerous reaction sites,unique interfacial electronic structure and fast charge transfer kinetics are developed as electrocatalysts for rechargeable Zn-air batteries and overall water splitting.Both density functional theory calculation and X-ray absorption fine structure analysis manifest that the synergistic structural and abundant electronic modulations interfaces are formed,thus simultaneously promoting the electrocatalytic kinetics,activities and stabilities.Specifically,it can achieve an ultralow overpotential of 270 m V and 28 m V at 10 m A cm^(-2) for OER and HER,respectively.The water electrolyzer delivers a current density of 10 m A cm^(-2) at 1.563 V;furthermore,rechargeable Zn-air batteries triggered by this heterostructure can achieve excellent cyclic stability of 177 h(2 h per cycle)at 10 m A cm^(-2);both devices are superior to the Pt/C+Ir/C.This work not only designs an efficient trifunctional electrocatalyst but also paves an avenue to understand the heterostructure engineering for catalysts development and disclose the underlying relationship of interfacial electronic structures and catalytic properties.Xiaolin Hu Tongxin Yang Zuguang Yang Zongyang Li Ronghua Wang Meng Li Guangsheng Huang Bin Jiang Chaohe Xu Fusheng Pan 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,20:1
