| 1 | Outline of the Report on Cardiovascular Disease in China,2010显示文摘Major and profound changes have taken place in China over the past 30 years.Rapid socioeconomic progress has exerted a great impact on lifestyle,ranging from food,clothing,working and living conditions,and means of transportation to leisure activities and entertainment.At the same time,new health problems have emerged,and health services are facing new challenges.Presently,cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are among the top health problems of the Chinese people,and pose a serious challenge to all engaged in the prevention and control of these diseases.An epidemic of CVD in China is emerging as a result of lifestyle changes,urbanization and longevity.Both national policy decision-making and medical practice urgently need an authoritative report which comprehensively reflects the trends in the epidemic of CVD and current preventive measures.Since 2005,guided by the Bureau of Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China and the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases of China,nationwide experts in the fields of epidemiology,clinical medicine and health economics in the realms of CVD,cerebrovascular disease,diabetes and chronic kidney disease,completed the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China every year.The report aims to provide a timely review of the trend of the epidemic and to assess the progress of prevention and control of CVD.In addition,as the report is authoritative,representative and readable,it will become an information platform in the CVD field and an important reference book for government,academic institutes,medical organizations and clinical physicians.This publication is expected to play a positive role in the prevention and control of CVD in China.We present an abstract from the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China (2010),including trends in CVD,morbidity and mortality of major CVDs,up-to-date assessment of risk factors,as well as health resources for CVD,and a profile of medical expenditure,with the aim of providing evidence for decision-making in CVD prevention and control programs in China,and of delivering the most authoritative information on CVD prevention and control for all citizens. | HUSheng Shou KONG Ling Zhi GAO Run Lin ZHU Man Lu WANG Wen WANG Yong Jun WU Zhao Su CHEN Wei Wei LIU Ming Bo For the editorial board | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3: | 93 |

| 5 | Overexpression of OsPAP10a, A Root-Associated Acid Phosphatase, Increased Extracellular Organic Phosphorus Utilization in Rice显示文摘Phosphorus (P) deficiency is a major limitation for plant growth and development. Among the wide set of responses to cope with low soil P, plants increase their level of intracellular and secreted acid phosphatases (APases), which helps to catalyze inorganic phosphate (Pi) hydrolysis from organophosphates. In this study we characterized the rice (Oryza sativa) purple acid phosphatase 10a (OsPAP10a). OsPAP10a belongs to group Ia of purple acid phosphatases (PAPs), and clusters with the principal secreted PAPs in a variety of plant species including Arabidopsis. The transcript abundance of OsPAP10a is specifically induced by Pi deficiency and is controlled by OsPHR2, the central transcription factor controlling Pi homeostasis. In gel activity assays of root and shoot protein extracts, it was revealed that OsPAP10a is a major acid phosphatase isoform induced by Pi starvation. Constitutive overexpression of OsPAP10a results in a significant increase of phosphatase activity in both shoot and root protein extracts. In vivo root 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-phosphate (BCIP) assays and activity measurements on external media showed that OsPAP10a is a root-associated APase. Furthermore, overexpression of OsPAP10a significantly improved ATP hydrolysis and utilization compared with wild type plants. | 11 | Value of fasting plasma glucose to screen gestational diabetes mellitus before the 24th gestational week in women with different pre-pregnancy body mass index显示文摘Background:Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is usually diagnosed between 24th and 28th gestational week using the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT).It is difficult to predict GDM before 24th gestational week because fast plasma glucose(FPG)decreases as the gestational age increases.It is controversial that if FPG≥5.1 mmol/L before 24th gestational week should be intervened or not.The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of FPG to screen GDM before 24th gestational week in women with different pre-pregnancy body mass index(BMI).Methods:This was a multi-region retrospective cohort study in China.Women who had a singleton live birth between June 20,2013 and November 30,2014,resided in Beijing,Guangzhou and Chengdu,and received prenatal care in 21 selected hospitals,were included in this study.Pre-pregnancy BMI,FPG before the 24th gestational week,and one-step GDM screening with 75 g-OGTT at the 24th to 28th gestational weeks were extracted from medical charts and analyzed.The pregnant women were classified into four groups based on pre-pregnancy BMI:Group A(underweight,BMI<18.5 kg/m^2),Group B(normal,BMI 18.5-23.9 kg/m^2),Group C(overweight,BMI 24.0-27.9 kg/m^2)and Group D(obesity,BMI≥28.0 kg/m^2).The trend of FPG before 24th week of gestation was described,and the sensitivity and specificity of using FPG before the 24th gestational week to diagnose GDM among different pre-pregnancy BMI groups were reported.Differences in the means between groups were evaluated using independent sample t-test and analysis of variance.Pearson Chi-square test was used for categorical variables.Results:The prevalence of GDM was 20.0%(6806/34,087)in the study population.FPG decreased gradually as the gestational age increased in all pre-pregnancy BMI groups until the 19th gestational week.FPG was higher in women with higher pre-pregnancy BMI.FPG before the 24th gestational week and pre-pregnancy BMI could be used to predict GDM.The incidence of GDM in women with FPG≥5.10 mmol/L in the 19th to 24th gestational weeks and pre-pregnancy overweight or obesity was significantly higher than that in women with FPG≥5.10 mmol/L and pre-pregnancy BMI<24.0 kg/m^2(78.5%[62/79]vs.52.9%[64/121],χ^2=13.425,P<0.001).Conclusions:FPG decreased gradually as the gestational age increased in all pre-pregnancy BMI groups until the 19th gestational week.Pre-pregnancy overweight or obesity was associated with an increased FPG value before the 24th gestational week.FPG≥5.10 mmol/L between 19 and 24 gestational weeks should be treated as GDM in women with pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity. | Yu-Mei Wei Xin-Yue Liu Chong Shou Xing-Hui Liu Wen-Ying Meng Zi-Lian Wang Yun-Feng Wang Yong-Qing Wang Zhen-Yu Cai Li-Xin Shang Ying Sun Hui-Xia Yang | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,8: | 13 |
| 12 | Indirectly extruded biodegradable Zn-0.05wt%Mg alloy with improved strength and ductility: In vitro and in vivo studies显示文摘As compared to permanent orthopedic implants for load-bearing applications, biodegradable orthopedic implants have the advantage of no need for removing after healing, but they suffer from the 'trilemma' problem of compromising among sufficiently high mechanical properties, good biocompatibility and proper degradation rate conforming to the growth rate of new bones. In the present work, in vitro and in vivo studies of a Zn-0.05 wt%Mg alloy(namely, Zn-0.05 Mg alloy) were conducted with pure Zn as a control. The Zn-0.05 Mg alloy is composed of a small amount of Mg_2 Zn11 phase embedded in the refined Zn matrix with an average grain size of ~20 μm. The addition of 0.05 wt% Mg into Zn significantly increases the ultimate tensile strength up to 225 MPa and the elongation to fracture to 26%, but has little influence on the in vitro degradation rate. Both Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy exhibit homogeneous in vitro degradation with a rate of about 0.15 mm/year. Based on the cytotoxicity evaluation, Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy do not induce toxicity to L-929 cells, indicating that they have little toxicity to the general functions of the animal. An in vivo biocompatibility study of Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy samples by placing them in a rabbit model for 4.12 and 24 weeks, respectively did not show any inflammatory cells, and demonstrated that new bone tissue formed at the bone/implant interface, suggesting that Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy promote the formation of new bone tissue. The in vivo degradation of Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy does not bring harm to the important organs and their cell structures. More interestingly, Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy exhibit strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. | 17 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 18 | Genesis Types and Diagenesis Compaction Mechanisms of Sandstone Rreservoirs in Dynamic Environments in Oil/Gas Basins in China显示文摘The diversity of sandstone diagenesis mechanisms caused by the complex geological conditions of oil/gas basins in China could hardly be reasonably explained by the traditional concept of burial diagenesis. Three genesis types of thermal diagenesis, tectonic diagenesis and fluid diagenesis are presented on the basis of the dynamic environment of the oil/gas basins and the controlling factors and mechanisms of sandstone diagenesis. Thermal diagenesis of sandstone reservoirs is related not only to the effect of formation temperature on diagenesis, but also to the significant changes in diagenesis caused by geothermal gradients. The concept of thermal compaction is presented. Thermal compaction becomes weaker with increasing depth and becomes stronger at a higher geothermal gradient. At the same formation temperature, the sandstone porosity in the region with a lower geothermal gradient is e0.077+0.0042T times higher than that in the region with a higher geothermal gradient. Both sudden and gradual changes are observed in diagenetic evolution caused by structural deformation. Average sandstone compaction increased by 0.1051% for every 1.0MPa increase of lateral tectonic compressional stress, while late tectonic napping helped to preserve a higher porosity of underlying sandstone reservoir. Fluid diagenesis is a general phenomenon. The compaction caused by fluid properties is significant. The coarser the grain size, the stronger the fluid effect on compaction. | 19 | Identification and expression analysis of OsHsfs in rice显示文摘Heat stress transcription factors (Hsfs) are the central regulators of defense response to heat stress. We identified a total of 25 rice Hsf genes by genome-wide analysis of rice (Oryza sativa L.) genome, including the subspecies of O. japonica and O. indica. Proteins encoded by OsHsfs were divided into three classes according to their structures. Digital Northern analysis showed that OsHsfs were expressed constitutively. The expressions of these OsHsfs in response to heat stress and oxidative stress differed among the members of the gene family. Promoter analysis identified a number of stress-related cis-elements in the promoter regions of these OsHsfs. No significant correlation, however, was found between the heat-shock responses of genes and their cis-elements.
