1Experimental study on the effect of granular backfill with various gradations on the mechanical behavior of rock显示文摘Backfilling is a common practice in the mining industry and the backfilling performance plays a significant role in supporting the surrounding rock mass.To evaluate the backfilling performance,an experimental apparatus has been developed to understand how backfill affects the compressive strength of sandstone specimens in the laboratory.Pebbles were selected to model the backfill and divided into six groups with different particle sizes using a set of standard sieves.The backfilling pebbles with three types of particle size compositions were then produced,i.e.single gradation,two adjacent gradations,and increasingly widening gradations.A series of compressive tests were carried out to study the mechanical behavior of the sandstone specimens confined by these pebbles.The effects of the gradations of the filled pebbles on the peak and residual compressive strengths were analyzed.It is found that the increasing amount of the compressive strength is over 10%in most cases,even up to 20%.Based on the experiment data,the increasing amount was also estimated theoretically under some assumptions and it further confirmed the experimental results.The effects are closely related to the gradations of the filled pebbles except for their dense degree.Zhihua Le Qinglei Yu Wancheng Zhu Hongyuan Liu Tianhong Yang 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,5:2
2The effect of oxygen on the epitaxial growth of diamond显示文摘We studied the effect of oxygen on the growth quality of diamond epitaxial layers. After oxygen is added during the growth of the diamond epitaxial layer, as the thickness of the epitaxial layer increases, the full width at half maximum of the rocking curve of the(004) plane of diamond epitaxial layer increases continuously, and, in addition, the intensities of both the Raman peaks and the free exciton emission peaks of the diamond epitaxial layer decrease continuously. These experimental results demonstrate that as the thickness of the diamond epitaxial layer increases, the quality of the diamond epitaxial layer degrades. 3Highly dispersed Mn_2O_3 microspheres:Facile solvothermal synthesis and their application as Li-ion battery anodes显示文摘Nanostructured transition metal oxides are promising alternative anodes for lithium ion batteries.Li-ion storage performance is expected to improve if high packing density energy particles are available.Herein,Mn_2O_3 microspheres with a ca.18 μm diameter and a tapped density of 1.33 g/cm^3 were synthesized by a facile solvothermal-thermal coversion route.Spherical MnCO_3 precursors were obtained through solvothermal treatment and they decomposed and converted into Mn_2O_3 microspheres at an annealing temperature of 700 C.The Mn_2O_3 microspheres consisted of Mn_2O_3 nanoparticles with an average 40 nm diameter.These porous Mn_2O_3 microspheres allow good electrolyte penetration and provide an ion buffer reservoir to ensure a constant electrolyte supply.The Mn_2O_3 microspheres have reversible capacities of590 and 320 mAh/g at 50 and 400 mA/g,respectively.We thus report an efficient route for the fabrication of energy particles for advanced energy storage.Jianfei Yu Lin Zhu Cheng Fan Cheng Zan Ling Hu Shuhui Yang Qiang Zhang Wancheng Zhu Lin Shi Fei Wei 2015Particuology2015,13,5:1

8Enhancing the HSV-1-mediated antitumor immune response by suppressing Bach1显示文摘Background In 2015,herpes simplex virus 1(HSV-1)-derived talimogene laherparepvec(T-VEC)was the first oncolytic virus approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as a therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.However,its antitumor application is limited to local treatment of melanoma,and there is a lack of understanding of the mechanisms underlying the regulation of HSV-1 replication in cancer cells and the associated antitumor immunity.We hypothesized that increasing the replication capacity of HSV-1 in tumor cells would enhance the antitumor effect of this virus.Methods We systematically identified IFN-stimulated genes induced by HSV-1 by performing functional screens and clarified the mechanism by which BACH1 acts against HSV-1.Then,we tested the effect of BACH1 deficiency on immunogenic cell death induced by HSV-1.Furthermore,we investigated the antitumor effect of BACH1 deficiency on HSV-1 in MCA205 and B16 murine tumor models.Results We identified eight IFN-stimulated genes(ISGs)controlling HSV-1 replication,among which BTB and CNC homology 1(BACH1)suppressed HSV-1 replication by inhibiting the transcription of ICP4,ICP27,and UL39.Loss of Bach1 function not only increased HSV-1 proliferation but also promoted HSV-1-induced cell apoptosis,HMGB1 secretion,and calreticulin exposure in tumor cells.More importantly,hemin,an FDA-approved drug known to downregulate BACH1,significantly enhanced HSV-1-mediated antitumor activity with increased T lymphocyte infiltration at the tumor site.Conclusions Our studies uncovered a novel antiviral activity of BACH1 and provided a new strategy for improving the clinical efficiency of the oncolytic virus HSV-1.Chaohu Pan Qiaomei Cai Xiaorong Li Lili Li Liping Yang Yu Chen Junxiao Liu Wancheng Liu Meiling Gao Tianqi Sui Xiaoyang Wang Huiming Fan Jiayin Ruan Yueyue Shi Saihua Chen Lucy S.Cheng Jiayong Liu Heng Yang Genhong Cheng 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,4:0

11Homeoprotein SIX1 compromises antitumor immunity through TGF-β-mediated regulation of collagens显示文摘The tumor microenvironment(TME),including infiltrated immune cells,is known to play an important role in tumor growth;however,the mechanisms underlying tumor immunogenicity have not been fully elucidated.Here,we discovered an unexpected role for the transcription factor SIX1 in regulating the tumor immune microenvironment.Based on analyses of patient datasets,we found that SIX1 was upregulated in human tumor tissues and that its expression levels were negatively correlated with immune cell infiltration in the TME and the overall survival rates of cancer patients.Deletion of Six1 in cancer cells significantly reduced tumor growth in an immune-dependent manner with enhanced antitumor immunity in the TME.Mechanistically,SIX1 was required for the expression of multiple collagen genes via the TGFBR2-dependent Smad2/3 activation pathway,and collagen deposition in the TME hampered immune cell infiltration and activation.Thus,our study uncovers a crucial role for SIX1 in modulating tumor immunogenicity and provides proof-of-concept evidence for targeting SIX1 in cancer immunotherapy.Wancheng Liu Meiling Gao Lili Li Yu Chen Huimin Fan Qiaomei Cai Yueyue Shi Chaohu Pan Junxiao Liu Lucy S.Cheng Heng Yang Genhong Cheng 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,12:0
