1Relative effects of phylogeny,biological characters and environments on leaf traits in shrub biomes across central Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘Aims Understanding the drivers for leaf traits is critical to improving our predictions on ecosystems'responses to global changes.Geographic patterns of leaf traits are shaped by phylogenetic,biological and environmental factors simultaneously.However,till now few studies have examined how these factors influenced leaf traits together,and how their effects differed at the within-and among-site levels.Methods We sampled leaf traits from a 1100 km shrub-biome transect across central Inner-Mongolia,including leaf mass per area(LMA),mass-based photosynthetic rate,nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)concentrations.We examined the effects of phylogenetic,biological(height and growth rate)and environmental(climate and soil)fac-tors on leaf traits with mixed-model analyses of variance.Variation partitioning method was used to separate the joint and independent effects of these three types of factors.Important Findings(i)Climate and soil fertility(total or available nutrient concentra-tions)together explained 11.4-41.4%of among-site variations,with remarkable difference among traits.(i)Height and height growth rate together explained 0.4--31.9%of trait variations(mostly among-site variations).Our results could only weakly support the ability of leaf traits as predictors for whole-plant growth.(ii)LMA was negatively related to height,which was consistent with the resource-use strategy hypothesis but incon-sistent with the hypotheses proposed for coexisting trees,suggest-ing that the LMA--height relationship is shaped by rather different mechanisms between the within-and among-communities lev-els.(iv)The variation partitioning analysis showed that,the rela-tionships between leaf traits and biological characters largely reflected the differences in both leaf traits and biological char-acters among species that occupying different sites.The relative importance of phylogenetic,biological and environmental fac-tors differed remarkably among leaf traits,between the within-and among-communities levels,and between different biomes.(v)Our results strongly suggest the necessity of examining the three types of factors simultaneously,and at both the within-and among-communities levels,for a better understanding of the drivers for leaf traits patterns.Chao Liu Xiangping Wang Xian Wu Shuang Dai Jin-Sheng He Weilun Yin 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,3:19
2Classification of brain arteriovenous malformations located in motor-related areas based on location and anterior choroidal artery feeding显示文摘Objective Surgical management of arteriovenous malformations(AVMs)involving motor cortex or fibre tracts(M-AVMs)is challenging.This study aimed to construct a classification system based on nidus locations and anterior choroidal artery(AChA)feeding to pre-surgically evaluate motor-related and seizure-related outcomes in patients undergoing resection of M-AVMs.Methods and materials A total of 125 patients who underwent microsurgical resection of M-AVMs were retrospectively reviewed.Four subtypes were identified based on nidus location:(I)nidus involving the premotor area and/or supplementary motor areas;(II)nidus involving the precentral gyrus;(III)nidus involving the corticospinal tract(CST)and superior to the posterior limb of the internal capsule;(IV)nidus involving the CST at or inferior to the level of posterior limb of the internal capsule.In addition,we divided type IV into type IVa and type IVb according to the AChA feeding.Surgical-related motor deficit(MD)evaluations were performed 1 week(short-term)and 6 months(long-term)after surgery.Results The type I patients exhibited the highest incidence(62.0%)of pre-surgical epilepsy among the four subtypes.Multivariate analysis showed that motor-related area subtypes(p=0.004)and diffuse nidus(p=0.014)were significantly associated with long-term MDs.Long-term MDs were significantly less frequent in type I than in the other types.Type IV patients acquired the highest proportion(four patients,25.0%)of long-term poor outcomes(mRS>2).Type IVb patients showed a significantly higher incidence of post-surgical MDs than type IVa patients(p=0.041).The MDs of type III or IV patients required more recovery time.Of the 62 patients who had pre-surgical seizures,90.3%(56/62)controlled their seizures well and reached Engel class I after surgery.Conclusions Combining the consideration of location and AChA feeding,the classification for M-AVMs is a useful approach for predicting post-surgical motor function and decision-making.Yuming Jiao Hao Li Weilun Fu Jiancong Weng Ran Huo Yinyan Wang Shuo Wang Tao Jiang Yong Cao Ji Zong Zhao 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,3:4
3Post-Synthetic and In Situ Vacancy Repairing of Iron Hexacyanoferrate Toward Highly Stable Cathodes for Sodium-Ion Batteries显示文摘Iron hexacyanoferrate(FeHCF)is a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries.However,FeHCF always suffers from a poor cycling stability,which is closely related to the abundant vacancy defects in its framework.Herein,post-synthetic and in-situ vacancy repairing strategies are proposed for the synthesis of highquality FeHCF in a highly concentrated Na_(4)Fe(CN)_(6) solution.Both the post-synthetic and in-situ vacancy repaired FeHCF products(FeHCF-P and FeHCF-I)show the significant decrease in the number of vacancy defects and the reinforced structure,which can suppress the side reactions and activate the capacity from low-spin Fe in FeHCF.In particular,FeHCF-P delivers a reversible discharge capacity of 131 mAh g^(−1) at 1 C and remains 109 mAh g^(−1) after 500 cycles,with a capacity retention of 83%.FeHCF-I can deliver a high discharge capacity of 158.5 mAh g^(−1) at 1 C.Even at 10 C,the FeHCF-I electrode still maintains a discharge specific capacity of 103 mAh g^(−1) and retains 75% after 800 cycles.This work provides a new vacancy repairing strategy for the solution synthesis of high-quality FeHCF.Min Wan Rui Zeng Jingtao Meng Zexiao Cheng Weilun Chen Jiayu Peng Wuxing Zhang Yunhui Huang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,1:3
4Si/Cu3_Si@C Composite Encapsulated in CNTs Network as High Performance Anode for Lithium Ion Batteries显示文摘Si/Cu3Si@C composites encapsulated in CNTs network(SCC-CNTs) were synthesized via the combination of ball-milling and CVD methods. SCC-CNTs consist of conductive Cu3Si, amorphous carbon layer, cross-linked CNTs, and the etched pores, which can play the synergistic effects on the improvement of electronic conductivity and Li^+ diffusion. The volume expansion of Si anode is also suppressed during the electrochemical process. The SCC-CNTs composites demonstrate a remarkably improved electrochemical performance compared with pure Si, which can deliver a discharge capacity of 2 171 mAh·g^-1 at 0.4 A·g^-1 with ICE of 85.2%, and retain 1197 mAh· g^-1 after 150 cycles. 5Verticillium dahliae Secretory Effector PevD1 Induces Leaf Senescence by Promoting ORE1-Mediated Ethylene Biosynthesis显示文摘Leaf senescence,the final stage of leaf development,is influenced by numerous internal and environmental signals.So far,how biotic stresses such as pathogen infection regulate leaf senescence is unclear.Here,we found that the premature leaf senescence caused by a soil-borne vascular fungus Verticillium dahliae in Arabidopsis was impaired by the mutation of a protein elicitor from V.dahliae 1(PevD1).Constitutive or inducible overexpression of PevD1 accelerated Arabidopsis leaf senescence.A senescence-associated NAC transcription factor,ORE1,was targeted by PevD1.PevD1 interacted with and stabilized ORE1 protein by disrupting its interaction with the RING-type ubiquitin E3 ligase NLA.Mutation of ORE1 suppressed the premature senescence caused by overexpressing PevD1.Overexpression of ORE1 or PevD1 led to enhanced ethylene production,and ORE1 mediated PevD1-induced ethylene biosynthesis by directly binding to the ACS6 promoter.Loss-of-function of ACSs suppressed V.dahliae-induced leaf senescence in ORE1-overexpressing plants.Interestingly,PevD1 also interacted with Gossypium hirsutum ORE1(GhORE1),and virus-induced gene silencing of GhORE1 delayed V.dahliae-triggered leaf senescence in cotton,indicative of the existence of a conserved mechanism in plants.Altogether,our study demonstrates that V.dahliae induces leaf senescence by secreting the effector PevD1 to regulate the ORE1-ACS6 cascade,providing new insight into biotic stress-induced senescence in plants.Yi Zhang Yuhan Gao Hou-Ling Wang Chengcheng Kan Ze Li Xiufen Yang Weilun Yin Xinli Xia Hong Gil Nam Zhonghai Li Hongwei Guo 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,11:2
6Multi-scale mechanotransduction of the poroelastic signals from osteon to osteocyte in bone tissue显示文摘In order to quantify the poroelastic mechanical signals conduction and evaluate the biomechanical effectiveness of functional units(osteocyte processes,canaliculi and lacuna)in lacunar-canalicular system(LCS),a multiscale poroelastic finite element model was established by using the Comsol Multiphysics software.The poroelastic mechanical signals(pore pressure,fluid velocity,von-Mises stress,strain)were analyzed inside the osteon-osteocyte system.The effects of osteocyte(OCY)’s shape(ellipse and circle),long axis directions(horizontal and vertical)and mechanical properties(Elastic modulus and permeability)on its poroelastic responses were examined.It is found that the OCY processes is the best mechanosensor compared with the OCY body,lacunae and canaliculi.The mechanotransduction ability of the elliptic shaped OCY is stronger than that of circular shaped.The pore pressure and flow velocity around OCYs increase as the elastic modulus and permeability of OCY increase.The established model can be used for studying the mechanism of bone mechanotransduction at the multiscale level.Xiaogang Wu Chaoxin Li Kuijun Chen Yuqin Sun Weilun Yu Meizhen Zhang Yanqin Wang Yixian Qin Weiyi Chen 2020Acta Mechanica Sinica2020,36,4:2

9Facile synthesis of Li2S@C composites as cathode for Li–S batteries显示文摘Lithium sulfide (Li2S) provides a promising route for lithium storage due to high theoretical specific capacity (1166 mAh g-1). The electrochemical performance of Li2S can be significantly enhanced by forming Li2S-carbon composites with the introduction of carbon. However, the complex synthesis method of Li2S-carbon composites restrains the large-scale productivity. Herein, we propose a facile route to prepare carbon coated Li2S-carbon nanotube composites (Li2S@C-CNT) via spray drying and heat treatment, which is a low-cost and large-scale method for facile synthesis of Li2S-carbon composites. For the Li2S@C-CNT composites, Li2S nanoparticles are contacted with surrounding particles due to the 3D CNTs framework. The novel construction not only suppresses the diffusion of polysulfides during cycling, but also remarkably accelerates the transport of electron and ion, resulting in a high specific capacity (1100 mAh g^-1) and good cycling performance. 10Proteomic and metabolomic analyses provide insight into the off-flavour of fruits from citrus trees infected with‘Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus’显示文摘Orange fruit from trees infected by‘Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus’(CaLas)often do not look fully mature and exhibit off-flavours described as bitter,harsh,and metallic rather than juicy and fruity.Although previous studies have been carried out to understand the effect of CaLas on the flavour of orange juice using metabolomic methods,the mechanisms leading to the off-flavour that occurs in Huanglongbing(HLB)-symptomatic fruit are not well understood.In this study,fruits were collected from symptomatic and healthy Valencia sweet orange(Citrus sinensis)trees grafted on Swingle(C.paradisi X Poncirus trifoliata)rootstock.Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification(iTRAQ)and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)were used to measure the proteins,sugars,organic acids,amino acids,and volatile terpenoids.The results showed that most of the differentially expressed proteins involved in glycolysis,the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle and amino-acid biosynthesis were degraded,and terpenoid metabolism was significantly downregulated in the symptomatic fruit.Valencene,limonene,3-carene,linalool,myrcene,andα-terpineol levels were significantly lower in fruit from CaLas-infected trees than from healthy trees.Similar phenomena were observed for sucrose and glucose.Our study indicated that off-flavour of symptomatic fruit was associated with a reduction in the levels of terpenoid products and the downregulation of proteins in glycolysis,the TCA cycle,and the terpenoid biosynthesis pathway.Lixiao Yao Qibin Yu Ming Huang Weilun Hung Jude Grosser Shanchun Chen Yu Wang Frederick G.GmitterJr. 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:1
