1Advances in the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most prevalent cancers globally.In contrast to the declining death rates observed for all other common cancers such as breast,lung,and prostate cancers,the death rates for HCC continue to increase by^2e3%per year because HCC is frequently diagnosed late and there is no curative therapy for an advanced HCC.The early diagnosis of HCC is truly a big challenge.Over the past years,the early diagnosis of HCC has relied on surveillance with ultrasonography(US)and serological assessments of alpha-fetoprotein(AFP).However,the specificity and sensitivity of US/AFP is not satisfactory enough to detect early onset HCC.Recent technological advancements offer hope for early HCC diagnosis.Herein,we review the progress made in HCC diagnostics,with a focus on emerging imaging techniques and biomarkers for early disease diagnosis.Weiyi Wang Chao Wei 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,3:42
2The cytokine network involved in the host immune response to periodontitis显示文摘Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease involving the destruction of both soft and hard tissue in the periodontal region.Although dysbiosis of the local microbial community initiates local inflammation,over-activation of the host immune response directly activates osteoclastic activity and alveolar bone loss.Many studies have reported on the cytokine network involved in periodontitis and its crucial and pleiotropic effect on the recruitment of specific immunocytes,control of pathobionts and induction or suppression of osteoclastic activity.Nonetheless,particularities in the stimulation of pathogens in the oral cavity that lead to the specific and complex periodontal cytokine network are far from clarified.Thus,in this review,we begin with an up-to-date aetiological hypothesis of periodontal disease and summarize the roles of cytokines in the host immune response.In addition,we also summarize the latest cytokine-related therapeutic measures for periodontal disease.Weiyi Pan Qingxuan Wang Qianming Chen 2019International Journal of Oral Science2019,11,4:31
3Natural Variation in CCD4 Promoter Underpins Species-Specific Evolution of Red Coloration in Citrus Peel显示文摘Carotenoids and apocarotenoids act as phytohormones and volatile precursors that influence plant development and confer aesthetic and nutritional value critical to consumer preference.Citrus fruits display considerable natural variation in carotenoid and apocarotenoid pigments.In this study,using an integrated genetic approach we revealed that a 5;c/s-regulatory change at CCD4b encoding CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 4b is a major genetic determinant of natural variation in C3 0 apocarotenoids responsible for red coloration of citrus peel.Functional analyses demonstrated that in addition the known role in synthesizing 3-citraurin,CCD4b is also responsible for the production of another important C3 0 apocarotenoid pigment,p-citraurinene.Furthermore,analyses of the CCD4b promoter and transcripts from various citrus germplasm accessions established a tight correlation between the presence of a putative 5'c/s-regulatory enhancer within an MITE transposon and the enhanced allelic expression of CCD4b in C3 0 apocarotenoid-rich red-peeled accessions.Phylogenetic analysis provided further evidence that functional diversification of CCD4b and naturally occurring variation of the CCD4b promoter resulted in the stepwise evolution of red peels in mandarins and their hybrids.Taken together,our findings provide new insights into the genetic and evolutionary basis of apocarotenoid diversity in plants,and would facilitate breeding efforts that aim to improve the nutritional and aesthetic value of citrus and perhaps other fruit crops.Xiongjie Zheng Kaijie Zhu Quan Sun Weiyi Zhang Xia Wang Hongbo Cao Meilian Tan Zongzhou Xie Yunliu Zeng Junli Ye Lijun Chai Qiang Xu Zhiyong Pan Shunyuan Xiao Paul D.Fraser Xiuxin Deng 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,9:18

5The effects of Haversian fluid pressure and harmonic axial loading on the poroelastic behaviors of a single osteon显示文摘In order to well understand the mechanism of the mechanotransduction in bone,we propose a new model of transverse isotropic and poroelastic osteon cylinder considering Haversian fluid pressure.The analytical pore pressure and velocity solutions are obtained to examine the fluid transport behavior and pressure distribution in a loaded osteon on two different exterior surface cases.Case I is stress free and fully permeable and case II is impermeable.The following are the results obtained.(i) The Haversian fluid may not be ignored because it can enlarge the whole osteonal fluid pressure field,and it bears the external loads together with the solid skeleton.(ii) The increase of both axial strain amplitude and frequency can result in the increase of fluid pressure and velocity amplitudes,while in case II,the frequency has little effect on the fluid pressure amplitude.(iii) Under the same loading conditions,the pressure amplitude in case II is larger than that in case I,while the velocity amplitude is smaller than that in case I.This model permits the linking of the external loads to the osteonal fluid pressure and velocity,which may be a stimulus to the mechanotransduction of bone remodeling signals.WU XiaoGang CHEN WeiYi GAO ZhiPeng GUO HongMei WANG LiLi 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,9:7
6Super enhancer inhibitors suppress MYC driven transcriptional amplification and tumor progression in osteosarcoma显示文摘Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone sarcoma that mostly occurs in young adults. The causes of osteosarcoma are heterogeneous and still not fully understood. Identification of novel, important oncogenic factors in osteosarcoma and development of better, effective therapeutic approaches are in urgent need for better treatment of osteosarcoma patients. In this study, we uncovered that the oncogene MYC is significantly upregulated in metastastic osteosarcoma samples. In addition, high MYC expression is associated with poor survival of osteosarcoma patients. Analysis of MYC targets in osteosarcoma revealed that most of the osteosarcoma super enhancer genes are bound by MYC. Treatment of osteosarcoma cells with super enhancer inhibitors THZ1 and JQ1 effectively suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells. Mechanistically,THZ1 treatment suppresses a large group of super enhancer containing MYC target genes including CDK6 and TGFB2. 7Microstructure and properties of novel Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloy conductors processed by die casting,hot extrusion and cold drawing显示文摘In order to overcome the trade-off between the strength and electrical conductivity of aluminum alloy conductors,the new Al-Ce-Sc,Al-Ce-Y,Al-Ce-Zr and Al-Ce-Sc-Y alloys were prepared by die casting,high temperature homogenization treatment,hot extrusion and cold drawing.Adding Sc and Y eliminated the dendrite segregation of the as-cast Al-0.2 Ce alloy and promoted the formation of equiaxed grains with the average grain size of 142.5μm.The Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy inherited the great tensile properties of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy and the high electrical conductivity of Al-0.2 Ce-0.1 Y alloy simultaneously.After cold drawing and annealing at 200℃for 5 h,the ultimate tensile strength of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy reached 200 MPa and 198 MPa,the elongation reached 6.8%and 8.5%,and the electrical conductivity reached 61.01%and 61.77%,respectively.The main second phase of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy after hot extrusion were Al_(13)Fe_3 Ce containing a few Y and Si atoms.The larger size and proportion of the second phase greatly reduced the concentration of solute Fe and Si atoms and the addition of Y significantly decreased the density of defects after cold drawing compared to Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,which improved electrical conductivity of the alloy.Furthermore,the dispersed and coherent nano-size Al_3 Sc precipitions of Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy greatly improved strength,elongation and heat resistance.Compared with Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc alloy,the lower density of dislocation,stacking fault and subgrain boundary and the larger size of Al_3 Sc precipitions with enrichment of Y atoms enable the Al-0.2 Ce-0.2 Sc-0.1 Y alloy to maintain high strength,elongation and electrical conductivity after annealing.Weiyi Wang Qinglin Pan Geng Lin Xiaoping Wang Yuqiao Sun Xiangdong Wang Ji Ye Yuanwei Sun Yi Yu Fuqing Jiang Jun Li Yaru Liu 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,58,23:4
8Simulation of Centennial-Scale Drought Events over Eastern China during the Past 1500 Years显示文摘The characteristics and causes of centennial-scale drought events over eastern China during the past 1500 years were explored based on simulations of the Community Earth System Model(CESM). The results show that centennial-scale drought events over eastern China occurred during the periods of 622–735(Drought period 1, D1) and 1420–1516(Drought period 2,D2) over the past 1500 years, which is comparable with climate proxy data. In D1, the drought center occurred in northern China and the Yangtze River valley; however, in southern China, precipitation was much more than usual. In D2, decreased precipitation was found across almost the whole region of eastern China. The direct cause of these two drought events was the weakened East Asian summer monsoon, and the specific process was closely linked to the air–sea interaction of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. In D1, regions of maximum cooling were observed over the western Pacific, which may have led to anomalous subsidence, weakening the Walker circulation, and reducing the northward transport of water vapor. Additionally, upward motion occurred over southern China, strengthening convection and increasing precipitation. In D2, owing to the decrease in the SST, subsidence dominated the North Indian Ocean, blocking the low-level cross-equatorial flow, enhancing the tropical westerly anomalies, and reducing the northward transport of moisture. Additionally, descending motion appeared in eastern China, subsequently decreasing the precipitation over the whole region of eastern China. 10Responses to climate warming of hydrological processes in the upper Kelan River in the Altay Mountains, Xinjiang, China显示文摘Kelan River is a branch of the Ertix River, originating in the Altay Mountains in Xinjiang, northwestern China. The upper streams of the Kelan River are located on the southern slope of the Altay Mountains; they arise from small glacial lakes at an elevation of more than 2,500 m. The total water-collection area of the studied basin, from 988 to 3,480 m, is about 1,655 km2. Almost 95 percent of the basin area is covered with snow in winter. The westerly air masses deplete nearly all the moisture that comes in the form of snow during the winter months in the upper and middle reaches of the basin. That annual flow from the basin is about 382 mm, about 45 percent of which is contributed by snowmelt. The mean annual precipitation in the basin is about 620 mm, which is primarily concentrated in the upper and middle basin. The Kelan River system could be vulnerable to climate change because of substantial contribution from snowmelt runoff. The hydrological system could be altered significantly because of a warming of the climate. The impact of climate change on the hydrological cycle and events would pose an additional threat to the Altay region. The Kelan River, a typical snow-dominated watershed, has more area at higher elevations and accumulates snow during the winter. The peak flow occurs as a result of snow-melting during the late spring or early summer. Stream flow varies strongly throughout the year because of seasonal cycles of precipitation, snowpack, temperature, and groundwater. Changes in the temperature and precipitation affect the timing and volume of stream-flow. The stream-flow consists of contributions from meltwater of snow and ice and from runoff of rainfall. Therefore, it has low flow in winter, high flow during the spring and early summer as the snowpack melts, and less flows during the late summer. Because of the warming of the current climate change, hydrology processes of the Kelan River have undergone marked changes, as evidenced by the shift of the maximum flood peak discharge from May to June; the largest monthly runoffs also have an increment of about 15 percent related to before 1980; April-June runoff increased from the 60 percent of the annual runoff before 1980 to nearly 70 percent after 1990. The long-term trend shows temperature and precipitation increased mainly in the winter, but the rainfall declined in summer; hydrological process is manifested by the rising runoff in May and decreasing in June. Warming and the increase of winter and spring snowcover would lead to increased snowmelt, increasing the spring-flood hazards and the maximum flood discharge with disastrous consequences. 11Trends and abrupt changes in surface vapor content over Tarim Basin during the last 50 years显示文摘The surface vapor content has a close correlation with the generation of precipitation. Based on the atmospheric circulation data and surface vapor content data from 37 weather stations across the Tarim Basin during 1961 2010, the paper analyzed the vapor variation trend, period, abrupt changes and their causes. The results show that the increase trend of surface vapor content over the Tarim Basin mostly conforms with the average trend coefficient of 0.48. There were 3 centers displaying a trend of high vapor increase and 3 centers displaying a low vapor increase. These centers were distributed in strips and blocks across the basin from northeast to southwest. Notable inter-decadal variations in annual and seasonal vapor contents occurred in the Tarim Basin during the 50 years of the study period, with more vapor after the mid-1980s and less vapor in the 1960s and the 1970s. The significant increase in vapor content in the 50 year period occurred mostly in the 1980s and the 1990s. The increasing trend across the four seasons was strongest in summer, reaching 0.43, and weakest in spring. Great variations existed between the spring trend and the annual, summer, autumn and winter trends. During the 50-year study period, there are distinguishable periods of 4-6 years and 8-10 years in which the annual and seasonal vapor contents varied alternately between low and high concentrations. The annual vapor content and that of the four individual seasons all changed abruptly in about the mid-1980s (α<0.05). 13Roof filling control technology and application to mine roadway damage in small pit goaf显示文摘To recover coal resources that have been damaged by traditional mining methods and ensure stability of the lower roadway in a small pit goaf,the goaf area must be filled and reinforced.In this research,the 1202 working face of the Hanzui mine is considered as an example for classifying the roof of the mining tunnel under the small kiln destruction zone,the effect of the goaf on the roadway is determined based on the radio tunnel penetration method,a mechanical model to determine the roof filling control mechanism was established,and the duct foaming system and roof filling process were designed.The results show that the scope and degree of influence of the goaf on the mining lane are large,but safe tunneling can be ensured through the use of a steel shed and advanced grouting techniques.When the roof conditions are not similar,materials with different filling heights and filling strengths can be used to control the roof filling of the roadway.By combining field experience and laboratory tests,it was determined that a high-foaming material with a water-cement ratio of 1:0.6,a suitable high-foaming additive,and a water volume ratio of 1:30 is cost-efficient for filling and meets the filling strength requirements.Finally,the reliability of the proposed technology was verified by field experiments,which provide a reference for filling operations in similar mines.Weiyi Cai Zechao Chang Dongsheng Zhang Xufeng Wang Wenhao Cao Yazhou Zhou 2019International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,3:2
14Heat transfer and flow characteristics in a channel with one corrugated wall显示文摘The present study numerically investigates the characteristics of three-dimensional turbulent flow and heat transfer in the channel with one corrugated wall heated with constant temperature by means of large eddy simulation.The corrugated wall is sinusoidal in the streamwise and spanwise directions.The Reynolds number in terms of bulk velocity and channel half-height is fixed at 2800 and the wave amplitude to wavelength ratio is varied in the rangeα/λ=0.01,0.02,0.04 in the streamwise direction andα/λ=0.01,0.02,0.04 in the spanwise direction.The results show that flow separation bubbles appear and near-wall streamwise vortices are generated with larger population in the upslope region of the bottom wall as wave amplitude increases.Compared with flat wall,the corrugated geometry increases the pressure coefficient and decreases the friction coefficient on the corrugated wall,and consequently increases the total drag coefficient owing to the increase of pressure coefficient,as expected,the heat transfer is higher.The waves in the spanwise direction converge the vortices into the trough along the streamwise direction and push them away from the bottom wall.Finally,thermal performance factor is defined and the effects of wave amplitude on the thermal performance are scrutinized.GAO XiaoMing LI WeiYi WANG JianSheng 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,11:2
15Multi-scale mechanotransduction of the poroelastic signals from osteon to osteocyte in bone tissue显示文摘In order to quantify the poroelastic mechanical signals conduction and evaluate the biomechanical effectiveness of functional units(osteocyte processes,canaliculi and lacuna)in lacunar-canalicular system(LCS),a multiscale poroelastic finite element model was established by using the Comsol Multiphysics software.The poroelastic mechanical signals(pore pressure,fluid velocity,von-Mises stress,strain)were analyzed inside the osteon-osteocyte system.The effects of osteocyte(OCY)’s shape(ellipse and circle),long axis directions(horizontal and vertical)and mechanical properties(Elastic modulus and permeability)on its poroelastic responses were examined.It is found that the OCY processes is the best mechanosensor compared with the OCY body,lacunae and canaliculi.The mechanotransduction ability of the elliptic shaped OCY is stronger than that of circular shaped.The pore pressure and flow velocity around OCYs increase as the elastic modulus and permeability of OCY increase.The established model can be used for studying the mechanism of bone mechanotransduction at the multiscale level.Xiaogang Wu Chaoxin Li Kuijun Chen Yuqin Sun Weilun Yu Meizhen Zhang Yanqin Wang Yixian Qin Weiyi Chen 2020Acta Mechanica Sinica2020,36,4:2
16Asymmetries of Positive Feedback Trading in Individual Stocks:Evidences from China显示文摘The paper investigates the positive feedback trading phenomenon of individual stocks in China’s stock market.Heterogeneous regression models and a non-parametric Sentana-Wadhwani model are developed and applied to prove the existence of rise-favor asymmetric feedback trading.This result is consistent with the reality of China’s stock market,that is,the herding behavior of irrational retail investors has a significant influence on the market.However,the result is in contrast with the stylized findings using market indices.Further empirical research shows that this distinction could be explained by the average effect of indices.The asymmetries of positive feedback trading caused by heterogeneous feedback trading and the uneven distributed retail trading in individual stocks,are covered by the weighted average effect in indices.Therefore,the indices exhibit a different asymmetric pattern from that of individual stocks.Die Wan Weiyi Liu Junbo Wang Xiaoguang Yang 2016Journal of Management Science and Engineering2016,1,1:2

19Genomic Variations in the Tea Leafhopper Reveal the Basis of Its Adaptive Evolution显示文摘Tea green leafhopper(TGL),Empoasca onukii,is of biological and economic interest.Despite numerous studies,the mechanisms underlying its adaptation and evolution remain enigmatic.Here,we use previously untapped genome and population genetics approaches to examine how the pest adapted to different environmental variables and thus has expanded geographically.We complete a chromosome-level assembly and annotation of the E.onukii genome,showing notable expansions of gene families associated with adaptation to chemoreception and detoxification.Genomic signals indicating balancing selection highlight metabolic pathways involved in adaptation to a wide range of tea varieties grown across ecologically diverse regions.Patterns of genetic variations among 54 E.onukii samples unveil the population structure and evolutionary history across different tea-growing regions in China.Our results demonstrate that the genomic changes in key pathways,including those linked to metabolism,circadian rhythms,and immune system functions,may underlie the successful spread and adaptation of E.onukii.This work highlights the genetic and molecular basis underlying the evolutionary success of a species with broad economic impacts,and provides insights into insect adaptation to host plants,which will ultimately facilitate more sustainable pest management.Qian Zhao Longqing Shi Weiyi He Jinyu Li Shijun You Shuai Chen Jing Lin Yibin Wang Liwen Zhang Guang Yang Liette Vasseur Minsheng You 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,6:1
