| 1 | ZIKA virus isolated from mosquitoes:a field and laboratory investigation in China,2016显示文摘A field investigation of arboviruses was conducted in Dejiang, Guizhou Province in the summer of 2016. A total of 8,795 mosquitoes, belonging to four species of three genera, and 1,300 midges were collected. The mosquito samples were identified on site according to their morphology, and the pooled samples were ground and centrifuged in the laboratory. The supernatant was incubated with mosquito tissue culture cells(C6/36) and mammalian cells(BHK-21) for virus isolation. The results indicated that 40%(3,540/8,795) were Anopheles sinensis, 30%(2,700/8,795) were Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus, and 29%(2,530/8,795)were Armigeres subbalbeatus. Furthermore, a total of eight virus isolates were obtained, and genome sequencing revealed two Zika viruses(ZIKVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Armigeres subbalbeatus, respectively; three Japanese encephalitis viruses(JEVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus; two Banna viruses(BAVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Anopheles sinensis, respectively; and one densovirus(DNV) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus.The ZIKVs isolated from the Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Armigeres subbalbeatus mosquitoes represent the first ZIKV isolates in China's Mainland. | 3 | Nondestructive determination of nutritional information in oilseed rape leaves using visible/near infrared spectroscopy and multivariate calibrations显示文摘Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content are the three most important nutritional parameters for growing oilseed rape. We investigated visible and near infrared (Vis/NIR) spectroscopy combined with chemometrics for the fast and nondestructive determination of nutritional information in oilseed rape leaves. A total of 154 leaf samples were collected, with 104 randomly selected as the calibration set, and the remaining 50 samples used as the validation set. The performance of eight different preprocessing methods was compared in partial least squares (PLS) models. Some effective wavelengths selected by a successive projections algorithm (SPA) were also used to develop linear SPA-PLS, nonlinear back propagation neural network (BPNN), and nonlinear least squares-support vector machine (LS-SVM) models to determine nutritional information. The best prediction models were DOSC-PLS for nitrogen with r=0.9743 and RMSEP=0.1459, DOSC-SPA-BPNN for phosphorus with r=0.7054 and RMSEP=0.0594, and DOSC-SPA-BPNN for potassium with r=0.9380 and RMSEP=0.1788. The prediction precision for nitrogen and potassium determinations was acceptable for further practical applications, whereas further studies are needed to improve the prediction precision for phosphorus. The results indicated that Vis/NIR spectroscopy is feasible for nondestructive determination of nutritional information in oilseed rape leaves. | 4 | Genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of Banna virus(genus Seadornavirus,family Reoviridae)isolated from Culicoides显示文摘In an investigation of blood-sucking insects and arboviruses, a virus(YN12243) was isolated from Culicoides samples collected in the Sino-Burmese border region of Yunnan Province, China. The virus caused cytopathic effect(CPE) in C6/36 cells and passaged stably. Polyacrylamide gel analysis showed that the genome of YN12243 was composed of 12 segments of double-stranded RNA(dsRNA), with a distribution pattern of 6-6. The nucleotide and amino acid sequences of the coding region(1.12 segments) were17,803 bp and 5,925 amino acids in length, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis of VP1 protein(RdRp) revealed that YN12243 belonged to genus Seadornavirus of family Reoviridae, and further analysis indicated that YN12243 belongs to the Banna virus(BAV) genotype A2. Additionally, YN12243 was located in the same evolutionary cluster as BAV strains isolated from different mosquito species, suggesting that the BAV isolated from Culicoides does not have species barriers. These results indicate that Culicoides can also be a vector for BAV. | 5 | Pigsties near dwellings as a potential risk factor for the prevalence of Japanese encephalitis virus in adult in Shanxi,China显示文摘Background:The increasing trend of adult cases of Japanese encephalitis(JE)in China,particularly in northern China,has become an important public health issue.We conducted an epidemiological investigation in the south of Shanxi Province to examine the relationships between mosquitoes,Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV),and adult JE cases.Methods:Mosquito specimens were collected from the courtyards of farmers’households and pig farms in Shanxi Province.Mosquitoes were pooled,homogenized,and centrifuged.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)was used to detect mosquito-borne arbovirus genes in homogenates.Specimens positive for these genes were inoculated into the baby hamster kidney cell line(BHK-21)to isolate virus.Minimum infection rate was calculated and phylogenetic analyses were performed.Results:A total of 7943 mosquitoes belonging to six species in four genera were collected;Culex tritaeniorhynchus accounted for 73.08%(5805/7943),C.pipiens pallens for 24.75%(1966/7943),and the remaining 3%(104/7943)consisted of Anopheles sinensis,Aedes vexans,Ae.dorsalis,and Armigeres subalbatus.Sixteen pools were positive for JEV based on RT-PCR using JEV pre-membrane gene nested primers.Phylogenetic analyses showed that all JEVs belonged to genotype I;two pools were positive using Getah Virus(GETV)gene primers.In addition,one JEV strain(SXYC1523)was isolated from C.pipiens pallens specimens.These results indicate that the minimum infection rate of JEV in mosquito specimens collected from the courtyards of farmers’households with pigsties was 7.39/1000;the rate for pig farms was 2.68/1000;and the rate for farmers’courtyards without pigsties was zero.Conclusions:The high-prevalence regions of adult JE investigated in this study are still the natural epidemic focus of JEV.Having pigsties near dwellings is a potential risk factor contributing to the prevalence of adult JE.To prevent the occurrence of local adult JE cases,a recommendation was raised that,besides continuing to implement the Expanded Program on Immunization for children,the government should urge local farmers to cease raising pigs in their own courtyards to reduce the probability of infection with JEV. | Xiaojie Ren Shihong Fu Peifang Dai Huanyu Wang Yuanyuan Li Xiaolong Li Wenwen Lei Xiaoyan Gao Ying He Zhi Lv Jingxia Cheng Guiqin Wang Guodong Liang | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1: | 6 |

| 12 | Choroidal thickness and choriocapillaris vascular density in myopic anisometropia显示文摘Background:This study aims to examine interocular differences in the choroidal thickness and vascular density of the choriocapillaris in anisometropic myopes and to further explore the relationship between choroidal blood flow and myopia.Methods:The sample comprised 44 participants with anisometropic myopia,aged 9 to 18 years,with normal bestcorrected visual acuity.All participants underwent a series of examinations,including spherical equivalent refraction(SER)and axial length(AL),measured by a Lenstar optical biometer and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)scanner.OCT measured the choroidal thickness,vascular density,and flow voids of the choriocapillaris,and a customized algorithm was implemented in MATLAB R2017a with the post-correction of AL.The choroidal thickness was measured at the fovea and 0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5,and 3.0 mm nasally,temporally,inferiorly,and superiorly to the fovea.The vascular density and the flow voids of the choriocapillaris were measured at a 0.6-mm-diameter central circle,and the 0.6-2.5 mm diameter circle in the nasal,temporal,inferior,and superior regions.Repeated-measured ANOVAs were used to analyze the interocular differences.Partial correlations with the K value and age adjustments were used to study the relationships between the choroidal thickness,the choriocapillaris vascular density and flow voids,the SER and AL.Results:The choroidal thickness of the more myopic eyes was significantly thinner than less myopic eyes(P≤0.001),and the flow voids in the more myopic eyes were more than less myopic eyes(P=0.002).There was no significant difference in the vascular density of the choriocapillaris between the more and less myopic eyes(P=0.525).However,when anisometropia was more than 1.50 D,the vascular density of choriocapillaris in the more myopic eyes was significantly less than the less myopic eyes(P=0.026).The interocular difference of the choroidal thickness was significantly correlated with the interocular difference in SER and AL in the center,superior,and inferior regions but not in the nasal or temporal regions.The interocular differences of the vascular density and the flow voids of the choriocapillaris were not correlated with the interocular difference of SER and AL.Conclusions:The choroidal thickness is thinner in the more myopic eyes.The flow void is increased,and the vascular density of the choriocapillaris is reduced in the more myopic eyes of children with anisometropia exceeding 1.50 D. | Xinting Liu Zhiyi Lin Feifu Wang Xiaoyi Peng Wenwen He Dan Chen Meixiao Shen Fan Lu Jun Jiang | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 3 |
| 13 | Landslides Triggered by the 2020 Qiaojia M_(w)5.1 Earthquake, Yunnan, China: Distribution, Influence Factors and Tectonic Significance显示文摘On May 18, 2020, an M_(w)5.1 earthquake occurred in Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province, China. This moderate-sized event triggered massive coseismic landslides, resulting in some damage. In this work, through visual interpretation of high-resolution(0.8–2 m) Gaofen satellite images before and after the earthquake, 167 landslides were delineated, 18 of which were inspected in the field. Using the landslide number density(LND) and landslide area percentage(LAP), we characterized the spatial distribution of these landslides, and analyzed their possible influence factors and tectonic significance. The results show that these landslides are distributed mostly in the NW-SE direction, roughly parallel to the long axis of seismic intensity zones and the strike of the Xiaohe-Baogunao fault(XBF). The LND and LAP decrease with increasing distances to the fault and from the epicenter to fault ends of the XBF. These permit to suggest that the seismogenic fault of the Qiaojia earthquake is likely a hidden branch of the XBF. All of the landslides induced by this event occurred in the region with the seismic intensity of six degrees or greater of the 2014 M_(w)6.2 Ludian earthquake. | 16 | Lens thickness and associated ocular biometric factors among cataract patients in Shanghai显示文摘Background:To evaluate the distribution of lens thickness(LT)and its associations with other ocular biometric factors among cataract patients in Shanghai.Methods:Twenty-four thousand thirteen eyes from 24,013 cataract patients were retrospectively included.Ocular biometric factors including LT,central corneal thickness(CCT),anterior chamber depth(ACD),white-to-white(WTW)distance,anterior corneal curvature,and axial length(AL)were obtained using the IOLMaster700.The associations between LT and general or ocular factors were assessed.Results:The mean age was 62.5±13.6 years and 56.1%were female.The mean LT was 4.51±0.46 mm.The LT was greater in older patients(P<0.001).LT was positively correlated with CCT,while negatively correlated with ACD,WTW,and anterior corneal curvature(P<0.001).Multivariate analysis revealed that increased LT was associated with older age,male gender,thicker CCT,shallower ACD,larger WTW,and flatter anterior corneal curvature(P<0.001).LT changed with a variable behavior according to AL.In short eyes LT increased as AL increased,then decreased with longer AL in normal eyes and moderate myopic eyes,but increased again as AL increased in highly myopic eyes.Thickest LT was found in the 20.01-22mm AL group.The correlation between LT and other biometric factors remained significant when stratified by ALs.Conclusions:In a large Chinese cataractous population,we found that the thicker lens may be associated with older age,male gender,thicker CCT,shallower ACD,larger WTW,and flatter anterior corneal curvature.As AL increased,the change of LT was nonlinear,with the thickest lens seen in the 20-22mm AL group. | Jiaqi Meng Ling Wei Wenwen He Jiao Qi Yi Lu Xiangjia Zhu | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 2 |
| 17 | FXYD3 enhances IL-17A signaling to promote psoriasis by competitively binding TRAF3 in keratinocytes显示文摘Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by inflammatory cell infiltration and epidermal hyperplasia.However,the regulatory complexity of cytokine and cellular networks still needs to be investigated.Here,we show that the expression of FXYD3,a member of the FXYD domain-containing regulators of Na+/K+ATPases family,is significantly increased in the lesional skin of psoriasis patients and mice with imiquimod(IMQ)-induced psoriasis.IL-17A,a cytokine important for the development of psoriatic lesions,contributes to FXYD3 expression in human primary keratinocytes.FXYD3 deletion in keratinocytes attenuated the psoriasis-like phenotype and inflammation in an IMQ-induced psoriasis model.Importantly,FXYD3 promotes the formation of the IL-17R-ACT1 complex by competing with IL-17R for binding to TRAF3 and then enhances IL-17A signaling in keratinocytes.This promotes the activation of the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways and leads to the expression of proinflammatory factors.Our results clarify the mechanism by which FXYD3 serves as a mediator of IL-17A signaling in keratinocytes to form a positive regulatory loop to promote psoriasis exacerbation.Targeting FXYD3 may serve as a potential therapeutic approach in the treatment of psoriasis. | Wenjuan Yang Rukun He Hao Qu Wenwen Lian Yue Xue Tao Wang Wenlong Lin Peishuo Zhu Meng Xia Lihua Lai Qingqing Wang | 2023 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,3: | 2 |
