| 1 | Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices. | Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng | 2016 | Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1: | 36 |
| 2 | Analysis and Numerical Simulation of Rolling Contact between Sphere and Cone显示文摘In non-conforming rolling contact, the contact stress is highly concentrated in the contact area. However, there are some limitations of the special contact model and stress model used for the theoretical study of the phenomenon, and this has prevented in-depth analysis of the associated friction, wear, and failure. This paper is particularly aimed at investigating the area of rolling contact between a sphere and a cone, for which purpose the boundary is determined by the Hertz theory and the geometries of the non-conforming surfaces. The phenomenon of stick-slip contact is observed to occur in the contact area under the condition of no-full-slip(Q < μ·P). Using the two-dimensional rolling contact theory developed by CARTER, the relative positions of the stick and slip regions and the distribution of the tangential force over the contact area are analyzed. Furthermore, each stress component is calculated based on the Mc Ewen theory and the idea of narrow band. The stress equations for the three-dimensional rolling contact between the sphere and the cone are obtained by the principle of superposition, and are used to perform some numerical simulations. The results show that the stress components have a large gradient along the boundary between the stick and slip regions, and that the maximum stress is inversely proportional to the contact coefficient and proportional to the friction coefficient. | 5 | Acupoint Catgut Embedding Alleviates Insomnia in Different Chinese Medicine Syndrome Types: A Randomized Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective: To investigate the effects and safety of catgut embedding on alleviating insomnia. Methods: Totally 510 patients with insomnia were divided into 5 Chinese medicine(CM) syndrome types: Xin(Heart) and Pi(Spleen) deficiency, yin deficiency with excess fire, Xin and gut qi deficiency, Wei(Stomach) disorder, and qi and blood deficiency, respectively. These 5 types of patients were randomly assigned to a catgut embedding group, an acupuncture group or a medication group(30 cases in Xin and Pi deficiency type, Wei disorder type, Xin and gut qi deficiency type, respectively;40 cases in yin deficiency with excess fire type and qi and blood deficiency type, respectively). In the catgut embedding group, patients were treated by implanting catgut into acupoints once every 10 days for a total of 30 days. In the acupuncture group, patients were treated with acupuncture once per day over 30 days(excluding weekends);and patients in the medication group took 1 mg Eurodin Tablet orally every night for 30 days. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) was evaluated before treatment, on 30 and 60 days after the first treatment, respectively. The International Unified Sleep Efficiency Value(IUSEV) was measured at 30 and 60 days. The safety was evaluated after treatment and adverse events were analyzed. Results: The objective PSQI scores including subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, habitual sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, daytime dysfunction, and total scores at 30 days were significantly improved compared with pre-treatment in the catgut embedding and acupuncture groups(P<0.01 or P<0.05). At 30 days, the PSQI scores in catgut embedding group were superior to the medication group in the patients with each type of insomnia, with the exception of sleep duration(P<0.01 or P<0.05). At 60 days, significant differences were found between the catgut embedding group and the medication group(P<0.01 for all indices). The IUSEV scores in the catgut embedding group were significantly higher than the acupuncture group at 60 days, and the scores in acupuncture group were higher than the medication group at 30 days(P<0.05 for all types). No severe adverse events were found in this study. Conclusions: Acupoint catgut embedding and acupuncture were more effective than medication in alleviating insomnia syndrome in different Chinese medicine syndrome type. | 7 | H2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines:protective efficacy in a hepatitis A outbreak显示文摘AIM To investigate the protective efficacy ofH2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines(H2-strain vaccines)in hepatitis A(HA)outbreaks.METHODS With the permission of theirparents,5551 pre-school and grade 1-3 primaryschool children were inoculated with 1 dose(106.5TCID50)of H2-strain vaccines in anonrandomized,controlled trial conducted inFucheng County,Hebei Province in May 1997.Another 6485 children in the same grades andcompatible in gender and age were enrolled ascontrols.Epidemiological and serological surveywas conducted to evaluate the protectiveefficacy of the vaccines.ELISA was used todetect serum IgM anti-HAV.RESULTS HA outbreak started in early May1998,peaked in the middle of the same month,and lasted about 80 days.Overall 302 HA caseswere found,192(53.58%)were 5-9 years old.One vaccinee and 25 control cases were found tohave hepatitis A,which account for 0.28%(1/356)and 5.92%(25/422)of all vaccinees andcontrols in the 14 villages,respectively.The protective efficacy of vaccines was 95.27%(95% Cl:85.83%-104.72%).In subjects testedfor anti-HAV IgM from 13 villages,1(0.40%)overt and 11(4.06%)asymptomatic HAV caseswere found in 271 vaccinees,but 21(6.69%)ofovert and asymptomatic ones were found in 314controls.CONCLUSION H2 strain vaccines were excellent in preventing overt hepatitis A, but not so effective in preventing asymptomatic hepatitis A virus infection. | 8 | Development and Preliminary Evaluation of a Double-cell Ozonesonde显示文摘Ozonesondes are widely used to obtain ozone concentration profiles from the surface to the upper atmosphere. A kind of double-cell ozonesonde has been developed at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics(IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences(named the 'IAP ozonesonde') based on previous experience over the past 20 years of developing the singlecell GPSO3 ozonesonde. The IAP ozonesonde is of the Electrochemical Concentration Cell(ECC) type. A detailed description of the IAP ozonesonde is firstly provided in the present paper, followed by a presentation of results from a series of launches carried out to evaluate its performance. The analysis involved comparing its observations with measurements from the GPSO3 and ECC ozonesondes(Model type ENSCI-Z) as well as a Brewer spectrophotometer. The results showed that the IAP ozonesonde is a vast improvement over the GPSO3 ozonesonde, able to capture vertical ozone structures very well and in good agreement with ECC ozonesonde measurements. The average difference in the ozone partial pressure between the IAP and ECC ozonesondes was 0.3 mPa from the surface to 2.5 km, close to zero from 2.5 to 9 km and generally less than 1 mPa for layers higher than 9 km. The apparent deviation is likely caused by a decreasing pump flow rate in the IAP ozonesonde which needs further improvement. The total ozone amounts measured by the IAP ozonesonde profiles were highly comparable with the Brewer data with a relative difference of 6%. | 9 | Characteristics and environmental significance of Ca, Mg, and Sr in the soil infiltrating water overlying the Furong Cave,Chongqing, China显示文摘This paper explores the influence of the local meteoric conditions,the overlying soil on the concentrations of Ca,Mg,and Sr,and the ratios of Mg/Ca,Sr/Ca,and Mg/Sr in soil infiltrating water(SIW).An in situ monitoring program was carried out above the Furong Cave throughout 2010 to collect data on SIW,monthly temperature and rainfall,and the geochemical composition and granularity of soils.The discharge of SIW responded quickly to the local rainfall,and its residence time was the primary factor affecting the Ca,Mg,and Sr content of the SIW.The high concentrations of Ca,Mg,and Sr in the SIW during April should be attributed primarily to the prolonged residence of SIW in the soil during the local dry seasons of winter and early spring.The maximum Mg/Sr ratio also occurred in April.The ratio of Mg/Ca in SIW is positively correlated with prolonged residence time and with high temperatures,which do not strongly affect the ratio of Sr/Ca.The Mg/Ca ratio was lowest when the Sr/Ca ratio was highest because plant metabolism increased the absorption of Ca and Mg,but not Sr,and also because higher temperatures enhanced the dissolution of Mg more than that of Sr.These different responses of Mg and Sr to temperature increases resulted in high Mg/Sr ratios during July and August. | LI JunYun LI TingYong WANG JianLi XIANG XiaoJing CHEN YunXuan LI Xuan | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,12: | 6 |
| 10 | Real-time hyperspectral imaging for the in-field estimation of strawberry ripeness with deep learning显示文摘Strawberry is one of the popular fruits with numerous nutrients.The ripeness of this fruits was estimated using the hyperspectral imaging(HSI)system in field and laboratory conditions in this study.Strawberry at early ripe and ripe stageswere collected HSI data,coveredwavelength ranges from370 to 1015 nm.Spectral featurewavelengths were selected using the sequential feature selection(SFS)algorithm.Two wavelengths selected for field(530 and 604 nm)and laboratory(528 and 715 nm)samples,respectively.Then,reliability of such spectral featureswas validated based on support vectormachine(SVM)classifier.Performance of SVMclassification models had good resultswith receiver operating characteristic values for samples under both field and laboratory conditions higher than 0.95.Meanwhile,the spatial feature images were extracted from the spectral feature wavelength and the first three principal components for laboratory samples.Pretrained AlexNet convolutional neural network(CNN)was used to classify the early ripe and ripe strawberry samples,which obtained the accuracy of 98.6%for test dataset.The above results indicated real-time HSI system was promising for estimating strawberry ripeness under field and laboratory conditions,which could be a potential application technique for evaluating the harvesting time management for farmers and producers. | Zongmei Gao Yuanyuan Shao Guantao Xuan Yongxian Wang Yi Liu Xiang Han | 2020 | Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture2020,,1: | 6 |
| 11 | Ordovician integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘In this chapter, starting with a brief review of the research history and current status in the studies of the Ordovician chronostratigraphy in China, the subdivision of the Ordovician System, definition and recognition of its series and stage boundaries, and possible stratigraphic gaps are discussed in details in order to establish a multidisciplinary stratigraphic correlation through an integrated approach including lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, radiometric dating, chemostratigraphy and magnetostratigraphy. Being internationally accepted, the Ordovician System is now subdivided into three series and seven stages, in ascending order, Lower(Tremadocian, Floian), Middle(Dapingian, Darriwilian) and Upper series(Sandbian, Katian,Hirnantian). Three of the seven 'Golden Spikes' defining the bases of the Ordovician stages, which were established in 1997–2007, are located in China. As a regionally applied chronostratigraphy, the Ordovician System was subdivided in China into Lower(Xinchangian, Yiyangian), Middle(Dapingian, Darriwilian) and Upper series(Neichiashanian, Chientangkiangian,Hirnantian). This scheme agrees largely with the standard international classification, which can actually be directly applied to China, except for some special circumstances where the Neichiashanian and Chientangkiangian stages of the Upper Ordovician are used. Based on the new studies in recent years and distinctions and differences recognized in the development of the Ordovician System in the constituent terranes of China, a new framework for correlation among the major Chinese palaeoplates or terranes, e.g. South China, North China(including Tarim and Qaidam) and Xizang(Tibet)-western Yunnan, has been established. However, it has been recognized herein that uncertainties still remain on defining the base of the Tremadocian,Dapingian and Katian, and on the correlation between different mega-facies. More specifically, for the Tremadocian, the precise correlation of its base will depend on the better-defined conodont taxonomy, while for the Dapingian and Katian, on the correlation between different mega-facies. It is worthwhile to note that the chemostratigraphic studies of the Ordovician System in China produced the carbonate δ13 C curves for the Darriwilian(Middle Ordovician) and Katian(Upper Ordovician), which show significant differences from the composite global curve. Record of the Ordovician isotopic dating is relatively rare in China, with only three reliable ages from zircons that are all from the upper Katian to Hirnantian of the Upper Ordovician.Abundant bentonite beds in the Upper Ordovician of South China will also provide unique opportunities to advance the isotopic dating and related researches. Studies on the Ordovician magnetostratigraphy need to be significantly enhanced in China, as currently all the available results are restricted to the Lower Ordovician of North China, although they can be correlated with those known from other parts of the world. | 12 | Gradient-based Kriging approximate model and its application research to optimization design显示文摘In the process of multidisciplinary design optimization, there exits the calculation complexity problem due to frequently calling high fidelity system analysis models. The high fidelity system analysis models can be surrogated by approximate models. The sensitivity analysis and numerical noise filtering can be done easily by coupling approximate models to optimization. Approximate models can reduce the number of executions of the problem's simulation code during optimization, so the solution efficiency of the multidisciplinary design optimization problem can be improved. Most optimization methods are based on gradient. The gradients of the objective and constrain functions are gained easily. The gra- dient-based Kriging (GBK) approximate model can be constructed by using system response value and its gradients. The gradients can greatly improve prediction precision of system response. The hybrid optimization method is constructed by coupling GBK approximate models to gradient-based optimiza- tion methods. | 15 | Dietary fats suppress the peritoneal seeding of colorectal cancer cells through the TLR4/Cxcl10 axis in adipose tissue macrophages显示文摘Peritoneal carcinomatosis(PC)of colorectal cancer(CRC)is a terminal phase of malignancy with no effective strategies for the prevention of this condition.Here we established PC models in mice by intraperitoneal engraftment of CRC cells and revealed an unexpected role for a high-fat diet(HFD)in preventing metastatic seeding in the visceral fat.Mechanistically,the HFD stimulated the activation of adipose tissue macrophages(ATMs)toward an M1-like phenotype and enhanced ATM tumor phagocytosis in a TLR4-dependent manner.Furthermore,the TLR4–Cxcl10 axis in ATMs promoted T cell recruitment,and M1-like macrophages stimulated T cell activation in tumor-seeded fats.The inhibitory effect of the HFD on tumor seeding was abolished with the ablation of macrophages,inactivation of T cells,or blockade of the TLR4–Cxcl10 axis in macrophages.Finally,we showed that a HFD and conventional chemotherapeutic agents(oxaliplatin or 5-fluorouracil)synergistically improved the survival of tumor-seeded mice.Collectively,our findings demonstrate that peritoneal seeding of CRC can be suppressed by short-term treatment with a HFD in the early phase,providing a novel concept for the management of these patients in the clinic. | Wei Xiang Rongchen Shi Dapeng Zhang Xia Kang Lili Zhang Jing Yuan Xuan Zhang Hongming Miao | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 3 |
| 16 | The Agpat4/LPA axis in colorectal cancer cells regulates antitumor responses via p38/p65 signaling in macrophages显示文摘Lipid metabolic reprogramming plays an essential role in regulating the progression of colorectal cancer(CRC).However,the effect of lysophosphatidic acid(LPA)metabolism on CRC development is incompletely characterized.Here,we compared the mRNA levels of human CRC tissues to those of paracarcinoma tissues and focused on the notably enriched LPA metabolic pathways.We identified and verified that 1-acylglycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferase 4(Agpat4)was aberrantly expressed in CRC tissues and predicted poor survival in CRC patients.Manipulating Agpat4 expression in CRC cells did not affect the growth or migration of CRC cells in vitro,whereas Agpat4 silencing suppressed CRC cell growth in subcutaneous and peritoneal xenograft models.Mechanistically,Agpat4 silencing-induced LPA release from CRC cells and polarized macrophages to an M1-like phenotype through LPA receptors 1 and 3.This M1 activation,characterized by elevated p38/p65 signaling and increased proinflammatory cytokines,promoted the infiltration and activation of CD4+and CD8+T cells in the tumor microenvironment.Modulation of the Agpat4/LPA/p38/p65 axis regulated macrophage polarization,T-cell activity and CRC progression.Notably,combined therapy with LPA and regular chemotherapy drugs synergistically suppressed CRC development.Taken together,our results showed that the Agpat4/LPA axis in CRC cells regulated p38/p65 signaling-dependent macrophage polarization,T-cell activation,and CRC progression.The Agpat4/LPA/p38/p65 axis might represent a potential target for therapy in the clinic. | Dapeng Zhang Rongchen Shi Wei Xiang Xia Kang Bo Tang Chuan Li Linfeng Gao Xuan Zhang Lili Zhang Rongyang Dai Hongming Miao | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 3 |

| 18 | Genes in the serotonin pathway are associated with bipolar affective disorder in a Han Chinese population显示文摘Serotonin plays an important role in mood regulation, but the involvement of serotonin pathway genes in the development of bipolar I disorder (BP-I), a mood disorder, is not clear. We selected 21 singlenucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the HTR2A gene, 8 within the SLC6A4 gene and 23 within the TPH2 gene for genotyping using the GoldenGate genotyping assay. A total of 375 patients with BP-I and 475 normal controls were recruited. Two out of 21 SNPs (rs1475196 and rs9567747) in the HTR2A gene and 1/23 SNPs (rs17110566) in the TPH2 gene were significantly associated with BP-I, both genotype-wise and allele-wise. Furthermore, a specific haplotype in the HTR2A gene showed a significant association with BP-I.
