| 1 | The HuangZaoSi Maize Genome Provides Insights into Genomic Variation and Improvement History of Maize显示文摘Maize is a globally important crop that was a classic model plant for genetic studies. Here, we report a 2.2 Gb draft genome sequence of an elite maize line, HuangZaoSi (HZS). Hybrids bred from HZS-improved lines (HILs) are planted in more than 60% of maize fields in China. Proteome clustering of six completed sequeneed maize genomes show that 638 proteins fall into 264 HZS-specific gene families with the majority of contributions from tandem duplication events. Resequencing and comparative analysis of 40 HZSrelated lines reveals the breeding history of HILs. More than 60% of identified selective sweeps were clustered in identity.by.descent conserved regions, and yield-related genes/QTLs were enriched in HZS characteristic selected regions. Furthermore, we dem on strated that HZS-specific family genes were not uniformly distributed in the genome but enriched in improvement/function.related genomic regions. | 4 | High Throughput Sequencing of circRNAs in Tomato Leaves Responding to Multiple Stresses of Drought and Heat显示文摘Our aim is to study the roles of a new emerging group of non-coding RNAs, circRNAs, in tomato(Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants grown at the combination of drought and heat, two of the most usual stress conditions known to frequently happen in field. Tomato seedlings from cultivar‘Jinling Meiyu’ were treated without stresses(control), at water shortage, high temperature and subjected the multiple stresses. In total, 467 circRNAs were identified with 87.82% from exon using high throughput sequencing technology. Among the circRNAs, 70 were from chr1 with the range from 23 to 49 from the other chromosomes. In detail, 156 circRNAs were shared in the four libraries, while 21, 17 and 36 circRNAs were only shown in drought, heat and multiple stresses libraries, respectively. Through a differential expression analysis, four, seven and nine circRNAs were differentially regulated in tomato at drought, heat and multiple stresses as compared with control. | 5 | Digital Cancellation Scheme and Hardware Implementation for High-Order Passive Intermodulation Interference Based on Hammerstein Model显示文摘Passive intermodulation(PIM)interference urgently needs to be solved in the satellite communication system,owing to degrading the whole performance.Mainstream research contributions to the cancellation method for PIM were focused on the analog domain,however,the PIM distortion cannot be eliminated completely with the approaches.Meanwhile,some researchers attempt to tackle the problem through digital signal processing,nevertheless,the proposed methods were not suitable for the practical satellite communication scenario.In this paper,we present a general scheme for the adaptive feedforward PIM cancellation.High-order PIM signals at baseband are estimated by modeling the PIM distortion with Hammerstein model in the digital domain.Based on the reconstructed PIM signal,we adopt the least mean square algorithm to adaptively mitigate the PIM interference for tracking the variation of PIM.The time and frequency synchronization of PIM are based on the correlation of the peak of received signals with the corresponding reconstructed PIM signal.Practical experimental results show that the scheme can effectively cancel the PIM interference,and achieve an interference suppression gain more than 20dB. | Xiaqing Miao Lu Tian | 2019 | China Communications2019,16,9: | 5 |
| 6 | Ionic liquid crystal-based electrolyte with enhanced charge transport for dye-sensitized solar cells显示文摘A room temperature ionic liquid crystal,1-dodecyl-3-ethylimidazolium iodide(C12EImI),and an ionic liquid,1-decyl-3-ethylimidazolium iodide(C10EImI),have been synthesized,characterized and employed as the electrolyte for dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSC).The physicochemical properties show that a smectic A(SmA)phase with a lamellar structure is formed in C12EImI.Both C12EImI and C10EImI have good electrochemical and thermal stability facilitating their use in DSSC.The steady-state voltammograms reveal that the diffusion coefficient of I3–in C12EImI is larger than that in C10EImI,which is attributed to the existence of the SmA phase in C12EImI.Because the iodide species are located between the layers of imidazolium cations in C12EImI,exchange reaction-based diffusion is increased with a consequent increase in,the overall diffusion.The electrochemical impedance spectrum reveals that charge recombination at the dyed TiO2/electrolyte interface of a C12EImI-based DSSC is reduced due to the increase in I3–diffusion,resulting in higher open-circuit voltage.Moreover,both short-circuit current density and fill factor of the C12EImI based DSSC increase,as a result of the increasing transport of I3–in C12EImI.Consequently,the photoelectric conversion efficiency of C12EImI-based DSSC is higher than that of the C10EImI–based DSSC. | PAN Xu WANG Meng FANG XiaQing ZHANG ChangNeng HUO ZhiPeng DAI SongYuan | 2013 | Science China Chemistry2013,56,10: | 4 |
| 7 | Identification of a locus associated with genic male sterility in maize via EMS mutagenesis and bulked-segregant RNA-seq显示文摘Genic male sterility(GMS) is one of the most important resources for exploiting heterosis in crop breeding, so that identifying genomic loci regulating GMS is desirable. However, many regulatory genes controlling GMS have not yet been characterized in maize, owing partly to a lack of genetic materials. We generated a recessive male-sterile maize mutant in the Jing 724 genetic background via ethyl methanesulfonate treatment, and found the male sterility to be due to a single gene mutation. Bulk-segregant RNA sequencing of three replicates indicated that one genomic region located at the end of chromosome 4 was associated with the observed mutant phenotype. Among genes with nonsynonymous mutations,Zm00001 d053895(bHLH51) showed abolished expression in the sterile bulks and was annotated as a bHLH transcription factor orthologous to Arabidopsis AMS, suggesting an association with the male sterility of the mutant. Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR assays further validated the exclusive correlation of male sterility with the single C-to-T mutation in the fifth exon. | 8 | A leaf shape mutant provides insight into PINOID Serine/Threonine Kinase function in cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘Optimizing leaf shape is a major challenge in efforts to develop an ideal plant type. Cucumber leaf shapes are diverse;however, the molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying leaf shape formation are unknown. In this study, we obtained a round leaf mutant(rl) from an ethyl methanesulfonate-induced mutagenesis population. Genetic analysis revealed that a single recessive gene, rl, is responsible for this mutation. A modified Mut Map analysis combined linkage mapping identified a single nucleotide polymorphism within a candidate gene,Csa1 M537400, as the mutation underlying the trait.Csa1 M537400 encodes a PINOID kinase protein involved in auxin transport. Expression of Csa1 M537400 was significantly lower in the rl mutant than in wild type, and it displayed higher levels of IAA(indole-3-acetic acid) in several tissues. Treatment of wild-type plants with an auxin transport inhibitor induced the formation of round leaves,similar to those in the rl mutant. Altered expression patterns of several auxin-related genes in the rl mutant suggest that rl plays a key role in auxin biosynthesis,transport, and response in cucumber. | 9 | Comparative Cyto-molecular Analysis of Repetitive DNA Provides Insights into the Differential Genome Structure and Evolution of Five Cucumis Species显示文摘The genus Cucumis, includes the cucumber(2n = 14), melon(2n = 24), and other wild species, which is a good model for studying genome organization and evolution due to their variation in genome size and basic chromosome number. In this study, five Cucumis species with different geographical origins and basic chromosome numbers(i.e., C. sativus, C. hystrix, C. melo, C. anguria, and C. metuliferus) were used to identify and characterize the repetitive DNA in detail using a phylogenetic method. Comparative cyto-molecular genetic analysis of repetitive DNA was carried out using a graph-based clustering method, construction of Neighbor-Joining tree and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH).The results revealed that the five Cucumis species had differences in the repeat content of their genome, as well as in the composition of repetitive DNA and their genomic proportions. Three species from subgenus Melo showed a decreased tendency in both repeat types and genomic proportions, while two species from subgenus Cucumis also showed a decreased tendency in repeat types, but an increased tendency in genomic proportions. Phylogenic analysis of Cucumis Ty1/Copia, Ty3/Gypsy, and 45 S rDNA ITS regions revealed that C. sativus, C. hystrix, and C. melo were closely related species, which C. sativus and C. hystrix were closer, while C. anguria and C. metuliferus were closer to each other and further from the other three species. Differential accumulation and elimination of different repeat types divergently shaped the genomic architecture of these five Cucumis species, contributing to the genome’s evolution and diversification. | 10 | The chromosome-level Stevia genome provides insights into steviol glycoside biosynthesis显示文摘Stevia(Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni)is well known for its very sweet steviol glycosides(SGs)consisting of a common tetracyclic diterpenoid steviol backbone and a variable glycone.Steviol glycosides are 150–300 times sweeter than sucrose and are used as natural zero-calorie sweeteners.However,the most promising compounds are biosynthesized in small amounts.Based on Illumina,PacBio,and Hi-C sequencing,we constructed a chromosome-level assembly of Stevia covering 1416 Mb with a contig N50 value of 616.85 kb and a scaffold N50 value of 106.55 Mb.More than four-fifths of the Stevia genome consisted of repetitive elements.We annotated 44,143 high-confidence protein-coding genes in the high-quality genome.Genome evolution analysis suggested that Stevia and sunflower diverged~29.4 million years ago(Mya),shortly after the whole-genome duplication(WGD)event(WGD-2,~32.1 Mya)that occurred in their common ancestor.Comparative genomic analysis revealed that the expanded genes in Stevia were mainly enriched for biosynthesis of specialized metabolites,especially biosynthesis of terpenoid backbones,and for further oxidation and glycosylation of these compounds.We further identified all candidate genes involved in SG biosynthesis.Collectively,our current findings on the Stevia reference genome will be very helpful for dissecting the evolutionary history of Stevia and for discovering novel genes contributing to SG biosynthesis and other important agronomic traits in future breeding programs. | Xiaoyang Xu Haiyan Yuan Xiaqing Yu Suzhen Huang Yuming Sun Ting Zhang Qingquan Liu Haiying Tong Yongxia Zhang Yinjie Wang Chunxiao Liu Lei Wu Menglan Hou Yongheng Yang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 2 |

| 12 | Efficacy of Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)in treating cerebral hemorrhage in rats with traumatic brain injury显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the protective efficacy of Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)on cerebral hemorrhage in a rat model of traumatic brain injury(TBI)by investigating plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1),tissue-type plasminogen activator(t-PA),nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB,p-p65),nitric oxide(NO),endothelin(ET),cluster differentiation(CD61CD62),and coagulation.METHODS:The free-fall method was used to create a rat model of TBI.Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into six groups:the blank group,sham group,model group,low-dose Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)group,middle-dose Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)group,and high-dose Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)group.At 24 h after the model was created,we investigated brain MRI,brain tissue morphology using HE staining,flow cytometry,and immunohistochemical changes.RESULTS:Cerebral hemorrhage was aggravated in TBI rats(observed in brain specimens,brain MRI,and brain tissue HE).Cerebral immunohistochemistry results demonstrated that the expression of t-PA,PAI-1 and p-p65 increased significantly in TBI rats,while t-PA/PAI-1 had a significant decrease.In addition,CD61CD62,D2D,and ET were significantly increased in TBI rats,and PT and APTT were significantly prolonged;in contrast,NO was significantly decreased.Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)decreased cerebral hemorrhage in TBI rats(observed in brain MRI and brain tissue HE),and increased t-PA/PAI-1,CD61CD62 significantly.It also significantly decreased the expression of t-PA,PAI-1,and p-p65 in brain immunohistochemistry and significantly decreased PT,APTT,D2D,and ET.However,there were no differences in NO between the model group and the Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)group.CONCLUSION:Sanqi(Radix Notoginseng)can decrease the expression of p-p65,increase t-PA/PAI-1,and stem traumatic intracranial hemorrhage in a TBI rat model. | JIANG Tao ZHOU Xiaqing JIANG Huifang YING Rongbiao ZHANG Zhirong CAI Danli WU Yu FANG Haijun WANG Lingcong | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,2: | 2 |
