2Inhibition of the spread of endophytic Sporisorium reilianum renders maize resistance to head smut显示文摘Head smut, caused by the fungal pathogen Sporisorium reilianum, poses a grave threat to maize(Zea mays) production worldwide. Here we report cytological and molecular evidence for maize resistance to head smut. During early stages of root infection, S. reilianum mycelium was capable of penetrating the root epidermis of both resistant(Ji1037) and susceptible(HZ4) inbred lines. S. reilianum hyphae were observed in the root–stem junction at 6 days after inoculation. In an attempt to monitor hyphal spread within the maize plant,a highly specific and sensitive real-time PCR method was established to estimate the hyphal content in infected maize tissues. During the upward growth of endophytic S.reilianum, the extent of hyphal spread was markedly different between Ji1037 and HZ4. Very little or no pathogen was detected in aerial parts of Ji1037, whereas large amounts of pathogen accumulated in aboveground tissues, particularly inflorescences, of HZ4. Thus, maize resistance to S. reilianum was achieved mainly by inhibition of endophytic hyphal growth rather than by prevention of early-root penetration by the pathogen.Xianrong Zhao Jianrong Ye Lai Wei Nan Zhang Yuexian Xing Weiliang Zuo Qing Chao Guoqing Tan Mingliang Xu 2015The Crop Journal2015,3,2:2

6Phase Regulation and Defect Passivation Enabled by Phosphoryl Chloride Molecules for Efficient Quasi‑2D Perovskite Light‑Emitting Diodes显示文摘Quasi-2D perovskites have attracted tremendous interest for application as lightemission layers in light-emitting diodes(LEDs).However, the heterogeneous n phase and non-uniform distribution still severely limit the further development of quasi-2D perovskite LEDs(Pero-LEDs).Meanwhile,the increased defect density caused by the reduced dimension and grain size induces non-radiative recombination and further deteriorates the device performance. Here,we found that a series of molecules containing phosphoryl chloride functional groups have noticeable enhancement effects on the device performance of quasi-2D Pero-LEDs.Then,we studied the modification mechanism by focusing on the bis(2-oxo-3-oxazolidinyl)phosphinic chloride(BOPCl).It is concluded that the BOPCl can not only regulate the phase distribution by decreasing the crystallization rate but also remain in the grain boundaries and passivate the defects. As a result, the corresponding quasi-2D Pero-LEDs obtained a maximum external quantum efficiency(EQE_(max))of 20.82%and an average EQE(EQE_(ave))of around 20%on the optimal 50 devices, proving excellent reproducibility. Our work provides a new selection of molecular types for regulating the crystallization and passivating the defects of quasi-2D perovskite films.Mingliang Li Yaping Zhao Jia Guo Xiangqian Qin Qin Zhang Chengbo Tian Peng Xu Yuqing Li Wanjia Tian Xiaojia Zheng Guichuan Xing Wen‑Hua Zhang Zhanhua Wei 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,8:1

9Methylation of PLK1 by SET7/9 ensures accurate kinetochore–microtubule dynamics显示文摘Faithful segregation of mitotic chromosomes requires bi-orientation of sister chromatids, which relies on the sensing of correct attachments between spindle microtubules and kinetochores. Although the mechanisms underlying PLK1 activation have been extensively studied, the regulatory mechanisms that couple PLK1 activity to accurate chromosome segregation are not well understood. In particular, PLK1 is implicated in stabilizing kinetochore–microtubule attachments, but how kinetochore PLK1 activity is regulated to avoid hyperstabilized kinetochore–microtubules in mitosis remains elusive. Here, we show that kinetochore PLK1 kinase activity is modulated by SET7/9 via lysine methylation during early mitosis. The SET7/9-elicited dimethylation occurs at the Lys191 of PLK1, which tunes down its activity by limiting ATP utilization. Overexpression of the non-methylatable PLK1 mutant or chemical inhibition of SET7/9 methyltransferase activity resulted in mitotic arrest due to destabilized kinetochore–microtubule attachments. These data suggest that kinetochore PLK1 is essential for stable kinetochore–microtubule attachments and methylation by SET7/9 promotes dynamic kinetochore–microtubule attachments for accurate error correction. Our findings define a novel homeostatic regulation at the kinetochore that integrates protein phosphorylation and methylation with accurate chromosome segregation for maintenance of genomic stability.Ruoying Yu Huihui Wu Hazrat Ismail Shihao Du Jun Cao Jianyu Wang Tarsha Ward Fengrui Yang Ping Gui Mahboob Ali Lingluo Chu Fei Mo Qi Wang Youjun Chu Jianye Zang Yun Zhao Mingliang Ye Guowei Fang Peng RChen Zhen Dou Xinjiao Gao Wenwen Wang Xing Liu Xuebiao Yao 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,6:0
10Influence of Thickeners on Cement Paste Structure and Performance of Engineered Cementitious Composites显示文摘Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and amphoteric polyacrylamide (ACPAM) were respectively used to prepare engineered cementitious composite (ECC) which exhibits strain-hardening behavior under uniaxial tension. The connections between cement paste structure and the performance of the composite in fresh and hardened state were investigated, aiming at achieving the desirable workability at a given solids concentration. The experimental results of viscosity and microstructure of cement pastes show that the intimate connections between flocculation groups lead to the growing increase in viscosity. The results of deformability and fiber dispersion demonstrate that fiber dispersion coefficient is a comprehensive index which can reflect the performance of deformability as well as uniformity. And the desirable fresh mixture can be achieved by optimizing the viscosity of cement paste. At last, the ductile strain-hardening performance of the ECC prepared with HPMC or ACPAM was investigated through uniaxial tensile test.陈拴发 何锐 LI Yongpeng XING Mingliang CONG Peiliang 2013Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2013,28,2:0
