SARS-CoV-2 infection aggravates chronic comorbidities of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in mice显示文摘Background:Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)and diabetes mellitus(DM)are top two chronic comorbidities that increase the severity and mortality of COVID-19.However,how SARS-CoV-2 alters the progression of chronic diseases remain unclear. Methods:We used adenovirus to deliver h-ACE2 to lung to enable SARS-CoV-2 infection in mice.SARS-CoV-2’s impacts on pathogenesis of chronic diseases were studied through histopathological, virologic and molecular biology analysis.Results:Pre-existing CVDs resulted in viral invasion,ROS elevation and activation of apoptosis pathways contribute myocardial injury during SARS-CoV-2 infection.Viral infection increased fasting blood glucose and reduced insulin response in DM model.Bone mineral density decreased shortly after infection, which associated with impaired PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling. Conclusion:We established mouse models mimicked the complex pathological symptoms of COVID-19 patients with chronic diseases.Pre-existing diseases could impair the inflammatory responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection, which further aggravated the pre-existing diseases. This work provided valuable information to better understand the interplay between the primary diseases and SARS-CoV-2 infection. | Yuanwu Ma Dan Lu Linlin Bao Yajin Qu Jiangning Liu Xiaolong Qi Lei Yu Xu Zhang Feifei Qi Qi Lv Yunpeng Liu Xudong Shi Caixian Sun Jing Li Jie Wang Yunlin Han Kai Gao Wei Dong Ning Liu Shan Gao Jing Xue Qiang Wei Sidan Pan Hong Gao Lianfeng Zhang Chuan Qin | 2021 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2021,4,1: | 3
Numerical experiment rock fragmentation by combined dynamic and static loads under dual-cutter head显示文摘This paper puts forward a new rock fragmentation loading method of dual-cutter head combined dynamic and static loads.By applying the numerical simulation software-RFPA2D,we have done numerical experiment about the siltstone's crushing effect by dynamic load on single cutter head without confining pressure, dynamic load on single cutter head with confining pressure 10MPa and different dual-cutter heads spacing by combined dynamic and static loads with confining pressure 10MPa.Experimental results show that the confining pressure can obviously affect the rock fragmentation effect.Combined dynamic and static loads can greatly improve the rock fragmentation effect. There exists an optimal spacing of dual-cutter head that can make the rock fragmentation achieve the desired effect.Through analyzing the acoustic emission accumulative energy and quantity, the authors make a conclusion that the optimum spacing is 30 mm. | Zhao Fujun Wang Hongyu Shen Peiwen Chen Caixian Xu Yanfei | 2012 | Engineering Sciences2012,10,2: | 3
Do Forest Landscape Pattern Planning and Optimization Play a Role in Enhancing Soil Conservation Services in Mountain Areas of Western China?显示文摘The relationship between landscape patterns and soil conservation,as well as the need for nature-based soil erosion control and landscape pattern optimization, have increasingly gained attention in the scientific and political community in the past decade. With the implementation of a series of afforestation/reforestation projects in the western China, the optimization and management of forest landscape patterns will become more important for soil conservation. In this study, the Bailongjiang Watershed(BLJW),in the western China, was used as a case study to explore the relationship between the forest landscape pattern and soil conservation services using mathematical and spatial statistics methods.A spatially-explicit model called the sediment delivery ratio(SDR)model of the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)was used to assess the soil conservation service in each sub-basin of BLJW in 1990,2002,and 2014,and landscape indices were used to describe changes in forest landscape patterns in each sub-basin.Nine forest landscape indices, including the percentage of landscape(PLAND),largest patch index(LPI),edge density(ED),landscape shape index(LSI),mean patch shape(SHAPEMN),patch cohesion index(COHESION),landscape division index(DIVISION),splitting index(SPLIT)and aggregation index(AI),were significantly correlated to the soil conservation service.PLAND,AI,LSI and SPLIT of forestland were determined to be the more important landscape indicators. The results also indicated that soil conservation was substantially scale-dependent.The results demonstrated that landscape type diversity greatly affected watershed soil conservation and can be used for forest landscape restoration and management.Furthermore, spatial statistics analysis indicated that the Spatial Lag Model(SLM)was superior to the Ordinary Least Squares(OLS)for soil conservation regressions in 1990 and 2014,while OLS was more appropriate for the regression in 2002.These findings will be useful for enhancing soil conservation and for optimizing mountainous forest landscape patterns for afforestation/reforestation and regional development.Future planning and implementation of ecological restoration should focus more on strategic spatial planning and integrated landscape management with full consideration of future climate, water availability/consumption,hydrological regime, topography, and watershed features, especially on afforestation and revegetation projects in western mountainous China, where the socio-ecological system is fragile and poor. | GONG Jie ZHANG Jinxi ZHANG Yunxia ZHU Yuehua JIN Tiantian XU Caixian | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,5: | 3

Improved rhizoremediation for decabromodiphenyl ether(BDE-209)in E-waste contaminated soils显示文摘An experiment was conducted to improve rhizoremediation for decabromodiphenyl ether(BDE-209)contaminated soil from typical E-waste dismantling areas.Plants of ryegrass(Lolium perenne L.)and rice(Oryza sativa L.)were cultivated in aged-contaminated(initial concentration of 346.3μg BDE-209·kg^(-1))and freshly-spiked(initial concentration of 3127μg BDE-209·kg^(-1))soils,coupling with the agricultural modification strategies of compost addition and/or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)infection,respectively.60 days’growth of ryegrass significantly facilitated the dissipation of BDE-209,with the most effective in its rhizosphere in treatment inoculated with AMF;the BDE-209 dissipation rates achieved 51.9% and 22.8% in rhizosphere, and 43.5% and 19.8% in non-rhizosphere,for aged-contaminated and freshlyspiked soils,respectively.120 days’growth of rice with simultaneous inoculation of AMF and addition of compost was the most effective in facilitating BDE-209 dissipation in agedcontaminated soil, with the removal rates of 53.3% and 48.1% in rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soils respectively;while for freshly-spiked soils, the most effective removal was achieved by compost addition only, with the BDE-209 dissipation rates of 27.9% and 26.6% in rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils, respectively.High throughput sequencing analysis of rhizosphere soil DNA showed that responses in microbial communities and their structure differed with plant species, soil pollution dose,AMF inoculation and/or compost addition.Actinomycetales,Xanthomonadales,Burkholderiales,Sphingomonadales,Clostridiales,Cytophagales,Gemmatimonadales and Saprospirales were the sensitive responders and even possibly potential functional microbial groups during the facilitated removal of BDE-209 in soils. This study illustrates an effective rhizoremediation pattern for removal of BDE-209 in pollution soils, through successive cultivation of rice and followed by ryegrass, with rice growth coupled with AMF inoculation and compost addition, while ryegrass growth coupled with AMF inoculation only. | Jiayin Feng Xinquan Shen Jian Chen Jiachun Shi Jianming Xu Caixian Tang Philip C.Brookes Yan He | 2019 | Soil Ecology Letters2019,1,3: | 0
Soil Biogeochemical Cycle Couplings Inferred from a Function-Taxon Network显示文摘Soil biogeochemical cycles and their interconnections play a critical role in regulating functions and services of environmental systems. However, the coupling of soil biogeochemical processes with their mediating microbes remains poorly understood. Here,we identified key microbial taxa regulating soil biogeochemical processes by exploring biomarker genes and taxa of contigs assembled from metagenomes of forest soils collected along a latitudinal transect(18°N to 48°N)in eastern China.Among environmental and soil factors, soil pH was a sensitive indicator for functional gene composition and diversity.A function-taxon bipartite network inferred from metagenomic contigs identified the microbial taxa regulating coupled biogeochemical cycles between carbon and phosphorus, nitrogen and sulfur, and nitrogen and iron. Our results provide novel evidence for the coupling of soil biogeochemical cycles, identify key regulating microbes, and demonstrate the efficacy of a new approach to investigate the processes and microbial taxa regulating soil ecosystem functions. | Bin Ma Erinne Stirling Yuanhui Liu Kankan Zhao Jizhong Zhou Brajesh K.Singh Caixian Tang Randy A.Dahlgren Jianming Xu | 2021 | Research2021,,1: | 0
