1Further Information of the Associated Li Deposits in the No.6 Coal Seam at Jungar Coalfield, Inner Mongolia, Northern China显示文摘Total 138 coal samples and 14 parting samples were taken from the No. 6 Seam of the Jungar Coalfield, Inner Mongolia. These samples were analysed by optical microscopy, sequential chemical extraction procedure (SCEP), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope in conjunction with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM-EDX) analysis. The results indicate that the Li contents have reached the industrial grade of the coal associated Li deposit, and the total Li reserves have reached 2406600 tons, that is, 5157000 tons Li2O in the No. 6 seam in the Jungar Coalfield. The sequential chemical extraction procedure results suggest that the Li concentration is mainly related to inorganic matter. The minerals in the coals consist of kaolinite, boehmite, chlorite-group mineral, quartz, calcite, pyrite, siderite and amorphous clay material. Some Li could be absorbed by clay minerals in the Li-bearing coal seam. The chlorite phase?could be?most likely the host for a part of Li. 2Toxicities and risk assessment of heavy metals in sediments of Taihu Lake, China, based on sediment quality guidelines显示文摘The occurrence, toxicities, and ecological risks of five heavy metals(Pb, Cu, Cd, Zn and Ni) in the sediment of Taihu Lake were investigated in this study. To evaluate the toxicities caused by the heavy metals, the toxicities induced by organic contaminants and ammonia in the sediments were screened out with activated carbon and zeolite. The toxicities of heavy metals in sediments were tested with benthic invertebrates(tubificid and chironomid).The correlations between toxicity of sediment and the sediment quality guidelines(SQGs)derived previously were evaluated. There were significant correlations(p < 0.0001) between the observed toxicities and the total risk quotients of the heavy metals based on SQGs,indicating that threshold effect level(TEL) and probable effect level(PEL) were reliable to predict the toxicities of heavy metals in the sediments of Taihu Lake. By contrast, the method based on acid volatile sulfides(AVS) and simultaneously extracted metals(SEM),such as ∑SEM/AVS and ∑SEM-AVS, did not show correlations with the toxicities. Moreover,the predictive ability of SQGs was confirmed by a total predicting accuracy of 77%. Ecological risk assessment based on TELs and PELs showed that the contaminations of Pb, Cu, Cd and Zn in the sediments of Taihu Lake were at relatively low or medium levels. 3Soil Microbial Population Dynamics along a Chronosequence of Moist Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest Succession in Southwestern China显示文摘Little is known about whether soil microbial population dynamics are correlated with forest succession.To test the hypotheses that(1) soil microbial composition changes over successional stages,and(2) soil microbial diversity is positively correlated with plant species diversity,we determined the soil microbial populations,community composition,and microflora diversity in evergreen broad-leaved forests along a chronosequence of vegetation succession from 5 to 300 years in southwestern China.The soil microbial community was mainly composed of bacteria(87.1-98.7% of the total microorganisms and 10 genera identified),fungi(0.3-4.0%,7 genera),and actinomycetes(2.1-9.1%,8 species and 1 genus).There were significant differences in soil microbial populations among different successional stages and within the four seasons.The seasonal variations of the soil microbial community may be associated with the seasonal changes in environmental conditions.The changes in soil microbial diversity(Shannon-Wiener index) with successional time followed one-humped,convex curves peaked at-100 years since restoration,which is identical with the trends of the aboveground plant diversity.Higher plant diversity resulting in enhanced nutrient flow and root exudation may contribute to positive relationships between the soil microbial diversity and plant diversity.Hence,decreases in soil microbial diversity in the late-successional stages appear to be related to the net loss in species richness that occurs after 100 years since restoration.Our findings confirm the intermediate disturbance hypothesis that suggests diversity peaks at midsuccessional stages.ZHU Wanze CAI Xiaohu LIU Xingliang WANG Jinxi CHENG Song ZHANG Xiuyan LI Dengyu LI Maihe 2010Journal of Mountain Science2010,7,4:8

6Do Forest Landscape Pattern Planning and Optimization Play a Role in Enhancing Soil Conservation Services in Mountain Areas of Western China?显示文摘The relationship between landscape patterns and soil conservation,as well as the need for nature-based soil erosion control and landscape pattern optimization,have increasingly gained attention in the scientific and political community in the past decade.With the implementation of a series of afforestation/reforestation projects in the western China,the optimization and management of forest landscape patterns will become more important for soil conservation.In this study,the Bailongjiang Watershed(BLJW),in the western China,was used as a case study to explore the relationship between the forest landscape pattern and soil conservation services using mathematical and spatial statistics methods.A spatially-explicit model called the sediment delivery ratio(SDR)model of the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)was used to assess the soil conservation service in each sub-basin of BLJW in 1990,2002,and 2014,and landscape indices were used to describe changes in forest landscape patterns in each sub-basin.Nine forest landscape indices,including the percentage of landscape(PLAND),largest patch index(LPI),edge density(ED),landscape shape index(LSI),mean patch shape(SHAPEMN),patch cohesion index(COHESION),landscape division index(DIVISION),splitting index(SPLIT)and aggregation index(AI),were significantly correlated to the soil conservation service.PLAND,AI,LSI and SPLIT of forestland were determined to be the more important landscape indicators.The results also indicated that soil conservation was substantially scale-dependent.The results demonstrated that landscape type diversity greatly affected watershed soil conservation and can be used for forest landscape restoration and management.Furthermore,spatial statistics analysis indicated that the Spatial Lag Model(SLM)was superior to the Ordinary Least Squares(OLS)for soil conservation regressions in 1990 and 2014,while OLS was more appropriate for the regression in 2002.These findings will be useful for enhancing soil conservation and for optimizing mountainous forest landscape patterns for afforestation/reforestation and regional development.Future planning and implementation of ecological restoration should focus more on strategic spatial planning and integrated landscape management with full consideration of future climate,water availability/consumption,hydrological regime,topography,and watershed features,especially on afforestation and revegetation projects in western mountainous China,where the socio-ecological system is fragile and poor.GONG Jie ZHANG Jinxi ZHANG Yunxia ZHU Yuehua JIN Tiantian XU Caixian 2021Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,5:3
7Characteristics of dental morphology in the Xinjiang Uyghurs and correlation with the EDARV370A variant显示文摘Teeth are one of the most important materials for anthropological studies because they are likely to be preserved in ancient remains.While the frequencies of dental characteristics can provide clues to the phylogeny of populations,genetic studies at the individual level can further reveal the biological mechanisms and evolutionary context of dental characteristics.In this study,by analyzing 38 dental characteristics of 242 Xinjiang Uyghur individuals,we found that(i)the dental characteristics of the Uyghurs showed evidence of admixture between European and East Asian populations.The admixture proportions were in line with those previously reported in population genetic studies;(ii)the Xinjiang Uyghur dental characteristics formed three clusters in pairwise correlation analysis.One of the main clusters consisted of characteristics including incisor shoveling,double shoveling and mesial ridge;and(iii)all the characteristics in this cluster were significantly correlated with the genetic variant EDARV370A.The extracted composite phenotypic factor was also significantly associated with EDARV370A,which explained 18%of the total phenotypic variance.This indicated a pleiotropic effect,i.e.,the same genetic factor affects a number of dental characteristics at the same time.Our results confirmed that EDARV370A,a genetic variant that first originated in East Asia about 30000 years ago,played an important role in incisor shoveling in East Asia.This finding suggested that incisor shoveling in modern humans in East Asia is likely to have appeared after the late Pleistocene.TAN JingZe PENG QianQian LI JinXi GUAN YaQun ZHANG LiPing JIAO Yi YANG YaJun WANG SiJia JIN Li 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,5:2

10PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and vaScular Events (PRECISE)-a population-based prospective cohort study: rationale, design and baseline participant characteristics显示文摘Background and purpose Cardiovascular diseases and dementia are two major diseases in the elderly.Atherosclerosis is associated with future vascular events and cognitive impairment.The PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and vaScular Events(PRECISE)study is a population-based prospective cohort study with comprehensive evaluation of multiterritorial artery stenosis and plaque using advanced vascular imaging techniques and prospective collection of vascular events and cognitive assessments.Methods Between May 2017 and September 2019,the PRECISE study enrolled 3067 community-dwelling adults with ages between 50 and 75 years cluster sampled from six villages and four communities of Lishui city in China.Data are collected in face-to face interviews at baseline,2-year and 4-year follow-up visits.Brain MRI including high-resolution sequences for intracranial and carotidal arteries and CT angiography for thoracoabdominal arteries were performed at baseline and will be rescanned after 4 years.Cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events and cognitive assessment will be prospectively collected after the enrollment.Blood and urine samples were collected and biomarkers were tested at baseline.Results A total of 3067 subjects were enrolled,among which 53.5%were female with an average age of 61.2±6.7 years.Among them,2.8%,8.1%,43.1%and 21.6%had a history of stroke,coronary heart diseases,hypertension and diabetes mellitus,respectively.Conclusions The PRECISE study is a population-based prospective cohort study with comprehensive evaluation of atherosclerotic stenosis and plaque using advanced vascular imaging techniques.Data from this cohort provide us an opportunity to precisely evaluate polyvascular atherosclerosis and its association with future vascular events and cognitive impairment.Yuesong Pan Jing Jing Xueli Cai Yilong Wang Suying Wang Xia Meng Chunlai Zeng Jiong Shi Jiansong Ji Jinxi Lin Lingchun Lyu Zhe Zhang Lerong Mei Shiping Li Shan Li Wanlin Zhu Hao Li Tiemin Wei Yongjun Wang 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1:1
11Palmprint Phenotype Feature Extraction and Classification Based on Deep Learning显示文摘Palmprints are of long practical and cultural interest.Palmprint principal lines,also called primary palmar lines,are one of the most dominant palmprint features and do not change over the lifespan.The existing methods utilize filters and edge detection operators to get the principal lines from the palm region of interest(ROI),but can not distinguish the principal lines from fine wrinkles.This paper proposes a novel deep-learning architecture to extract palmprint principal lines,which could greatly reduce the influence of fine wrinkles,and classify palmprint phenotypes further from 2D palmprint images.This architecture includes three modules,ROI extraction module(REM)using pre-trained hand key point location model,principal line extraction module(PLEM)using deep edge detection model,and phenotype classifier(PC)based on ResNet34 network.Compared with the current ROI extraction method,our extraction is competitive with a success rate of 95.2%.For principal line extraction,the similarity score between our extracted lines and ground truth palmprint lines achieves 0.813.And the proposed architecture achieves a phenotype classification accuracy of 95.7%based on our self-built palmprint dataset CAS_Palm.Fan Jinxi Li Shaoying Song Haiguo Zhang Sijia Wang Guangtao Zhai 2022Phenomics2022,2,4:1
12Rapid and Efficient Adsorption Removal of Reactive Blue 4 from Aqueous Solution by Cross-Linked Microcrystalline Cellulose–Epichlorohydrin Polymers: Isothermal, Kinetic, and Thermodynamic Study显示文摘In this study, we modified microcrystalline cellulose by cross-linking it with epichlorohydrin to obtain a rapid and efficient adsorbent for the removal of Reactive Blue 4 dye from aqueous solution. Evidences of the cross-linking of the microcrystalline cellulose were obtained by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diff raction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. We investigated the eff ects of adsorbent dosage, p H, initial dye concentration, temperature, and contact time on the dye adsorption capacity. The results showed that the adsorption equilibrium time was just 20 min and the maximum adsorption capacity was 69.79 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm data fitted the Langmuir isotherm model well, and the adsorption kinetics data followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The results of the thermodynamic analysis suggest that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic. Recyclability experiments demonstrated the good reusability of this adsorbent. 15Epigenetic regulation of gene expression in osteoarthritis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is the most common form of joint disease and the leading cause of chronic disability in middle-aged and older populations.The development of diseasemodifying therapy for OA currently faces major obstacles largely because the regulatory mechanisms for the function of joint tissue cells remain unclear.Previous studies have found that the alterations in gene expression of specific transcription factors(TFs),pro-or antiinflammatory cytokines,matrix proteinases and extracellular matrix(ECM)proteins in articular cartilage may be involved in the development of OA.However,the regulatory mechanisms for the expression of those genes in OA chondrocytes are largely unknown.The recent advances in epigenetic studies have shed light on the importance of epigenetic regulation of gene expression in the development of OA.In this review,we summarize and discuss the recent studies on the regulatory roles of various epigenetic mechanisms in the expression of genes for specific TFs,cytokines,ECM proteins and matrix proteinases,as well the significance of these epigenetic mechanisms in the pathogenesis of OA.Mingcai Zhang Jinxi Wang 2015Genes & Diseases2015,2,1:1
16Micro–meso-macroporous FeCo-N-C derived from hierarchical bimetallic FeCo-ZIFs as cathode catalysts for enhanced Li-O2 batteries performance显示文摘Developing bifunctional catalysts that increase both the OER and ORR kinetics and transport reactants with high efficiency is desirable. Herein, micro–meso-macroporous FeCo-N-C-X(denoted as 'MFeCo-N-C-X', X represents Fe/Co molar ratio in bimetallic zeolite imidazole frameworks FeCo-ZIFs) catalysts derived from hierarchical M-FeCo-ZIFs-X was prepared. The micropores in M-FeCo-N-C-X have strong capability in O2 capture as well as dictate the nucleation and early-stage deposition of Li2O2,the mesopores provided a channel for the electrolyte wetting, and the macroporous structure promoted more available active sites when used as cathode for Li-O2 batteries. More importantly, M-Fe CoN-C-0.2 based cathode showed a high initial capacity(18,750 mAh g-1@0.1 A g-1), good rate capability(7900 m Ah g-1@0.5 A g-1), and cycle stability up to 192 cycles. Interestingly, the FeCo-N-C-0.2 without macropores suffered relatively poorer stability with only 75 cycles, although its discharge capacity was still as high as 17,200 mA h g-1(@0.1 A g-1). The excellent performance attributed to the synergistic contribution of homogeneous Fe, Co nanoparticles and N co-doping carbon frameworks with special micro–meso-macroporous structure. 17Regulating Li transport in Li-magnesium alloy for dendrite free Li metal anode显示文摘Li metal has become a strong candidate for anode due to its high theoretical specific capacity and lowest electrochemical potential.However,the poor reversibility caused by continuous chemical and electrochemical degradation hinders the practical application of Li metal.Solid-solution-based metal alloy phases have been proposed as hosts for regulating the non-dendrite electrodeposition,but the fundamental understanding remains unclear due to the drastically different deposition behaviors of Li on them.Here we found the difference in the diffusion coefficient of Li atoms on solid-solution-based metal alloy phases(Li-Mg and Li-Ag alloys)was a major contributor to the different deposition behaviors.The low Li atom diffusion coefficient of Li-Mg alloy showed a preferential Li accumulation on the upper surface rather than the inward-growth plating of Li atoms into alloy foil in Li-Ag alloy.By the process of secondary recrystallization,we improved the diffusion coefficient of Li atoms in Li-Mg alloy that facilitates the inward transfer rather than surface plating of Li atoms.In this case,the recrystallized Li-Mg alloy underwent a solidsolution phase change in the delithiation-lithiation cycles which yielded a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.3%with a reversible gravimetric capacity of 2,874 mAh·g−1 and superior cycling stability over 5,000 h without dendrite growth.Jinxi Wang Yadong Ye Hongmin Zhou Wei Zhang Zhaowei Sun Jiawen Zhu Hongchang Jin Huanyu Xie Haoliang Huang Yi Cui Rong Huang Zezhong Li Song Jin Hengxing Ji 2023Nano Research2023,16,6:0
18Regulatory role of NFAT1 signaling in articular chondrocyteactivities and osteoarthritis pathogenesis显示文摘Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common form of joint disease, is characterized clinically by joint pain, stiffness,and deformity. OA is now considered a whole joint disease;however, the breakdown of the articular cartilage remains themajor hallmark of the disease. Current treatments targeting OA symptoms have a limited impact on impeding orreversing the OA progression. Understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying OA development isa critical barrier to progress in OA therapy. Recent studies by the current authors’ group and others have revealedthat the nuclear factor of activated T cell 1 (NFAT1), a member of the NFAT family of transcription factors, regulatesthe expression of many anabolic and catabolic genes in articular chondrocytes of adult mice. Mice lacking NFAT1exhibit normal skeletal development but display OA in both appendicular and spinal facet joints as adults. 20A successful case on traditional Chinese fumigation-soaking therapy in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy显示文摘AIM: To investigate the scheme of inducing the diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DNP) symptoms by combine Chinese traditional medicine with modern medicine. METHODS: Patient hospitalized on April 1, 2005. Main symptoms in hospitalization: His bilateral fingers and toe tips felt stabbing pain, numb, cold, assuming a type of sock set which alleviated after he had a rest and aggravated after exercise. He had also got the symptom of dizziness, asthenia, eating little food, very thin bowel and body pain which had influence on his sleeping. Physical examination in hospital: The bilateral lower limbs which got a hyperpathia did not swell. The bilateral dorsum pedis artery pulsation was atlenuative. The skin temperature was not high. Other nerve system examination had been discovered abnormal. Diagnosis: Traditional Chinese medical diagnosis: Xiaokebing (blood stasis for insufficiency of qi, blockage of meridian and collaterals). Modern medical diagnosis: Diabetes type 2, DNP, diabetic lower limbs artery obliteration, diabetic foot (0 level), diabetic retinopathy, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, hypertension, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema. Carried on the former therapy plan that continued to use insulin to control blood glucose, depressed blood pressure and total plasma lipoprotein etc. Meanwhile used the therapy of bilateral feet medicinal bath (Sanling 30 g, Ezhu 30 g, Ruxiang 30 g, Moyao 30 g, Zhichuanwu 30 g, Zhicaowu 30 g, Weilingxian 30 g, Mugua 30 g, Sangzhi 30 g), boiled in water, 1 dose everyday, soak feet twice a day, 20-30 minutes once, < 37 ℃. RESULTS: Seven days later, the pain of bilateral feet alleviated obviously, and the bilateral dorsum pedis artery pulsation enhanced. Blood glucose and total plasma lipoprotein had no changes.
