1Analysis of genetic architecture and favorable allele usage of agronomic traits in a large collection of Chinese rice accessions显示文摘Genotyping and phenotyping large natural populations provide opportunities for population genomic analysis and genome-wide association studies(GWAS). Several rice populations have been re-sequenced in the past decade;however, many major Chinese rice cultivars were not included in these studies. Here, we report large-scale genomic and phenotypic datasets for a collection mainly comprised of 1,275 rice accessions of widely planted cultivars and parental hybrid rice lines from China. The population was divided into three indica/Xian and three japonica/Geng phylogenetic subgroups that correlate strongly with their geographic or breeding origins. We acquired a total of 146 phenotypic datasets for 29 agronomic traits under multi-environments for different subpopulations. With GWAS, we identified a total of 143 significant association loci, including three newly identified candidate genes or alleles that control heading date or amylose content. Our genotypic analysis of agronomically important genes in the population revealed that many favorable alleles are underused in elite accessions, suggesting they may be used to provide improvements in future breeding efforts. 2Long-term clinical observation of patients with acute and chronic complete spinal cord injury after transplantation of Neuro Regen scaffold显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)often results in an inhibitory environment at the injury site.In our previous studies,transplantation of a scaffold combined with stem cells was proven to induce neural regeneration in animal models of complete SCI.Based on these preclinical studies,collagen scaffolds loaded with the patients’own bone marrow mononuclear cells or human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells were transplanted into SCI patients.Fifteen patients with acute complete SCI and 51 patients with chronic complete SCI were enrolled and followed up for 2 to 5 years.No serious adverse events related to functional scaffold transplantation were observed.Among the patients with acute SCI,five patients achieved expansion of their sensory positions and six patients recovered sensation in the bowel or bladder.Additionally,four patients regained voluntary walking ability accompanied by reconnection of neural signal transduction.Among patients with chronic SCI,16 patients achieved expansion of their sensation level and 30 patients experienced enhanced reflexive defecation sensation or increased skin sweating below the injury site.Nearly half of the patients with chronic cervical SCI developed enhanced finger activity.These long-term follow-up results suggest that functional scaffold transplantation may represent a feasible treatment for patients with complete SCI.Fengwu Tang Jiaguang Tang Yannan Zhao Jiaojiao Zhang Zhifeng Xiao Bing Chen Guang Han Na Yin Xianfeng Jiang Changyu Zhao Shixiang Cheng Ziqiang Wang Yumei Chen Qiaoling Chen Keran Song Zhiwei Zhang Junjie Niu Lingjun Wang Qin Shi Liang Chen Huilin Yang Shuxun Hou Sai Zhang Jianwu Dai 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5:3
3Highly sensitive integrated flexible tactile sensors with piezoresistive Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films显示文摘Flexible tactile sensor has been extensively investigated as a key component for emerging electronics applications such as robotics,wearable devices,computer hardware,and security systems.Tactile sensors based on various one-dimensional materials have been widely explored.However,precise control of the direction and distribution of these nanomaterials remains a great challenge,and it has been difficult to scale down the device.Here,we introduce highly sensitive integrated flexible tactile sensors based on uniform phase-change Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5)(GST)thin films that can scale device size down,at least,to micrometer range.Significant piezoresistive effect has been observed in GST-based sensors,showing a giant gauge factor of 338.A proof of concept 5×5 sensor array functioning as a touch panel has been demonstrated.Also,the flexible GST tactile sensor has been utilized for monitoring of radial artery pulse.In addition to the well-known tunable electrical and optical properties,the piezoresistive GST films provide a versatile platform for the integration of sensing,recording,and displaying functions.Zhiguang Wang Cunzheng Dong Xinjun Wang Menghui Li Tianxiang Nan Xianfeng Liang Huaihao Chen Yuyi Wei Haomiao Zhou Mohsen Zaeimbashi Syd Cash Nian-Xiang Sun 2018npj Flexible Electronics2018,2,1:2
4Optically induced transparency in a micro-cavity显示文摘Electromagnetically induced transparency has the unique ability to optically control transparency windows with low light in atomic systems.However,its practical applications in quantum physics and information science are limited due to rigid experimental requirements.Here we demonstrate a new mechanism of optically induced transparency in a micro-cavity by introducing a four-wave mixing gain to nonlinearly couple two separated resonances of the micro-cavity in an ambient environment.A signature Fano-like resonance was observed owing to the nonlinear interference of the two coupled resonances.Moreover,we show that the unidirectional gain of the four-wave mixing can lead to the remarkable effect of non-reciprocal transmission at the transparency windows.Optically induced transparency may offer a unique platform for a compact,integrated solution to all-optical and quantum information.Yuanlin Zheng Jianfan Yang Zhenhua Shen Jianjun Cao Xianfeng Chen Xiaogan Liang Wenjie Wan 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:2

7Interactions between cadmium and multiple precipitates in an Al-Li-Cu alloy:Improving aging kinetics and precipitation hardening显示文摘This work demonstrates significant improvements in both the aging kinetics and precipitation hardening of an Al-Li-Cu alloy with the minor addition of Cd(0.06 at.%).The precipitation hardening effect of T1 precipitates in casting Al-Li-Cu alloys has long been ignored since it is difficult to achieve a high number density of fine precipitates without a large number of dislocations.A detailed transmission electron microscopy investigation shows that the Cd addition has changed the distribution of T1 precipitates from the conventional uneven distribution near dislocations or grain boundaries to a more homogeneous manner.Most of the Cd-rich nanoparticles were observed at the broad face and/or terminal of the T1 platelets.It is highly likely that these nanoparticles act as heterogeneous nucleation sites,which consequently leads to a higher number density of T1 precipitates.Moreover,Cd atoms were preferentially segregated withinδprecipitates,which can be attributed to the strong bonding between Li and Cd.The interactions between Cd and the T1(Al2CuLi)andδ′(Al3Li)precipitates in Al-Li-Cu alloy are first reported.The present study may propose a new mechanism to effectively improve precipitation kinetics and therefore the age-hardening effect of Al-Li-Cu alloys.Liang Wu Yugang Li Xianfeng Li Naiheng Ma Haowei Wang 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,42,11:1

13Nerve growth factor affects focal cerebral cortical neuronal Bcl-2 and Bax expression in a mouse model of oxyhemoglobin-induced subarachnoid hemorrhage显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that oxyhemoglobin(OxyHb)can induce brain cell apoptosis in vivo. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of exogenous nerve growth factor(NGF)on cerebral cortical neuronal Bcl-2 and Bax expression in mice with OxyHb-induced subarachnoid hemorrhage. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A completely randomized grouping,controlled animal experiment was performed at the Experimental Center for Biomedicine,College of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University between February and April 2005. MATERIALS:Fifty-four healthy,male,adult,ICR mice were included in this study.Subarachnoid hemorrhage was induced by a subarachnoid injection of OxyHb in 48 mice.Mouse NGF was obtained from Xiamen Beidazhilu Bioengineering Co.,Ltd.,China. METHODS:All 54 mice were randomly divided into three groups:control(n=6),injury(n=24),and NGF (n=24).The NGF group received a subarachnoidal administration of OxyHb,immediately followed by a caudal vein injection of NGF(1μg).The injury group was injected with OxyHb,and subsequently with physiological saline.The control group only received intravenous physiological saline. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:At 1,6,24,and 48 hours following subarachnoid hemorrhage induction, expression levels of Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by immunohistochemistry in the cerebral cortex 3 mm anterior and posterior to the injection site. RESULTS:At all time points following OxyHb injection,cerebral cortical Bax levels were significantly higher in the injured group than in the control and NGF groups(P<0.01).During the first 24 hours following OxyHb injection,cerebral cortical Bcl-2 levels were significantly lower in the injury group compared to the control group(P<0.05-0.01).Between 1 and 48 hours,Bcl-2 levels were significantly higher in the NGF group than in the injury group(P<0.01).
