1Petrogenesis of the Neopro-terozoic bimodal volcanic rocks along the western margin of the Yangtze Block:New constraints from Hf isotopes and Fe/Mn ratios显示文摘High-precision major element and Hf isotope data are reported for the Neoproterozoic Suxiong volcanic rocks along the western margin of the Yangtze Block. These volcanic rocks have variable εHf(T) values and Fe/Mn ratios. The relatively primitive basalts have high Fe/Mn ratios and high Hf-Nd isotopic compositions, indicating that they were generated by partial melting of garnet clinopyroxene in mantle plume at high pressure. Thus, the Suxiong basalts are genetically related to the proposed Neoproterozoic super-plume. On the contrary, a few differentiated basalts have low Fe/Mn ratios and low Hf-Nd isotopic compositions. They are likely to experience assimilation-fractional crystallization process. The Suxiong rhyolites have consistent Hf and Nd model ages of 1.3―1.4 Ga. 2Collagen scaffolds modified with collagen-binding bFGF promotes the neural regeneration in a rat hemisected spinal cord injury model显示文摘Nerve conduit is one of strategies for spine cord injury(SCI)treatment.Recently,studies showed that biomaterials could guide the neurite growth and promote axon regeneration at the injury site.However,the scaffold by itself was difficult to meet the need of SCI functional recovery.The basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)administration significantly promotes functional recovery after organ injuries.Here,using a rat model of T9 hemisected SCI,we aimed at assessing the repair capacity of implantation of collagen scaffold(CS)modified by collagen binding bFGF(CBD-bFGF).The results showed that CS combined with CBD-bFGF treatment improved survival rates after the lateral hemisection SCI.The CS/CBD-bFGF group showed more significant improvements in motor than the simply CS-implanted and untreated control group,when evaluated by the 21-point Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan(BBB)score and footprint analysis.Both hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)and immunohistochemical staining of neurofilament(NF)and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)demonstrated that fibers were guided to grow through the implants.These findings indicated that administration of CS modified with CBD-bFGF could promote spinal cord regeneration and functional recovery.SHI Qin GAO Wei HAN XingLong ZHU XueSong SUN Jie XIE Fang HOU XiangLin YANG HuiLin DAI JianWu CHEN Liang 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:23
3Physiological responses of Populus euphratica Oliv. to groundwater table variations in the lower reaches of Heihe River, Northwest China显示文摘Riparian vegetation in the lower reaches of Heihe River serves important ecological functions. However, the riparian ecosystems have been constantly deteriorating in the past 30 years simply due to water interception for oasis agricultural irrigation in the middle reaches of the river. This study pays a particular attention to Populus euphratica Oliv. forest because it is a dominant component of the riparian ecosystem in the lower reaches of Heihe River where the depth of groundwater table is the controlling factor in sustaining riparian ecosystems. To reveal leaf-related physiological responses of Populus euphratica Oliv. forest to groundwater table variations, we analyzed the relationships between the depth of groundwater table (DG) and three leaf-related parameters, i.e. leaf stomatal density (SD), specific leaf area (SLA), and stable carbon isotopic composition (δ 13 C). Our results show that the relationship between DG and leaf SD is a bi-mode one shaped by both salt stress and water stress. That is, salt stress appeared in shallow groundwater conditions and water stress happened in deep groundwater conditions, and the thin layer around 2.7 m of DG is a stress-free layer. Leaf SD fluctuated according to the DG variation, first decreased with increasing DG, then increased at depths ranging 2.7-3.7 m, and after a relatively stable plateau of SD at depths ranging 3.7-5.2 m, decreased again with increasing DG. Our results also show that SLA decreased exponentially with increasing DG and foliar δ 13 C values are also strongly dependent on DG, further demonstrating that these two parameters are sensitive indicators of water stress. The exponential curve suggests that SLA is more sensitive to DG when groundwater table is shallow and 3 m seems to be a threshold beyond which SLA becomes less sensitive to DG. Foliar δ 13 C becomes more sensitive when the groundwater table is deep and 7 m seems to be a threshold below which the δ 13 C signature becomes more sensitive to DG. 4Multiple Components are Integrated to Determine Leaf Complexity in Lotus japonicus显示文摘Transcription factors and phytohormones have been reported to play crucial roles to regulate leaf complexity among plant species. Using the compound-leafed species Lotus japonicus, a model legume plant with five visible leaflets, we characterized four independent mutants with reduced leaf complexity, proliferating floral meristem (pfm), proliferating floral organ-2 (pfo-2), fused leaflets1 (ful1) and umbrella leaflets (uml), which were further identified as loss-of-function mutants of Arabidopsis orthologs LEAFY (LFY ), UNUSUAL FLORAL ORGANS (UFO), CUP-SHAPED COTYLEDON 2 (CUC2) and PIN-FORMED 1 (PIN1), respectively. Comparing the leaf development of wild-type and mutants by a scanning electron microscopy approach, leaflet initiation and/or dissection were found to be affected in these mutants. Expression and phenotype analysis indicated that PFM/LjLFY and PFO/LjUFO determined the basipetal leaflet initiation manner in L. japonicus. Genetic analysis of ful1 and uml mutants and their double mutants revealed that the CUC2-like gene and auxin pathway also participated in leaflet dissection in L. japonicus, and their functions might influence cytokinin biogenesis directly or indirectly. 5Characteristics of Late-Quaternary Activity and Seismic Risk of the Northeastern Section of the Longmenshan Fault Zone显示文摘Following the 2008 Wenchuan M8 earthquake,the seismic risk of the northeastern section of the Longmenshan fault zone and the adjacent Hanzhong basin has become an issue that receives much concern.It is facing,however,the problem of a lack of sufficient data because of little previous work in these regions.The northeastern section of the Longmenshan fault zone includes three major faults:the Qingchuan fault,Chaba-Lin’ansi fault,and Liangshan south margin fault,with the Hanzhong basin at the northern end.This paper presents investigations of the geometry,motion nature,and activity ages of these three faults,and reveals that they are strike slip with normal faulting,with latest activity in the Late Pleistocene.It implies that this section of the Longmenshan fault zone has been in an extensional setting,probably associated with the influence of the Hanzhong basin.Through analysis of the tectonic relationship between the Longmenshan fault zone and the Hanzhong basin,this work verifies that the Qingchuan fault played an important role in the evolution of the Hanzhong basin,and further studies the evolution model of this basin.Finally,with consideration of the tectonic setting of the Longmenshan fault zone and the Hanzhong basin as well as seismicity of surrounding areas,this work suggests that this region has no tectonic conditions for great earthquakes and only potential strong events in the future.WANG Mingming ZHOU Bengang YANG Xiaoping XIE Chao GAO Xianglin 2013Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,6:6
6Fiber soliton-form 3R regenerator and its performance analysis显示文摘A novel fiber optical 3R regenerator based on optical soliton-effect using highly nonlinear fiber is constructed and investigated for the needs of the high rate and long-haul optical communications. The propagation equation of the pulses in the proposed optical 3R regenerator with the control of optical modulator and filter is established. By the use of the variational approach, the evolution of the distorted optical pulses in the regenerator and the functions of reamplification, reshaping, and retiming are investigated. The relation between the construction parameters and the output performance of the regenerator is discussed. 7The influence of higher-order effects on the transmission performances of the ultra-short soliton pulses and its suppression method显示文摘Under the condition of the higher order effects, a propagation equation is established to investigate the way to suppress the soliton self frequency shift and timing jitter in the picosecond and femtosecond soliton communication system using a combined control method of time domain and frequency domain. By the use of the variational approach, the evolution of the chirping Gaussian quasi-soliton pulse is analyzed in the presence of the effects including third order dispersion, intrapulse Raman scattering (IRS), and self steepening. Considering the soliton evolution properties and the mechanism of the timing jitter under the higher-order effects, the combined control method is adopted to eliminate the influence from Raman scattering and self-steepening. The soliton central frequency is stabilized and the timing jitter is suppressed effectively. A 160 Gb/s long-haul soliton transmission system is designed and its performance is numerically simulated. 8A comparative investigation into floatability of bastnaesite with three di/trialkyl phosphate surfactants显示文摘Flotation separation and recovery of rare earth minerals(REM) have returned to an important position due to the growing strategy demand for rare earth elements(REE).In this paper,a comparative investigation into the floatability of bastnaesite((Ce,La)FCO3) was conducted by using three di/trialkyl phosphate collectors,di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate(DEHPA),dibutyl phosphate(DBP) and tributyl phosphate(TBP).The density functional theory(DFT) computation recommends that the chemical activity of the three phosphate collectors is in order of DEHPA≥ DBP >> TBP,and their hydrophobization assuggested by the IgP(oil-water partition coefficient) value is in the order of DEHPA> TBP> DBP.The micro-flotation indicates that the preferable pH values for flotation of bastnaesite with the three phosphate collectors are 7.0-8.0,and DEHPA achieves much higher flotation recovery of bastnaesite,followed by DBP,and then TBP,which coincides with their reactivity and hydrophobicity,the two prerequisites for froth flotation.The contact angle,zeta potential,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) deduce that DEHPA likely reacts with the Ce(Ⅲ)atoms of bastnaesite interface through its O atom(s) of the P(=O)-O-group to generate the Ce-O-P bonds,and its two 2-ethylhexyl groups orient outside for attaching bubbles,resulting in flotation enrichment of bastnaesite.Furthermore,this investigation offers a novel strategy for developing collectors in selective beneficiation of REM.Hongli Fan Xianglin Yang Jing Qi Guangyi Liu Jingqin Qin 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,11:3

12Thermo-responsive stick-slip behavior of advancing water contact angle on the surfaces of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-grafted polypropylene membranes显示文摘Wettability of a solid surface is highly important to its practical application,especially for the surface that shows thermoresponsive properties.In this paper,we describe a thermo-responsive stick-slip behavior of water droplets on the surfaces of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM)-grafted polypropylene membranes.Field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM) images elucidate that the morphology of PNIPAM-grafted membrane surface is thermo-responsive,i.e.,the surface becomes rougher above the lower critical solution temperature(LCST) of PNIPAM.On the surface of nascent polypropylene membranes,the water droplet shows a smooth motion resulting in advancing and receding water contact angles of 111° and ~65°,respectively.On the PNIPAM-grafted membrane surfaces,the water droplet shows a stick-slip pattern above the LCST,whereas it advances smoothly below the LCST.This phenomenon is reproducible and can be ascribed to the energy barriers enhanced by the shrink of PNIPAM chains above the LCST.We also find that the slip contact angle decreases from 102° to 92° after several stick-slip cycles.This decrease is attributed to the water adsorption on the grafted PNIPAM layer,which is confirmed by the continuous decrease of the receding water contact angle.WAN LingShu,MENG XiangLin,YANG YunFeng,TIAN Jing & XU ZhiKang Key Laboratory of Macromolecular Synthesis and Functionalization,Ministry of Education Department of Polymer Science and Engineering,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2010Science China Chemistry2010,53,1:2
13Dietary butyrate,lauric acid and stearic acid improve gut morphology and epithelial cell turnover in weaned piglets显示文摘This study was to evaluate the effects of the supplementation of saturated fatty acids with different chain lengths on growth performance,intestinal morphology,epithelial cell proliferation,differentiation and apoptosis in weaned piglets.Thirty-two weaned piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire,BW=7.81±0.26 kg)were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to 1 of 4 experimental treatments:(1)a basal diet(control);(2)control+0.3% butyrate(BT);(3)control+0.3%lauric acid(LA);(4)control+0.3% stearic acid(SA).All piglets were then slaughtered for tissue sampling after having been fed experimental diets for 28 d after weaning.Supplementation of BT increased the gain-to-feed ratio(G:F)(P<0.05)compared to piglets fed the control diet from 14 to 28 d.In addition,the villus height(VH)to crypt depth(CD)ratio(VH:CD ratio)of the ileum were higher in the BT and LA diets than that of the control diet(P<0.05).The SA-supplemented diet increased ileal VH(P<0.05),whereas the BT-supplemented diet increased jejunal CD(P<0.05).Compared to the control,diets supplemented with BT,LA,or SA all tended to increase jejunal proliferation(Ki67/crypt positive cells)(P=0.190);diets supplemented with BT or SA significantly increased the number of ki67-positive cells in the ileal crypt(P<0.05).Furthermore,in the jejunum,the protein expression of activated caspase 3 and villin were increased in piglets fed BT,LA,or SA diets compared to those on the control diet(P<0.05).In the ileum,compared with the control diet,the BT diet tended to increase the protein level of mammalian phosphorylation target of rapamycin(p-m TOR,P<0.10);LA or SA diets significantly increased p-m TOR protein expression(P<0.05).These results show that dietary supplementation of BT,LA,or SA promotes jejunal cell renewal in weaned piglets.At the same time,increased proliferation of ileal crypt cells by promoting p-m TOR expression has beneficial effects on ileal morphology in weaned piglets.Xianglin Zeng Yuan Yang Junmin Wang Zhaobin Wang Jun Li Yulong Yin Huansheng Yang 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,4:2

16Weakened interlayer coupling in two-dimensional MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations显示文摘The screw dislocations are intriguing defects that are often observed in natural and artificial materials. The dislocation spirals break the reflection and inversion symmetries of the lattices and modify the interlayer coupling in layer-structured materials, inducing additional complexity in layer stacking and thus novel properties in materials. Here, we report on the interlayer coupling of two-dimensional (2D) MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. By controlling the supersaturation conditions, 2D MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocations are grown on amorphous SiO2 substrates by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). AFM measurements reveal that the interlayer spacing in such 2D MoSe2 flakes with screw dislocation is slightly widened with respect to the normal AA- or AB-stacked ones due to the presence of the screw dislocations. Raman and PL spectra show that the interlayer coupling is weaker and thus the band gap is wider than that in the normal AA- or AB-stacked ones. 17Effects of zinc on χ-Fe_(5)C_(2) for carbon dioxide hydrogenation to olefins:Insights from experimental and density function theory calculations显示文摘Production of light olefins from CO_(2), the primary greenhouse gases, is of great importance to mitigate the adverse effects of CO_(2) emission on environment and to supply the value-added products from nonpetroleum resource. However, development of robust catalyst with controllable selectivity and stability remains a challenge. Herein, we report that Zn-promoted Fe catalyst can boost the stable and selective production of light olefins from CO_(2). Specifically, the Zn-promoted Fe exhibits a highly stable activity and olefin selectivity over 200 h time-on-stream compared to the unpromoted Fe catalyst, primarily owing to the preservation of active χ-Fe_(5)C_(2) phase. Structural characterizations of the spent catalysts suggest that Zn substantially regulates the content of iron carbide on the surface and suppresses the reoxidation of bulk iron carbide during the reaction. DFT calculations confirm that adsorption of surface carbon atoms and graphene-like carbonaceous species are not thermochemically favored on Zn-promoted Fe catalyst. Carbon deposition by CAC coupling reactions of two surface carbon atoms and dehydrogenation of CH intermediate are also inhibited. Furthermore, the effects of Zn on antioxidation of iron carbide were also investigated.
