6Taxonomic Studies on a New Marine Ciliate, Apocoleps magnus gen. nov., spec. nov. (Ciliophora, Colepidae), Isolated from Qingdao, China显示文摘The morphology and infraciliature of a new marine colepid ciliate, Apocoleps magnus gen. nov., spec. nov., are described based on living observations and silver impregnations. The new genus Apocoleps is characterized by having 8 (vs. 6 in most other related genera) armour tiers, spines at both ends of the cell, 3 adoral organelles and plates with 4 reniform uni-windows. Apocoleps magnus spec. nov. is defined by the following features: body elongated and slightly curved, about 100–120μm× 35–45 μm in vivo; anterior tertiary tier plate with four uni-windows, most secondary and main tier plates with four uni-windows, posterior tertiary tier plate with two uni-windows; left plate margin slightly serrated; on average 23 transverse and 22 longitudinal ciliary rows; one terminal contractile vacuole; marine habitat.CHEN Xiangrui Alan Warren SONG Weibo 2009Journal of Ocean University of China2009,8,4:1
7Preparation of bunched CeO_(2) and study on microwave absorbing properties with MWCNTs binary composite显示文摘A novel bunched cerium oxide(CeO_(2))was prepared and its binary composite material with multi-walled carbon nanotubes presented an excellent microwave absorbing properties.The morphology,structure,and absorbing properties of the composite material were investigated.It was found that the minimum reflection loss(RL)of the composite material at 15.79 GHz was−45.7 dB when the thickness was 5.5 mm.It was worth noting that when the composite material was in the thickness range of 5.0-7.5 mm and the frequency was 11.36-17.77 GHz,the electromagnetic wave RL was<−30 dB,which illustrated that the composite material had a good absorbing effect over a wide thickness range.The results of the study contributed to the design and preparation of efficient microwave absorbing materials(MAM)with rare earth oxide composites and their applications,which demonstrated the importance of new composites with special structures in the field of MAM.Yingjie Guo Xiangrui Song Sihang Ma Yinghe Qi Xiaotao Yuan Huili Fan 2023Particuology2023,,2:0
8New contributions to the phylogeny of the ciliate class Heterotrichea(Protista,Ciliophora):analyses at family-genus level and new evolutionary hypotheses显示文摘Heterotrichous ciliates play an important role in aquatic ecosystem energy flow processes and many are model organisms for research in cytology,regenerative biology,and toxicology.In the present study,we combine both morphological and molecular data to infer phylogenetic relationships at family-genus level and propose new evolutionary hypotheses for the class Heterotrichea.The main results include:(1)96 new ribosomal DNA sequences from 36 populations,representing eight families and 13 genera,including three poorly annotated genera,Folliculinopsis,Ampullofolliculina and Linostomella;(2)the earliest-branching families are Spirostomidae in single-gene trees and Peritromidae in the concatenated tree,but the family Peritromidae probably represents the basal lineage based on its possession of many'primitive'morphological characters;(3)some findings in molecular trees are not supported by morphological evidence,such as the family Blepharismidae is one of the most recent branches and the relationship between Fabreidae and Folliculinidae is very close;(4)the systematic positions of Condylostomatidae,Climacostomidae,and Gruberiidae remain uncertain based either on morphological or molecular data;and(5)the monophyly of each genus included in the present study is supported by the molecular phylogenetic trees,except for Blepharisma in the SSU r DNA tree and Folliculina in the ITS1-5.8 S-ITS2 tree.Yong Chi Xiangrui Chen Yuqing Li Chundi Wang Tengteng Zhang Alex Ayoub Alan Warren Weibo Song Yuanyuan Wang 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,4:0
9A new contribution to the taxonomy and phylogeny of the ciliate genus Spirostomum(Alveolata,Ciliophora,Heterotrichea),with comprehensive descriptions of two species from wetlands in China显示文摘Species of the ciliate genus Spirostomum Ehrenberg,1834 are distributed worldwide and have a research history spanning more than two centuries.However,species delimitation and phylogenetic relationships within this genus are still uncertain due to the paucity of stable morphologic characters for species separation and the unavailability of accompanying morphological data for most molecular sequences in public databases.In the present study,S.yagiui Shigenaka,1959(three populations)and S.caudatum(Müller,1786)Delphy,1939(one population)were investigated using morphological and molecular methods for the first time in China.Detailed morphological data for the two species were documented,and improved diagnoses were supplied based on a combination of previous studies and the current work.It should be highlighted that there were three different atypical morphotypes identified in a Ningbo population of S.yagiui which may represent various stages in conjugative reproduction.Molecular phylogenies based on 18S,ITS1-5.8S-ITS2,and 28S rRNA gene sequences show that the genus Spirostomum is monophyletic,however,the internal relationships inferred from different genes were poorly resolved but suggest that the species with a moniliform macronucleus comprise an early-diverging clade within this genus.Finally,the global distribution of Spirostomum is summarized based on previous and present studies.Yong Chi Zhe Wang Tingting Ye Ya Wang Junli Zhao Weibo Song William A.Bourland Xiangrui Chen 2022Water Biology and Security2022,1,2:0
10Preventive and therapeutic benefits of nelfinavir in rhesus macaques and human beings infected with SARS-CoV-2显示文摘Effective drugs with broad spectrum safety profile to all people are highly expected to combat COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2.Here we report that nelfinavir,an FDA approved drug for the treatment of HIV infection,is effective against SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.Preincubation of nelfinavir could inhibit the activity of the main protease of the SARS-CoV-2(IC50=8.26μM),while its antiviral activity in Vero E6 cells against a clinical isolate of SARS-CoV-2 was determined to be 2.93μM(EC50).In comparison with vehicle-treated animals,rhesus macaque prophylactically treated with nelfinavir had significantly lower temperature and significantly reduced virus loads in the nasal and anal swabs of the animals.At necropsy,nelfinavir-treated animals had a significant reduction of the viral replication in the lungs by nearly three orders of magnitude.A prospective clinic study with 37 enrolled treatment-naive patients at Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center,which were randomized(1:1)to nelfinavir and control groups,showed that the nelfinavir treatment could shorten the duration of viral shedding by 5.5 days(9.0 vs.14.5 days,P=0.055)and the duration of fever time by 3.8 days(2.8 vs.6.6 days,P=0.014)in mild/moderate COVID-19 patients.The antiviral efficiency and clinical benefits in rhesus macaque model and in COVID-19 patients,together with its well-established good safety profile in almost all ages and during pregnancy,indicated that nelfinavir is a highly promising medication with the potential of preventative effect for the treatment of COVID-19.Zhijian Xu Danrong Shi Jian-Bao Han Yun Ling Xiangrui Jiang Xiangyun Lu Chuan Li Likun Gong Guangbo Ge Yani Zhang Yi Zang Tian-Zhang Song Xiao-Li Feng Ren-Rong Tian Jia Ji Miaojin Zhu Nanping Wu Chunhui Wu Zhen Wang Yechun Xu Cheng Peng Min Zheng Junling Yang Feifei Du Junliang Wu Peipei Wang Jingshan Shen Jianliang Zhang Yong-Tang Zheng Hangping Yao Weiliang Zhu 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,5:0
11Increased Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Activity Positively Correlates with Mortality in Heart Failure Patients with Preserved Ejection Fraction:Evidence from Metabolomics显示文摘Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids(EETs)have pleiotropic endogenous cardiovascular protective effects and can be hydrolyzed to the corresponding dihydroxyeicosatrienoic acids by soluble epoxide hydrolase(sEH).Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFpEF)has shown an increased prevalence and worse prognosis over the decades.However,the role of sEH activ-ity in HFpEF remains unclear.We enrolled 500 patients with HFpEF and 500 healthy controls between February 2010 and March 2016.Eight types of sEH-related eicosanoids were measured according to target metabolomics,and their correlation with clinical endpoints was also analyzed.The primary endpoint was cardiac mortality,and the secondary endpoint was a composite of cardiac events,including heart failure(HF)readmission,cardiogenic hospitalization,and all-cause mortal-ity.Furthermore,the effect of sEH inhibitors on cardiac diastolic function in HFpEF was investigated in vivo and in vitro.Patients with HFpEF showed significantly enhanced EET degradation by the sEH enzyme compared with healthy controls.More importantly,sEH activity was positively correlated with cardiac mortality in patients with HFpEF,especially in older patients with arrhythmia.A consistent result was obtained in the multiple adjusted models.Decreased sEH activity by the sEH inhibitor showed a significant effective effect on the improvement of cardiac diastolic function by ameliorating lipid disorders in cardiomyocytes of HFpEF mouse model.This study demonstrated that increased sEH activity was associated with cardiac mortality in patients with HFpEF and suggested that sEH inhibition could be a promising therapeutic strategy to improve diastolic cardiac function.Clinical trial identifier:NCT03461107(https://clini caltr ials.gov).Liyuan Peng Ziping Song Chengcheng Zhao Kudusi Abuduwufuer Yanwen Wang Zheng Wen Li Ni Chenze Li Ying Yu Yi Zhu Hualiang Jiang Jinshan Shen Xiangrui Jiang Chen Chen Xu Zhang Dao Wen Wang 2023Phenomics2023,3,1:0
