| 1 | Trophic Ecology of Sharks in the Mid-East Pacific Ocean Inferred from Stable Isotopes显示文摘As apex predators, sharks are of ecological and conservation importance in marine ecosystems. In this study, trophic positions of sharks were estimated using stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen for five representative species caught by the Chinese longline fleet in the mid-east Pacific, i.e., the blue shark(Prionace glauca), the bigeye thresher shark(Alopias superciliosus), the silky shark(Carcharhinus falciformis), the scalloped hammerhead(Sphyrna lewini), and the oceanic whitetip shark(Carcharhinus longimanus). Of these species, oceanic whitetip shark has the lowest trophic level and mean δ15N value(3.9 and 14.93‰± 0.84‰), whereas bigeye thresher shark has the highest level/values(4.5 and 17.02‰± 1.21‰, respectively). The bigeye thresher shark has significantly higher δ15N value than other shark species, indicating its higher trophic position. The blue shark and oceanic whitetip shark has significantly higher δ13C values than bigeye thresher shark, silky shark and scalloped hammerhead, possibly due to different diets and/or living habitats. | 2 | Determination of physical properties for the mixtures of [BMIM]Cl with different organic solvents显示文摘Physical properties including refractive index, density, viscosity and conductivity for binary mixtures of 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride([BMIM]Cl) and different organic solvents at 298.15 K have been investigated. Excess molar volumes have been calculated and obtained data has been fitted by the Redlich–Kister equation. The density and refractive index were found to increase with increasing concentration of [BMIM]Cl, however, exceptions do exist as in the case of dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)/[BMIM]Cl. For DMSO/[BMIM]Cl, the density decreases with increasing concentration. The addition of different organic solvents was able to disrupt the interactions within mixtures, leading to free mobility of ions. The free mobility of ions has been found to enhance conductivity and decrease viscosity to varying extents in all mixtures studied. | 3 | Poly(PEGMA) magnetic nanogels:Preparation via photochemical method,characterization and application as drug carrier显示文摘One-pot synthesis of magnetic nanogels with excellent biocompatibility via the photochemical method is reported in this paper.Poly(PEGMA) modified superparamagnetic nanogels(poly(PEGMA) magnetic nanogels) were synthesized by in-situ polymerization using poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate(PEGMA) as the monomer and N,N'-methylene-bis-(acrylamide)(MBA) as the cross-linking agent in magnetite aqueous suspension under UV irradiation.The surface functional groups and components of magnetic nanogels were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and a thermogra-vimetric analyzer(TGA).The results indicated that the poly(PEGMA) magnetic nanogels were synthe-sized successfully by coating poly(PEGMA) on the Fe3O4 nanoparticles under UV irradiation,and the Fe3O4 nanoparticles content in this nanogels was above 50 wt%.The morphology,size,zeta-potential and magnetic property were also characterized.The magnetic nanogels had a nearly spherical shape and core-shell structure,the average size in aqueous system measured by photon correlation spec-troscopy(PCS) was 68.4 nm,which was much bigger than that in the dry state,the nanogels behaved superparamagnetically with saturated magnetization of 58.6 emu/g,and the zeta-potential was-16.3-_17.3 mV at physiological pH(6.8-7.4) which could help to maintain stability in blood.The preliminary application as drug carrier was made and the doxorubicin-loaded magnetic nanogels had an excellent property in slow-release.The experiment indicated that the magnetic nanogel was an ideal candidate carrier in target drug delivery systems and other biomedical application. | SUN HanWen ZHANG LianYing ZHU XinJun KONG ChunYan ZHANG CunLan YAO SiDe | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,1: | 2 |
| 4 | Operational-space wrench and acceleration capability analysis for multi-link cable-driven robots显示文摘Multi-link cable-driven robots(MCDRs)have potential advantages in confined spaces exploration because of their redundancy and flexibility.Operational space wrench and acceleration capability analysis of MCDRs is important for their design,manipulability optimization,and motion planning.However,existing works mainly focus on capability analysis in the joint space.In this paper,we present a zonotope-based iterative method and a simplified capability zonotope to analyze the operational-space wrench and acceleration capability of MCDRs.In the iterative method,the capability generated by some cables can be iteratively added to the initial capability zonotope based on the Minkowski sum.In the simplified zonotope capability representation,a threshold is put forward to reduce redundant vertices and faces with little volume loss.Finally,simulations on a 24 DOFs MCDR are performed to verify the effectiveness of the developed method.The results demonstrate that our iterative algorithm can easily generate the capability zonotope with a few MB ROM,while traditional operational wrench capability evaluation without our iterative algorithm needs 18432 GB ROM.Furthermore,our simplified representation reduces the vertices and faces from 1260 and 2516 to 88 and 172,respectively,but with only 3.3%volume loss,which decreases the constraints of the robot and is conducive to manipulability optimization and motion planning. | SHENG XinJun TANG Lei HUANG XinJia ZHU LiMin ZHU XiangYang GU GuoYing | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,10: | 1 |

| 8 | Soft ionic-hydrogel electrodes for electroencephalography signal recording显示文摘Wet gel electrodes have been widely used for electroencephalography(EEG) signal recording, which generally causes skin abrasion and longer preparation time. In this paper, we present soft ionic-hydrogel based electrodes to overcome such drawbacks.In order to conveniently measure the EEG signals, we design the claw-like and patch-like structures for robust connection between metal(Ag/Ag Cl) electrodes and skin scalps. Next, we experimentally show that the soft ionic-hydrogel based electrodes have similar performance with the conventional wet gel electrodes in terms of the short-circuit noise, electrical impedance, and skin-electrode contact impedance on unprepared human skin, significantly better than dry electrodes and water-based electrodes.We further perform the EEG measurements and steady-state visual evoked potentials(SSVEP) experiments with five subjects to verify the effectiveness of the soft ionic-hydrogel based electrodes. | 16 | Evaluating effectiveness of biological reference points for bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) and yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) fisheries in the Indian Ocean显示文摘Biological reference point(BRP)is one of the essential components in the management strategy evaluation that is used to determine the status of fishery stock and set management regulations.However,as BRPs can be derived from different models and many different BRPs are available,the effectiveness and consistency of different BRPs should be evaluated before being applied to fisheries management.In this study,we used a computation-intensive approach to identify optimal BRPs.We systematically evaluated 1500 combinations of alternative BRPs in managing the bigeye tuna(Thunnus obesus)and yellowfin tuna(Thunnus albacares)fisheries in the Indian Ocean.The effectiveness and consistency of these BRPs were evaluated using four performance measures related to fisheries landing performance and biomass conservation.Monte Carlo simulation was used to evaluate various uncertainties.The results suggest that the proposed computation-intensive approach can be effective in identifying optimal BRPs with respect to a set of defined performance measures.We found that the current maximum sustainable yield(MSY)-based BRP combinations are effective target BRPs to manage the bigeye and yellowfin tuna fisheries with the“linear”harvest control rule(HCR).However,using the“knife-edge”HCR,better BRPs could be found for both the bigeye and yellowfin tuna fisheries management with improved fisheries and conservation performance.The framework developed in this study can be used to identify suitable BRPs based on a set of defined performance measures for other fisheries. | Yuying Zhang Yong Chen Jiangfeng Zhu Siquan Tian Xinjun Chen | 2017 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2017,2,2: | 1 |
