1Impacts of LUCC processes on potential land productivity in China in the 1990s显示文摘Using meteorological data and RS dynamic land-use observation data set, the po-tential land productivity that is limited by solar radiation and temperature is estimated and the impacts of recent LUCC processes on it are analyzed in this paper. The results show that the influence of LUCC processes on potential land productivity change has extensive and unbal-anced characteristics. It generally reduces the productivity in South China and increases it in North China, and the overall effect is increasing the total productivity by 26.22 million tons. The farmland reclamation and original farmlands losses are the primary causes that led potential land productivity to change. The reclamation mostly distributed in arable-pasture and arable-forest transitional zones and oasises in northwestern China has made total productivity increase by 83.35 million tons, accounting for 3.50% of the overall output. The losses of original farmlands driven by built-up areas invading and occupying arable land are mostly distributed in the regions which have rapid economic development, e.g. Huang-Huai-Hai plain, Yangtze River delta, Zhu-jiang delta, central part of Gansu, southeast coastal region, southeast of Sichuan Basin and Urumqi-Shihezi. 2Insulin improves cardiac myocytes contractile function recovery in simulated ischemia-reperfusion:Key role of Akt显示文摘The present study examined cardiac myocytecontractile and Ca2+ transient responses to insulin duringsimulated ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) and furtherinvestigated the role of protein kinase B (Akt) in the insulin-induced inotropic effect. Ventricular myocytes wereenzymatically isolated from adult Sprague-Dawley rats and perfused with Tyrode solution while electrically field-stimulated. Simulated I/R was induced by perfusing the cells with chemical anoxic solution including sodiumcyanide-sodium lactate for 15 min followed by reperfusionwith normal oxygenated Tyrode solution with or withoutinsulin. It is found that insulin only at concentration as high as 10 IU/L could increase cell shortening (16±5%, P < 0.05) in normal myocytes, whereas it concentration-dependently (0.01—10 IU/L) increased the contraction,the velocity ofshortening/releng- thening and Ca2+ transient in I/Rmyocytes. In addition, insulin treatment (1 IU/L) increasedAkt phosphorylation of I/R cardiomyocytes by 2.4-foldcompared with that of the control (P < 0.01). Mostimportantly, pretreatment with LY 294002, a specificinhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3′-kinase (PI3-kinase), significantly inhibited both Akt phosphorylation and thepositive inotropic response to insulin in the I/Rcardiomyocytes. These results suggest that insulin exertsdirect positive inotropic effect by increasing Ca2+ transient of cardiomyocytes, which is enhanced in the pathologicalcondition of I/R. 3On-chip programmable pulse processor employing cascaded MZI-MRR structure显示文摘Optical pulse processor meets the urgent demand for high-speed,ultra wideband devices,which can avoid electrical confinements in various fields,e.g.,alloptical communication,optical computing technology,cohcrcnt control and microwave fields.To date,great efforts have been madc particularly in on-chip programmable pulse proccessing.Here,we experimentally demonstrate a programmable pulse proceesor employing 16cascaded Mach-Zehnder interferometer coupled microring resonator(MZI-MRR)structure based on silicon-oninsulator wafer.With micro-heaters loaded to the device,both amplitude and frequency tunings can be realized in each MZI-MRR unit.Thanks to its reconfigurability and integration ability,First,it can serve as a fractional differentiator whose tuning range is 0.51-2.23 with deviation no more than 7%.Second,the device can be tuned into a programmable optical filter whose bandwidth varies from 0.15to 0.97nm.The optical filter is also shape tunable.Especially,15-channel wavelength selective switches are generated.Yuhe ZHAO Xu WANG Dingshan GAO Jianji DONG Xinliang ZHANG 2019Frontiers of Optoelectronics2019,12,2:9
4Wideband adaptive microwave frequency identification using an integrated silicon photonic scanning filter显示文摘Photonic-assisted microwave frequency identification with distinct features, including wide frequency coverage and fast tunability, has been conceived as a key technique for applications such as cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access. The implementations based on compact integrated photonic chips have exhibited distinct advantages in footprint miniaturization, light weight, and low power consumption, in stark contrast with discrete optical-fiber-based realization. However, reported chip-based instantaneous frequency measurements can only operate at a single-tone input, which stringently limits their practical applications that require wideband identification capability in modern RF and microwave applications. In this article, we demonstrate, for the first time, a wideband, adaptive microwave frequency identification solution based on a silicon photonic integrated chip,enabling the identification of different types of microwave signals from 1 to 30 GHz, including single-frequency,multiple-frequency, chirped-frequency, and frequency-hopping microwave signals, and even their combinations.The key component is a high Q-factor scanning filter based on a silicon microring resonator, which is used to implement frequency-to-time mapping. 5Compact and broadband multimode waveguide bend by shape-optimizing with transformation optics显示文摘Multimode waveguide bend is one of the key components for realizing high-density mode-division multiplexing systems on chip.However,the reported multimode waveguide bends are either large,bandwidth-limited or fabrication-complicated,which hinders their applications in future high-density multimode photonic circuits.Here we propose a compact multimode waveguide bend supporting four TE modes simply by shape-optimizing with transformation optics.The shape of the waveguide is optimized in the virtual space with gradient distribution of the refractive index,so that the scattering loss and intermode cross talk are well suppressed.After conformal mapping back into the physical space,a compact(effective radius of 17μm)multimode bending waveguide is obtained.Simulations show that the proposed multimode waveguide bend has little loss(<0.1 dB)and low cross talk(<−20 dB)throughout an ultrabroad wavelength range of 1.16–1.66μm.We also fabricated the shape-optimized multimode bending waveguide on a silicon-on-insulator wafer.At 1550 nm wavelength,the measured excess losses for the four lowest-order TE modes are less than 0.6 dB,and the intermode cross talks are all below−17 dB.Our study paves the way for realizing high-density and large-scale multimode integrated optical circuits for optical interconnect.SHUYI LI LIFENG CAI DINGSHAN GAO JIANJI DONG JIN HOU CHUNYONG YANG SHAOPING CHEN XINLIANG ZHANG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,12:3
6Effect of nickel on ion-selective property of rust formed on low-alloying weathering steel显示文摘The effect of nickel on the ion-selective property of the rust layers formed on the low alloy weathering steels under marine atmosphere was investigated by an alternate wet-dry accelerated corrosion test.Four types of low-alloying steels with different Ni contents were prepared for the corrosion test.The rust formed at various stages of corrosion was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectra(EIS),electron microprobe analysis(EMPA) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Afterwards,the corrosion resistance property of the rust was studied in the light of the experimental results.It is shown that increasing Ni content has significantly improved the corrosion resistance of the low-alloying steels under marine atmosphere.Furthermore,it is noted that an evident cation-selective property emerges in the rust layers with the Ni content of the rust layers up to 1.82%.However,when the Ni content of steel the matrix is below 1.5%,it has little effect on the cation-selective property.The ratio of Ni content in between the rust layer and the steel substrate decreases with the increase of Ni content in the steel substrate and varies little as the corrosion proceeds.Xinliang GAO Guiqin FU Miaoyong ZHU 2012Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2012,25,4:2
7In situ evidence of resonant interactions between energetic electrons and whistler waves in magnetopause reconnection显示文摘In this paper,we analyze one reconnection event observed by the Magnetospheric Multiscale(MMS)mission at the earth’s magnetopause.In this event,the spacecraft crossed the reconnection current sheet from the magnetospheric side to the magnetosheath side,and whistler waves were observed on both the magnetospheric and magnetosheath sides.On the magnetospheric side,the whistler waves propagated quasi-parallel to the magnetic field and toward the X-line,while on the magnetosheath side they propagated almost anti-parallel to the magnetic field and away from the X-line.Associated with the enhancement of the whistler waves,we find that the fluxes of energetic electrons are concentrated around the pitch angle 90°when their energies are higher than the minimum energy that is necessary for the resonant interactions between the energetic electrons and whistler waves.This observation provides in situ observational evidence of resonant interactions between energetic electrons and whistler waves in the magnetic reconnection.Zhi Li QuanMing Lu RongSheng Wang XinLiang Gao HuaYue Chen 2019Earth and Planetary Physics2019,3,6:2

13Enhanced optical nonlinearity in a silicon–organic hybrid slot waveguide for all-optical signal processing显示文摘Silicon photonic integrated devices used for nonlinear optical signal processing play a key role in ultrafast switching,computing,and modern optical communications.However,current devices suffer from limited operation speeds and low conversion efficiencies due to the intrinsically low nonlinear index of silicon.In this paper,we experimentally demonstrate enhanced optical nonlinearity in a silicon–organic hybrid slot waveguide consisting of an ultranarrow slot waveguide coated with a highly nonlinear organic material.The fabricated slot area is as narrow as 45 nm,which is,to the best of our knowledge,the narrowest slot width that has been experimentally reported in silicon slot waveguides.The nonlinear coefficient of the proposed device with a length of 3 mm is measured to be up to 1.43×10^(6) W^(-1)km^(-1).Based on the nanostructure design,the conversion efficiencies of degenerate four-wave mixing showed enhancements of more than 12 dB and 5 dB compared to those measured for an identical device without the organic material and a silicon strip waveguide,respectively.As a proof of concept,all-optical canonical logic units based on the prepared device with two inputs at 40 Gb/s are analyzed.The obtained logic results showed clear temporal waveforms and wide-open eye diagrams with error-free performance,illustrating that our device has great potential for use in high-speed all-optical signal processing and high-performance computing in the nodes and terminals of optical networks.YONGHUA WANG SU HE XIAOYAN GAO PIAOPIAO YE LEI LEI WENCHAN DONG XINLIANG ZHANG PING XU 2022Photonics Research2022,10,1:1

16Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion:Scientific Research and Clinical Application显示文摘刘明耀教授是多伦多大学临床医学研究生院院长、外科教授、资深科学家,主要从事肺移植的临床与科研工作。主持科研课题27项,主要参与课题10项,曾荣获伊丽莎白二世女王钻石禧年奖章。其所在的多伦多大学总医院于1983年和1986年分别完成了世界首例成功的单肺及双肺移植,肺移植的相关临床及科研水平处于世界第一位。近年来成功研发了体外肺灌注装置(ex-vivo lung perfusion,EVLP),200多例经临床鉴定不可使用的肺脏经过此装置修复后已经成功用于移植,效果甚佳,引起全球轰动。EVLP是一种新型的肺脏体外灌注技术,可以在体外为供肺提供通气和血供,并可在灌注期间对供肺进行快速的功能评估和干预治疗。因此,EVLP技术可在移植前有效延长供肺保存时间,提高供肺质量,为受损伤供肺,尤其是边缘性供肺提供了体外修复的可能,可显著增加适合移植的供肺数量,提高边缘供肺的利用率,有效缓解供肺短缺的现状。刘明耀教授团队已协助全球包括我国在内的多家医疗中心开展肺移植的临床及科研工作,其中EVLP装置的深入研发及多中心临床试验也是刘教授团队与天津市第一中心医院沈中阳教授团队合作承担的国家国际科技合作专项项目的主要研究内容之一,无锡人民医院陈静瑜教授团队也参与了研究,将对我国肺移植的发展起到积极的促进作用。Xinliang Gao Wei Liu Mingyao Liu 2017实用器官移植电子杂志2017,5,3:1

18On-surface synthesis and edge states of NBN-doped zigzag graphene nanoribbons显示文摘Zigzag graphene nanoribbons(ZGNRs)with spin-polarized edge states have potential applications in carbon-based spintronics.The electronic structure of ZGNRs can be effectively tuned by different widths or dopants,which requires delicately designed monomers.Here,we report the successful synthesis of ZGNR with a width of eight carbon zigzag lines and nitrogen-boronnitrogen(NBN)motifs decorated along the zigzag edges(NBN-8-ZGNR)on Au(111)surface,which starts from a specially designed U-shaped monomer with preinstalled NBN units at the zigzag edge.Chemical-bond-resolved non-contact atomic force microscopy(nc-AFM)imaging confirms the zigzag-terminated edges and the existence of NBN dopants.The electronic states distributed along the zigzag edges have been revealed after a silicon-layer intercalation at the interface of NBN-8-ZGNR and Au(111).Our work enriches the ZGNR family with a new dopant and larger width,which provides more candidates for future carbonbased nanoelectronic and spintronic applications.Xiao Chang Li Huang Yixuan Gao Yubin Fu Ji Ma Huan Yang Junzhi Liu Xiaoshuai Fu Xiao Lin Xinliang Feng Shixuan Du Hong-Jun Gao 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0

20Ray-tracing simulations of whistler-mode wave propagation in different rescaled dipole magnetic fields显示文摘Kinetic simulation is a powerful tool to study the excitation and propagation of whistler-mode waves in the Earth’s inner magnetosphere.This method typically applies a scaled-down dipole magnetic field to save computational time.However,it remains unknown whether whistler wave propagation in the scaled-down dipole field is consistent with that in the realistic dipole field.In this work,we develop a ray-tracing code with a scalable dipole magnetic field to address this concern.The simulation results show that parallel whistler waves at different frequencies gradually become oblique after leaving the equator and propagate in different raypaths in a dipole magnetic field.During their propagation,the higher frequency waves tend to have larger wave normal angles at the same latitude.Compared with the wave propagation in a realistic dipole field,the wave raypath and wave normal remain the same,whereas the wave amplification or attenuation is smaller because of the shorter propagation time in a scaled-down dipole field.Our study provides significant guidance for kinetic simulations of whistler-mode waves.YangGuang Ke QuanMing Lu XinLiang Gao HuaYue Chen Rui Chen 2022Earth and Planetary Physics2022,6,6:0
