| 1 | Predicting Cadmium Safety Thresholds in Soils Based on Cadmium Uptake by Chinese Cabbage显示文摘Cadmium(Cd), a common toxic heavy metal in soil, has relatively high bioavailability, which seriously threatens agricultural products. In this study, 8 different soils with contrasting soil properties were collected from different regions in China to investigate the Cd transfer coefficient from soil to Chinese cabbage(Brassica chinensis L.) and the threshold levels of Cd in soils for production of Chinese cabbage according to the food safety standard for Cd. Exogenous Cd(0–4 mg kg^(-1)) was added to the soils and equilibrated for 2 weeks before Chinese cabbage was grown under greenhouse conditions. The influence of soil properties on the relationship between soil and cabbage Cd concentrations was investigated. The results showed that Cd concentration in the edible part of Chinese cabbage increased linearly with soil Cd concentration in 5 soils, but showed a curvilinear pattern with a plateau at the highest dose of exogenous Cd in the other 3 soils. The Cd transfer coefficient from soil to plant varied significantly among the different soils and decreased with increasing soil p H from 4.7 to 7.5. However, further increase in soil pH to > 8.0 resulted in a significant decrease in the Cd transfer coefficient. According to the measured Cd transfer coefficient and by reference to the National Food Safety Standards of China, the safety threshold of Cd concentration in soil was predicted to be between 0.12 and 1.7 mg kg^(-1) for the tested soils. The predicted threshold values were higher than the current soil quality standard for Cd in 5 soils, but lower than the standard in the other 3 soils. | 2 | Real-time digital image stabilization based on regional field image gray projection显示文摘Digital image stabilization technique plays important roles in video surveillance and object acquisition.Many useful electronic image stabilization algorithms have been studied.A real-time algorithm is proposed based on field image gray projection which enables the regional odd and even field image to be projected into x and y directions and thus to get the regional gray projection curves in x and y directions,respectively.For the odd field image channel,motion parameters can be estimated via iterative minimum absolute difference based on two successive field image regional gray projection curves.Then motion compensations can be obtained after using the Kalman filter method.Finally,the odd field image is adjusted according to the compensations.In the mean time,motion compensation is applied to the even field image channel with the odd field image gray projection curves of the current frame.By minimizing absolute difference between odd and even field image gray projection curves of the current frame,the inter-field motion parameters can be estimated.Therefore,the even field image can be adjusted by combining the inter-field motion parameters and the odd field compensations.Finally,the stabilized image sequence can be obtained by synthesizing the adjusted odd and even field images.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can run in real-time and have a good stabilization performance.In addition,image blurring can be improved. | Weiping Yang Zhilong Zhang Yan Zhang Xinping Lu Jicheng Li Zhiguang Shi | 2016 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2016,27,1: | 4 |
| 3 | Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell transplantation for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy显示文摘Due to their relative abundance,stable biological properties and excellent reproductive activity,umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells have previously been utilized for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy,which is a muscular atrophy disease.Three patients who were clinically and pathologically diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy were transplanted with umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells by intravenous infusion,in combination with multi-point intramuscular injection.They were followed up for 12 months after cell transplantation.Results showed that clinical symptoms significantly improved,daily living activity and muscle strength were enhanced,the sero-enzyme,electromyogram,and MRI scans showed improvement,and dystrophin was expressed in the muscle cell membrane.Hematoxylin-eosin staining of a muscle biopsy revealed that muscle fibers were well arranged,fibrous degeneration was alleviated,and fat infiltration was improved.These pieces of evidence suggest that umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell transplantation can be considered as a new regimen for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. | Xiaofeng Yang Yifeng Xu Naiwu Lu Yibin Zhang Hongmei Wang Xin Lu Jiping Cui JinxuZhou Hong Shan Yanxiang Wu Xinping Liu | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,10: | 4 |

| 6 | Structural Assessment of Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers in Supercritical CO_(2) Waste Heat Recovery Systems for Ship Applications显示文摘Printed circuit heat exchangers(PCHEs)are considered as the most promising heat exchangers for use of the supercritical carbon dioxide(S-CO_(2))Brayton cycle.As crucial components operating at high pressure and thermal load at the same time,PCHE structural integrity evaluations are essential.In this study,to assess the structural strength of PCHEs serving as recuperators and precoolers in the S-CO_(2) Brayton cycle as a waste heat recovery system for marine engines,the finite element method(FEM)is used and compared with a currently used method from ASME codes.The effects of temperature and pressure on the hot and cold sides are studied in terms of the temperature and pressure differences between the two sides and the main factors affecting its strength discussed.Then,detailed stress intensities of a PCHE under design conditions are investigated,and the results indicate that the highest stress appears at the middle of the semicircular arc of the channel,except for a concentration near the channel tip regions.Stresses of the PCHE are mainly caused by both pressure and temperature differences,with the minimum effect from temperature.The synthesis of the temperature and pressure fields exhibits a complicated action on the total stress under the design conditions.FEM was a more comprehensive means for structural assessment than the method from ASME codes.Further structural optimization of PCHE is conducted to ensure a maximum life span.This research work can provide theoretical guidance for structural integrity assessment of PCHE for the S-CO_(2) Brayton cycle. | WANG Jian YAN Xinping LU Mingjian SUN Yuwei WANG Jiawei | 2022 | Journal of Thermal Science2022,31,3: | 2 |

| 11 | Lanthanum:A novel inducer for enhancement of fungal laccase production by Shiraia bambusicola显示文摘Fungal laccases are industrially important inducible enzymes extensively used in the delignification of lignocellulosics,detoxification of environmental wastes and decolorization of textile dyes.The discovery of new inducers is crucial for laccase productivity by filamentous fungi.In this study,a novel laccase-producing strain S8 from a bambusicolous fungus Shiraia bambusicola was identified by using 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)as laccase secretion indicator and native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.The corresponding full-length cDNA of laccase was cloned and characterized.The effect of lanthanum(LaCl_(3))on extracellular laccase activity was tested at the concentration from 0.2 to 2.0 g/L and at different addition time(day 1-4)in the mycelium culture.In the presence of 1.0 g/L La^(3+) at the beginning of the mycelium cultures,the highest laccase activity(2.7×10^(4) U/L)is reached after 10 days of cultivation,about tenfold higher compared with non-induced cultures.La^(3+) is shown to be a very strong inducer for fungal laccase activity with no inhibitory effect on fungal growth at the optimized concentration.In vivo,La^(3+) added to the mycelium culture not only promotes a continuous and high expression of laccase gene(lcc1),but also induces a rapid generation of signaling molecules including reactive oxygen species(ROS)and nitric oxygen(NO).Both the NO donor sodium nitroprusside(SNP)and exogenous hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))potentiate La^(3+)-induced laccase activity and increase membrane permeability of hyphal cells.Moreover,the scavengers such as 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide(cPTIO)for NO and vitamin C for ROS suppress the induction.These results suggest that these signals can mediate La^(3+)-induced laccase biosynthesis and its secretion.Our study provides a basis for understanding the induction mechanism of La^(3+) on laccase and a practical strategy for enhanced fungal laccase production. | Yue Wang Xiang Zhang Cansong Lu Xinping Li Jianqin Zhou Jianwen Wang | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,3: | 1 |

| 20 | Modified Maze lines plus pulmonary vein isolation created by radiofrequency catheter ablation on the atrial wall to treat atrial fibrillation in elderly显示文摘Objective To evaluate the effect of modified Maze lines plus pulmonary vein (PV) isolation created by radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) on atrial wall guided by a novel geometry mapping system in the treatment of elderly patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). Methods After regular electrophysiological study, transseptal punctures were achieved twice with Swartz L1 and R1 sheaths. PV angiographies were conducted to evaluate their orifices and branches. A balloon electrode array catheter with 64 electrodes was put in the middle of the left atrium. Atrium geometry was constructed using Ensite 3000 Navx system. Two RFCA lesion loops and three lines (modified Maze) were created on left and right atrial walls. Each lesion point was ablated for 30 seconds with preset temperature 50 (ae) and energy 30W. The disappearance or 80% decrease of the amplitude of target atrial potential and 10 to 20(|), decrease of ablation impedance were used as an index of effective ablation. Results A total of 11 patients (7 male and 4 female, mean age, 68.7±5.1 years) were enrolled. PAF history was 7.9±4.5 years. PAF could not be prevented by mean 3.1±1.6 antiarrhythmic agents in 6.3±3.4 years. None of the patients had complications with structural heart disease or stroke. Left atrial diameter was 41.3±3.6 mm and LVEF was 59.2±3.7% on echocardiography. Two loops and three lines were completed with 67.8±13.1 (73-167) lesion points. Altogether 76-168 (89.4±15.3) lesion points were created in each patient. PAF could not be provoked by rapid burst pacing up to 600 beat per minute delivered from paroxysmal coronary sinus electrode pair.Complete PV electrical isolation was confirmed by three-dimensional activation mapping. Mean procedure time was 2.7±0.6 hours and fluoroscopy time was 17.8±9.4 minutes. Patients were discharged with oral aspirin and without antiarrhythmic agents. During follow up of 6.5±1.8 months, seven patients were PAF symptom free (63.6%). PAF attacks were decreased more than 70% in two patients (18.2%). PAF frequency did not change in another two patients (18.2%). Conclusions Ensite 3000 Navx guided modified Maze lines plus PV isolation on the atrial wall is safe and feasible in the elderly patients.
