1China's regional transport dominance: Density, proximity, and accessibility显示文摘Transport infrastructure plays an important role in shaping the configuration of spatial socio-economic structures and influences regional accessibility.This paper defines transport dominance from three aspects:quality,quantity,and advantage,measured by density,proximity,and accessibility indices.County is the basic unit for analysis.The results reveal:(1)Transport dominance statistically follows a partial normal distribution.A very few counties,1.4%of the total,have extremely high transport dominance which strongly supports the socio-economic development in these areas.In contrast,one eighth of all counties have poor transport dominance which impedes local socio-economic development to some extent. The remaining areas,about 70%of the counties,have median transport dominance.(2) Transport dominance is spatially unevenly distributed,with values decreasing gradually from the coastal area to the inland area.Areas in the first-highest level of transport dominance are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta,the Greater Beijing area,and the Pearl River Delta.Areas in the second-highest level are focused in Chengdu,Chongqing,and Wuhan metropolitan areas.Provincial capitals and a few other counties belong to the third-highest level.JIN Fengjun WANG Chengjin LI Xiuwei WANG Jiao'e 2010Journal of Geographical Sciences2010,20,2:58

3The impact of UV treatment on microbial control and DBPs formation in full-scale drinking water systems in northern China显示文摘To manage potential microbial risks and meet increasingly strict drinking water health standards,UV treatment has attracted increasing attention for use in drinking water systems in China.However,the effects of UV treatment on microbial control and disinfection byproducts(DBPs)formation in real municipal drinking water systems are poorly understood.Here,we collected water samples from three real drinking water systems in Beijing and Tianjin to investigate the impacts of UV treatment on microbial control and DBP formation.We employed heterotrophic plate count(HPC),flow cytometry(FCM),quantitative PCR analysis,and high-throughput sequencing to measure microorganisms in the samples.Different trends were observed between HPC and total cell count(measured by FCM),indicating that a single indicator could not reflect the real degree of biological re-growth in drinking water distribution systems(DWDSs).A significant increase in the 16S rRNA gene concentration was observed when the UV system was stopped.Besides,the bacterial community composition was similar at the phylum level but differed markedly at the genera level among the three DWDSs.Some chlorine-resistant bacteria,including potential pathogens(e.g.,Acinetobacter)showed a high relative abundance when the UV system was turned off.It can be concluded that UV treatment can mitigate microbial re-growth to some extent.Finally,UV treatment had a limited influence on the formation of DBPs,including trihalomethanes,haloacetic acids,and nitrogenated DBPs.The findings of this study may help to understand the performance of UV treatment in real drinking water systems.Xiuwei Ao Zhongyun Chen Simiao Li Chen Li Zedong Lu Wenjun Sun 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:2
4RhizoVision Crown:An Integrated Hardware and Software Platform for Root Crown Phenotyping显示文摘Root crown phenotyping measures the top portion of crop root systems and can be used for marker-assisted breeding,genetic mapping,and understanding how roots influence soil resource acquisition.Several imaging protocols and image analysis programs exist,but they are not optimized for high-throughput,repeatable,and robust root crown phenotyping.The RhizoVision Crown platform integrates an imaging unit,image capture software,and image analysis software that are optimized for reliable extraction of measurements from large numbers of root crowns.The hardware platform utilizes a backlight and a monochrome machine vision camera to capture root crown silhouettes.The RhizoVision Imager and RhizoVision Analyzer are free,open-source software that streamline image capture and image analysis with intuitive graphical user interfaces.The RhizoVision Analyzer was physically validated using copper wire,and features were extensively validated using 10,464 groundtruth simulated images of dicot and monocot root systems.This platform was then used to phenotype soybean and wheat root crowns.A total of 2,799 soybean(Glycine max)root crowns of 187 lines and 1,753 wheat(Triticum aestivum)root crowns of 186 lines were phenotyped.Principal component analysis indicated similar correlations among features in both species.The maximum heritability was 0.74 in soybean and 0.22 in wheat,indicating that differences in species and populations need to be considered.The integrated RhizoVision Crown platform facilitates high-throughput phenotyping of crop root crowns and sets a standard by which open plant phenotyping platforms can be benchmarked.Anand Seethepalli Haichao Guo Xiuwei Liu Marcus Griffiths Hussien Almtarfi Zenglu Li Shuyu Liu Alina Zare Felix B.Fritschi Elison B.Blancaflor Xue-Feng Ma Larry M.York 2020Plant Phenomics2020,2,1:2

13Assessing the active-passive approach at variant incidence angles for microwave brightness temperature downscaling显示文摘The Terrestrial Water Resources Satellite(TWRS)campaign is a planned Chinese candidate satellite mission,and a one-dimensional synthetic aperture technology will be used,resulting in variant incidence angles for collecting synchronous active-passive observations at L-band,which would make brightness temperature(T_(b))downscaling especially challenging when aiming to improve the spatial resolution of soil moisture measurements.In this study,two active-passive T_(b) downscaling algorithms,the time-series regression(TSR)and spectral analysis(SA)algorithms,are assessed comprehensively based on airborne experimental datasets.The results with data collected during the Soil Moisture Experiment 2002(SMEX02)showed that both approaches could provide a reliable downscaled T_(b) at the same incidence angle.Based on the ground and airborne active-passive observations under variant incidence angles from the Soil Moisture Experiment in the Luan River(SMELR)it can be shown that the linear relationship between T_(b) andσis still robust under the case of variant incidence angles,and T_(b)(both h-and v-pol)is better correlated toσvv for most cases thanσhh.Both downscaling approaches can be applied to active-passive observations under varying incidence angles.Moreover,SA method performed better than the TSR method according to the lower RMSE values and higher correlation.Peng Guo Tianjie Zhao Jiancheng Shi Hongxin Xu Xiuwei Li Shengda Niu 2021International Journal of Digital Earth2021,14,10:1

15Chinese patients with p.Arg756 mutations of ATP1A3: Clinical manifestations, treatment, and follow-up显示文摘Importance:The phenotypes of ATP1A3 gene mutations are diverse.Relapsing encephalopathy with cerebellar ataxia and fever-induced paroxysmal weakness and encephalopathy(FIPWE)are considered non-classical phenotypes caused by p.Arg756 mutations of ATP1A3.Objective:To summarize the clinical manifestations,treatment,and followup of Chinese patients with p.Arg756 mutations of ATP1A3.Methods:We analyzed the clinical features,treatment,and genotypes of eight children with p.Arg756 mutations of ATP1A3 who were treated in Beijing Children’s Hospital from January 2014 to December 2019.Results:Eight patients(six boys and two girls)were included;seven had been misdiagnosed with encephalitis.The age of onset ranged from 0.8 to 4.5 years.All patients had encephalopathy and had at least one episode of FIPWE.Cerebellar ataxia was present in nine episodes.Reversible splenial lesions of the corpus callosum were found in two patients in the acute phase.Three types of heterozygous ATP1A3 mutations were found:c.2267G>T(p.R756L)(patient 3[P3]),c.2266C>T(p.R756C)(P2 and P4),and c.2267G>A(p.R756H)(P1,P5,P6,P7,and P8).Six mutations were de novo;two mutations were inherited.Both patients with p.R756C and one patient(P7)with p.R756H had four episodes of severe ataxia as the main manifestations.However,in the other three episodes,limb weakness was more prominent than ataxia.P5 with p.R756H exhibited overlap with FIPWE and rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism.Interpretation:Acute encephalopathy followed by febrile disease was characteristic of the disease in patients with p.Arg756 mutations of ATP1A3.However,the weakness and ataxia were variable.Phenotypic crossover and overlap were observed among these patients.Weihua Zhang Jiuwei Li Xiuwei Zhuo Ji Zhou Weixing Feng Shuai Gong Xiaotun Ren Changhong Ding Tongli Han Fang Fang 2022Pediatric Investigation2022,6,1:1
