| 2 | Review on photocatalytic and electrocatalytic artificial nitrogen fixation for ammonia synthesis at mild conditions: Advances,challenges and perspectives显示文摘The ammonia synthesis from nitrogen and water under ambient conditions is one of the most inviting but challenging reaction routes.Although nitrogen is abundant in the atmosphere and the ammonia synthesis reaction is exothermic on the thermodynamics,the conversion of N2 to ammonia is actually hard to proceed owing to the chemical inertness and stability of N2 molecules.In industry,ammonia synthesis is carried out by the Haber-Bosch process under harsh conditions (300-500 ℃,20-30 MPa) associated with the requirement of substantial energy input and the enormous emission of greenhouse gases (e.g.,CO2).Recently,a growing number of studies on photo(electro)catalytic and electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) in aqueous solution have attracted extensive attention,which holds great promise for nitrogen fixation under room temperature and atmospheric pressure.However,the very low efficiency and ambiguous mechanism still remain as the major hurdles for the development of photochemical and electrochemical NRR systems.Here we provide an overview of the latest progresses,remaining challenges and future prospects in photocatalytic and electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation.Moreover,this review offers a helpful guidance for the reasonable design of photocatalysts and electrocatalysts towards NRR by combining theory predictions and experiment results.We hope this review can stimulate more research interests in the relatively understudied but highly promising research field of NRR. | Xiaolan Xue Renpeng Chen Changzeng Yan Peiyang Zhao Yi Hu Wenjun Zhang Songyuan Yang Zhong Jin | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,6: | 20 |
| 3 | Differential hepatic features presenting in Wilson disease-associated cirrhosis and hepatitis B-associated cirrhosis显示文摘BACKGROUND Cirrhosis is a chronic late stage liver disease associated with hepatitis viruses,alcoholism, and metabolic disorders, such as Wilson disease(WD). There are no clear markers or clinical features that define cirrhosis originating from these disparate origins. We hypothesized that cirrhosis is not one disease and cirrhosis of different etiology may have differential clinical hepatic features.AIM To delineate the liver features between WD-associated cirrhosis and hepatitis Bassociated cirrhosis in the Chinese population.METHODS In this observational study, we reviewed the medical data of consecutive inpatients who had WD-associated cirrhosis or hepatitis B-associated cirrhosis from January 2010 to August 2018, and excluded patients who had carcinoma,severe heart or pulmonary diseases, or other liver diseases. According to the etiology of cirrhosis, patients were divided into two groups: WD-associated cirrhosis group(60 patients) and hepatitis B-associated cirrhosis group(56 patients). The liver fibrosis degree, liver function indices, and portal hypertension features of these patients were compared between the two groups.RESULTS No inter-group differences were observed in the diagnostic liver fibrosis markers,however, clinical features clearly defined the origin of cirrhosis. WD-associated cirrhosis patients(16-29 years) had lower levels of alanine transaminase,aspartate transaminase, and bilirubin, lower prothrombin time, lower incidence of hepatic encephalopathy, and lower portal vein diameter(P < 0.05), compared to cirrhosis resulting from hepatitis B in older patients(45-62 years). Importantly,they had decreased risks of progression from Child-Pugh grade A to B(odds ratio = 0.046, 95% confidence interval: 0.006-0.387, P = 0.005) and of ascites(odds ratio = 0.08, 95% confidence interval: 0.01-0.48, P = 0.005). Conversely, WDassociated cirrhosis patients had a higher risk of splenomegaly(odds ratio = 4.15,95% confidence interval: 1.38-12.45, P = 0.011).CONCLUSION WD-associated cirrhosis presents a higher risk of splenomegaly associated with leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, although revealing milder liver dysfunction and portal hypertension symptoms, which recommends WD patients to be monitored for associated complications. | Hao-Jie Zhong Huan-Huan Sun Lan-Feng Xue Eileen M McGowan Yu Chen | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,3: | 19 |
| 4 | Diagnostic performance of magnifying narrow-band imaging for early gastric cancer: A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the performance of magnifying endoscopy with narrow-band imaging(ME-NBI) in the diagnosis of early gastric cancer(EGC).METHODS: Systematic literature searches were conducted until February 2014 in Pub Med, EMBASE, Web of Science, Ovid, Scopus and the Cochrane Library databases by two independent reviewers. Meta-analysis was performed to calculate the pooled sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio and to construct a summary receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve. Subgroup analyses were performed based on the morphology type of lesions, diagnostic standard, the size of lesions, type of assessment, country and sample size to explore possible sources of heterogeneity. A Deeks' asymmetry test was used to evaluate the publication bias.RESULTS: Fourteen studies enrolling 2171 patients were included. The pooled sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio for ME-NBI diagnosis of EGC were 0.86(95%CI: 0.83-0.89), 0.96(95%CI: 0.95-0.97) and 102.75(95%CI: 48.14-219.32), respectively, with the area under ROC curve being 0.9623. Among the 14 studies, six also evaluated the diagnostic value of conventional white-light imaging, with a sensitivityof 0.57(95%CI: 0.50-0.64) and a specificity of 0.79(95%CI: 0.76-0.81). When using 'VS'(vessel plus surface) ME-NBI diagnostic systems in gastric lesions of depressed macroscopic type, the pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.64(95%CI: 0.52-0.75) and 0.96(95%CI: 0.95-0.98). | 6 | A Highly Pathogenic Strain of Porcine Deltacoronavirus Caused Watery Diarrhea in Newborn Piglets显示文摘Porcine deltacoronavirus(PDCoV) is a newly identified virus that causes watery diarrhea in newborn piglets and results in significant economic losses to the pig industry. Since first reported in Hong Kong in 2012, PDCoV has been subsequently detected in USA, South Korea, Thailand, and China's Mainland. Here we isolated a strain of PDCoV, named CHN-GD-2016,from the intestinal content of a diseased newborn piglet with severe diarrhea in a pig farm in Guangdong, China. PDCoV CHN-GD-2016 could be identified by immunofluorescence with PDCoV specific rabbit antisera, and typical crown-shaped particles with spiky surface projections of this PDCoV were observed with electron microscopy. Genomic analysis showed that the PDCoV CHN-GD-2016 was closely related to other Chinese PDCoV strains, with the highest sequence similarity with the strain CHN/Tianjin/2016. Importantly, inoculation of newborn piglets with 1×10~5 TCID_(50) of CHN-GD-2016 by oral feeding successfully reproduced clear clinical symptoms, including vomiting, dehydration, and severe diarrhea in piglets. In addition, the virus RNA in rectal swabs from 1 to 7 days post inoculation was detected, macroscopic and microscopic lesions in small intestine were observed, and viral antigen was also detected in the small intestines with immunohistochemical staining. | 7 | On comparison of modified ADRCs for nonlinear uncertain systems with time delay显示文摘To tackle systems with both uncertainties and time delays, several modified active disturbance rejection control(ADRC) methods, including delayed designed ADRC(DD-ADRC), polynomial based predictive ADRC(PP-ADRC), Smith predictor based ADRC(SP-ADRC) and predictor observer based ADRC(PO-ADRC), have been proposed in the past years. This paper is aimed at rigorously investigating the performance of these modified ADRCs, such that the improvements of each method can be demonstrated.The capability to tackle time delay, the necessity of stable open loop and the performance of rejecting uncertainties for these methods are fully studied and compared. It is proven that large time delay cannot be tolerated for the stability of the closed-loop systems based on DD-ADRC and PP-ADRC. Moreover, stable open loop is shown to be necessary for stabilizing the closed-loop systems based on SP-ADRC. Furthermore,the performance of rejecting the 'total disturbance' at low frequency for these modified ADRCs is evaluated and quantitatively discussed. | 8 | TECA hybrid artificial liver support system in treatment of acute liver failure显示文摘AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of TECA type hybrid artificial liver support system (TECA-HALSS) in providing liver function of detoxification, metabolism and physiology by treating the patients with acute liver failure (ALF).METHODS: The porcine liver cells (1 - 2 ) x 1010 were separated from the Chinese small swine and cultured in the bioreactor of TECA-BALSS at 37.0°C and circulated through the outer space of the hollow fiber tubes in BALSS. The six liver failure patients with various degree of hepatic coma were treated by TECA-HALSS and with conventional medicines. The venous plasma of the patients was separated by a plasma separator and treated by charcoal adsorbent or plasma exchange. The plasma circulated through the inner space of the hollow fiber tubes of BALSS and mixed with the patients' blood cells and flew back to their blood circulation. Some small molecular weight substances were exchanged between theplasma and porcine liver cells. Each treatment lasted 6.0-7.0 h.Physiological and biochemical parameters were measured before, during and after the treatment.RESULTS: The average of porcine liver cells was (1.0- 3.0)x 1010 obtained from each swine liver using our modified enzymatic digestion method. The survival rate of the cells was 85% - 93% by tnypan blue stain and AO/PI fluorescent stain. After cultured in TECA-BALSS bioreactor for 6 h, the survival rate of cells still remained 70% - 85%. At the end of TECA-HALSS treatment, the levels of plasma NH3, ALT, TB and DB were significantly decreased. The patients who were in the state of drowsiness or coma before the treatment improved their appetite significantly and regained consciousness, some patients resumed light physical work on a short period after the treatment. One to two days after the treatment, the ratio of PTA increased warkedly. | 9 | Serum calcium,albumin,globulin and matrix metalloproteinase-9 levels in acute cerebral infarction patients显示文摘BACKGROUND Hemorrhagic transformation(HT)is a common complication in patients with cerebral infarction.However,its pathogenesis is poorly understood.The knowledge of factors that may increase risk for HT may help in improving the safety of thrombolytic therapy.AIM To investigate the predictive value of serum calcium,albumin,globulin and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)levels for HT after intravenous thrombolysis(IVT)in patients with acute cerebral infarction.METHODS Five hundred patients with acute cerebral infarction who received IVT with alteplase within 4.5 h after the onset of disease between January 2018 and January 2021 at our hospital were selected as the study subjects.They were divided into groups based on computed tomography scan results of the brain made within 36 h after thrombolysis.Forty patients with HT were enrolled in an observation group and 460 patients without HT were enrolled in a control group.Serum calcium,albumin,globulin and MMP-9 levels were compared between the two groups.Regression analysis was used to discuss the relationship between these indices and HT.RESULTS The previous history of hypertension,diabetes,atrial fibrillation,cerebrovascular diseases,smoking and alcohol intake were not associated with HT after IVT in patients with acute cerebral infarction(all P>0.05).The National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NHISS)score was associated with HT after IVT in patients with acute cerebral infarction(P<0.05).The serum calcium and albumin levels were lower in the observation group than in the control group(all P<0.05).The levels of globulin and MMP-9 were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(all P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that NHISS score,serum calcium,albumin,globulins and MMP-9 were independent factors influencing the occurrence of HT following IVT in patients with cerebral infarction(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Serum calcium,albumin,globulin and MMP-9 levels are risk factors for HT after IVT in patients with acute cerebral infarction.Moreover,NHISS score can be used as a predictor of post-thrombolytic HT. | Ting-Ting Zhong Gang Wang Xiao-Qin Wang Wei-Dan Kong Xiao-Yu Li Qian Xue Yu-An Zou | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,30: | 15 |
| 10 | Inulin Can Alleviate Metabolism Disorders in ob/ob Mice by Partially Restoring Leptinrelated Pathways Mediated by Gut Microbiota显示文摘Inulin has been used as a prebiotic to alleviate glucose and lipid metabolism disorders in mice and humans by modulating the gut microbiota. However, the mechanism underlying the alleviation of metabolic disorders by inulin through interactions between the gut microbiota and host cells is unclear. We use ob/ob mice as a model to study the effect of inulin on the cecal microbiota by16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and its interaction with host cells by transcriptomics. The inulin-supplemented diet improved glucose and lipid metabolism disorder parameters in ob/ob mice,alleviating fat accumulation and glucose intolerance. The a diversity of gut microbial community of ob/ob mice was reduced after inulin treatment, while the b diversity tended to return to the level of wild type mice. Interestingly, Prevotellaceae UCG 001(family Prevotellaceae) was obviously enriched after inulin treatment. A comparative analysis of the gene expression profile showed that the cecal transcriptome was changed in leptin gene deficiency mice, whereas the inulin-supplemented diet partially reversed the changes in leptin gene-related signaling pathways, especially AMPK signaling pathway, where the levels of gene expression became comparable to those in wild type mice.Further analysis indicated that Prevotellaceae UCG 001 was positively correlated with the AMPK signaling pathway, which was negatively correlated with markers of glycolipid metabolism disorders. | 11 | MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF FINE PITCH DEVICES SOLDERED JOINTS BASED ON CREEP MODEL显示文摘Nonlinear analyses of quad flat package (QFP) on printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies subjected to thermal cycling conditions are presented.Two different solders are considered,namely, Sn37Pb and Sn3.5Ag.The stress and strain response of fine pitch devices soldered joints was investigated by using finite element method based on Garofalo-Arrheninus model.The simulated results indicate creep distribution of soldered joints is not uniform,the heel and toe of soldered joints, the area between soldered joints and leads are the creep concentrated sites.The similar phenomena of stress curves simulated based on Garofalo-Arrhenlnus model and Anand equations is confirmed,and the creep strain value of Sn3.5Ag soldered joints is lower than that of Sn37Pb soldered joints. Thermal cycling results show that Sn3.5Ag strongly outperforms Sn37Pb for QFP devices under the studied test condition.This is well matched with the experimental outcome analyzed.In addition,the soldered devices were tested by micro-joints tester,the tensile strength of Sn3.5Ag soldered joints is found to be higher than that of Sn37Pb soldered joints.By analyzing the fracture microstructure of soldered joints,it is found that fracture mechanism of Sn3.5Ag soldered joints is toughness fracture, while fracture mechanism of Sn37Pb soldered joints includes brittle fracture and toughness fracture. | 14 | Oxidative Stress and Apoptotic Changes of Rat Cerebral Cortical Neurons Exposed to Cadmium in Vitro显示文摘Objective To investigate the cytotoxic mechanism of cadmium(Cd) on cerebral cortical neurons.Methods The primary cultures of rat cerebral cortical neurons were treated with different concentrations of cadmium acetate(0,5,10,and 20 μmol/L),and then the cell viability,apoptosis,ultrastructure,intracellular [Ca2+]i and reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels,mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨ),activities of catalase(CAT) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) were measured.Results A progressive loss in cell viability and an increased number of apoptotic cells were observed.In addition,Cd-induced apoptotic morphological changes in cerebral cortical neurons were also demonstrated by Hoechst 33258 staining.Meanwhile,ultrastructural changes were distortion of mitochondrial cristae and an unusual arrangement.Simultaneously,elevation of intracellular [Ca2+]i and ROS levels,depletion of ΔΨ were revealed in a dose-dependent manner during the exposure.Moreover,CAT and SOD activities in the living cells increased significantly.Conclusion Exposure of cortical neurons to different doses of Cd led to cellular death,mediated by an apoptotic mechanism,and the apoptotic death induced by oxidative stress may be a potential reason.And the disorder of intracellular homeostasis caused by oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction may be a trigger for apoptosis in cortical neurons. | YUAN Yan BIAN Jian Chun LIU Xue Zhong ZHANG Ying SUN Ya LIU Zong Ping | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2: | 10 |

| 17 | Stem cells in gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC) is one of the leading causes of cancerrelated mortality worldwide.Cancer stem cells(CSCs),which were first identified in acute myeloid leukemia and subsequently in a large array of solid tumors,play important roles in cancer initiation,dissemination and recurrence.CSCs are often transformed tissue-specific stem cells or de-differentiated transit amplifying progenitor cells.Several populations of multipotent gastric stem cells(GSCs) that reside in the stomach have been determined to regulate physiological tissue renewal and injury repair.These populations include the Villin+ and Lgr5+ GSCs in the antrum,the Troy+ chief cells in the corpus,and the Sox2+ GSCs that are found in both the antrum and the corpus.The disruption of tumor suppressors in Villin+ or Lgr5+ GSCs leads to GC in mouse models.In addition to residing GSCs,bone marrow-derived cells can initiate GC in a mouse model of chronic Helicobacter infection.Furthermore,expression of the cell surface markers CD133 or CD44 defines gastric CSCs in mouse models and in human primary GC tissues and cell lines.Targeted elimination of CSCs effectively reduces tumor size and grade in mouse models.In summary,the recent identification of normal GSCs and gastric CSCs has greatly improved our understanding of the molecular and cellular etiology of GC and will aid in the development of effective therapies to treat patients. | Ying-Ying Hu Qing-Wu Lian Zheng-Hua Lin Jing Zhong Meng Xue Liang-Jing Wang | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,1: | 10 |

| 19 | Risk analysis for the highly pathogenic avian influenza in China's Mainland using meta-modeling显示文摘A logistic model was employed to correlate the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) with related environmental factors and the migration of birds. Based on MODIS data of the normalized difference vegetation index, environmental factors were considered in generating a probability map with the aid of logistic regression. A Bayesian maximum entropy model was employed to explore the spatial and temporal correlations of HPAI incidence. The results show that proximity to water bodies and national highways was statistically relevant to the occurrence of HPAI. Migratory birds, mainly waterfowl, were important infection sources in HPAI transmission. In addition, the HPAI outbreaks had high spatiotemporal autocorrelation. This epidemic spatial range fluctuated 45 km owing to different distribution patterns of cities and water bodies. Furthermore, two outbreaks were likely to occur with a period of 22 d. | 20 | TOC changes in the process of thermal evolution of source rock and its controls显示文摘Through geological observation, simulation in laboratory and numerical modeling, the factors that control the changes in total organic content (TOC) of source rock have been studied. When the formula DTOC=(TOC0-TOC)/TOC0 (original organic carbon content in the rock) is used to measure the TOC (total organic carbon content) changes in the source rock through geological time, the degrees and directions of such changes are determined by losses and relative amounts both of organic and inorganic matter in the source rock. The DTOC equa-tion, which is used to calculate the loss rate in the process of maturation for the source rock, is therefore obtained by analyzing the mass balance relations. For a certain type of source rock with a certain maturation history, the changes of its TOC respond only to the rates of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion. In actual cases of geological entities, DTOC generally ranges from -0.05 to 0.2, while the calculated reconversion coefficient (k) for organic carbon content remains between 0.90 and 1.25. Only in an ideal situation where there are extremely high rates of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion can the DTOC value experience significant changes, with k reaching up to 2.5.
