Cryogenic minimum quantity lubrication machining: from mechanism to application显示文摘Cutting fluid plays a cooling-lubrication role in the cutting of metal materials. However, the substantial usage of cutting fluid in traditional flood machining seriously pollutes the environment and threatens the health of workers.Environmental machining technologies, such as dry cutting, minimum quantity lubrication(MQL),and cryogenic cooling technology, have been used as substitute for flood machining. However, the insufficient cooling capacity of MQL with normal-temperature compressed gas and the lack of lubricating performance of cryogenic cooling technology limit their industrial application. The technical bottleneck of mechanical-thermal damage of difficult-to-cut materials in aerospace and other fields can be solved by combining cryogenic medium and MQL.The latest progress of cryogenic minimum quantity lubrication(CMQL)technology is reviewed in this paper, and the key scientific issues in the research achievements of CMQL are clarified.First, the application forms and process characteristics of CMQL devices in turning, milling, and grinding are systematically summarized from traditional settings to innovative design.Second, the cooling-lubrication mechanism of CMQL and its influence mechanism on material hardness, cutting force, tool wear, and workpiece surface quality in cutting are extensively revealed. The effects of CMQL are systematically analyzed based on its mechanism and application form. Results show that the application effect of CMQL is better than that of cryogenic technology or MQL alone. Finally, the prospect, which provides basis and support for engineering application and development of CMQL technology,is introduced considering the limitations of CMQL.Mingzheng LIU Changhe LI Yanbin ZHANG Qinglong AN Min YANG Teng GAO Cong MAO Bo LIU Huajun CAO Xuefeng XU Zafar SAID Sujan DEBNATH Muhammad JAMIL Hafz Muhammad ALI Shubham SHARMA 2021Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2021,16,4:8
Milling Force Model for Aviation Aluminum Alloy: Academic Insight and Perspective Analysis显示文摘Aluminum alloy is the main structural material of aircraft, launch vehicle, spaceship, and space station and is processed by milling. However, tool wear and vibration are the bottlenecks in the milling process of aviation aluminum alloy. The machining accuracy and surface quality of aluminum alloy milling depend on the cutting parameters, material mechanical properties, machine tools, and other parameters. In particular, milling force is the crucial factor to determine material removal and workpiece surface integrity. However, establishing the prediction model of milling force is important and difficult because milling force is the result of multiparameter coupling of process system. The research progress of cutting force model is reviewed from three modeling methods:empirical model, finite element simulation, and instantaneous milling force model. The problems of cutting force modeling are also determined. In view of these problems, the future work direction is proposed in the following four aspects:(1)high-speed milling is adopted for the thin-walled structure of large aviation with large cutting depth, which easily produces high residual stress. The residual stress should be analyzed under this particular condition.(2)Multiple factors(e.g.,eccentric swing milling parameters, lubrication conditions, tools, tool and workpiece deformation, and size effect)should be considered comprehensively when modeling instantaneous milling forces, especially for micro milling and complex surface machining.(3)The database of milling force model, including the corresponding workpiece materials, working condition, cutting tools(geometric figures and coatings),and other parameters, should be established.(4)The effect of chatter on the prediction accuracy of milling force cannot be ignored in thin-walled workpiece milling.(5)The cutting force of aviation aluminum alloy milling under the condition of minimum quantity lubrication(mql)and nanofluid mql should be predicted.Zhenjing Duan Changhe Li Wenfeng Ding Yanbin Zhang Min Yang Teng Gao Huajun Cao Xuefeng Xu Dazhong Wang Cong Mao Hao Nan Li Gupta Munish Kumar Zafar Said Sujan Debnath Muhammad Jamil Hafiz Muhammad Ali 2021Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2021,34,1:7
FAT1, a direct transcriptional target of E2F1, suppresses cell proliferation, migration and invasion in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective: Growing evidence indicates that FAT atypical cadherin 1(FAT1) has aberrant genetic alterations and exhibits potential tumor suppressive function in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC). However, the role of FAT1 in ESCC tumorigenesis remains not well elucidated. The aim of this study was to further investigate genetic alterations and biological functions of FAT1, as well as to explore its transcriptional regulation and downstream targets in ESCC.Methods: The mutations of FAT1 in ESCC were achieved by analyzing a combined study from seven published genomic data, while the copy number variants of FAT1 were obtained from an analysis of our previous data as well as of The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia(CCLE) databases using the cBioPortal. The transcriptional regulation of FAT1 expression was investigated by chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP) and the luciferase reporter assays. In-cell western, Western blot and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR) were used to assess the indicated gene expression. In addition, colony formation and Transwell migration/invasion assays were employed to test cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Finally, RNA sequencing was used to study the transcriptomes. Results: FAT1 was frequently mutated in ESCC and was deleted in multiple cancers. Furthermore, the transcription factor E2 F1 occupied the promoter region of FAT1, and depletion of E2 F1 led to a decrease in transcription activity and mRNA levels of FAT1. Moreover, we found that knockdown of FAT1 promoted KYSE30 and KYSE150 cell proliferation, migration and invasion;while overexpression of FAT1 inhibited KYSE30 and KYSE410 cell proliferation, migration and invasion. In addition, knockdown of FAT1 led to enrichment of the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathway and cell adhesion process. Conclusions: Our data provided evidence for the tumor suppressive function of FAT1 in ESCC cells and elucidated the transcriptional regulation of FAT1 by E2 F1, which may facilitate the understanding of molecular mechanisms of the progression of ESCC.Yu Wang Guangchao Wang Yunping Ma Jinglei Teng Yan Wang Yongping Cui Yan Dong Shujuan Shao Qimin Zhan Xuefeng Liu 2019Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,4:6
Fiber damage analysis model for RC beam-column based on EEP super-convergent computation显示文摘A new numerical strategy to model nonlinear damage behavior of RC beam-column member based on level of material and superconvergent computation is presented in this paper. A fiber damage analysis model (FDAM) for RC beam-column member is established by analyzing section of fiber beam column element with the uniaxial damage constitutive relations of con-crete. The damage index of RC member through statistical analysis of concrete fibers damage is defined in the extreme section of beam elements, which can describe the nonlinear damage behavior of RC beam-column member under any loadings. The newly proposed element energy projection (EEP) method is applied to the inelastic analysis of FDAM. EEP superconvergent formulas for section forces and deformations of beam-column are established, and general algorithm and numerical strategy adopting EEP super-convergent computation for section deformation increment are proposed in the classical Newton-Raphson process. Both analysis and numerical test show that the EEP method can effectively find out the nonlinear feature of the distribution, and accurately obtain the damage distribution of RC beamcolumn. The proposed numerical scheme in this paper proves to be effective and convenient in its use and can be easily integrated into the present inelastic FEM programs of structure analysis.TENG Jun LI ZuoHua OU JinPing HE XueFeng 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,10:6
Nest-type NCM ■ Pt/C with oxygen capture character as advanced electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘A unique nest-type catalyst has been designed with a nest of oxygen capture surrounding catalytic Pt centers, which shows much promoted performance, on the base of Pt/C catalyst, for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). The nest is constructed with nitrogen-doped carbon matrix(NCM), derived from the controlled carbonization of PANI precursor, to cover Pt/C catalyst. The unique structure of the catalyst(denoted as NCM■ Pt/C) has many merits. Firstly, it can capture oxygen both in air and in acidic electrolyte. Compared with naked Pt/C, it is found that, in air, the oxygen concentration within the porous nest of NCM surrounding Pt/C particles is ~13 times higher than atmospheric oxygen concentration and, in acidic electrolyte, the concentration of activated oxygen over the catalyst NCM■ Pt/C rise to~1.9 times. Secondly, the NCM nest offers a special electronic modulation on Pt centers toward modified ORR kinetics and then catalytic performances. With these merits, compared with Pt/C, the NCM■ Pt/C catalyst shows 3.2 times higher turnover frequency value and 2.9 times enhanced specific activity for ORR with half-wave potential at 0.894 V. After 50,000 sweeping cycles, the NCM■ Pt/C catalyst retains~66% mass activity and still has advantages over the fresh Pt/C catalyst. We envision that the nest-type catalyst provides a new idea for progress of practical Pt/C ORR catalyst.Teng Chen Yida Xu Deming Meng Xuefeng Guo Yan Zhu Luming Peng Jianqiang Hu Weiping Ding 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,8:1
Spatial transformation of general sampling-aliasing frequency region for rotating-blade parameter identification with emphasis on single-probe blade tip-timing measurement显示文摘Blade-health monitoring is intensely required for turbomachinery because of the high failure risk of rotating blades.Blade-Tip Timing(BTT)is considered as the most promising technique for operational blade-vibration monitoring, which obtains the parameters that characterize the blade condition from recorded signals. However, its application is hindered by severe undersampling and stringent probe layouts. An inappropriate probe layout can make most of the existing methods invalid or inaccurate.Additionally,a general conflict arises between the allowed and required layouts because of arrangement restrictions. For the sake of economy and safety, parameter identification based on fewer probes has been preferred by users. In this work,a spatial-transformation-based method for parameter identification is proposed based on a single-probe BTT measurement. To present the general Sampling-Aliasing Frequency(SAFE)map definition, the traditional time-frequency analysis methods are extended to a time-sampling frequency. Then,a SAFE map is projected onto a parameter space using spatial transformation to extract the slope and intercept parameters, which can be physically interpreted as an engine order and a natural frequency using coordinate transformation. Finally, the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method are verified by simulations and experiments under uniformly and nonuniformly variable speed conditions.Jiahui CAO Zhibo YANG Guangrong TENG Shaohua TIAN Guoyong YE Xuefeng CHEN 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,3:1
Experimental, analytical and numerical investigation on tensile behavior of twisted fiber yarns显示文摘Stitched composite materials are emerging as a promising material due to their high interlaminar strength, combined performance and light weight. The mechanical properties of stitch yarns are very essential for stitched composite structures. In this study, the tensile behaviors of the twisted fiber yarn in stitched composites were investigated experimentally, analytically and numerically. Two kinds of cross-sectional area of twisted yarn are proposed and discussed. The paper presents an intersecting circle model to describe the cross-section of twisted fiber yarns, and a physics-based theoretical model to predict the effective tensile moduli. The numerical models take into account the cross-sectional characteristic and the twist architecture. The investigation shows that:the sum of each fiber area should be used for experimental analysis;and the crosssectional area surrounded by the yarn profile should be used for theoretical predictions and finite element(FE)simulations. The relative errors of the prediction method and the FE simulation are less than 2%and 1%,respectively.The friction between the fibers is derived, and the effect of friction on mechanical properties is discussed. The investigation method will serve as a fundamental component of twisted fiber bundle/yarn analysis.Xuefeng TENG Duoqi SHI Xin JING Shuangqi LYU Xiaoguang YANG 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,5:1

Improved minimum variance distortionless response spectrum method for efficient and robust non-uniform undersampled frequency identification in blade tip timing显示文摘The noncontact blade tip timing(BTT)measurement has been an attractive technology for blade health monitoring(BHM).However, the severe undersampled BTT signal causes a significant challenge for blade vibration parameter identification and fault feature extraction. This study proposes a novel method based on the minimum variance distortionless response(MVDR)of the direction of arrival(DoA)estimation for blade natural frequency estimation from the non-uniformly undersampled BTT signals.First, based on the similarity between the general data acquisition model for BTT and the antenna array model in DoA estimation, the circumferentially arranged probes on the casing can be regarded as a non-uniform linear array. Thus,BTT signal reconstruction is converted into the DoA estimation problem of the non-uniform linear array signal.Second,MVDR is employed to address the severe undersampling issue and recover the BTT undersampled signal. In particular, spatial smoothing is innovatively utilized to enhance the estimation of covariance matrix of the BTT signal to avoid ill-condition or singularity, while improving efficiency and robustness.Lastly, numerical simulation and experimental testing are employed to verify the validity of the proposed method.Monte Carlo simulation results suggest that the proposed method behaves better than conventional methods, especially under a lower signal-to-noise ratio condition.Experimental results indicate that the proposed method can effectively overcome the severe undersampling problem of BTT signal induced by physical limitations, and has a strong potential in the field of BHM.Ruochen JIN Laihao YANG Zhibo YANG Shaohua TIAN Guangrong TENG Xuefeng CHEN 2023Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2023,18,4:0
Record of hydrothermal activity in the Yuhuang hydrothermal field and its implications for the Southwest Indian Ridge:evidence from sulfide chronology显示文摘The Yuhuang hydrothermal field(YHF)is located between the Indomed and Gallieni fracture zones near the top of the off-axis slope on the south rift wall of Segment 29 on the ultraslow Southwest Indian Ridge(SWIR).Previous studies have shown that sulfides in the YHF formed during different mineralization episodes and the YHF has the greatest potential for the formation of large-scale seafloor massive sulfide deposits. However, the sulfide chronology and hydrothermal activity of the YHF remain poorly constrained. In this study, mineralogical analyses and 230Th/U dating were performed.Hydrothermal activity may start about(35.9±2.3)ka from the southwest part of the YHF and may cease about(708±81)a ago from the northeast part of the YHF.The 74 nonzero chronological data from hydrothermal sulfide samples provide the first quantitative characterization of the spatial and temporal history along the SWIR.Hydrothermal activity in the SWIR has been relatively active over the past20 ka.In contrast, between 40 ka and 100 ka,hydrothermal activity was relatively infrequently and short in duration. The maximum activity occurred at 15–11 ka,9–7 ka,6–0.2 ka.There was a slight positive correlation between the maximal age and estimated surface area or estimated tonnage. The minimum mass accumulation rate of YHF is about 278 t/a,which is higher than most HFs related to ultramafic systems. The ultraslow spreading SWIR has the greatest potential to form large-scale seafloor massive sulfides(SMS)deposits. The results of this study provide new insights into the metallogenic mechanism of hydrothermal sulfides along ultraslow-spreading ridges.Weifang Yang Chunhui Tao Shili Liao Jin Liang Wei Li Teng Ding Ágata Alveirinho Dias Xuefeng Wang Lisheng Wang 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,11:0
