1Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 2Optical observations of LIGO source GW 170817 by the Antarctic Survey Telescopes at Dome A,Antarctica显示文摘The LIGO detection of gravitational waves(GW) from merging black holes in 2015 marked the beginning of a new era in observational astronomy. The detection of an electromagnetic signal from a GW source is the critical next step to explore in detail the physics involved. The Antarctic Survey Telescopes(AST3),located at Dome A, Antarctica, is uniquely situated for rapid response time-domain astronomy with its continuous night-time coverage during the austral winter. We report optical observations of the GW source(GW 170817) in the nearby galaxy NGC 4993 using AST3. The data show a rapidly fading transient at around 1 day after the GW trigger, with the i-band magnitude declining from 17:23 ± 0:13 magnitude to 17:72 ± 0:09 magnitude in ~1:8 h. The brightness and time evolution of the optical transient associated with GW 170817 are broadly consistent with the predictions of models involving merging binary neutron stars. 3Preparation of Electrospun PVDF Nanofiber Composite Filter Medium and Its Application in Air Filtration显示文摘Nanofibrous media with both high particle interception efficiency and robust air permeability has broad technological applications in areas including individual protection, industrial security, and environmental governance. However, producing such filtration media has proven to be extremely challenging. Here we reported an approach to preparing and fabricating a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber composite filter medium composed of 2D PVDF nanofiber nets and a stable substrate via onestep electrospinning for effective air filtration. PVDF nanofibers are obtained by adjusting the electrospinning process. With the combined properties of ultrasmall diameter, high porosity, and a bonded scaffold, the resulting PVDF nanofiber composite filter medium exhibits a robust high filtration efficiency of 99.901%(equivalent to an F9 rating) for 0.4 mm particles and a long service life (a large dust holding capacity of 36 g/m^2) for ultrafine airborne particles based on the sieving principle and surface filtration behavior. 4Porosity and Oxide Layer Dependence of Thermal Shock Behavior of Porous Silicon Nitride Ceramics显示文摘A water-quenching technique has been adopted to evaluate thermal shock fracture and fatigue behaviors of porous Si3N4 ceramics in an air atmosphere. 5Microwave absorption performance of FeCoNiAlCr_(0.9)alloy powders by adjusting the amount of process control agent显示文摘Different amounts of absolute ethanol(0-50 mL)are used as process control agents(PCA)to prepare FeCoNiAlCr0.9 high entropy alloy(HEA)powders via 90 h ball milling.The results show that the increased amount of PCA plays an active role in the crystallinity of powders,and regulate the thickness and size distribution of flake particles.As the volume of PCA increases,the real and imaginary parts(ε′andε″)of complex permittivity get increased by the enhancement of the interface polarization and surface polarization,while the increase in the real and imaginary parts(μ′andμ″)of complex permeability arises from the increased anisotropic energy.The addition of PCA not only promotes the reflection loss but also extends the effective bandwidth(up to 4.28 GHz).Here,the performance adjustment of HEA electromagnetic absorber is realized by forthrightly changing the process parameters of ball milling.Yuping Duan Huifang Pang Xin Wen Xuefeng Zhang Tongmin Wang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,18:3
6Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 7Mechanism of petroleum migration and accumulation in western China's superposed basins显示文摘In western China,most petroliferous basins are superposed due to their multi-periodic tectonic evolution,and the mechanisms of petroleum migration and accumulation are so complex that much more sophisticated methodologies are necessary for depiction of these mechanisms and identification of petroleum occurrences.For this purpose,in this article,a new methodology was formulated which includes:(1) vertical identification of petroleum migration and accumulation fluid dynamic systems in the superposed basins;(2) analysis of the effect of large scale regional faults and fault combinations on the fluids exchange between the vertically identified different systems;(3) analysis of petroleum migration and accumulation in each vertically identified system,and establishment of appropriate geological model of petroleum migration and accumulation for each vertically identified system.Using this methodology,the satisfactory results obtained in the Lunnan Uplift of Tarim Basin and Ludong Uplift of Jungar Basin case studies are:(1) existence of different vertical fluid dynamic systems in western China's superposed basins which are very necessary for understanding the mechanism of petroleum migration and accumulation;(2) in deep system,long-distance lateral petroleum migration and accumulation mainly take place along the long time exposed unconformity with weathered,fractured or karst reservoir rocks;(3) regional faults are the main conducts for fluids migration from deep system up to middle and/or upper systems.As to middle and/or upper systems,regional faults play a role of ''petroleum source''.Small faults within middle and/or upper systems conduct petroleum to carrier beds with less impeding force;(4) petroleum migrated from deep system vertically up to middle and/or upper systems will migrate laterally in carrier beds of these systems and accumulate to form pools near or far from faults.Kang Yonghong Li Peijun Qi Xuefeng Wen Yonghong 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,2:2
8Impact of Drought on Agriculture in the Indo-Gangetic Plain,India显示文摘In this study, we investigate the spatiotemporal characteristics of drought in India and its impact on agriculture during the summer season(April–September). In the analysis, we use Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index(SPEI)datasets between 1982 and 2012 at the six-monthly timescale. Based on the criterion SPEI <-1, we obtain a map of the number of occurrences of drought and find that the humid subtropical Upper Middle Gangetic Plain(UMGP) region is highly drought-prone, with an occurrence frequency of 40%–45%. This UMGP region contributes at least 18%–20% of India's annual cereal production. Not only the probability of drought, but the UMGP region has become increasingly drought-prone in recent decades. Moreover, cereal production in the UMGP region has experienced a gradual declining trend from 2000 onwards, which is consistent with the increase in drought-affected areas from 20%–25% to 50%–60%, before and after 2000,respectively. A higher correlation coefficient(-0.69) between the cereal production changes and drought-affected areas confirms that at least 50% of the agricultural(cereal) losses are associated with drought. While analyzing the individual impact of precipitation and surface temperature on SPEI at 6 month timescale [SPEI(6)] we find that, in the UMGP region,surface temperature plays the primary role in the lowering of the SPEI. The linkage is further confirmed by correlation analysis between SPEI(6) and surface temperature, which exhibits strong negative values in the UMGP region. 9Secondary structural analysis of the mRNA regions encoding the hemagglutinin cleavage site basic amino acids of the avian influenza virus H5N1 subtype samples显示文摘Here we report the codon bias and the mRNA secondary structural features of the hemagglutinin(HA)cleavage site basic amino acid regions of avian influenza virus H5N1 subtypes.We have developed a dynamic extended folding strategy to predict RNA secondary structure with RNAstructure 4.1 program in an iterative extension process.Statistical analysis of the sequences showed that the HA cleavage site basic amino acids favor the adenine-rich codons,and the corresponding mRNA fragments are mainly in the folding states of single-stranded loops.Our sequential and structural analyses showed that to prevent and control these highly pathogenic viruses,that is,to inhibit the gene expression of avian influenza virus H5N1 subtypes,we should consider the single-stranded loop regions of the HA cleavage site-coding sequences as the targets of RNA interference.ZHANG SuXia WANG Xin CHEN XueFeng CAO Huai ZHANG Wen LIU CiQuan 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,3:2

12Simultaneous enhancement of coercivity and electric resistivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets by Pr-Tb-Al-Cu synergistic grain boundary diffusion toward high-temperature motor rotors显示文摘To high-power permanent magnetic motors,it is critical for Nd-Fe-B magnets to maintain the desirable coercivity at high-temperature operating conditions.To address this,two approaches have been proven effective:(1)enhancing the room temperature coercivity;(2)reducing the eddy current loss.However,these two items are difficult to be simultaneously achieved.Here,the grain boundary diffusion(GBD)of the Pr-Tb-Al-Cu-based source is applied to enhance the coercivity and electric resistivity at room temperature from 1101 kA m-1 and 2.13×10–6Ωm to 1917 kA m-1 and 2.60×10–6Ωm,and those at 120°C from 384 kA m-1 and 4.31×10–6Ωm to 783 kA m-1 and 4.86×10–6Ωm,respectively.Such optimization is ascribed to the improved formation depth of Tb-rich 2:14:1 shells with large magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the increased intergranular Pr-based oxides with high electric resistivity,induced by the coordination effects of Tb and Pr,as proven by the atomic-scale observations and the first principles calculations.It thus results in the simultaneously improved output power and energy efficiency of the motor because of the combination of magnetic thermal stability enhancement and eddy current loss reduction,as theoretically confirmed by electromagnetic simulation.Jiayi He Jinwen Hu Bang Zhou Haoyang Jia Xiaolian Liu Zhenhua Zhang Lin Wen Lizhong Zhao Hongya Yu Xichun Zhong Xuefeng Zhang Zhongwu Liu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,23:1
13Evolution of a Late Pleistocene palaeolake in Dali Nor area of southeastern Inner Mongolia Plateau,China显示文摘Lithological,geochronological,granulometric,and scanning electron microscope(SEM)analyses of eight lacustrine outcrops indicate the existence of a large palaeolake in Dali Nor area during 149-24.6 ka(MIS5-3)and a small one in upstream of the Xilamulun River during 12.96-11.69 ka.The large palaeolake recorded its highest water level above 1300 m during the MIS3 and covered the whole Dali Nor basin and upstream of the Xilamulun River within an area of about 3000 km^2.However,the small palaeolake with a highest water level above 1200 m,covered an area of about 600 km^2.Besides the reconstruction of palaeolake areas,this study also looked into the evolutionary process of the palaeolake during the Late Pleistocene.Our data provide insights on the timing of appearance of the large palaeolakes and a better understanding of the mechanism responsible for variations in the environment conditions of dry lands in middle latitudes.Yuanhong Lan Mingzhong Tian Xujiao Zhang Xuefeng Wen Chunjing Kang 2018Geoscience Frontiers2018,9,1:1
14CD4(+)CD25(+) treg induction by an HSP60-derived peptide SJMHE1 from schistosoma japonicum is TLR2 dependent显示文摘Chronic schistosome infection results in the suppression of host immune responses, allowing long-term schistosome survival and restricting pathology.Current theories suggest that Treg play an important role in this regulation.However, the mechanism of Treg induction during schistosome infection is still unknown.The aim of this study was to determine the mechanism behind the induction of CD4(+)CD25(+) T cells by Schistosoma japonicum HSP60(SjHSP60)-derived peptide SJMHE1 as well as to elucidate the cellular and molecular basis for the induction of CD4(+)CD25(+) T cells during S.japonicum infection.Mice immunized with SJMHE1 or spleen and LN cells from naive mice pretreated.with SJMHE1 in vitro all displayed an increase in CD4(+)CD25(+) T-cell populations.Release of IL-10 and TGF-beta by SJMHE1 stimulation may contribute to suppression.Adoptively transferred SJMHE1induced CD4(+)CD25(+) T cells inhibited delayed-type hypersensitivity in BALB / c mice.Additionally, SJMHE1-treated APC were tolerogenic and induced CD4(+) cells to differentiate into suppressive CD4(+)CD25(+) Treg.Furthermore, our data support a role for TLR2 in SJMHE1-mediated CD4(+)CD25(+) Treg induction.These findings provide the basis for a more complete understanding of the S.japonicum-host interactions that contribute to host homeostatic mechanisms, preventing an excessive immune response.Wang, Xuefeng Zhou, Sha Chi, Ying Wen, Xiaoyun Hoellwarth, Jason He, Lei Liu, Feng Wu, Calvin Dhesi, Shawn Zhao, Jiaqing Hu, Wei Su, Chuan 2010南京医科大学学报(自然科学版)2010,30,1:1

18Science with the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST)显示文摘The Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST) is a dedicated photometric surveying facility being built jointly by University of Science and Technology of China(USTC) and the Purple Mountain Observatory(PMO). It is equipped with a 2.5-meter diameter primary mirror, an active optics system, and a mosaic CCD camera with 0.73 gigapixels on the primary focal plane for highquality image capture over a 6.5-square-degree field of view. The installation of WFST near the summit of Saishiteng mountain in the Lenghu region is scheduled in summer of 2023, and the operation is planned to start three months later. WFST will scan the northern sky in four optical bands(u, g, r and i) at cadences from hourly/daily in the deep high-cadence survey(DHS) program, to semi-weekly in the wide field survey(WFS) program. During a photometric night, a nominal 30 s exposure in the WFS program will reach a depth of 22.27, 23.32, 22.84, and 22.31(AB magnitudes) in these four bands, respectively, allowing for the detection of a tremendous amount of transients in the low-z universe and a systematic investigation of the variability of Galactic and extragalactic objects. In the DHS program, intranight 90 s exposures as deep as 23(u) and 24 mag(g), in combination with target of opportunity follow-ups, will provide a unique opportunity to explore energetic transients in demand for high sensitivities, including the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, supernovae within a few hours of their explosions,tidal disruption events and fast, luminous optical transients even beyond redshift of unity. In addition, the final 6-year co-added images, anticipated to reach g■25.8 mag in WFS or 1.5 mags deeper in DHS, will be of fundamental importance to general Galactic and extragalactic science. The highly uniform legacy surveys of WFST will serve as an indispensable complement to those of the Vera C.
