Acute cerebrovascular disease following COVID-19: a single center, retrospective, observational study显示文摘Background and purpose COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Apart from respiratory complications, acute cerebrovascular disease(CVD)has been observed in some patients with COVID-19.Therefore,we described the clinical characteristics, laboratory features, treatment and outcomes of CVD complicating SARS-CoV-2 infection.Materials and methods Demographic and clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, treatments and clinical outcomes were collected and analysed.Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of patients with COVID-19 with or without new-onset CVD were compared. Results Of 219 patients with COVID-19,10(4.6%)developed acute ischaemic stroke and 1(0.5%)had intracerebral haemorrhage.COVID-19 with new onset of CVD were significantly older(75.7±10.8 years vs 52.1±15.3 years,p<0.001),more likely to present with severe COVID-19(81.8%vs 39.9%,p<0.01)and were more likely to have cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, diabetes and medical history of CVD(all p<0.05).In addition, they were more likely to have increased inflammatory response and hypercoagulable state as reflected in C reactive protein(51.1(1.3-127.9)vs 12.1(0.1-212.0)mg/L,p<0.05)and D-dimer(6.9(0.3-20.0)vs 0.5(0.1-20.0)mg/L,p<0.001).Of 10 patients with ischemic stroke;6 received antiplatelet treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel;and 3 of them died. The other four patients received anticoagulant treatment with enoxaparin and 2 of them died.As of 24 March 2020,six patients with CVD died(54.5%).Conclusion Acute CVD is not uncommon in COVID-19.Our findings suggest that older patients with risk factors are more likely to develop CVD.The development of CVD is an important negative prognostic factor which requires further study to identify optimal management strategy to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.Yanan Li Man Li Mengdie Wang Yifan Zhou Jiang Chang Ying Xian David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Bo Hu 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3:22

Intrinsic polarization coupling in 2Dα‐In_(2)Se_(3)toward artificial synapse with multimode operations显示文摘Emulation of advanced synaptic functions of the human brain with electronic devices contributes an important step toward constructing high‐efficiency neuromorphic systems.Ferroelectric materials are promising candidates as synaptic weight elements in neural network hardware due to their controllable polarization states. However, the increased depolarization field at the na-noscale and the complex fabrication process of the traditional ferroelectric materials hamper the development of high‐density, low‐power, and highly sensitive synaptic devices. Here,we report the implementation of two‐dimensional(2D)ferroelectricα‐In_(2)Se_(3)as an active channel material to emulate typical synaptic functions.Theα‐In_(2)Se_(3)‐based synaptic device fea-tures multimode operations, enabled by the coupled ferroelectric polarization under various voltage pulses applied at both drain and gate terminals. Moreover, the energy consumption can be reduced to~1 pJ by using high‐κdielectric(Al2O3).The successful control of ferroelectric polarizations inα‐In_(2)Se_(3)and its application in artificial synapses are expected to inspire the implementation of 2D ferroelectric materials for future neuromorphic systems.Jing Gao Yue Zheng Wei Yu Yanan Wang Tengyu Jin Xuan Pan Kian Ping Loh Wei Chen 2021SmartMat2021,2,1:4
Geniposide, the component of the Chinese herbal formula Tongluojiunao, protects amyloid-β peptide(1–42)-mediated death of hippocampal neurons via the non-classical estrogen signaling pathway显示文摘Tongluojiunao(TLJN) is an herbal medicine consisting of two main components, geniposide and ginsenoside Rg1. TLJN has been shown to protect primary cultured hippocampal neurons. However, its mechanism of action remains unclear. In the present study, primary cultured hippocampal neurons treated with Aβ1–42(10 μmol/L) significantly increased the release of lactate dehydrogenase, which was markedly reduced by TLJN(2 μL/mL), specifically by the component geniposide(26 μmol/L), but not ginsenoside Rg1(2.5 μmol/L). The estrogen receptor inhibitor, ICI182780(1 μmol/L), did not block TLJN- or geniposide-mediated decrease of lactate dehydrogenase under Aβ1–42-exposed conditions. However, the phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase or mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway inhibitor, LY294002(50 μmol/L) or U0126(10 μmol/L), respectively blo cked the decrease of lactate dehydrogenase mediated by TLJN or geniposide. Therefore, these results suggest that the non-classical estrogen pathway(i.e., phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase or mitogen-activated protein kinase) is involved in the neuroprotective effect of TLJN, specifically its component, geniposide, against Aβ1–42-mediated cell death in primary cultured hippocampal neurons.Jiao Li Feng Wang Haimin Ding Chunyan Jin Jinyan Chen Yanan Zhao Xiaojing Li Wenju Chen Ping Sun Yan Tan Qi Zhang Xu Wang Angran Fan Qian Hua 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,5:3
Two-dimensional MXene hollow fiber membrane for divalent ions exclusion from water显示文摘Two-dimensional material membranes with fast transport channels and versatile chemical functionality are promising for molecular separation.Herein, for the first time,we reported design and engineering of two-dimensional Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx MXene(called transition metal carbides and nitrides)membranes supported on asymmetric polymeric hollow fiber substrate for water desalination. The membrane morphology, physicochemical properties and ions exclusion performance were systematically investigated. The results demonstrated that surface hydrophilicity and electrostatic repulsion and size sieving effect of interlayer channels synergistically endowed the MXene hollow fiber membrane with fast water permeation and efficient rejection of divalent ions during nanofiltration process.Guozhen Liu Yanan Guo Baochun Meng Zhenggang Wang Gongping Liu Wanqin Jin 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,1:3
Consensus for prevention and management of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for neurologists显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID‐19)has become a pandemic disease globally.Although COVID-19 directly invades lungs,it also involves the nervous system. Therefore, patients with nervous system involvement as the presenting symptoms in the early stage of infection may easily be misdiagnosed and their treatment delayed. They become silent contagious sources or‘virus spreaders’.In order to help neurologists to better understand the occurrence, development and prognosis,we have developed this consensus of prevention and management of COVID‐19.It can also assist other healthcare providers to be familiar with and recognise COVID-19 in their evaluation of patients in the clinic and hospital environment.Huijuan Jin Candong Hong Shengcai Chen Yifan Zhou Yong Wang Ling Mao Yanan Li Quanwei He Man Li Ying Su David Wang Longde Wang Bo Hu 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,2:3
Band-tailored van der Waals heterostructure for multilevel memory and artificial synapse显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals heterostructure(vdWH)-based floating gate devices show great potential for next-generation nonvolatile and multilevel data storage memory. However, high program voltage induced substantial energy consumption, which is one of the primary concerns, hinders their applications in lowenergy-consumption artificial synapses for neuromorphic computing. In this study,we demonstrate a three-terminal floating gate device based on the vdWH of tin disulfide(SnS2),hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN),and few-layer graphene. The large electron affinity of SnS2 facilitates a significant reduction in the program voltage of the device by lowering the hole-injection barrier across h-BN.Our floating gate device,as a nonvolatile multilevel electronic memory, exhibits large on/off current ratio(105),good retention(over 104 s),and robust endurance(over 1000 cycles). Moreover,it can function as an artificial synapse to emulate basic synaptic functions.Further, low energy consumption down to7 picojoule(pJ)can be achieved owing to the small program voltage.High linearity(<1)and conductance ratio(80)in long-term potentiation and depression(LTP/LTD)further contribute to the high pattern recognition accuracy(90%)in artificial neural network simulation. The proposed device with attentive band engineering can promote the future development of energy-efficient memory and neuromorphic devices.Yanan Wang Yue Zheng Jing Gao Tengyu Jin Enlong Li Xu Lian Xuan Pan Cheng Han Huipeng Chen Wei Chen 2021InfoMat2021,3,8:3
GOLM1 restricts colitis and colon tumorigenesis by ensuring Notch signaling equilibrium in intestinal homeostasis显示文摘Intestinal epithelium serves as the first barrier against the infections and injuries that mediate colonic inflammation.Colorectal cancer is often accompanied with chronic inflammation.Differed from its well-known oncogenic role in many malignancies,we present here that Golgi membrane protein 1(G0LM1,also referred to as GP73)suppresses colorectal tumorigenesis via maintenance of intestinal epithelial barrier.G0LM1 deficiency in mice conferred susceptibility to mucosal inflammation and colitis-induced epithelial damage, which consequently promoted colon cancer.Mechanistically, depletion of G0LM1 in intestinal epithelial cells(lECs)led to aberrant Notch activation that interfered with IEC differentiation, maturation, and lineage commitment in mice.Pharmacological inhibition of Notch pathway alleviated epithelial lesions and restrained pro-tumorigenic inflammation in G0LM1-deficient mice.Therefore,G0LM1 maintains IEC homeostasis and protects against colitis and colon tumorigenesis by modulating the equilibrium of Notch signaling pathway.Yang Pu Ya Song Mengdi Zhang Caifeng Long Jie Li Yanan Wang Yinzhe Xu Fei Pan Na Zhao Xinyu Zhang Yanan Xu Jianxin Cui Hongying Wang Yan Li Yong Zhao Di Jin Hongbing Zhang 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,5:2
Clinical time course of COVID-19, its neurological manifestation and some thoughts on its management显示文摘Coronavirus disease-2019(COVID‐19)has become a global pandemic.COVID-19 runs its course in two phases, the initial incubation phase and later clinical symptomatic phase.Patients in the initial incubation phase often have insidious clinical symptoms, but they are still highly contagious. At the later clinical symptomatic phase, the immune system is fully activated and the disease may enter the severe infection stage in this phase.Although many patients are known for their respiratory symptoms, they had neurological symptoms in their first 1-2 days of clinical symptomatic phase, and ischaemic stroke occurred 2 weeks after the onset of the clinical symptomatic phase. The key is to prevent a patient from progressing to this severe infection from mild infection. We are sharing our experience on prevention and management of COVID-19.Yifan Zhou Wei Li David Wang Ling Mao Huijuan Jin Yanan Li Candong Hong Shengcai Chen Jiang Chang Quanwei He Mengdie Wang Bo Hu 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,2:2

Research on the photoluminescence of spectral broadening by rapid thermal annealing on InAs/GaAs quantum dots显示文摘Photoluminescence (PL) test was conducted to investigate the effect of rapid thermal annealing (RTA) on the opticalperformance of self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) at the temperatures of 16 and 300 K. It was found that after RTAtreatment, the PL spectrum of the QDs sample had a large blue-shift and significantly broadened at 300 K. Compared with theas-grown InAs QDs sample, the PL spectral width has increased by 44.68 meV in the InAs QDs sample RTA-treated at800 ℃. The excitation power-dependent PL measurements showed that the broadening of the PL peaks of the RTA-treatedInAs QDs should be related to the emission of the ground state (GS) of different-sized InAs QDs, the InAs wetting layer (WL)and the In0.15Ga0.85As strain reduction layer (SRL) in the epitaxial InAs/GaAs layers.Dandan Ning Yanan Chen Xinkun Li Dechun Liang Shufang Ma Peng Jin Zhanguo Wang 2020Journal of Semiconductors2020,41,12:1
Effect of different pruning operations on the plant growth, phytohormones and transcriptome profiles of the following spring tea shoots显示文摘Pruning as an important agronomic operation plays a crucial role in the regulation of tea plant growth, development and dry tea quality. The effects of different pruning operations on the plant growth, phytohormones and transcriptome profiles of the following spring tea shoots were studied.Pruning-treated samples had generally increased median of the weight of 100 buds(two leaves and one bud,15.5−20.5 g)and longer stem diameter(1.7−1.8 mm)whereas shorter shoot length(34.6−59.2 mm)at the stage of two leaves and one bud, compared with unpruned samples(14.0 g,1.7 mm,87.4 mm),among which heavy pruning in mid April and early May greatly accelerated the development of the following spring tea shoots. The levels of phytohormones(auxin, gibberellin 1,gibberellin 3,and trans-zeatin)were significantly increased in the spring buds of tea plants heavily pruned in May.The KEGG result indicated that the pathways of plant–pathogen interaction, plant hormone signal transduction and circadian rhythm were regulated by different pruning treatments.Heavy pruning in April or May,without autumn pruning was suitable for producing premium green tea due to the early development and the higher weight of 100 buds. This study provides scientific guidance to regulate the growth of the following spring tea shoots using plant pruning operations.Lu Lu Wenwen Luo Yanan Zheng Jing Jin Ruyi Liu Yiqing Lv Ying Ye Jianhui Ye 2022Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1:1
The effect of oxygen on the epitaxial growth of diamond显示文摘We studied the effect of oxygen on the growth quality of diamond epitaxial layers. After oxygen is added during the growth of the diamond epitaxial layer, as the thickness of the epitaxial layer increases, the full width at half maximum of the rocking curve of the(004) plane of diamond epitaxial layer increases continuously, and, in addition, the intensities of both the Raman peaks and the free exciton emission peaks of the diamond epitaxial layer decrease continuously. These experimental results demonstrate that as the thickness of the diamond epitaxial layer increases, the quality of the diamond epitaxial layer degrades. The strong etching effect of the OH radical groups in the plasma on the diamond epilayers leads to the degradation of their crystallinity.Meng Gong Yanan Chen Wancheng Yu Peng Jin Zhanguo Wang Zhimin Wang Shenjin Zhang Feng Yang Fengfeng Zhang Qinjun Peng Zuyan Xu 2018Journal of Semiconductors2018,39,12:1

Dietary supplementation with 2-hydroxy-4-methyl(thio)butanoic acid and DL-methionine improves productive performance, egg quality and redox status of commercial laying ducks显示文摘This experiment aimed to study the effects of supplemental methionine sources,2-hydroxy-4 methyl(thio)butanoic acid(HMTBa)and DL-Methionine(DL-Met),on productive performance, egg quality, and redox status of laying ducks.A total of 792 healthy 25-wk-old Longyan laying ducks with similar body weights were randomly allotted to 11 treatment groups. Each treatment group had 6 replicates of 12 ducks. The trial lasted for 16 wk.Ducks were fed a basal deficient diet(Met:0.24%;Met+Cys:0.51%)or supplemented with DL-Met or HMTBa at 0.05%,0.12%,0.19%,0.26%,and 0.33%of diet, respectively.Compared with the basal diet, supplementation with either DL-Met or HMTBa increased the average egg weight, egg mass, and decreased feed to egg ratio during the whole trial period(P<0.05).Albumen weight and its ratio to total egg weight were increased, but yolk and shell ratio, albumen height,Haugh unit and shell breaking strength were decreased(P<0.05).Dietary DL-Met or HMTBa supplementation increased taurine, methionine, leucine, tryptophan and arginine content, and decreased serine and lysine content in plasma(P<0.05).The redox status of laying ducks was improved by enhancing the glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities, glutathione content and its ratio relative to glutathione(oxidized)content and decreasing malondialdehyde content and increasing mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase-1,glutathione peroxidase-1,hemeoxygenase-1 and nuclear factor-like 2 in liver and ileum with the supplementation of DL-Met or HMTBa(P<0.05).Liver health status measured by average area proportion lipid droplet was improved with supplementation of DL-Met or HMTBa(P<0.05).Villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in the ileum and the ileal gene expression of tight junction protein and occludin were increased with DL-Met or HMTBa supplementation(P<0.05).Taken together, these results suggested that the efficacy of dietary supplementation of HMTBa was similar to DL-Met,and it ranged from 98%to 100%for productive performance and egg albumen ratio in laying ducks(25 to 41 wk).Yanan Zhang Zhiwei Zhuang Tahir Mahmood Yves Mercier Yongyan Jin Xuebing Huang Kaichao Li Shuang Wang Weiguang Xia Shenglin Wang Miao Yu Wei Chen Chuntian Zheng 2023Animal Nutrition2023,,3:1
Genomic insights into the origin, adaptive evolution, and herbicide resistance of Leptochloa chinensis, a devastating tetraploid weedy grass in rice fields显示文摘Chinese sprangletop (Leptochloa chinensis), belonging to the grass subfamily Chloridoideae, is one of the most notorious weeds in rice ecosystems. Here, we report a chromosome-scale reference genome assembly and a genomic variation map of the tetraploid L. chinensis. The L. chinensis genome is derived from two diploid progenitors that diverged ∼10.9 million years ago, and its two subgenomes display neither fractionation bias nor overall gene expression dominance. Comparative genomic analyses reveal substantial genome rearrangements in L. chinensis after its divergence from the common ancestor of Chloridoideae and, together with transcriptome profiling, demonstrate the important contribution of tetraploidization to the gene sources for the herbicide resistance of L. chinensis. Population genomic analyses of 89 accessions from China reveal that L. chinensis accessions collected from southern/southwestern provinces have substantially higher nucleotide diversity than those from the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, suggesting that L. chinensis spread in China from the southern/southwestern provinces to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. During this spread, L. chinensis developed significantly increased herbicide resistance, accompanied by the selection of numerous genes involved in herbicide resistance. Taken together, our study generated valuable genomic resources for future fundamental research and agricultural management of L. chinensis, and provides significant new insights into the herbicide resistance as well as the origin and adaptive evolution of L. chinensis.Lifeng Wang Xuepeng Sun Yajun Peng Ke Chen Shan Wu Yanan Guo Jingyuan Zhang Haona Yang Tao Jin Lamei Wu Xiaomao Zhou Bin Liang Zhenghong Zhao Ducai Liu Zhangjun Fei Lianyang Bai 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,6:1
Enhanced inhibitory control during re-engagement processing in badminton athletes:An event-related potential study显示文摘Purpose:The purpose of present study was to investigate the impact of sport experience on response inhibition and response re-engagement in expert badminton athletes during the stop-signal task and change-signal task. Methods:A total of 19 badminton athletes and 20 nonathletes performed both the stop-signal task and change-signal task.Reaction times(RTs)and event-related potentials were recorded and analyzed. Results:Behavioral results indicated that badminton athletes responded faster than nonathletes to go stimuli and to change signals, with faster change RTs and change-signal RTs,which take into consideration the variable stimulus onset time mean.During successful change trials in the change-signal task, the amplitudes of the event-related potential components N2 and P3 were smaller for badminton athletes than for nonathletes.Moreover,change-signal RTs and N2 amplitudes as well as change RTs and P3 amplitudes were significantly correlated in badminton athletes.A significant correlation was also found between the amplitude of the event-related potential component N1 and response accuracy to change signals in badminton athletes. Conclusion:Moderation of brain cortical activity in badminton athletes was more associated with their ability to rapidly inhibit a planned movement and re-engage with a new movement compared with nonathletes. The superior inhibitory control and more efficient neural mechanisms in badminton athletes compared with nonathletes might be a result of badminton athletes’ professional training experience.Jiacheng Chen Yanan Li Guanghui Zhang Xinhong Jin Yingzhi Lu Chenglin Zhou 2019Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,6:1
