| 1 | Preliminary results pertaining to coseismic displacement and preseismic strain accumulation of the Lushan M_S7.0 earthquake,as reflected by GPS surveying显示文摘This paper presents the coseismic displacement and preseismic deformation fields of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake that occurred on April 20,2013.The results are based on GPS observations along the Longmenshan fault and within its vicinity.The coseismic displacement and preseismic GPS results indicate that in the strain release of this earthquake,the thrust rupture is dominant and the laevorotation movement is secondary.Furthermore,we infer that any possible the rupture does not reach the earth’s surface,and the seismogenic fault is most likely one fault to the east of the Guanxian-Anxian fault.Some detailed results are obtainable.(1)The southern segment of the Longmenshan fault is locked preceding the Lushan earthquake.After the Wenchuan earthquake,the strain accumulation rate in the southeast direction accelerates in the epicenter of the Lushan earthquake,and the angle between the principal compressional strain and the seismogenic fault indicates that a sinistral deformation background in the direction of the seismogenic fault precedes the Lushan earthquake.Therefore,it is evident that the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake accelerated the pregnancy of the Lushan earthquake.(2)The coseismic displacements reflected by GPS data are mainly located in a region that is 230 km(NW direction)×100 km(SW direction),and coseismic displacements larger than 10 mm lie predominantly in a100-km region(NW direction).(3)On a large scale,the coseismic displacement shows thrust characteristics,but the associated values are remarkably small in the near field(within 70 km)of the earthquake fault.Meanwhile,the thrust movement in this70-km region does not correspond with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release,indicating that the rupture of this earthquake does not reach the earth’s surface.(4)The laevorotation movements are remarkable in the 50-km region,which is located in the hanging wall that is close to the earthquake fault,and the corresponding values in this case correlate with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release. | WU YanQiang JIANG ZaiSen WANG Min CHE Shi LIAO Hua LI Qiang LI Peng YANG YongLin XIANG HePing SHAO ZhiGang WANG WuXing WEI WenXin LIU XiaoXia | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28: | 33 |
| 2 | Rapid afterslip and short-term viscoelastic relaxation following the 2008 M_W7.9 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘Significant postseismic deformation of the 2008 M W 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake has been observed from GPS data of the first 14 days after the earthquake. The possible mechanisms for the rapid postseismic deformation are assumed to be afterslip on the earthquake rupture plane and viscoelastic relaxation of coseismiclly stress change in the lower crust or upper mantle. We firstly use the constrained least squares method to find an afterslip model which can fit the GPS data best. The afterslip model can explain near-field data very well but shows considerable discrepancies in fitting far-field data. To estimate the effect due to the viscoelastic relaxation in the lower crust, we then ignore the contribution from the afterslip and attempt to invert the viscosity structure beneath the Longmenshan fault where the Wenchuan earthquake occurred from the postseismic deformation data. For this purpose, we use a viscoelastic model with a 2D geometry based on the geological and seismological observations and the coseismic slip distribution derived from the coseismic GPS and InSAR data. By means of a grid search we find that the optimum viscosity is 9×10 18 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chengdu Basin, 4×10 17 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chuanxi Plateau and 7×10 17 Pa·s for the low velocity zone in the Chuanxi plateau. The viscoelastic model explains the postseismic deformation observed in the far-field satisfactorily, but it is considerably worse than the afterslip model in fitting the near-fault data. It suggests therefore a hybrid model including both afterslip and relaxation effects. Since the viscoelastic model produces mainly the far-field surface deformation and has fewer degree of freedoms (three viscosity parameters) than the afterslip model with a huge number of source parameters, we fix the viscositiy structure as obtained before but redetermine the afterslip distribution using the residual data from the viscoelastic modeling. The redetermined afterslip distribution becomes physically more reasonable; it is more localized and exhibits a pattern spatially complementary with the coseismic rupture distribution. | 3 | Preseismic deformation in the seismogenic zone of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake detected by GPS observations显示文摘A continuous GPS array across the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone recorded the deformation during the process of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake that occurred on April 20, 2013. Such data can provide meaningful information regarding the dynamic evolution of crustal deformation in the seismogenic zone. Our studies have shown that the occurrence of the Wenchuan earthquake led to the loading of compressive and sinistral shearing strain on the southern segment of the Maoxian-Wenchuan fault, whereby the extrusion strain accumulated at a greater rate than before the Wenchuan earthquake. The strain time series in the seismogenic zone revealed that the principal compression strain rates decreased from west to east in the direction of N30°–45°W. Furthermore, the area to the east of Beichuan-Yingxiu fault behaved as a zone of compressive deformation with obvious sinistral shearing deformation. The surface strain and the first shearing strain time series decreased with time, while the area to the west of the Beichuan-Yingxiu fault behaved as a zone of dextral shear deformation that increased with time. Furthermore, the regional deformation field before the Lushan earthquake showed that the rate of extrusion strain accumulation in the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone was obviously larger than before the Wenchuan earthquake. Moreover, the sinistral shearing strain accumulated in the area of the southern segment of the Maoxian-Wenchuan fault. | 7 | Cognitions and questions regarding crustal deformation and location forecasts of strong earthquakes显示文摘Using Global Positioning System(GPS) data to analyze the earthquake preparation characteristics of the Kunlun Ms8.1 and the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquakes, we review the main research developments of earthquake forecasting and the mechanisms of earthquake preparation using crustal deformation data from recent periods, and discuss the similarities and differences in the scientific approaches adopted by the Chinese and foreign scholars. We then analyze the deformation characteristics of earthquake preparation, with respect to slip and dip-slip faults. Our results show that, in order to understand the relationship between crustal deformation and earthquake preparation, research focus should be expanded from fault-scale to larger scale regions. This issue is analyzed through theoretical deduction and practical example in this paper. Firstly,the difference between the results of Euler vectors in different solving models is deduced. Meanwhile, based on GNSS horizontal movement field in the Chinese mainland from 2004 to 2007,two common models( RRM and REHSM) are used to discuss the impact of solving models on Euler vectors and the follow-up study. | 11 | The Dynamic Characteristics of Strain Fields and Crustal Movement before the Wenchuan Earthquake (M_S=8.0)显示文摘In this paper, we analyze the crustal movements, strain field changes and large scale dynamic characteristics of horizontal deformation before the Wenchuan earthquake (M_S=8.0) using GPS data obtained from the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China. The following issues are discussed. First, the strain fields of the Longmenshan fault zone located at the epicenter show slow accumulation, because of the tectonic dynamics process subjected to the eastward movement of the Bayan Har block. Second, the different movements between the Longmenshan fault and South China block are smaller than the errors of GPS observation. Third, the high value of compressive strain (2004~2007) is located at the epicenter, which shows that the local squeezing action is stronger than before. | 13 | Role of depressive symptoms in cardiometabolic diseases and subsequent transitions to all-cause mortality:an application of multistate models in a prospective cohort study显示文摘Background and purpose The role of depression in the development and outcome of cardiometabolic diseases remains to be clarified.We aimed to examine the extent to which depressive symptoms affect the transitions from healthy to diabetes,stroke,heart disease and subsequent all-cause mortality in a middle-aged and elderly European population.Methods A total of 78212 individuals aged≥50 years from the Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe were included.Participants with any baseline cardiometabolic diseases including diabetes,stroke and heart disease were excluded.Depressive symptoms were measured by the Euro-Depression scale at baseline.Participants were followed up to determine the occurrence of cardiometabolic diseases and all-cause mortality.We used multistate models to estimate the transition-specific HRs and 95%CIs after adjustment of confounders.Results During 500711 person-years of follow-up,4742 participants developed diabetes,2173 had stroke,5487 developed heart disease and 7182 died.Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with transitions from healthy to diabetes(HR:1.12,95%CI:1.05 to 1.20),stroke(HR:1.31,95%CI:1.18 to 1.44),heart disease(HR:1.26,95%CI:1.18 to 1.34)and all-cause mortality(HR:1.41,95%CI:1.34 to 1.49).After cardiometabolic diseases,depressive symptoms were associated with the increased risk of all-cause mortality in patients with diabetes(HR:1.54,95%CI:1.25 to 1.89),patients who had stroke(HR:1.29,95%CI:1.03 to 1.61)and patients with heart disease(HR:1.21,95%CI:1.02 to 1.44).Conclusions Depressive symptoms increase the risk of diabetes,stroke and heart disease,and affect the risk of mortality after the onset of these cardiometabolic conditions.Screening and treatment of depressive symptoms may have profound implications for the prevention and prognosis of cardiometabolic diseases. | Yanan Qiao Siyuan Liu Guochen Li Yanqiang Lu Ying Wu Yi Ding Chaofu Ke | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,4: | 1 |

The results show that: on the Longmenshan fault zone,the tensional and compressive slip rate is small on the Baoxing-Wenchuan segment,about 0. 5 ~ 1. 8mm·a- 1, and the rate is relatively significant on the segment of the Wenchuan-Maoxian,as 1. 8 ~ 3. 8mm·a- 1; on the Xianshuihe fault belt,there is a certain difference in spatial distribution between the tensional slip rate and strike-slip rate: the tensional slip rate( 8. 1mm·a- 1) is bigger than the sinistral strike-slip rate( 4. 8mm·a- 1) at the north of the Luhuo region; the tension and compression slip rate is basically the same as the strike-slip rate at Luhuo-Dawu; the Dawu-Kangding section presents a trend of decreased strike-slip rate and increased tensional slip rate; the Kangding-Shimian segment shows a strike-slip nature; the strike-slip rate is significantly greater than the tension /compression rate on the Xiaojiang fault zone; the slip rate on the Red River fault zone shows obvious spatial segmentation,the slip rate is smaller in its northwest part,but with a certain amount of tensional /compression component,4. 7mm·a- 1on the Jingdong segment.
