Rapid afterslip and short-term viscoelastic relaxation following the 2008 M_W7.9 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘Significant postseismic deformation of the 2008 M W 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake has been observed from GPS data of the first 14 days after the earthquake. The possible mechanisms for the rapid postseismic deformation are assumed to be afterslip on the earthquake rupture plane and viscoelastic relaxation of coseismiclly stress change in the lower crust or upper mantle. We firstly use the constrained least squares method to find an afterslip model which can fit the GPS data best. The afterslip model can explain near-field data very well but shows considerable discrepancies in fitting far-field data. To estimate the effect due to the viscoelastic relaxation in the lower crust, we then ignore the contribution from the afterslip and attempt to invert the viscosity structure beneath the Longmenshan fault where the Wenchuan earthquake occurred from the postseismic deformation data. For this purpose, we use a viscoelastic model with a 2D geometry based on the geological and seismological observations and the coseismic slip distribution derived from the coseismic GPS and InSAR data. By means of a grid search we find that the optimum viscosity is 9×10 18 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chengdu Basin, 4×10 17 Pa·s for the middle-lower crust in the Chuanxi Plateau and 7×10 17 Pa·s for the low velocity zone in the Chuanxi plateau. The viscoelastic model explains the postseismic deformation observed in the far-field satisfactorily, but it is considerably worse than the afterslip model in fitting the near-fault data. It suggests therefore a hybrid model including both afterslip and relaxation effects. Since the viscoelastic model produces mainly the far-field surface deformation and has fewer degree of freedoms (three viscosity parameters) than the afterslip model with a huge number of source parameters, we fix the viscositiy structure as obtained before but redetermine the afterslip distribution using the residual data from the viscoelastic modeling. The redetermined afterslip distribution becomes physically more reasonable; it is more localized and exhibits a pattern spatially complementary with the coseismic rupture distribution. We conclude that the aseismic fault slip is responsible for the near-fault postseismic deformation, whereas the viscoelastic stress relaxation might be the major cause for the far-field postseismic deformation.Zhigang Shao Rongjiang Wang Yanqiang Wu Langping Zhang 2011Earthquake Science2011,24,2:12
The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. In particular, its wide field monitoring capabilities will be highly instrumental to detect the electro-magnetic counterparts of gravitational wave sources. The paper provides a detailed description of:(1) the technological and technical aspects, and the expected performance of the instruments of the scientific payload;(2) the elements and functions of the mission, from the spacecraft to the ground segment.ShuangNan Zhang Andrea Santangelo Marco Feroci YuPeng Xu FangJun Lu Yong Chen Hua Feng Shu Zhang Sφren Brandt Margarita Hernanz Luca Baldini Enrico Bozzo Riccardo Campana Alessandra De Rosa YongWei Dong Yuri Evangelista Vladimir Karas Norbert Meidinger Aline Meuris Kirpal Nandra Teng Pan Giovanni Pareschi Piotr Orleanski QiuShi Huang Stephane Schanne Giorgia Sironi Daniele Spiga Jiri Svoboda Gianpiero Tagliaferri Christoph Tenzer Andrea Vacchi Silvia Zane Dave Walton ZhanShan Wang Berend Winter Xin Wu Jean J.M.in't Zand Mahdi Ahangarianabhari Giovanni Ambrosi Filippo Ambrosino Marco Barbera Stefano Basso Jörg Bayer Ronaldo Bellazzini Pierluigi Bellutti Bruna Bertucci Giuseppe Bertuccio Giacomo Borghi XueLei Cao Franck Cadoux Francesco Ceraudo TianXiang Chen Yu Peng Chen Jerome Chevenez Marta Civitani Wei Cui WeiWei Cui Thomas Dauser Ettore Del Monte Sergio Di Cosimo Sebastian Diebold Victor Doroshenko Michal Dovciak YuanYuan Du Lorenzo Ducci QingMei Fan Yannick Favre Fabio Fuschino JoséLuis Ga'lvez Min Gao MingYu Ge Olivier Gevin Marco Grassi QuanYing Gu YuDong Gu DaWei Han Bin Hong Wei Hu Long Ji ShuMei Jia WeiChun Jiang Thomas Kennedy Ingo Kreykenbohm Irfan Kuvvetli Claudio Labanti Luca Latronico Gang Li MaoShun Li Xian Li Wei Li ZhengWei Li Olivier Limousin HongWei Liu XiaoJing Liu Bo Lu Tao Luo Daniele Macera Piero Malcovati Adrian Martindale Malgorzata Michalska Bin Meng Massimo Minuti Alfredo Morbidini Fabio Muleri Stephane Paltani Emanuele Perinati Antonino Picciotto Claudio Piemonte JinLu Qu Alexandre Rachevski Irina Rashevskaya Jerome Rodriguez Thomas Schanz ZhengXiang Shen LiZhi Sheng JiangBo Song LiMing Song Carmelo Sgro Liang Sun Ying Tan Phil Uttley Bo Wang DianLong Wang GuoFeng Wang Juan Wang LangPing Wang YuSa Wang Anna L.Watts XiangYang Wen Jörn Wilms ShaoLin Xiong JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang Nian Yu WenDa Zhang Gianluigi Zampa Nicola Zampa Andrzej A.Zdziarski AiMei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang Long Zhang Tong Zhang Yi Zhang XiaoLi Zhang ZiLiang Zhang BaoSheng Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yu Peng Zhou Nicola Zorzi J.Frans Zwart 2019Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2019,62,2:11
Fabrication of micro-fine high Nb-containing TiAl alloyed powders by fluidized bed jet milling显示文摘A fluidized bed jet milling process was used to make micro-fine high Nb-containing TiAl alloyed powders from the chippings obtained by crushing the Ti-45Al-8.5Nb-(W,B,Y) ingot. The influences of classifier frequency on powder characteristics were investigated. The results show that the powders with controlled average particle size can be prepared on a large scale. The powders with different sizes are all dominated by γ with aminor amount of α2-Ti3Al.The particle size significantly decreases with the classifier frequency increasing. At a classifier frequency higher than 38 Hz,the average particle size of the ground powders is lower than 25μm.The powders are composed of two differ-ent sizes of particles:shaped particles and some clastic particles, and both particle sizes meet the log-normal distribution. With the classifier frequency increasing, the both sizes decrease;meanwhile, the proportion of the clastic particles gradually increases, and the size distribution span value of the ground powders increases correspondingly.Lu, Xin Zhu, Langping Liu, Chengcheng Zhang, Lin Wu, Mao Qu, Xuanhui 2012Rare Metals2012,31,1:8
The plate contact geometry investigation based on earthquake source parameters at the Burma arc subduction zone显示文摘Accurately characterizing the three-dimensional geometric contacts between the crust of the Chinese mainland and adjacent regions is important for understanding the dynamics of this part of Asia from the viewpoint of global plate systems. In this paper,a method is introduced to investigate the geometric contacts between the Eurasian and Indian plates at the Burma arc subduction zone using earthquake source parameters based on the Slab1.0 model of Hayes et al.(2009,2010).The distribution of earthquake focus depths positioned in 166 sections along the Burma Arc subduction zone boundary has been investigated. Linear plane fitting and curved surface fitting has been performed on each section.Three-dimensional geometric contacts and the extent of subduction are defined quantitatively. Finally, the focal depth distribution is outlined for six typical sections along the Burma arc subduction zone, combining focal mechanisms with background knowledge of geologic structure.Possible dynamic interaction patterns are presented and discussed. This paper provides an elementary method for studying the geometric contact of the Chinese mainland crust with adjacent plates and serves as a global reference for dynamic interactions between plates and related geodynamic investigations.ZHANG LangPing SHAO ZhiGang MA HongSheng WANG XingZhou LI ZhiHai 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,5:8
Geological and surfacial processes and major disaster effects in the Yellow River Basin显示文摘The Yellow River Basin(YRB) is characterized by active geological and tectonic processes, rapid geomorphological evolution, and distinct climatic diversity. Correspondingly, major disasters in the YRB are characterized by varied types, extensive distributions, and sudden occurrences. In addition, major disasters in the YRB usually evolve into disaster chains that cause severe consequences. Therefore, major disasters in the YRB destroy ecologies and environments and influence geological and ecological safety in the basin. This paper systematically reviews research on geological and surface processes, major disaster effects, and risk mitigation in the YRB, discusses the trends and challenges of relevant research, analyzes the key scientific problems that need to be solved, and suggests prospects for future research based on the earth system science concept. Themes of research that should be focused on include geological, surface and climatic processes in the YRB and their interlinking disaster gestation mechanisms;formation mechanisms and disaster chain evolutions of giant landslides in the upper reach of the YRB;mechanisms and disaster chain effects of loess water-soil disasters in the middle reach of the YRB;occurrence patterns and amplifying effects of giant flood chains in the lower reach of the YRB;and risk mitigations of major disasters in the YRB. Key scientific problems that need to be solved are as follows: how to reveal the geological, surface and climatic processes that are coupled and interlinked with gestation mechanisms of major disasters;how to clarify the mutual feedback effects between major disasters and ecology;and how to develop a human-environmental harmony-based integrated risk mitigation system for major disasters. Prospects for future studies that follow the earth system science concept include the following: highlighting interdisciplinary research to reveal the interlinked disaster gestation mechanisms of the geology, surface and climate in the YRB in the past, present, and future;forming theories to clarify the regional patterns, dynamic mechanisms, and mutual-feedback effects between disaster chains and ecology in the YRB on land and in rivers in the region;solving technological bottlenecks to develop assessment models and mitigation theories for integrated risks in the YRB by following the human-environment harmony concept;and finally, establishing a demonstratable application pattern characterized by 'whole-basin coverage' and 'zonal controls', thereby guaranteeing ecological and geological safety in the basin and providing scientific support for ecological conservation and high-quality development of the YRB.Hengxing LAN Jianbing PENG Yanbo ZHU Langping LI Baotian PAN Qiangbing HUANG Junhua LI Qiang ZHANG 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,2:4
Internal OH^(-)induced cascade quenching of upconversio n luminesce nee in NaYF4:Yb/Er nanocrystals显示文摘Internal hydroxyl impurity is known as one of the main detrimental factors affecting the upconversion(UC)efficiency of upconversion luminescence(UCL)nanomaterials.Different from surface'ligand-related emission quenching which can be effectively diminished by,e.g.,core'shell structure, internal hydroxyl is easy to be introduced in synthesis but difficult to be quantified and controlled. Therefore,it becomes an obstacle to fully understand the relevant UC mechanism and improve UC efficiency of nanomaterials. Here we report a progress in quantifying and large-range adjustment of the internal hydroxyl impurity in NaYF4 nanocrystals.By combining the spectroscopy study and model simulation,we have quantitatively unraveled the microscopic in teractions underlying UCL que nching between internal hydroxyl and the sensitizers and activators, respectively.Furthermore, the internal hydroxyl-involved UC dynamical process is interpreted with a vivid concept of'Survivor effect' i.e.;the shorter the migration path of an excited state, the larger the possibility of its surviving from hydroxyl-induced quenchi ng.Apart from the consist ent experimental results, this concept can be further evidenced by Monte Carlo simulation, which monitors the variation of energy migration step distribution before and after the hydroxyl introduction. The new quantitative insights shall promote the construction of highly efficient UC materials.Yansong Feng Zhi Li Qiqing Li Jun Yuan Langping Tu Lixin Ning Hong Zhang 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,6:3
Synthesis of 1,8-naphthalimide-based fluorescent nano-probes and their application in pH detection显示文摘Two kinds of fluorescent nano-probes(pH-A and pH-B) with different diameters for the determination of H+concentration, based on photo-induced electron transfer mechanism, were synthesized through click reaction. In which 1,8-naphthalimide was employed as the fluorophore and N,N-dimethylethylenediamine as the receptor. The effects of particle size and linker length on the photophysical properties of the probe were studied. The results revealed that the nano-probes were more sensitive toward pH with increasing particle size. The fluorescence intensity at 529 nm(I529) of the nano-probe p H-A of 120 nm exhibited good linear relationship with solution's pH in the range of 6–8. The probe p H-A displayed excellent selectivity and competition toward proton over other possible coexisted ions, and it could be applied to detect pH in realistic samples(river water, urine).Langping Zhou Zechen Jin Xiaoxiang Fan Yuhua Yao Zhaoyang Chen Weibing Zhang Junhong Qian 2018Chinese Chemical Letters2018,29,10:2

Research on Strong Earthquake Tendency on Active Tectonic Block Boundaries in the Chinese Mainland显示文摘Previous studies have shown that the active tectonic block boundaries in the Chinese mainland are the main belts and concentration areas of strong earthquakes occurring in the Chinese mainland. It is essential to carry out follow-up analysis of strong earthquake risk of active tectonic block boundaries. In this paper,we carry out the analysis on the tendency of strong earthquakes along each active tectonic block boundary from three aspects respectively, including the evolutionary characteristics of the Load/Unload Response Ratio time series, the probability method based on the log-normal distribution function, and variation of b value. The estimation of strong earthquake criticality on each active tectonic block boundary is done based on the evolutionary characteristics of the Load/Unload Response Ratio time series, the cumulative probability and conditional probability, and the decrease of the b value. Finally, according to the results of analyses on the above three aspects, the potential strong earthquake areas in the forthcoming 5 years in the Chinese mainland are discussed.Zhang Langping Li Zhixiong Shao Zhigang Yin Xiangchu 2011Earthquake Research in China2011,25,2:1

Effect of protein molecules on the photoluminescence properties and stability of water-soluble CdSe/ZnS core-shell quantum dots显示文摘The fact that the photoluminescence properties of quantum dots are always strongly influenced by the environment limits the scope of further progress in the field of QD' bio-applications. In this paper, the effects of immunoglobulin G (IgG) on the photo-luminescence properties and stability of water-soluble CdSe/ZnS core-shell quantum dots coated with amphiphilic poly (acrylic acid) (PAA) are studied. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra, UV-vis spectra and excited state lifetime measurements are used to characterize the influence of different protein molecules, such as IgG (goat anti-human IgG, rabbit anti-human IgG, human IgG, and goat anti-human IgG-human IgG conjugates), avidin and bovine serum albumin (BSA) on the PL properties of QDs. The PL intensity and stability of CdSe/ZnS are largely enhanced compared to that of pure CdSe/ZnS QDs when the IgG molecules are added into the QD solution. The PL intensity increases with increasing the IgG concentration, but there appears no influence on the PL peak and a full width at half maximum (FWHM). The PL evolution of QDs as a function of different protein molecules depends on the structure of protein molecules, which is used as a sensor to recognize human IgG. It is inferred that the interaction between PAA coating layer and IgG molecules results in the enhancement of PL intensity. The study of the effect of pH and ion strength on optical properties of QD-IgG mixed solution, compared with the pure QD solution, suggests that pH value and ion strength do not destroy the interaction between the PAA coating layer and IgG. Excited state lifetime analysis indicates that the PL enhancement comes from the passivation of surface of the QDs with the PAA coating layer. IgG molecules have no effects on the properties of the biological system but can increase the stability and PL intensity of CdSe/ZnS QDs, which will enlarge the application of QDs in biomedicine and other fields.ZHANG YouLin TU LangPing ZENG QingHui KONG XiangGui 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,21:1
An Analysis on Correlativity between Large Earthquakes in the Hindu Kush-Pamir and Tienshan Seismic Zone显示文摘In this paper,we introduce the tectonic setting, historical earthquake focal mechanisms and geodynamic environment of Tienshan and its neighboring regions, and draw a conclusion that large earthquakes in the Tienshan seismic zone are governed mainly by the pushing from Hindu Kush-Pamir syntax. Secondly, the relationship of large earthquakes in the Hindu Kush-Pamir region and the Tienshan seismic zone is investigated, and synchronization features are found existing in the grouped large earthquakes between the large earthquakes in two regions. The relationship between intermediate-focus large earthquakes in Hindu Kush-Pamir and shallow large earthquakes in the Tienshan seismic zone is also discussed. The same synchronization characteristics are found, and the intensity and frequency of intermediate-focus earthquakes are fiercer, while large earthquakes in the Tienshan seismic zone are more intense, with a wider distribution range. The above results confirm the geodynamic correlativity between Hindu Kush-Pamir and the Tienshan seismic zone from the viewpoint of seismicity.Zhang Langping Shao Zhigang 2014Earthquake Research in China2014,28,2:1
The Characteristics of Time Series of Strong Earthquakes in the World and the Chinese Mainland显示文摘Based on the strong earthquake catalogue, this paper discusses the characteristics of the time series of strong earthquake activities in the world, western Chinese mainland and its peripheral 'big triangle seismic region',as well as the Chinese mainland.According to the analysis of the periodic features of global seismicity of M ≥8.0 strong events,it is found that there is significant difference in global seismicity before and after the 1960s.Statistical analysis with the Fisher method has revealed that the 'big triangular seismic region'has experienced a process of M8.0 earthquake activity with a duration of over a hundred years since 1800.Further analysis shows that the global seismicity and the 'big triangular seismic region'possibly has a period of a hundred-year scale, and has quasisynchronicity to a certain extent. The shallow earthquake activity of M S ≥7.0 in the Chinese mainland is obviously controlled by the seismicity in the big triangular seismic region and by global seismicity in a larger spatial-scale.In terms of the time series of these earthquakes, the seismicity shows a decadal and century-scale activity patterns.Shao Zhigang Ma Zongjin Cai Jin'an Ren Jinwei Chen Huizhong Zhang Langping 2013Earthquake Research in China2013,27,3:1
Relationship between M_S≥7.0 Earthquakes in the Chinese Mainland and Tidal Coulomb Failure Stress显示文摘In this paper,we focused on earthquakes with M S≥7.0 in the Chinese mainland from1900 to 2012,calculated the lunisolar tidal Coulomb failure stress on the seismic fault plane and got the tidal phase through Schuster's test, then quantitatively analyzed the correlation between strong earthquakes in the Chinese mainland and tidal Coulomb failure stress.Research shows that among 57 strong earthquakes with focal mechanism solutions, over 71.9%took place within the tidal loading phase, with the p-value of 3.83%,indicating that strong earthquakes with M S≥7.0 in Chinese mainland have a certain correlation with lunisolar tidal Coulomb failure stress. In the active period, the p-value is4.56%,75.5%of earthquakes occurred in the tidal loading phase zone, and 50%of earthquakes occurred in the quiescence period, indicating that strong earthquakes in the active period were obviously triggered with the tidal Coulomb failure stress loading.Zhang Hui Zhang Langping Xu Hui Wang Yixi 2013Earthquake Research in China2013,27,4:0
Application of Load/Unload Response Ratio in the Study of Seismicity in the Region of Iran显示文摘The variation of Load/Unload Response Ratio (LURR) against time for earthquakes in Kerman Province, Iran, on February 22, 2005, M6.4 and in Lorestan Province, Iran, on March 31, 2006, M6.1, has been calculated and analysed in this paper. The tempo-spatial scanning of LURR in the region of Iran during January 1, 2003 to March 31, 2006 has been conducted, with 1 year as a time-window, 1 month as a time-step, and the comparison of the LURR anomalous regions in 2004 with the actual earthquakes with M≥5.0 in the next year (2005) is also given, which shows that 11 earthquakes with M≥5.0 occurred in LURR anomalous regions while 12 earthquakes with M≥5.0 in LURR regions in 2005. Furthermore, the seismicity in this region is studied by investigating the evolvement of the anomalous LURR regions.Zhang Langping Yin Xiangchu Liang Naigang 2007Earthquake Research in China2007,21,2:0
