| 1 | Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. | 2 | Point attention network for point cloud semantic segmentation显示文摘We address the point cloud semantic segmentation problem through modeling long-range dependencies based on the self-attention mechanism.Existing semantic segmentation models generally focus on local feature aggregation.By comparison,we propose a point attention network(PA-Net)to selectively extract local features with long-range dependencies.We specially devise two complementary attention modules for the point cloud semantic segmentation task.The attention modules adaptively integrate the semantic inter-dependencies with long-range dependencies.Our point attention module adaptively integrates local features of the last layer of the encoder with a weighted sum of the long-range dependency features.Regardless of the distance of similar features,they are all correlated with each other.Meanwhile,the feature attention module adaptively integrates inter-dependent feature maps among all local features in the last layer of the encoder.Extensive results prove that our two attention modules together improve the performance of semantic segmentation on point clouds.We achieve better semantic segmentation performance on two benchmark point cloud datasets(i.e.,S3DIS and Scan Net).Particularly,the Io U on 11 semantic categories of S3DIS is significantly boosted. | Dayong REN Zhengyi WU Jiawei LI Piaopiao YU Jie GUO Mingqiang WEI Yanwen GUO | 2022 | Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,9: | 2 |

| 4 | Influence of t-ZrO_2 addition on mechanical property and electrical conductivity of YSZ electrolyte显示文摘8YSZ material that has high electrical conductivity is widely used as electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). But its low strength and low fracture toughness hampered the development of SOFCs. In order to find a best method to improve the capability of YSZ electrolyte, the effects of 3Y-TZP additive on the density, strength, conductivity and microstructure were studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Vicker′s hardness apparatus. The strength and conductivity of YSZ electrolyte doped with different amounts of 3Y-TZP were determined. It is shown that the samples sintered at 1450 ℃ for 2 h are the best in properties. When 3Y-TZP powders are added to the YSZ system, the results demonstrate that strength of the electrolyte increases remarkably, and the fracture toughness is improved. The electrical conductivity is lowered only slightly. | 8 | Prevalence of antifolate drug resistance markers in Plasmodium vivax in China显示文摘The dihydrofolate reductase(dhfr)and dihydropteroate synthetase(dhps)genes of Plasmodium vivax,as antifolate resistance-associated genes were used for drug resistance surveillance.A total of 375 P.vivax isolates collected from different geographical locations in China in 2009–2019 were used to sequence Pvdhfr and Pvdhps.The majority of the isolates harbored a mutant type allele for Pvdhfr(94.5%)and Pvdhps(68.2%).The most predominant point mutations were S117T/N(77.7%)in Pvdhfr and A383G(66.8%)in Pvdhps.Amino acid changes were identified at nine residues in Pvdhfr.A quadruple-mutant haplotype at 57,58,61,and 117 was the most frequent(57.4%)among 16 distinct Pvdhfr haplotypes.Mutations in Pvdhps were detected at six codons,and the double-mutant A383G/A553G was the most prevalent(39.3%).Pvdhfr exhibited a higher mutation prevalence and greater diversity than Pvdhps in China.Most isolates from Yunnan carried multiple mutant haplotypes,while the majority of samples from temperate regions and Hainan Island harbored the wild type or single mutant type.This study indicated that the antifolate resistance levels of P.vivax parasites were different across China and molecular markers could be used to rapidly monitor drug resistance.Results provided evidence for updating national drug policy and treatment guidelines. | Fang Huang Yanwen Cui He Yan Hui Liu Xiangrui Guo Guangze Wang Shuisen Zhou Zhigui Xia | 2022 | Frontiers of Medicine2022,16,1: | 1 |

| 10 | Unraveling the drug distribution in brain enabled by MALDI MS imaging with laser-assisted chemical transfer显示文摘Accurate localization of central nervous system(CNS)drug distribution in the brain is quite challenging to matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization(MALDI)mass spectrometry imaging(MSI),owing to the ionization competition/suppression of highly abundant endogenous biomolecules and MALDI matrix.Herein,we developed a highly efficient sample preparation technique,laser-assisted chemical transfer(LACT),to enhance the detection sensitivity of CNS drugs in brain tissues.A focused diode laser source transilluminated the tissue slide coated with α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid,an optimal matrix to highly absorb the laser radiation at 405 nm,and a very thin-layer chemical film mainly containing drug molecule was transferred to the acceptor glass slide.Subsequently,MALDI MSI was performed on the chemical film without additional sample treatment.One major advantage of LACT is to minimize ionization competition/suppression from the tissue itself by removing abundant endogenous lipid and protein components.The superior performance of LACT led to the successful visualization of regional distribution patterns of 16 CNS drugs in the mouse brain.Furthermore,the dynamic spatial changes of risperidone and its metabolite were visualized over a 24-h period.Also,the brain-to-plasma(B/P)ratio could be obtained according to MALDI MSI results,providing an alternative means to assess brain penetration in drug discovery. | Shuai Guo Kening Li Yanwen Chen Bin Li | 2022 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,4: | 1 |

| 19 | Effects of nectar-robbing on plant reproduction and evolution显示文摘The relationship between plant and pollinator is considered as the mutualism because plant benefits from the pollinator’s transport of male gametes and pollinator benefits from plant’s reward.Nectar robbers are frequently described as cheaters in the plant-pollinator mutualism,because it is assumed that they obtain a reward(nectar)without providing a service(pollination).Nectar robbers are birds,insects,or other flower visitors that remove nectar from flowers through a hole pierced or bitten in the corolla.Nectar robbing repre-sents a complex relationship between animals and plants.Whether plants benefit from the relationship is always a con-troversial issue in earlier studies.This paper is a review of the recent literatures on nectar robbing and attempts to acquire an expanded understanding of the ecological and evolutionary roles that robbers play.Understanding the effects of nectar robbers on the plants that they visited and other flower visi-tors is especially important when one considers the high rates of robbing that a plant population may experience and the high percentage of all flower visitors that nectar robbers make to some species.There are two standpoints in explaining why animals forage on flowers and steal nectar in an illegitimate behavior.One is that animals can only get food in illegitimate way because of the mismatch of the morphologies of animals’mouthparts and floral structure.The other point of view argues that nectar robbing is a relatively more efficient,thus more energy-saving way for animals to get nectar from flowers.This is probably associated with the difficulty of changing attitudes that have been held for a long time.In the case of positive effect,the bodies of nectar robbers frequently touch the sex organs of plants during their visiting to the flowers and causing pollination.The neutral effect,nectar robbers’behavior may destruct the corollas of flowers,but they neither touch the sex organs nor destroy the ovules.Their behavior does not affect the fruit sets or seed sets of the hosting plant.Besides the direct impacts on plants,nectar robbers may also have an indirect effect on the behavior of the legitimate pollinators.Under some circumstances,the change in pollinator behavior could result in improved repro-ductive fitness of plants through increased pollen flow and out-crossing. | ZHANG Yanwen WANG Yong GUO Youhao | 2007 | Frontiers in Biology2007,2,4: | 0 |
| 20 | Applications of Three-Dimensional LBM-LES Combined Model for Pump Intakes显示文摘Lattice Boltzmannmodel(LBM)in conjunction with an accurate Large Eddy Simulation(LES)technology was proposed to simulate various vortical structures and their evolutions in open pump intakes.The strain rate tensor in the LES model is locally calculated by means of non-equilibrium moments based on Chapman-Enskog expansion,and bounce-back scheme was used for non-slip condition on solid walls and reflection scheme for free surface.The presentedmodel was applied to investigate free-surface and wall-attached vortices for different water levels and flow rate.The vortex position,shapes and vorticities were predicted successfully under three flowing cases(i.e.critical water level(CWL),lower water level,lower flow rate),and the numerical velocity and streamline distribution were analyzed systematically.For CWL based on Froude number considering open channel flows,the shape and the location of various dynamic vortices were captured.Compare to the experimental results of CWL,more vortices were predicted for lower water level,and less vortices were observed for lower flow rate.The predicted velocities and vortex locations are in good agreement with the experimental of a small physical model.The comparisons demonstrated the feasibility and stability of above-mentioned model and numerical method in predicting vortex flows inside open pump intakes. | Miao Guo Xuelin Tang Yanwen Su Xiaoqin Li Fujun Wang | 2018 | Communications in Computational Physics2018,24,6: | 0 |
