1Breaches of the Baige Barrier Lake: Emergency response and dam breach flood显示文摘This paper documents the emergency response to the breaches of the Baige Barrier Lake. The lake was successively formed by landslides that occurred on October 10 and November 3, 2018 at the provincial border between Sichuan and Tibet in China. The barrier lake created by the '10.10' landslide breached on October 12 and triggered a flood with a peak discharge around 10000 m^3/s. The residual landslide barrier was enhanced by a second landslide on November 3, resulting in a higher barrier with larger flood potential. An overflow channel was excavated in the crest of the barrier to prompt the breach to be triggered at a lower water level. The second breach happened on November 12 with a measured peak discharge of 31000 m^3/s. Nearly 75000 people were evacuated before the two breaches. In order to prevent the downstream dams from possible over-topping, nearly 3.27×10~8 m^3 of the stored volume was released from the Liyuan reservoir 688 km downstream of Baige Barrier Lake. This paper presents the measured hydrographs and the back-analysis results for the '11.03' barrier lake. It is shown that the modern models of dam breach hydraulics can reasonably reproduce the barrier breach hydrographs;however, further studies are needed to define the key parameters which highly influence the calculated results. 2Pathological mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Alzheimer's disease is a rather complex neurodegenerative disease,which is attributed to a combination of multiple factors.Among the many pathological pathways,synaptic dysfunctions,such as synapses loss and deficits in synaptic plasticity,were thought to be strongly associated with cognitive decline.The deficiencies in various sorts of neurotransmissions are responsible for the multifarious neurodegenerative symptoms in Alzheimer's disease,for example,the cholinergic and glutamatergic deficits for cognitive decline,the excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission dyshomeostasis for synaptic plasticity deficits and epileptiform symptoms,and the monoamine neurotransmission for neuropsychiatric symptoms.Amyloid cascade hypothesis is the most popular pathological theory to explain Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis and attracts considerable attention.Multiple lines of genetic and pathological evidence support the predominant role of amyloid beta in Alzheimer's disease pathology.Neurofibrillary tangles assembled by microtubule-associated protein tau are other important histopathological characteristics in Alzheimer's disease brains.Cascade of tau toxicity was proved to lead to neuron damage,neuroinflammation and oxidative stress in brain.Ageing is the main risk factor of neurodegenerative diseases,and is associated with inflammation,oxidative stress,reduced metabolism,endocrine insufficiencies and organ failures.These aging related risk factors were also proved to be some of the risk factors contributing to Alzheimer's disease.In Alzheimer's disease drug development,many good therapeutic strategies have been investigated in clinical evaluations.However,complex mechanism of Alzheimer's disease and the interplay among different pathological factors call for the come out of allpowerful therapies with multiple curing functions.This review seeks to summarize some of the representative treatments targeting different pathological pathways currently under clinical evaluations.Multi-target therapies as an emerging strategy for Alzheimer's disease treatment will be highlighted.Yaojun Ju Kin Yip Tam 2022Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,3:16

4Preparation of ternary Cr_2 O_3-SiC-TiO_2 composites for the photocatalytic production of hydrogen显示文摘Novel ternary Cr 2 O 3 -SiC-TiO 2 composites were synthesized by implanting Cr 3+ into SiC-TiO 2 via sol-gel and impregnation approaches. The results from X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and trans- mission electron microscopy show that the Cr 3+ species were doped onto the surface of the SiC-TiO 2 carrier. The diffuse reflectance ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra revealed that the absorption edges of the ternary Cr 2 O 3 -SiC-TiO 2 composites were gradually shifted red with increasing chromium content. The luminescence intensities of the composites decreased with increasing doped Cr 3+ content due to the reduction in the number of recombination sites of electron-hole pairs. 6Computer-Assisted Detection of Colonic Polyps Using Improved Faster R-CNN显示文摘The deficiencies of existing polyp detection methods remain:i)They primarily depend on the manually extracted features and require considerable amounts of preprocessing.ii)Most traditional methods cannot specify the location of the polyps in colonoscopy images,especially for the polyps with variable size.In order to derive the improvement and lift the accuracy,we propose a novel and scalable detection algorithm based on deep neural networks-an improved Faster Regionbased Convolutional neural networks(Faster R-CNN)-by increasing the fusion of feature maps at different levels.It can be employed to detect and locate polyps,and even achieve a multi-object task for polyps in the future.The experimental consequences demonstrate that the best version among improved algorithms achieves 97.13%accuracy on the CVC-ClinicDB database,overtaking the previous methods.LI Jiangyun ZHANG Jie CHANG Dedan HU Yaojun 2019Chinese Journal of Electronics2019,28,4:6
7Fly ash-based geopolymer as a novel photocatalyst for degradation of dye from wastewater显示文摘The geopolymer synthesized by alkali-activated fly ash was firstly used as a novel photocatalyst for degradation of methylene blue(MB) dye from wastewater.The geopolymer is composed of nanoparticulates with an average particle size of about 50 nm.More than 90%of pore volume in the fly ash-based geopolymer predominately centralized on the pore size in the range of 17-700 nm.The degradation efficiency of MB dye by fly ash-based geopolymer catalyst was up to 92.79%under UV irradiation due to the synergistic effect of adsorption and semiconductor photocatalysis.The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order rate equations as well as intra-particle diffusion rate equation were employed to correlate analysis for the adsorption kinetics of MB dye.The experimental data agreed well with pseudo-second-order rate equation in both cases of with UV and without UV irradiations.The intra-particle diffusion process is not the rate determining step.The photocatalytic degradation of MB dye in solution obeys third-order reaction kinetics.Yaojun Zhang Licai Liu 2013Particuology2013,11,3:5
8Effects of sediment parameters on the low frequency acoustic wave propagation in shallow water显示文摘The integral expression for acoustic field due to a point source in shallow waterwhile sediment is either a liquid or a solid is derived. The synthetic full waveforms are simulatedusing real axis integration and FFF method. The effects of the seabed sediment parametersand center frequency of the source on the low frequency acoustic wave propagation in shallowwater are investigated. The conclusion is that the wave groups received in far field are thoseof the mode waves of the source center frequency. 9Clinicopathological and prognostic role of MMP-9 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective:Many studies reported that matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)participated in the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and resulted in poor prognosis,however,they all included few patients and had inconsistent results.So we conducted a meta-analysis to explore the correlation between overexpression of MMP-9 and the clinicopathological characteristics and overall survival(OS)of ESCC.Methods:PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Google Scholar and other databases were searched for relevant studies.The Newcastle-Ottawa quality assessment scale was used to assess the methodological quality of included study and RevMan 5.2 software was used to conduct meta-analysis.Results:A total of 35 studies were included,and the results of meta-analysis showed that overexpression of MMP-9 was associated with grade of differentiation[well/moderate vs.poor:odds ratio(OR):0.39,95%confidence interval(CI):0.29-0.52;P<0.00001],lymph node metastasis(negative vs.positive:OR:0.24,95%CI:0.16-0.34;P<0.00001),TNM stage(T1/T2 vs.T3/T4:OR:0.28,95%CI:0.14-0.54;P=0.0002),the depth of invasion(T1/T2 vs.T3/T4:OR:0.29,95%CI:0.17-0.49;P<0.00001),and vascular invasion of ESCC(negative vs.positive:OR:0.35,95%CI:0.21-0.58;P<0.0001),and also associated with poor overall survival of ESCC(HR:2.17,95%CI:1.32-3.57;P=0.002).Subgroup analysis showed that more than 10%of carcinoma cell staining was associated with significant increase of mortality risk(HR:2.44,95%CI:1.16-5.15;P=0.02),and sensitive analysis suggested that MMP-9 was an independent prognostic factor in ESCC(HR:1.49,95%CI:1.16-1.91;P=0.002).Conclusions:On the basis of limited evidence,overexpression of MMP-9 may be a potential independent prognosis factor of ESCC patients in Asia,and high-quality studies assessing the prognostic significance of MMP-9 for ESCC patients are still needed.Rong Zeng Lei Duan Yuke Kong Yaojun Liang Xiaolu Wu Xuequan Wei Kehu Yang 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,6:5
10Evaluating transit operator efficiency:An enhanced DEA model with constrained fuzzy-AHP cones显示文摘This study addresses efforts to comb the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) with Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) to deliver a robust enhanced DEA model for transit operator efficiency assessment.The proposed model is designed to better capture inherent preferences information over input and output indicators by adding constraint cones to the conventional DEA model.A revised fuzzy-AHP model is employed to generate cones,where the proposed model features the integration of the fuzzy logic with a hierarchical AHP structure to:1) normalize the scales of different evaluation indicators,2) construct the matrix of pairwise comparisons with fuzzy set,and 3) optimize the weight of each criterion with a nonlinear programming model.With introduction of cone-based constraints,the new system offers accounting advantages in the interaction among indicators when evaluating the performance of transit operators.To illustrate the applicability of the proposed approach,a real case in Nanjing City,the capital of China's Jiangsu Province,has been selected to assess the efficiencies of seven bus companies based on 2009 and 2010 datasets.A comparison between conventional DEA and enhanced DEA was also conducted to clarify the new system's superiority.Results reveal that the proposed model is more applicable in evaluating transit operator's efficiency thus encouraging a boarder range of applications.Xin Li Yue Liu Yaojun Wang Zhigang Gao 2016Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2016,3,3:4
11Serum semaphorin 4C as a diagnostic biomarker in breast cancer:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Background:To date,there is no approved blood-based biomarker for breast cancer detection.Herein,we aimed to assess semaphorin 4C(SEMA4C),a pivotal protein involved in breast cancer progression,as a serum diagnostic biomarker.Methods:We included 6,213 consecutive inpatients from Tongji Hospital,Qilu Hospital,and Hubei Cancer Hospital.Training cohort and two validation cohorts were introduced for diagnostic exploration and validation.A pan-cancer cohort was used to independently explore the diagnostic potential of SEMA4C among solid tumors.Breast cancer patients who underwent mass excision prior to modified radical mastectomy were also analyzed.We hypothesized that increased pretreatment serum SEMA4C levels,measured using optimized in-house enzymelinked immunosorbent assay kits,could detect breast cancer.The endpoints were diagnostic performance,including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity.Post-surgery pathological diagnosis was the reference standard and breast cancer staging followed the TNM classification.There was no restriction on disease stage for eligibilities.Results:We included 2667 inpatients with breast lesions,2378 patients with other solid tumors,and 1168 healthy participants.Specifically,118 patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with stage 0(5.71%),620 with stage I(30.00%),966 with stage II(46.73%),217 with stage III(10.50%),and 8 with stage IV(0.39%).Patients with breast cancer had significantly higher serum SEMA4C levels than benign breast tumor patients and normal controls(P<0.001).Elevated serum SEMA4C levels had AUC of 0.920(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.900–0.941)and 0.932(95%CI:0.911–0.953)for breast cancer detection in the two validation cohorts.The AUCs for detecting early-stage breast cancer(n=366)and ductal carcinoma in situ(n=85)were 0.931(95%CI:0.916–0.946)and 0.879(95%CI:0.832–0.925),respectively.Serum SEMA4C levels significantly decreased after surgery,and the reduction was more striking after modified radical mastectomy,compared with mass excision(P<0.001).The positive rate of enhanced serum SEMA4C levels was 84.77%for breast cancer and below 20.75%for the other 14 solid tumors.Conclusions:Serum SEMA4C demonstrated promising potential as a candidate biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis.However,validation in prospective settings and by other study groups is warranted.Ya Wang Long Qiao Jie Yang Xiong Li Yaqi Duan Jiahao Liu Shaoqi Chen Huayi Li Dan Liu Tian Fang Jingjing Ma Xiaoting Li Fei Ye Junxiang Wan Juncheng Wei Qin Xu Ensong Guo Ping Jin Mingfu Wu Lin Zhang Yun Xia Yaqun Wu Jun Shao Yaojun Feng Qing Zhang Zongyuan Yang Gang Chen Qinghua Zhang Xingrui Li Shixuan Wang Junbo Hu Xiaoyun Wang Mona P.Tan Kazuaki Takabe Beihua Kong Qifeng Yang Ding Ma Qinglei Gao 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,12:3
12State-of-the-Art Technology in the Construction of Sea-Crossing Fixed Links with a Bridge, Island, and Tunnel Combination显示文摘In general, two kinds of structures are used to provide a way across a river, canal, sea, or other obstacle: bridge structures that pass over the obstacle, and tunnel structures that pass below the obstacle. Although the construction of both bridges and tunnels can be traced back over thousands of years, bridge–tunnel combinations that use an island as a sea-crossing fixed link (SCFL) have only been built over the past 82 years. The first such combination was probably the 6.4 km long San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge in the United States, which was completed in 1936. 14Comparison and harmonization of building wind loading codes among the Asia-Pacific Economies显示文摘This paper reviews wind loading codes and standards in the Asia-Pacific Region,in particular in the 15 countries and areas.A general description of wind loading model is given as a famous wind loading chain described by four variables including velocity pressure,exposure factor,pressure coefficient,and gust response factor.Through the APEC-WW Workshops and the extensive calculations for three examples of low,medium and high rise buildings,these four important variables of wind loads are evaluated and compared with statistical parameters,mean values and coefficients of variation.The main results of the comparison show some differences among the 15 economies,and the reasons and further incorporation are discussed and suggested.Yaojun GE Shuyang CAO Xinyang JIN 2013Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2013,7,4:2

17Influence of Sr on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZL114 cast alloy显示文摘In the present work, the effects of trace element Sr on the microstructure, tensile properties, fractography and morphology of the eutectic Si of ZL114A (Al-7Si) cast alloy were investigated. The cast ZL114A aluminum alloy was prepared using a metal mold, and then heat treated with the T6 technique. The test results of mechanical properties show that modification element Sr can improve significantly the ultimate tensile strength, elongation and hardness of the ZL114A-T6 aluminum alloy. By adding 0.04%Sr, the values of the tensile strength Rm, elongation A and hardness HB increase from 230 MPa, 1% and 65 to the maximum of 305 MPa, 8%, and 100, respectively. SEM analysis indicates that the near tensile fracture surface on longitudinal section of the ZL114A-T6 alloy reveals a transgranular fracture mode without Sr modification, while the tensile fracture is an intergranular fracture mode after Sr modification. 18An Ensemble Detection Method for Shilling Attacks Based on Features of Automatic Extraction显示文摘Faced with the evolving attacks in recommender systems, many detection features have been proposed by human engineering and used in supervised or unsupervised detection methods. However, the detection features extracted by human engineering are usually aimed at some specific types of attacks. To further detect other new types of attacks, the traditional methods have to re-extract detection features with high knowledge cost. To address these limitations, the method for automatic extraction of robust features is proposed and then an Adaboost-based detection method is presented. Firstly, to obtain robust representation with prior knowledge, unlike uniform corruption rate in traditional mLDA(marginalized Linear Denoising Autoencoder), different corruption rates for items are calculated according to the ratings’ distribution. Secondly, the ratings sparsity is used to weight the mapping matrix to extract low-dimensional representation. Moreover, the uniform corruption rate is also set to the next layer in mSLDA(marginalized Stacked Linear Denoising Autoencoder) to extract the stable and robust user features. Finally, under the robust feature space, an Adaboost-based detection method is proposed to alleviate the imbalanced classification problem. 19Effect of matrix cracking on the time delayed buckling of viscoelastic laminated circular cylindrical shells显示文摘The effect of matrix cracking on the bifurcation creep buckling of viscoelastic laminated circular cylindrical shells is investigated.The viscoelastic behavior of laminas is modeled by Schapery's integral constitutive equation with growing matrix cracks.The values of damage variables are correlated to non-dimensional density of matrix cracks relying on the formulas from mesomechanics approach,and the evolution equation predicting the growth rate of density of matrix cracks is assumed to follow a power type relation with transverse tensile stress.The governing equations for prebuckling creep deformation and bifurcation buckling of laminated circular cylindrical shells under axial compression are obtained on the basis of the Donnell type shallow shell theory and Kármán-Donnell geometrically nonlinear relationship.Corresponding solution strategy is constructed by integrating finite-difference technique,trigonometric series expansion method and Taylor's numerical recursive scheme for convolution integration.The bifurcation creep buckling of symmetrically laminated glass-epoxy circular cylindrical shells with matrix creep cracking coupled are examined for various geometrical parameters and parameters of damage evolution as well as boundary conditions.The numerical results show that matrix creep cracking remarkably shortens the critic time of bifurcation buckling and reduces the durable critic loads,and its effects become weak and finally vanish with the increase of the ratio of radius to thickness in the case of short laminated circular cylindrical shells,also the influence of the matrix creep cracking is mainly dependent on the boundary conditions at two ends for moderately long circular cylindrical shells.PENG Fan,FU YiMing & CHEN YaoJun College of Mechanics and Aerospace,Hunan University,Changsha 410082,China 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,12:2
20Microstructure,mechanical properties and wear resistance of an Al-Mg-Si alloy produced by equal channel angular pressing显示文摘Microstructure,mechanical properties and wear resistance in an ultrafine grained Al-Mg-Si alloy fabricated utilizing a combination of equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)and dynamic aging were investigated in this paper.The results indicated that the grain size of the ECAP alloy was significantly refined,i.e,to^239 nm after three ECAP passes.Meanwhile,the yield and tensile strength of the ECAPed material reached 340 MPa and 445 MPa,respectively,while maintaining a significant uniform elongation of 14%.Wear resistance results de-monstrated that the wear rate,wear depth and width of the ECAPed material decreased in comparison with the solution.treated(SST)and peak aged(T6)conditions under a load range of 5-25 N.The adhesive wear that occurs in the undeformed specimens at 10 N does not appear in the ECAPed specimen at the same load,in-dicating that the ECAPed specimen delay the appearance of more serious wear mechanisms under certain loads.The cooperative interaction of high density nano-scaleβ'precipitates and dislocations resulted in a combination of super-high strength and good work hardening ability which suppressed the extension of cracks between the friction layer and the plastic deformation zone.As a consequence,the combination of ECAP and dynamic aging brings a significant improvement for antifriction performance of the 6061 aluminum alloy.Manping Liu Jian Chen Yaojun Lin Zhoulei Xue Hans J.Roven Pal C.Skaret 2020Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2020,30,4:2
